Listen to today's podcast... I would never have imagined that one day that I, Beverly, would be a public speaker. I hated giving presentations. When I was younger I struggled with stress and public speaking. My voice would quiver. I would speak a mile a minute. My nervousness was obvious. Some people report that they would rather be naked in public than have to deliver a speech to their peers. I would have absolutely agreed with this statement. The stress was unbelievable and public speaking was best to be avoided whenever possible. Take One Action Today To Build Your #Resiliency! Here are today's Tips For Building Resiliency and Celebrating Professional Speaker's Day: Public Speaking Advice: You don't need to be perfect. You just need to be able to deliver your message effectively. What I learned was that speaking effectively in public and professionally is rarely a natural talent, but it is one that can be learned. When you have a passion for your topic, and you immerse yourself in that topic to become an expert, the stress becomes secondary to the message that you want and need to deliver. Remember that your audience really does want you to be successful and they are all that truly matters. I am proud to be a professional speaker. Have you been experiencing conflict within your team? Do you want to avoid unnecessary conflict? Do you want to turn that wasted time with conflict into productive time instead? Conflict happens and it's normal, but not facing it and prolonging the problem is bad and should be avoided. The time wasted with conflict could be turned into productive time that could furthermore strengthen relationships and build a better and strong foundation for your business. Charmaine Hammond works with organizations and teams who want to effectively resolve conflict, build resilient teams, and work better together. She also shares some tips and tricks on how to approach conflict without assuming. What you will learn from this episode: ● Learn how to avoid unnecessary conflict within your team ● Know more on how to handle and face conflict before it becomes a bigger problem ● Discover why conflicts are a waste of time and progress “We make so many assumptions in conflict, and the large majority of them are wrong. We assign meaning to what somebody's nonverbal really meant, and it's usually wrong, and we assign meaning to how we're reacting. “ - Charmaine Hammond Valuable Free Resource: Charmaine's Teams Working Better Together Ebook! A: For us to ask ourselves that question in our head. Key Takeaways: “When you can deal with it quicker and effectively, of course, but quicker, it allows less opportunity for conflict to take on many different faces in the workplace so that leaders can actually spend their time leading, and not necessarily having to navigate through all the people issues.” - Charmaine Hammond “If you can think about why am I reacting this way, pause, take a breath, and then clarify the assumption with the person by asking an open-ended question that starts with who, what, where, when, why, or how. What that does is it shifts the conversation from being, I'm gonna use the word 'positional' or where you feel like you have to be defending yourself to more of an exploration or an open conversation.” - Charmaine Hammond Ways to Connect with Charmaine Hammond: ● Website: http://charmainehammond.com/ Ways to Connect with Sarah E. During this global health crisis, humor can be a way of boosting immunity by elevating your mood, a topic explored on Tuesday's "The Extra". Humor has been found to have short-term and long-term health benefits, such as: stimulation of organs via enhanced intake of oxygen during laughter; increased release of endorphins; lowered heart rate and blood pressure; release of stress-fighting neuropeptides; and easing of depression symptoms. Host Shannon Brinias and her guest Bill Stainton discussed strategies for utilizing humor as a coping mechanism, as well as the need for people to apply innovative thinking to their everyday lives. Stainton is a Certified Professional Speaker inducted into the speakers' association Hall of Fame, as well as a 29-time Emmy Award winner for "Almost Live", a weekly comedy show. Stainton writes a frequent blog discussing these topics. More information can be found at BillStainton.com.

Meet Kent Julian Kent Julian is a lot of things... family man, champion swim coach, Certified Professional Speaker, fish taco lover, and proud bald guy. Yet, this hasn't always been the case. Kent started out as an at-risk child with severe learning challenges and SAT scores so low that he had to take Development Studies just to get into college—on probation. From these humble beginnings, Kent went on to become the Executive Director of a national youth association in order to help teenagers just like him. Then, after 20 years in non-profit work, he did something crazy... he launched two successful businesses. Along the way, Kent realized that the successes he experienced were never “his successes.” Each accomplishment came about because of the teams he was privileged to lead. Whether working with millennial students, coaching championship swim teams, or leading his own businesses, success was the result of committed, engaged teams. Now, with his expertise in leadership and employee engagement, he is privileged to speak, write, and consult leaders and teams all over the country on what it takes to create what he calls “DREAM-to-DO” culture. You can find his work online in places like Entrepreneur.com, Success.com, GoodMenProject.com and more. To find out more, visit KentJulian.com. She tells us that skillful mastery of speaking, of giving a presentation, whether to one person, or a large audience, is a quality that will distinguish us, and give us the edge in many endeavors. It's great to start young, and Diane relates how one persistent mother hired Diane to work with a group of 7th grade girls. They ultimately hit the home run in making a presentation. We are using this skill even when we leave a VM for someone. Diane has written a book on the subject: Knockout Presentations. www.knockoutpresentations.com
