Those charges stem from his attempts to overturn the election, interfering with the election results in Georgia, falsifying business records in New York, including hush money payments to porn star Stormy Daniels, and mishandling classified records after leaving the presidency.He's been fined hundreds of millions of dollars so far, and his financial empire is jeopardized to the point that he's hawking a garish line of gold sneakers for $399 a pair – that he says Black people should like because they love sneakers.But what's ahead for Donald Trump?When those court cases are all finished, will he serve even one day in prison? What if he's convicted of a felony? He would be unable to vote for himself, but could serve as President, says David H. It can be found under Amateur Sleuth mystery and murder thriller. I would classify it as an Adventure bookended by Amateur Sleuth. Archeologist Barrington “Barry” Holmes is dead. With a slit wrist, the police rule it suicide. Holmes's protégé, Matthew Shane, former Air Force Intelligence and current professor of law, calls bullshit. The path to resolving Holmes's death puts him face-to-face with a voodoo curse, a notorious antiquities dealer and a three hundred-and fifty-year-old promise between the leader of the Aztec people and the famous Englishman, Captain Henry Morgan. Bottom line: DEADLY DEPTHS is for you if you like treasure hunts, a jumble of altruistic, self-serving, and devious characters, and murder of the lowest degree. Strengths of the story. There are several things to love about DEADLY DEPTHS. First in my book is the treasure seeking adventure. Lovers of Indiana Jones stories, “National Treasure”, and “The DaVinci Code” will enjoy the mix of folk lore, voodoo, pirates, and the potential of a treasure of incomparable value. The clues are cryptic yet meaningful. The locations are grounded in real history. The characters are distinct and true to their nature—for good or for bad.The pacing is strong. Once picked up, this is a hard one to put down. While this story does not have the time deadline common in this genre, there is a sense of being up against a ticking clock. For most of the book, there is a sense of an unseen hand manipulating the situation, creating the feeling of a race but against an invisible competitor. .Where the story fell short of ideal: As noted, this story crosses genres. It stands strongly but readers focusing on only one of the genres may find areas for complaining. The story begins as an Amateur Sleuth, creating the impetus for starting the Adventure. Then Adventure takes over, driving most of the book. Only after the Adventure is nearing completion is the original mystery resolved. Adverture lovers could scoff at the time to get the Adventure going. Mystery lovers could do the same for pursuit of the murder. If those genre-specific expectations are put aside, DEADLY DEPTHS is a very satisfying read.That wraps up this Toe Tag of...

Nancy Perpall began her professional career as a critical care nurse working in the Emergency Room and the Intensive Care Unit. While practicing nursing, she published articles in nursing journals and co-authored a textbook, Advanced Concepts in Clinical Nursing (J.B. Lippincott, 1974). She entered Villanova Law School in her early 30's, and after graduating, Nancy practiced Family Law. Nancy was appointed by the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania as Chair of the State's Domestic Relations Rules Committee and presented seminars to lawyers and judges and published widely in that field. How can we manage the ethical challenges faced in business?On this special episode of the show, I'm speaking to Professor Josephine Nelson, the co-author of a brand new book called ‘Business Ethics: What Everyone Needs To Know'. Josephine — who publishes as JS Nelson — is a Professor of Business Ethics (Law) at Villanova Law School and is currently a visiting professor at Harvard business school. Michelle Jacobs is an emeritus professor of law at the University of Florida College of Law, and was the Racial Justice Term Professor for the 2020-2021 academic year. She taught Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure, White Collar Crime, International Criminal Law and Critical Race Theory. Her scholarship focuses on access to justice for communities marginalized in and by the law. In particular, she concentrates on Black women's experience with violence perpetrated by the state. Her work highlights the plight of Black women criminalized by the state for daring to protect their own lives against intimate partner violence, as well as the invisibility of Black women's struggle against all forms of police violence. She is a frequent media commentator on racial bias in the criminal justice system, and on police violence, particularly as it relates to police murders and sexual assaults of Black women and girls. In addition, she gives frequent interviews to the press in on Critical Race Theory. Taunya Lovell Banks is the Professor Emerita and former Jacob A. France Professor of Equality Jurisprudence at the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law. As a leading expert in antidiscrimination law and critical race theory, she writes about race and identity, the impact of skin tone discrimination (colorism), and the intersection of race, gender and class in law. Ruth Gordon is a professor of law at Villanova Law School. Her scholarship focuses on International Law generally, and in particular the Third World encounter with international law. Her forthcoming book, Development Disrupted: The Global South in the 21st Century, will be out in July. Linda Sheryl Greene is Dean and MSU Foundation Professor of Law at Michigan State University College of Law and an elected life member of The American Law Institute. Prior to her career in academia, she was a civil rights and constitutional law attorney at the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, and a Los Angeles Deputy City Attorney who specialized in civil rights and constitutional law and a Counsel to the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee. She was the Chair of the 1990 Wisconsin Conference on Critical Race Theory, President of the Society of American Law Teachers, the founder of the People of Color Legal Scholarship Conference movement, and Vice Chair of the Counsel on Legal Educational Opportunity. You first heard Robert Dunham on Episode 59 of the podcast. Robert Dunham is an attorney and a nationally recognized expert on the death penalty. Before becoming the Death Penalty Information Center's Executive Director, he was one of the leading capital appellate lawyers in Pennsylvania, arguing on behalf of the Commonwealth's death-row inmates in its state and federal courts and in the United States Supreme Court. He served as Executive Director of the former Pennsylvania Capital Case Resource Center from 1994 to 1999; Director of Training of the Capital Habeas Unit of the Philadelphia federal defender's office from 1999 to 2009; and as an assistant federal defender in the Harrisburg federal defender's capital habeas unit from 2009 until March 2015. He started his legal career as a litigation associate at Schnader, Harrison, Segal & Lewis in Philadelphia, where he handled his first pro bono capital case. He previously served five years as a legislative assistant to State Representative Robert W. O'Donnell, later the Speaker of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. He has taught in death penalty training programs offered by national, state and local courts, bar associations, and professional organizations for more than 20 years. He was an adjunct professor of law at Villanova Law School for 11 years, teaching death penalty law, and he has also taught death penalty at Temple Law School and as a visiting scholar at Oklahoma State University. He is a life fellow of the American Bar Foundation and has served on the Steering Committee of the American Bar Association's Death Penalty Representation Project and on the board of directors of the Pennsylvania Innocence Project, the Pennsylvania Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and the Philadelphia crime-victim assistance program, Northwest Victim Services, for whom he also served as Board President. A native of Philadelphia, he received his undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania, where he was a University Scholar in philosophy. He received his law degree from the Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, D.C., where he served as managing editor of the Georgetown Law Journal. At Georgetown, he received the Milton A. Did you realize there are an estimated 45.8 million people held in slavery today. And children represent an estimated 26% of all forced labor victims. India has the largest estimated number of people in slavery, between 10.7 and 12.7 million. As Men of Abundance, we have an obligation to at least bring awareness to this crime on humanity. Our feature guest today, John Rafferty has taken the mission on himself. Today we have that conversation. We also talk about his Premium College Admissions coaching business. John Rafferty studied Philosophy at Boston College, under a full scholarship awarded through the Navy ROTC program. John's interest in advocating on behalf of victims of human trafficking was sparked when Mr. Rafferty served as a Naval Officer in the Middle East. While there, he volunteered with non-profit organizations that sought justice for immigrant workers. His exposure to human trafficking influenced his decision to go to law school. Following his Naval service, Mr. Rafferty was awarded a full scholarship to Villanova Law School as a Public Interest Scholar. Upon graduation, Mr. Rafferty moved to Ecuador for 10 months to conduct field research as a Fulbright Fellow. There he studied the scope of human trafficking in the country’s three largest cities. As an Assistant District Attorney in Chester County, John Rafferty prosecutes crimes including sex crimes, homicide, and human trafficking. He uses this position to serve as a voice for victims of violence and commercial exploitation. In his free time, John is starting a live-debate series, getting ready to launch a podcast, and managing a premium college admissions coaching business for promising high school students. China has declared “war on pollution” with several new environmental laws and the willingness to take action against climate change.  Awareness of the severe and lingering environmental problems in China is increasing, both domestically and externally.  Does this truly mean that China will finally take meaningful, active steps to combat air, water and land pollution, or are the initiatives merely aspirational with other issues continuing to take precedence despite much promising rhetoric?  In this podcast, Myanna Dellinger interviews three law professors with unique insight into Chinese environmental law and its potential enforcement. Joseph W. Dellapenna is a Professor of Law at Villanova Law School.  His research focuses on water management (national and international) and international and comparative law.  He has previously taught at several universities in the United States and abroad.  He is the only person ever to be a Fulbright Senior Lecturer in Law in both the People’s Republic of China and the Republic of China.  Professor Dellapenna has also served as a consultant to numerous private entities and foreign governments, including the World Bank, the Harry S. Truman Research Institute for the Advancement of Peace of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, the People’s Republic of China, as well as the Republic of China.  Professor Dellapenna lived for two years in China and still returns several times a year for professional purposes.  He lived in China for two years and speaks Mandarin. Joel A. Mintz is a Professor of Law at Nova Southeastern Law Center where he has taught courses related to environmental law since 1983. Before entering academia, Professor Mintz was an enforcement attorney and chief attorney with the EPA in Chicago and Washington, D.C. Widely viewed as one of the nation’s leading legal academic experts on environmental enforcement, Joel Mintz has testified before the United States Congress on the subject and published three books and numerous book contributions and law review articles regarding it. Professor Mintz is also the author or co-author of six other books regarding environmental law, sustainability, and municipal debt financing. He is a recipient of several awards for his work as an attorney, teacher and scholar.  He is also an elected member of the American Law Institute and a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation. Alex Wang is an Assistant Professor of Law at UCLA School of Law.  His research focuses on Chinese law, politics, and environmental regulation. Professor Wang previously served as senior attorney for the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) in Beijing and as the founding director of NRDC’s China Environmental Law & Governance Project. In this capacity, he worked with China’s government agencies, legal community, and environmental groups to improve the environmental rule of law and strengthen the role of the public in environmental protection.  He helped to establish NRDC’s Beijing office in 2006. He was a Fulbright Fellow to China from 2004-05. Professor Wang was a fellow of the National Committee on United States-China Relations (2008-10) and is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and the Advisory Board to the Asia Society’s Center on U.S.-China Relations.
