Observa combines human observation with artificial intelligence to compile accurate retail marketing data. They compare what a client’s marketing spend (trade spend) is supposed to be getting them to what is actually happening in-store. With a human force of over 275,000 in-store observers, and the technology to turn raw information into usable marketing data, Observa is addressing one of the biggest problems in retail.Whenever a company generates the opportunity to make themselves that indispensable, I want to learn what they are doing and how they do it! That’s why I was excited to talk with Co-Founder and CEO, Hugh Holman, about Observa. I asked him how they built their client base and observer force, how they are leveraging AI and incorporating emerging technologies, and much more. I really enjoyed this conversation. In particular, I loved the story he shared about the early days, when he would personally fly to locations to fulfill service promises. I hope it inspires your business journey, too.Topics In This EpisodeMeeting the needs of clients throughout the U.S. and CanadaThe journey from personally fulfilling client needs to having an observer force of over 275,000Scaling using AI for some of the necessary (previously human) workWho are Observa’s competitors? In today’s episode I had the pleasure of speaking with a husband and wife childbirth instructor team! I had the chance to interview Brent Caldwell and Michelle Gabrielle-Caldwell about their experience teaching the Bradley Method childbirth class. Michelle and Brent have been married since 1997, they always knew they wanted children. Blessed with two great kids, they didn't realize how impactful the birthing experiences were until sharing theirs with friends and family. Michelle's first pregnancy was normal and perfect, she wanted the same for the labor and birth...normal, natural. She took Bradley Method Classes, hired a doula and had a low intervention, natural hospital birth. Second time around she was older and wiser, birth two would be at home on Christmas night...same birth team! Both of them were inspired to teach The Bradley Method and they have been doing so since 2006.Michelle is also a Certified Labor Doula, Evidence Based Birth Instructor and National Black Doula Association Doula Trainer & Mentor. In her spare time she loves supporting The Birth Center of NJ as their Doula Coordinator and Childbirth Instructor. In this episode, Steve Fretzin and Terry Isner discuss:What culture is and how it is part of the entire organization, not just at one level. Giving culture a seat at the table. Finding the common hard things from different departments of your organization. Treating people the way they want to be treated. Key Takeaways:Culture does not have boundaries if we believe in it and have a set of behaviors already in place. Words have weight - little things that we say and do because we're in a hurry, that we think are not offensive could absolutely destroy a culture.Law firms need to become more empathetic at the people level, and not at the profit level. Be confident in being you, regardless of who you are. "The thing that we have to start to understand is really the culture’s behavior. The idea of that is, if there are certain behaviors in which our client expect of us or which we wish to put in place - why we do what we do - that begins to create that culture." — Terry Isner Connect with Terry Isner: Website: jaffepr.comEmail: tisner@jaffepr.comLinkedIn: linkedin.com/in/sharingtmiTwitter: twitter.com/sharingtmiInstagram: instagram.com/sharingtmi Connect with Steve Fretzin:LinkedIn: Steve FretzinTwitter: @stevefretzinFacebook: Fretzin, Inc.Website: Fretzin.comEmail: Steve@Fretzin.comBook: The Ambitious Attorney: Your Guide to Doubling or Even Tripling Your Book of Business and more!YouTube: Steve FretzinCall Steve directly at 847-602-6911 Show notes by Podcastologist Chelsea Taylor-Sturkie Audio production by Turnkey Podcast Productions. Coach Dale "Diesel" Collins, Bobby "The Bearded Wonder" Bennett, and Shannon "Big Mess" Messer host special guest Jeff Downing, author of "Tangled Lines"! Jeff dives into why he wrote Tangled Lines and how fly fishing became the backstory of this book. Jeff is a native Pennsylvanian who has some great stories of fishing the Little Lehigh River. I highly recommend this book. It is a murder mystery that you could envision happening today. Jeff's years of experience as a federal prosecutor help him develop scenarios that actually could happen. I think that many of us can relate to Thax Colby as he enjoys his time of the stream fly fishing as an escape or time to clear his mind.To pick up a copy of Tangled Lines visit https://www.amazon.com/Tangled-Lines-Jeff-Downing/dp/0999687808Listen for a fly fishing report and a the guide tip of the week.Send us your questions about this subject at https://www.info@tuckflyshop.com or call us at 1-828-488-3333. Guest Taran Lent, Dartmouth '96, knew he wanted to study engineering, even if he didn't see himself becoming an engineering. Learning how to scope a problem, build a toolkit of tactics and encyclopedia of methodologies, and solve real-world problems appealed to him. As he juggled the coursework and his role as captain of the varsity football team, he found a way to put the engineering mindset to action: He approached a slew of Hanover-area eateries—including the old favorites EBA's, Panda House, Lou's—and built a system that allowed college students to use pre-paid cards in college town eateries, something absolutely new in the late 90s. When corporate recruiting found him with a number of offers at the big consulting firms, he decided to turn them down and to go all in on his business. In time, the business grew beyond Hanover to other campuses and Taran's company also took over Dartmouth College’s on-campus card system. When he realized he could solve problems at scale, he ended up building enterprise-wide payment processing systems that were ahead of their time and that ultimately paid off.In this episode, find out from Taran how using longitudinal inquiry can tell us a lot about how sometimes you just need to pay attention to see how you can make things better and more efficient....on ROADS TAKEN...with Leslie Jennings Rowley.About This Episode's GuestTaran Lent has been building and operating payment technology companies his entire professional career from the Hanover Green Card back in the day to his current role as Vice President of Product Development at Transact Campus. We’re kicking off the TSHE Book Club with a discussion of Hollywood Homicide, by Kellye Garrett. We liked the diversity and the accuracy of the LA setting, but had a few burning questions that needed answers. Did we find our heroine endearingly daffy, or irritatingly incompetent? Was all the textspeak really necessary? Does a certain type of pornography referenced actually exist? (“Bobby, is that a thing?”) How many sweet potato cupcakes did we each give it, and which host felt differently than everybody else? Tune in to find out! Mommying While Muslim has never been late to drop an episode except Eid al Fitr 2021! We hope our lovely audience understands how excited we were to celebrate with our families and we wanted to edit something worth your listening ears.Today is an opportunity to hear about our experiences in the masjid that hurt our hearts because we know the masjid can do better by us as women, mothers, and for our children. Hey, no one’s perfect, and no masjid is perfect, and we don’t want perfection. Can we attend masjid (once it’s safe again) without women, our very own sisters, calling out our kids or what we are wearing (or aren’t wearing), and judging each other over stuff we really don’t have too much jurisdiction over. Let’s do our work, and let Allah do His work. But we have to start by addressing what’s wrong and what each of us can do better ourselves. Our goal is to get our unmosqued Muslim families mosqued again. Let’s make it home again.Links:Biden Steps to Address Gun Violence: https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/statements-releases/2021/04/07/fact-sheet-biden-harris-administration-announces-initial-actions-to-address-the-gun-violence-public-health-epidemic/ American Muslim Women’s Giving Circle: https://amuslimcf.org/donors/giving-circles/womensgc/RSVP “YES” to Mommying While Muslim Virtual Tea for AMWGC recruitment event: https://fb.me/e/dH3OIF98Q Web: www.mommyingwhilemuslim.comEmail: mommyingwhilemuslim@gmail.comFB: Mommying While Muslim page and Mommyingwhilemuslim groupIG: @mommyingwhilemuslimpodcast

Head's up! Our intro and outro this week is a bit about resistance cells in YA novel dystopias, it has no relation to anything happening with regards to Palestinian resistance right now, but wanted to provide the warning anyway. It was recorded before we knew about the current explusions in Sheikh Jarrah, we stand with Palestine against the Israeli occupation and colonial violence. This podcast is coming to you through our secret frequencies, as we deliver the cravings that The Evil Hierarchy doesn't want you to know...today's forbidden cravings are encrypted, de-encrypted, re-encrypted, and de-re-encrypted for your safety. They are: a better purpose for work, a better washer and dryer, a better attention span, and some (subjectively) better underwear. Plus, another round of Burn That Craving gives us something old, something new, and something supremely cursed. We've got a new look, a new county (Becky), some new meds (Sarah) and a new series especially for you! Once again the topic of the day is enthusiasm, but happily for us that covers all manner of brilliant, intriguing, and often slightly odd sins. As our first episode back falls in Mental Health Awareness week, we're delighted that our first guest is neuroscientist and science writer (and host of the British Psychological Society’s Psych Crunch podcast) Ginny Smith, answering all of our many childish questions and telling us exactly how she became such an enthusiast. We're also filling you in on the books we've been loving (forthcoming guest Isobel Wohl's phenomenal debut Cold New Climate, John Boyne's The Heart's Invisible Furies and Grace Campbell's Shame), our new favourite show, Rose Matafeo's Starstruck, and of course THAT Billie Eilish Vogue cover. How could we not? As always subscribing and telling your friends about us is a HUGE help, and we always love to hear from you too. My guest this week on the Over 50 Health & Wellness podcast is Steve Mansfield. Steve is the 63 year old creator of the Mansfield method, which focuses on longevity and elite level fitness. Steve grew up in rural eastern Kentucky where he spent his boyhood being outdoors. Most of us can relate to a time when our parents would shoo us out of the house and tell us to go play, and to be back in time for dinner or before dark. Steve got into martial arts at about age 8 and played spots in school and was a decent athlete - he went on to be a decathlete in college. A knee injury eventually ended his decathlon career, but shortly after he found a new passion – rock climbing. Join us this week as Steve explain what it means to be born to be fit, how to optimize nutrition for performance and longevity, and the criticality of motivation and passion as we age. You can connect with Steve in the following ways: Website: www.mansfieldmethod.comEmail: steve@mansfieldmethod.comInstagram: @mansfieldmethodListen to the Over 50 Health & Wellness wherever you download podcasts or on my website at www.silver-edge.com.
