When Football Is Football is part of the Sports History Network - The Headquarters For Sports Yesteryear.EPISODE SUMMARYSince the Arizona Cardinals are the NFL's oldest team, with roots extending back to 1899, there are many examples of unusual plays, strange accomplishments, and perhaps odd statistics! Most of this stuff has been relegated to history, and remains hidden on yellowed newspapers or dusty microfilm. In other words, once the game or experience is over, we're likely never to hear about these occurrences again. As the months and years pass, the information becomes buried, if not simply forgotten. And many of these brief situations that were once in the spotlight soon completely fade, and probably deserve that fate!Read the entire episode blog post and check out some other cool info regarding this episode here.WHEN FOOTBALL WAS FOOTBALL BACKGROUNDEach episode takes the listener back to the very early days of the National Football League. Author Joe Ziemba will share a forgotten or lost story from one of the NFL's two oldest teams: The Bears and the Cardinals. Team championships, individual exploits, or long-buried items of interest from the earliest years of the NFL will be dusted off and resurrected for the listener. Not for the football faint-of-heart since these programs will document when the struggling Bears nearly went out of business or when Cardinals' players earned $15 a game and were proud of it! It's NFL history—with a twist!. Hitting a brick wall. It can mean a number of things. Brick walls can hinder forward progress because something gets in the way. So brick walls can be literal brick walls or figurative, like something is holding things back. We all have probably ran into a few brick walls during our life, possibly both kinds. One thing is for certain, life presents us all with a brick wall or two. Joshua was the leader of the people of Israel who had spent 40 years in the desert headed to their future. He had just completed getting them across the Jordan River into Canaan. They crossed the river across from a fortified city called Jericho. It was the mother of all brick walled cities. Scripture says that the walls were up to the sky. With instructions from God, Joshua faced the walls and overcame them. See what you can do when you hit a brick wall.

Amazing post found again to help give me a little perspective when I needed it. From Napoleon Hill - "If you can look at problems as temporary setbacks and stepping-stones to success, you will come to believe that the only limitations you have are the ones in your own mind."  This reminded me not only that I put limitations on myself, but I usually build them into brick walls.  I'm learning to start using less bricks and maybe even stop building them in the first place.  Thanks for listening.  Please take a few moments to subscribe & share this with someone, also leave a 5 Star rating on Apple Podcasts and ITunes or other services where you find this show.  Find me on Facebook:  https://www.facebook.com/coachtoexpectsuccess/   on Twitter / “X”:  @coachtosuccess   and on Instagram at:  @coachjohndaly  - My YouTube Channel is at: Coach John Daly.   Email me at: CoachJohnDalyPodcast@gmail.com     You can also head on over to https://www.coachtoexpectsuccess.com/ and get in touch with me there on my homepage along with checking out my Top Book list too.  Other things there on my site are being worked on too.  Please let me know that you are reaching out to me from my podcast.

“You have no clue what is going on with me, you just don't understand what I'm going through!” If you have been on the receiving end of a statement like that from an emotional teenager, then you know how much raw emotion and frustration can come with those words. That sounds like an over-exaggerated statement spoken out of severe frustration, but if your adolescent child is saying that to you, it is probably one of the most truthful things that has come out of their mouths since they turned thirteen.  Here is a common statement you may hear from the general public about teenagers; “it's so difficult to be a teenager today.” While that is an accurate statement, most people stop there in their analysis because if we are honest, we really don't know WHY it's so hard. We all agree that things are getting tougher for teens seemingly every day, but very few of us have spent enough time in that world to really unpack what makes it so tough. We tend to project our own adolescent experience on to a generation that has had to deal with a barrage of social media platforms and influences, Covid-19 shutdowns, unprecedented social change, and a world that is constantly communicating that their worth is tied to who they are socially.   One of the most important things you must keep in mind if you are a parent of a teenager is, the social pressure that young people are facing today is 100 times harder than it was when we were growing up. Social media threw gas on an already pressure packed dynamic. In this podcast we take a look at what's really going on in that world. So, if you ever struggle with talking to your teenager, whether you're a parent, educator or youth leader, you are going to really enjoy this episode—the second in this series with Mike Donahue, an experienced practitioner who has over 25 years of constant exposure to young people in school assemblies and trainings. As we make efforts to move forward in life, remind yourself, we have a few brick walls that just don't move. Fear, doubt, procrastination and distractions. Brick walls will not move for us to remain comfortable nor for our convenience. They cannot jump into or find a way into your life, you surely can run right into them. As long as we know that, we won't give them more credit or allow them more room in our lives than they deserve. All podcast episodes and content on this platform will correlate to the following cornerstones:BeliefConfidencePreparationPerformanceI thank you for your support. There are times when we only have an ancestor's name to work with in the coyrse of our family research; especially if your ancestral history is filled with one name ancestors (e.g. enslaved ancestors).Understanding your family's naming conventions - among your different ancestral lines - can give you major clues to work with when it comes to pushing your family's story back further. For enslaved African-descended people in America, who were forbidden from reading and writing, the names they chose for their children were ladden with their family's history...and clues you can work with.Have you ever wondered how a person got their name? How about why there are so many Augustus, Carrie, Janie, and Alphonso in one family? With women in particular, if you only have a first name to go by, her first name can be a vital clue to her family connection. Where Are Your Brick Walls?

So where are your brick walls in your life? Is it in the area of business productivity or maybe it's in your health and fitness? How many times have you wanted to move forward with some goal in life…and yet you just keep banging your head against that brick wall? Listen…I feel your pain BIG TIME on this challenge of life. So that's why I wanted to share how an example of how I am smashing to bits a brick wall in my life with a new morning routine. You see…off and on for years…my morning routine was completely non-existent. Nada. Zero. Nothing. So every morning I would hit the snooze button 7 times until I HAD to get up no matter what. That would leave me like 12 minutes to get dressed, brush teeth etc. and maybe…mabye…grab a quick crappy breakfast. Guess how that worked out? Like absolute crap. I would rush out the door feeling overwhelmed, highly stressed and tons of anxiety coursing through my veins. Oh yeah…rocking start to the day right? lol You see my brick wall was that I wasn't investing in myself first in the mornings. I would not dedicate the first hour or two upon waking up to me and what was good for my success. So listen in to how my new morning routine is setting the stage for progress and growth in many areas of life. Who knows..maybe you can adopt this same routine for yourself. Or at least it will inspire the fire within you to create your own. Mucho gracias to our buddy Adam Holland this weekend for helping inspire this episode by using this brick wall term. Definitely opened my eyes a bit wider not only with marketing, but overall lifestyle. So let's knock down some walls folks!!! BOOM! Gratitude is the Attitude that Gives Our Dreams Altitude!!!
