Well HEY! Welcome back to another sweet episode! This one was a long time coming and I really love everything we get into here. The Divine Feminine, Intuition and Authenticity are such a huge part of my coaching practice and definitely a frame I like to think in for everyday life. Allow me to introduce Bella Solanot to you: Bella Solanot is a writer, speaker, and podcaster focused on helping people use communication, self-actualization, and spirituality to create a more conscious existence. In a world of division and polarization, she takes the approach of productive disagreement, dialogue, and nuance to encourage others to embrace a more open-minded way of relating to each other and the world around them. Whether through podcasts, in writing, or on social media, Bella always brings both honesty and levity in the pursuit of expanding the collective consciousness. Here's some of what you can expect to hear about on today's episode of The Searching Soul Podcast: What Is the Divine Feminine / Masculine and Feminine Energies, and What's the Difference / Embodying a More Feminine Approach to Self-Leadership / Morality, Ethics and Disagreement / Western Ideology and Open Conversations / Teaming up with Powerful Women / Becoming More Self-Aware / The Balance Between Authenticity and Flexibility / The Purpose of Bluntness vs. Nuance in Social Situations / The Ego and Identity / Protecting Ourselves from Losing our Love / How to Stay Authentic without Fear / Feminine Independence / Productive Disagreement / Consciousness and Self-Expansion. I was definitely fan-girling about this episode for a while. I came across Bella through a mutal connection, Ray Taffe, who's work we share a similar appriciation of. I resonate with so much Ray has to say, so check her out too. All in all, today's episode was thrilling. If you'd like to keep connecting with Bella or I, check out these links below. we've got mr real soulful back in the building! in today's episode we discuss the thin line between honesty and bluntness, do you have to be blunt to be honest? or is that a cover up for people to simply be rude?
Sorry I was going crazy last video
In this episode Neil talks about saying no. Sometimes we have to say no for the betterment of our mental health and to guard our wealth but often saying no can be difficult and socially awkward. How and when should we say no to save ourselves from taking on tasks which disadvantage our resources? KEY TAKEAWAYS We can say yes to the wrong thing, job or person and quickly get out of our depth. We must get good at saying no and not replying yes by default. Pause when presented with an opportunity or request. Look a few years ahead and see if it will affect your real goals. Will it eat up your time or money? Will it require you to compromise your standards or ideals? Bluntness is the clearest way of communicating but you can be careful with your refusal to save hurting feelings. You can always point them in them in the direction of someone who can help. BEST MOMENTS ‘Saying no to people can make us feel uncomfortable. We are perhaps afraid we might hurt their feelings or we might say not to a “bright shiny penny” of an idea that looks great but might just leave us in the wrong place.' ‘Perhaps a better tack is “not yet” or “not now”. You could say “that's not really what I do so I'm out of the game on this one”.' ‘There are always loads of ways to say no. Be creative. Be courageous.' Episode Notes This week your illustrious hosts Carla and Delia kick off the episode by discussing career transitions (Congrats Carla! And if anyone needs to buy or sell some property, holler at your girl!) and Delia who is googly eyed about this week’s book (and the ENTIRE freaking title), “He’s Just Not That Into You: The No-Excuses Truth to Understanding Guys *The Newly Expanded Edition” by Greg Behrendt and Liz Tuccillo. After going through the correct pronunciation of the author’s names, Delia imparts that ‘twer she the Captain of The World this book would be mandatory reading. The book touches on the pitfalls of dating and step by step goes through the excuses that men offer as to why they aren’t calling or making plans and bottom line, they just aren’t that into you.As an easy read with a conversational writing style it hit a chord prior books have not. The tone is that of a protective brother or close male friend. And while the info is good (albeit dated, like the answering machine on the cover) the exercises were a little too tongue in cheek and not for anyone seeking a deep examination of their behavior. Delia touches on examining the importance of what one feels they deserve. Spoiler alert, it’s a better plan than a text at 9pm asking what she’s up to for the evening. Carla shares that the way to her heart is a plan. And not the 9pm text variety. The ladies get into some of the common excuses given by dudes including the busy myth. (And a host of others) At the end of the day, if guys want to pursue, they will pursue. The girls talk about the lure of unavailable men with the exception of the subset of polyamory. Carla and Delia agree, it’s just not their flavor. Your hosts get real about the willful ignoring of excuses/warning signs and getting caught up in relationship potential.Carla shares a story about a friend who calls bullshit on this book and how it almost destroyed his relationship with his now husband. Proving that there is exceptions to every rule. Sometimes he is that into you but he’s also worked a double shift and is fucking tired.Mentioned in the episode: “He’s Just Not That Into You: The No-Excuses Truth to Understanding Guys *The Newly Expanded Edition” by Greg Behrendt and Liz Tuccillo (Copyright © 2004, 2006 by Greg Behrendt and Liz Tuccillo, Published by: Gallery Books, A Division of Simon & Schuster, Inc. What's Your Story: How Leaders Tell Stories to Influence and Connect with Audiences
Randy Donaldson has been a leading business communicator for more than four decades. He has held a variety of leadership positions across the communications spectrum and has spent most of his career advising CEOs and business unit leaders. He has led media relations, internal and executive communications, both in the U.S. and internationally. Randy’s expertise is creating communication strategies that drive employee engagement and corporate performance across organizations. On today’s episode, we’ll be discussing the importance of clear communication, challenges faced by leaders in conveying genuine leadership, and how leaders can improve their communication skills. All too often, we see leaders fall into discussing their area of expertise or relying on their tools and datasets—a practice that pulls the audience out of the experience. Customers need a clear story that resonates with their wants, needs, and expectations in order to stand firmly behind a brand. Companies seeking to stand the test of time must communicate clearly and provide a clear set of values and intentions that customers can rally around—give them a definite sense of greater purpose. 6:20 - How can leaders effectively read the room? Do tools harm presentations more than they help? 7:30 - How do you address a customer’s wants, needs, and feelings while involving them in something larger than themselves? 8:30 - Are listeners more likely to challenge authority sources now than five years ago? 9:00 - Donaldson affirms that leadership legitimacy is built over time, but it can be started and accelerated in single instances. 10:15 - How does corporate language affect employees at difficult times? Bluntness? 13:20 - Leadership should have some origins within the organization being led. 15:00 - Leaders have to invest their time in crafting their own story. How does using a fabricated story impact their appearance? 17:40 - Randy notes that some personality types tend to excel at storytelling from the beginning, but can others readily be coached? 25:40 - Stories tend to convey information better and increase retention. 27:30 - Simplicity should be at the heart of business. If customers can't understand a business, they struggle to support it. https://www.linkedin.com/in/randaldonaldson

Episode 68: The Trifecta of Bluntness
An effective, clear and concise communication is essential in life, whether it is in relationships at home, the workplace, interactions during travels, day to day activities. Communication is more than just the spoken word, it also includes nonverbal communication, such as eye contact, body language, also the vibes that you transmit, the message you get across in a variety of different ways without saying anything. In this podcast, we focus on the polarity between blunt or direct and diplomatic communication. The base of any communication ideally is respect for the other person and a healthy level of curiosity about other perspectives. A respectful and direct style of communication creates a trustful and understanding foundation for communication, an essential skill wherever you are, irrespective of your position. A direct style of communication can easily turn into bluntness, especially when we experience a lack of energy when we are angry, under pressure or feel our boundaries are threatened. Bluntness will result in disengagement, defiance, and resentment in the workforce. It creates constant tension, blocks risk taking and is one of the reasons for reduced productivity and a higher turn-over rate. Therefore, a good EQ level and self-awareness help in self-management and evaluation. A few suggestions on how to reduce bluntness in communication: Bluntness is charged with emotions and destructive, clear communication is measured and encourages a resolution. A reflective question could be, “What has been the trigger for me to reacting so bluntly?” We all have our own projections, thoughts, opinions, fears, and concerns that we bring into a conversation. Most of us are more focused on how the other person makes us feel when engaging in a conversation. Spend time on establishing a good rapport before focusing on the information that needs to be communicated. This rapport starts already before we speak the first words. Self-awareness is the key, especially when it comes to sensing into the space we are in. Are we calm, or already irritated before we start the conversation? In case of the latter, body posture, the face, the vibes will tell more than any words we speak. Use some breathing techniques or practice some mudras to calm yourself before stepping into a conversation. Achieving results is what leaders are paid for. In the German language, there is a saying that is literally and figuratively translated as falling with the door into the house. Coming straight to the point without taking the time to feel and sense into your counterpart will very likely close the door before you can even open it. Continuous bluntness reduces chances to move up the leadership ladder. If this is what you are struggling with, it is worth examining what the unconscious triggers are and how to resolve them.
