“Send us a Hey Now!”After last week's off week we were back to watching cars on track and it was a sprint week to boot as F1 rocked up in Miami.Could Oscar Piastri make it three wins in a row? Would Lando seize back the initiative? Could Max make a run at a Miami win or would the challenge come from elsewhere? Who would win the sprint and could a team become the first team to win both the sprint & the main race? All these questions and more are answered on this weeks episode.Episode running order as always is...1) News & SocialAll the best bits from both the sports news out there as well as what caught our eye on the various social channels2) Brian's Video Vault https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NyZh1Nl0JXk&pp=0gcJCYQJAYcqIYzv. Miten ihmiset kokevat ajan?

Ihana Wine is a boutique wine brand launched by Finnish Formula One driver Valtteri Bottas in partnership with sixth generation McLaren Vale wine company Oliver's Taranga. A ten-time race winner currently driving for the Kick Sauber F1 team, Valtteri shares with us his longstanding passion for wine, and specifically South Australian shiraz, which has been crystallised through his relationship with South Australian Tiffany Cromwell, the professional cyclist. Listen in as Valtteri opens up about the blending process, collaborating with Oliver's Taranga winemaker Corrina Wright, and how he balances his interests in wine, coffee and gin with the demands of the F1 season. We find out what he thinks of the DR3 wines created by Australian F1 driver Daniel Ricciardo, who we had on the show in early 2023. Later on this episode I talk again with Corrina who gives her perspective on one of the more unlikely celebrity wine partnerships that I've been able to share with you on the Drinks Adventures podcast.

A fresh episode of Better Lait Than Never can only mean it's Wednesday afternoon, you're on the back half of your work week, and we've got a whole lot of catching up to do. Are you excited? I'm excited.Kicking off this week's podcast, I got started with a farewell to my beloved Alfa Romeo Stelvio after our deal with Alfa Romeo of Edmonton wrapped up last week. As much as I always expected them to call me and say my car had been sold, I was hoping I'd be able to drive Valtteri forever. From there, I recapped the #NationVacation to Seattle and tried to give a few different stories from my perspective that you may not have heard yet. What remained constant, however, was that the people who join us on these trips are truly incredible, and they make every trip we do so very special. Getting back to the Oilers, it's been a crazy week around these parts, and I tried to make sense as best as possible about the decision to fire Jay Woodcroft and replace him with Kris Knoblauch. One thing I know for sure: just because I'm annoyed about Woodcroft being let go doesn't mean I won't be cheering for Coach Garlic to succeed. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said about Jack Campbell. At least, not right now. As we know, Soup was sent down to the Bakersfield Condors last week, and to say that his stint on the farm has been unsuccessful so far would be the understatement of a lifetime. Lastly, I wrapped up the episode with another Righteous Sack Beating and a fresh round of voicemails to get your take on everything that's been happening since last week's episode. Oh my goodness! Some drivers made cases for themselves, that not even the DA could have done a better job. Perez was literally out there in the Japanese GP playing bumper cars. He clipped Lewis and then proceeded to spin Kevin from team HAAS. George decides that the team game is not his thing. Dive bombs Lewis, nearly causing a Mercedes double DNF. Following that, Lewis gives Russell a taste of his own medicine down the main straight and swooping turn by running George wide. Logan Sargeant Not, made a statement pretty much outlining that he would do better and that's been a fib. Logan took the opportunity to cause damage before and during the actual race. To make things worse, he ended Valtteri's race. Which Alfa Romeo already have a load of their own problems to deal with. But, big shout out to Oscar Piastri from McLaren! Scoring his first podium as a rookie!
F1 heads to Japan, and despite a double DNF, Red Bull rebounds from their worst weekend of the season to clench their 6th constructor's title! Absolutely no one is surprised.Discussion topics include contract extensions, contracts we wish would be extended to a certain reserve driver, Seb being F1's Captain Planet, what we really think about Carlos's new relationship, Logan spinning out, tensions rumbling at Mercedes, more bad luck for Valtteri, dramatic team radios, a whopping FIVE driver DNFs, and a double McLaren podium! Also, Ch4rles is back, and maybe we should just be grateful, but we really need to see him on the podium again for our collective mental health (PLS GOD???). Did we stay up late? Hellll no! This race was basically on the other side of the planet. This week on the Cut to the Race/News from the Nerds podcast, we have a hybrid episode (a show fit for the hybrid era of F1). Together with host James M, Abby and Sam talk through the key parts of the Hungarian Grand Prix weekend before turning their attention to the upcoming Belgian Grand Prix at Spa-Francorchamps. Pertaining to Hungary, the trio take a look at the return of Daniel Ricciardo, analysing how he fared on his first weekend back at his old haunt, AlphaTauri. Dissecting Sergio Perez's weekend. The Red Bull driver has been under pressure of late, and an incident a matter of minutes into FP1, coupled with another lacklustre qualifying – even if he did make it to Q3 – won't have helped things. The one saying grace was his recovery to the podium in a ‘driver of the day' winning performance, but do the panel agree with that? It was a disastrous first lap for both Alfa Romeo and Alpine. The former saw their superb qualifying erased by Zhou's poor start and Valtteri getting shuffled out the points. The latter's race was run by the end of the opening corner – both victims of Zhou's poor start. With Ferrari in no-man's-land and Aston Martin falling back, it looks like it'll be McLaren vs. Mercedes in the battle to take the fight to Red Bull for the next few races. The panel discuss their weekends before shifting focus to the third sprint weekend of the season, at Spa. After previewing the weekend, the team cover a couple of topics up for discussion when the F1 commission meets, including engine equalisation and tyre blankets. https://www.formulanerds.com/news/engine-equalisation-to-be-discussed-at-f1-commission-next-week/ Following that, they turn their attention back to McLaren, who might not yet be done with upgrades and steps forward this season. Can the Woking-based team cement themselves as the rightful number two in F1? Can they dare to challenge this untouchable Red Bulls? Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Hunter looks at how he's been the best player on a really bad WBS team and how he's at least going to be one of the first call-ups when the Penguins inevitably have their first swath of injuries. Hunter also analyzes what his chances are of making the team out of training camp considering there may not be a lot of spots up for grabs if Dubas fills out the forward depth like he intends to. Also: What is his ceiling? Hunter looks at that before moving on to another UFA d-man target in Shayne Gostisbehere. He dives into the numbers that he put up when he reached Carolina and how he got back to basics while playing in their system. He then analyzes what the Penguins would be getting from him before discussing what type of partner he needs to play with. Also: Do the Penguins need more offense from their backend? Hunter tackles that question before ending the show with a discussion about Oliver Ekman-Larsson and if the Penguins could take a cheap flier on him. Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors! Valtteri has found a warm and welcoming vibe in the Alfa Romeo building. He feels a sense of ownership he couldn't experience with Mercedes. Mainly due to his performance sitting him in the number two seat and Lewis Hamilton being as great as he is in the history of Formula 1. Now Bottas has the lead and a rookie in Zhou right beside him. Performance at Alfa Romeo is not equaling what Bottas produced with Mercedes. But, he said it's more important to feel wanted. In 2026, Audi will be taking over the Sauber chassis that Alfa Romeo currently occupy. The big question on the horizon will be if Audi wants Bottas.

To learn more about how F1 wows fans and grows its fanbase with Salesforce, visit Salesforce.com/F1 Cooler, calmer and now rocking a new hairstyle, Valtteri Bottas seems a completely different man to the one that left Mercedes at the end of 2021. The 10-time Grand Prix winner still has a burning desire to reach the top step of the podium again, but his approach to Formula 1 has changed a lot since joining Alfa Romeo. He's less sensitive to criticism, he doesn't care what others think of him and he's enjoying everything that makes him happy outside of the sport. Valtteri tells Tom Clarkson the inspiration behind his mullet, how he's adapted to a team not fighting at the front and why he's got no plans to leave F1 anytime soon. Plus, the Finn explains why he thinks Lewis Hamilton is still the fastest driver on the grid. Follow, rate and review F1 Beyond The Grid and share this episode using #F1BeyondTheGrid. They talk about the comical contract signed on a day of high tension among Islanders fans and how Filppula found instant chemistry with another newcomer, Leo Komarov, on a team that was more successful than any fan ever dreamed it would be. They also recap a couple of highlight reel goals that show that the center was more than just the bad underlying numbers he had two years prior. But then the biggest plot twist imaginable happened when Filppula left to return to his original team and the Islanders had to scramble to replace a guy who had arrived in a flash. Of course, no tribute to “Weird Frans” would be complete without a discussion of the beloved Islander he most closely resembled on the ice, and how they formed a friendship after they both left the team.
