Speaker: Dane BurgessScripture: Hebrews 13:20-25Episode Overview:As the book of Hebrews comes to a close, the author does not leave believers with a checklist, but with a benediction—a prayer rooted in what God has already done and is still doing through Jesus Christ. Hebrews 13:20–25 reveals the “bookends” of the Christian life: unchanging realities that hold faith steady and guard against slow spiritual drift. Grounded in the resurrection of Jesus, this passage reminds us that the Christian life is not sustained by human effort, but by God's faithful work from beginning to end. This sermon explores how God initiates salvation, how Christ continually shepherds His people, how the Spirit actively equips believers for obedience, and how grace surrounds the entire life of faith. Together, these truths anchor believers in hope, assurance, and perseverance as they walk with Christ.Key Highlights:• The resurrection of Jesus Christ as the unshakable foundation of the Christian life• God as the initiator of salvation, acting first to bring life from death• Jesus Christ as the great Shepherd who sustains His people through the blood of the eternal covenant• The ongoing work of the Holy Spirit, equipping believers to do God's will• Grace as God's final word—present, personal, and sufficient for every seasonCall to Action:Reflect honestly on where you may be drifting toward self-reliance, self-sustaining faith, or self-driven change. Return to the benediction of Hebrews 13 and receive it as a present reality: God is at work in you right now. Rest in what He has begun, trust Christ to shepherd you, submit to the Spirit's transforming work, and walk forward anchored in grace rather than effort.Redeemer Church211 Northshore Dr. Bellingham, WA 98226www.redeemernw.org

Send us a textHi everybody and welcome to today's episode of Attendance Bias. I am your host, Brian Weinstein. I have a feeling that, pretty soon, I'm going to have to rename this podcast “Recency Bias,” since I've received a ton of requests from people who want to come on the show and talk about shows from Phish's 2025 summer tour. Not that it hasn't happened before, but there was something about this tour that awakened the fanbase. People who saw Phish for the first time, or the 200th time are eager to talk about 2025. Luckily, for today's episode, my friends Casey and Jenn have a great story to tell, as we explore their summer through bookends of the 2025 tour. We review the third night of the opening run in Manchester, June 22, 2024 then fast forward to the tour closing show: night three at Saratoga, 7/27/25.If you are a regular listener, you may remember Casey and Jenn from their preview of the SNHU Arena in Manchester during the summer venue preview series. They both live in Manchester, and decided to get married before night 1 of that run. That obviously made the night special in its own way, but it wasn't until the third night of Manchester where Phish dropped a Tweezerfest in the 2nd set where everything clicked musically. Then there's the third night of SPAC where Phish played one of the most memorable shows in years. The first set caught everyone off guard as the band blended great, cohesive jamming with unprecedented setlist games, playing Tweezer Reprise to end nearly every song. Although the venue was still standing as we left, our minds were shattered in the best ways possible. It's not often that the first and last stands of a summer tour have the same energy and memorable personalities, but 2025 is the gift that keeps on giving. Join Casey and Jenn to hear about baked beans, Lee's Campground, bingo boards, and more as we discuss Summer 2025 bookends from Manchester and Saratoga. Support the show

How tough was it to pick our "album bookends" this week (that is, albums that have a great first and last track)? You could say that's impossible, that's im-poss-i-ble. But, fortunately, we're everywhere that you are! We're un-alone for this discussion, because (if you couldn't have guessed) we have guitarist/singer/songwriter Steve Barton and drummer Dave Scheff from one of the best American bands of the '80s, Translator! Translator released four excellent albums for 415/Columbia: Heartbeats and Triggers (1982), No Time Like Now (1983), Translator (1985), and Evening of the Harvest (1986). At the end of their initial run, they played a final gig at the Farm in their home base of San Francisco. Captured on a cassette, nearly 40 years later, that incendiary live set is out for the first time on download, LP, or CD as Beyond Today: Live at the Farm San Francisco: 1986. from Liberation Hall. https://translatorlive.bandcamp.com As an added treat for fans, Beyond Today also contains two brand new Translator songs, "These Days to Come" and "With Your Dreams", both wonderfully mixed by Ed Stasium. This week, Bookends is revisiting the Mirrors series. It's a CBC Books special featuring winners of the 2024 Governor General's Literary Awards. The English-language books that won last year's awards demonstrate how stories help us reflect on our lives and see the world in new ways. In this special series, CBC Books asked the winners to further explore the power of reflection in original works. The new works are centred around the theme of mirrors and challenge how we see ourselves, explore alternative identities and blur the lines between reality and fantasy. This episode is hosted by Talia Schlanger. It features Canadian authors Li Charmaine Anne, Caleigh Crow, Katia Grubisic, Niigaanwewidam Sinclair, Todd Stewart and Chimwemwe Undi. You can learn more about the winners at cbcbooks.ca.
