In this episode of the Integrated Wisdom Podcast, host Tatiana welcomes clinical psychologist, schema therapist, and breathwork practitioner Dannielle Kurr for a soulful conversation about spiritual transformation. Dannielle shares her profound journey through spirituality, with a particular focus on how motherhood served as a powerful catalyst for her spiritual awakening.Episode Highlights:Transformative Birth Experiences: Dannielle describes her two childbirth experiences as spiritual initiations, with her second birth culminating in what she describes as an orgasmic, peak experience that connected her to something greater than herself.Early Spiritual Influences: The loss of her father at age three created an early need to make sense of life's bigger questions, while her university studies in both psychology and Eastern religions revealed powerful parallels between these disciplines.Breathwork as a Spiritual Tool: Following a suggestion from her doula, Danielle discovered how breathwork could access similar transformative states she experienced during childbirth, including kundalini-like energy rising through her body.A Non-Pathologizing Approach to Mental Health: Dannielle shares her perspective that many mental health challenges represent "our souls signaling to wake up" rather than pathologies to be fixed.Professional Integration: She discusses how integrating spirituality into her clinical practice helps prevent burnout by recognizing there are larger forces at work and that "life happens for you, not to you."Book Recommendations: Dannielle recommends "The Stormy Search for Self" by Stanislav Grof and "Falling Forward" by Richard Rohr for listeners interested in exploring spirituality further.Dannielle can be reached on Instagram @affectivepsychology_breathI am so excited to announce that my SOLD OUT ‘The Conscious Therapist' course will be running again in May 2025. We'll cover: Ancestral postpartum wisdom: What we can learn from our foremothers about healing and care after birth. Reconnecting with feminine wisdom: Embracing our cyclical nature and the concept of “rewilding” for women and mothers. The science and energetics of breastfeeding: How breast health connects to the heart and detox systems. Practical breastfeeding guidance: On-demand feeding, co-sleeping, and overcoming common challenges. The importance of care and nurture: Why receiving support is essential in the journey of motherhood. + SO MUCH MORE! About Krista: Krista is an experienced Registered Nurse specializing in postpartum wellness and she is International Board Certified Lactation Consultant with a BA in Social and Behavioral Sciences. She is also a certified Innate Postpartum Care Provider which is care from the perspective of traditional teachings of midwifery, woven together with the modern sciences of Epigenetics, Pre and Perinatal Psychology, the Primal Continuum, Psychoneuroimmunology, Woman-Centered Physiology and Anatomy, Somatic Psychology and Neurobiology. Through her years of experience working in Mother/Baby care in multiple hospitals throughout California, she has witnessed the power women have at the most vulnerable time of their lives. Krista's experience of watching and working with women giving birth to new life, feeling love and loss, and embracing the highs and lows of the transition into motherhood, she has identified that these these rights of passage that happen in women are powerful and deserve acknowledgment. Birth is so much more than the physical act of birth - a powerful emotional and spiritual shift takes place and when a child is born, so is a mother. Krista is honored to walk with women through these shifts and has been moved to encourage her patients to embrace them openly and fully. These transformational experiences have opened her eyes to the importance of conscious health care and postpartum wellness. Teaching women to find guidance through informed choice, community, and within themselves has become her mission. She believes that when women are educated and empowered, our wellness can be an intuitive art. Krista loves making herbal infusions, spending time in nature, being in the ocean, traveling, meditating and teaching women about connecting to our natural cycles and traditional postpartum healing modalities. He shares his personal journey of discovering the harms of circumcision and his passion for advocating against it. The conversation explores the cultural and societal factors that contribute to the continuation of circumcision, as well as the physical and psychological impacts it has on individuals. The importance of informed consent and questioning societal norms is emphasized. The conversation also touches on the comparison between male and female genital cutting and the need for greater accountability and change in medical practices. The conversation explores the ethical arguments against male circumcision and the importance of bodily autonomy. It highlights the cultural programming and societal norms that influence people's perspectives on circumcision. The discussion emphasizes the need for men to shift their perspective and see circumcision as something that happened to them, not as an immutable part of their identity. It also touches on the importance of uncomfortable conversations and conflict resolution in relationships. The conversation concludes with advice for parents who are deciding whether or not to circumcise their child.TakeawaysCircumcision is a topic that requires education and awareness, as it impacts every person in America in some way. There is a disproportionate lack of public conversation about circumcision, despite its personal and societal implications.Circumcision removes 50% of the shaft skin of the penis, the highest density nerve endings, and is often done without anesthesia, causing lasting changes in behavior and sexuality.Circumcision is an irreversible and painful procedure that should be approached with informed consent and consideration of the physical and psychological impacts. There is a need for greater accountability and change in medical practices surrounding circumcision, as well as a reevaluation of cultural and societal norms. The comparison between male and female genital cutting highlights the need for consistent ethical standards and the recognition of individual autonomy and bodily integrity. Male circumcision raises ethical questions and challenges the concept of bodily autonomy.Cultural programming and societal norms influence people's perspectives on circumcision.Men need to shift their perspective and see circumcision as something that happened to them, not as an immutable part of their identity.Uncomfortable conversations and conflict resolution are important skills to develop in relationships.Parents should consider their values and the impact of their decisions on their child's bodily autonomy.Proper care for intact genitals is simple and does not require any special procedures. Please feel free to reach out to us with any recommendations for show episode ideas. ORIGINAL AIR DATE: March 31, 2017There have been dozens of documented cases where the recipient of a transplant, often involving the heart, apparently take on the personalities of the organ donor. Recipients also report memories of the donor, and memories that belong to the donor, despite never having met the donor. These cases range from very young children to adults. How can memories and behaviors be transmitted from one person to the next when brain and neural tissue is not involved? Does this phenomenon relate to the question of consciousness?Source articles for the episode:B. Bunzel, B. Schmidl-Mohl, A. Grundböck and G. Perinatal psychologist Yara Heary shares her two birth stories and interweaves her professional insights to form a rich (and extra long) episode. In her first pregnancy she attended an education class about birth options and, after choosing community midwives for her care, she birthed at home. She talks at length about her challenging breastfeeding experience, relationship challenges in new parenthood and the importance of a safe space to talk through her thoughts and feelings in postpartum. Her second pregnancy was unplanned, hence she had to do a lot of therapy to come to a place of acceptance and excitement. This episode is brimming with honesty about the inherent challenges of motherhood and the fact that joy and grief coexist - in pregnancy, postpartum and parenthood.  --------------------- Prepare for a positive birth experience with my new book .

Kate White is a somatic trauma resolution therapist, Biodynamic craniosacral and advanced bodyworker specializing in prenatal and perinatal therapies. She specializes in healing early trauma by helping people work through and resolve the adaptive strategies initiated in their earliest years of life. Throughout her career Kate has helped to "educate professionals and the public, worldwide, that a baby's experience of conception, pregnancy, and birth creates lifelong consequences for individuals, families, and society."  In this episode Kate gives us an overview of pre and perinatal care, her skillset in presence and reading the space between people, and the influence of pioneers in the field Ray Castellino and William Emerson. We discuss the body as memory, and the layers and imprints of pre-conception, pre-natal and birthing trauma. She shares the commonality of the "double bind" and a "stuck place" in life as a result of inherited or birth trauma. We consider the regularity of ancestral imprints and their effect on the family system. Kate addresses the importance of our self-healing, and how treating a baby is in fact treating the whole family. She also shares her insights with regards to best birthing practices such as midwifery, the role of a birth doula, and extended support of the broader family.  Since 1999, Kate has studied alongside many of the pioneers in prenatal and perinatal trauma healing, with extensive education in anatomy, physiology, neuroscience, embryology, interpersonal neurobiology, craniosacral biodynamics and somatic experiencing. She is Founder and former Director of the Department of Education for Prenatal and Perinatal Psychology and Health, and offers online training in both Prenatal and Perinatal Dynamics. Her work combines somatic therapy with brain development to help give families with babies and small children the best possible start. www.belvederearts.comLiked what you heard? Jullie maken The Trueman Show en onze groei mogelijk!

We also, both share our in-utero and birth experiences and Annie provides some case studies from her over 4 decades of experience.
