Speakers: Sean FitzGerald and Leanne Loranger In this episode, Sean and Leanne discuss video recording in physiotherapy practice settings, including video surveillance, generating recordings of virtual visits, and creating videos of patient instructions or home exercise programs as part of in-person visits. Physiotherapists usually provide lots of information to clients, and there can be benefits to providing video summaries of information. However, physiotherapists need to consider the privacy, record keeping, and consent issues that arise if they create videos in their practice settings and take steps to proactively address these issues. Physiotherapists should also consider the potential that a client may record a clinical interaction, either with their knowledge and consent or not. "I always feel like somebody's watching me..." go the lyrics of the 1980's Rockwell song - "And I have no privacy." And it's true in this era where technology advances have made video surveillance something we live with on a daily basis. But capturing and using video footage is complicated, frequently compounded by the use of legacy data storage technology. For this episode, we welcome, Tom Sells, Field Business Development Principal and Video Surveillance solutions expert, to talk thru the history of video surveillance (hint: it's not like what we see in the movies). We take a walk thru the new and emerging use cases across many industries - law enforcement, education, retail, transportation, and even gaming & casinos. Finally, we hone in on how Pure's latest //E family of arrays and Evergreen//One provide cost-effective and modern solutions that make capture and retention far easier for users. It's an episode that lasts 43 minutes and is available simultaneously with its English summary version.Hosted by Ausha. See ausha.co/privacy-policy for more information.
Australian meatworks certified under the industry's welfare certification scheme will now have to install video surveillance systems to ensure safety and welfare standards are upheld. It comes after the Australian Meat Industry Council rejected similar calls by advocacy groups last year. The move has been welcomed by animal rights groups, but they say more needs to be done.

Federal Workers Compensation Coffee Break Podcast is about all things related to Federal Workers Compensation, FECA, OWCP, DOL & Longshore claim filing as an injured federal worker. The podcast is an educational and informative training on how to navigate the DOL -OWCP claims filing process for all types of injured US government and federal workers. The podcaster has 28 years in assisting with federal workers compensation as a consultant and trainer. The podcast is free and is educational. If you need help with anything related to a federal workers compensation claim...help is just a cup of coffee away. VIDEO SURVEILLANCEInjured federal workers who draw wage loss compensation should assume that investigators associated with the USPS Office of Inspector General (OIG) have covertly filmed them or will film them. This is a very common technique and tool of investigating an OWCP federal injury claim. The Employees' Compensation Appeals Board also known as ECAB, issued a decision on Sept. 26 (Docket 11-863) that addresses a number of issues involving Employee agency. OIG surveillance videotape. All federal injured workers, OWCP approved doctors and/or advocates should be familiar with this important decision. It is important because it addresses a critical distinction between use of surveillance videotape for the purposes of 1) fraud investigation and 2) for claims development.ECAB reviewed this injured workers termination case dispute and reversed the termination on several grounds—two are detailed below: First, the Employee agencyviolated the regulations prohibiting direct contact with the treating physician, 20 CFR 10.506. The Board wrote: It is clear that the agents of the employing establishment took an active, and in some issues decisive, role in developing appellant's claim and building the case for termination of her benefits. The Board finds that OWCP departed from the implementing regulations by relying on evidence obtained through direct contact between agents of the employer and appellant's (injured worker) treating physician… OWCP should have rejected evidence generated by a violation of the applicable regulations. Second, the injured worker was not afforded the required notice regarding the existence of the surveillance video and its intended use for the purpose of obtaining an adverse medical opinion. For more information review the transcript!Dr. Taylor's educational podcast utilizes his experience and history as a DOL - OWCP provider and his years of consulting and teaching all things federal workers compensation related. There are so many changes in the automotive industry; underpinning those changes seems to be the ability to harness data. From your video footage to call recording to the customer profiles in your CRM and DMS, your data house is flowing with the data capable of supporting just about any metric you could imagine. Yet our ability to efficiently access and harness that data presents a real and immediate concern within the automotive space. As our industry rapidly shifts, we are increasingly at risk to the outside forces anxious for that same access. So how do we take advantage of the information at our fingertips? This week on the Dealer Talk Podcast, we have the distinct pleasure of discussing this topic with Spot.ai cofounder Sud Bahtija. Sud and spot.ai aim to take data to the next level with video intelligent software designed for the automotive space. We record hours and hours of footage every day yet cannot properly implement that information for use at a store level. Video monitoring and IoT use is on the rise with 5G being rolled out. In addition, security teams are turning to monitoring as buildings continue to be empty due to COVID-19 restrictions. The monitoring goal is to keep the areas secure. The Cybersecurity element of the monitoring should also be secured, or data could be stolen and access disrupted. Prosegur USA's Director of IoT Greg Kuhn joins the episode to discuss both video monitoring and how the devices are secured digitally.
