Erwan Menard is the director of product management for Google Cloud's Cloud AI division, where he helps lead innovation at the intersection of AI agents, enterprise systems, and business outcomes. In part two of our series, Google Cloud and the AI Revolution, Erwan joins Bob Evans to discuss how governance, intentionality, and rapid scaling are critical to AI agent success, share insights on Google Cloud's Agentspace and Agent Builder tools, and explore how multi-agent collaboration is reshaping the future of enterprise technology.Purpose Driven AI InnovationThe Big Themes:Intentionality Drives Impact: Menard advises organizations not to jump into AI agent development for novelty's sake, but to begin with a clearly defined problem and desired business outcome. However, once value is proven, it's crucial to scale intentionally. He shares the example of a customer rolling out 40,000 licenses of Agentspace only after deeply considering what kind of first experience they wanted their employees to have.Organizational Culture Shapes AI Adoption: There's no universal model for who should “own” AI governance. It depends on the company's culture. Some companies may create centralized AI governance teams; others may embed responsibilities within existing business units or IT teams. The key is cultural acknowledgment: governance must be understood as a shared responsibility, not just an operational afterthought.Anchor in Business Value: With so many tools, models, and frameworks emerging, it's easy for companies to fall into what he calls “optionality evaluation.” That is, spending so much time chasing the latest innovations that they lose sight of why they started exploring AI in the first place. Instead, he urges leaders to ask: What are we trying to improve? Whether it's speeding up contract workflows, freeing up data scientists from routine tasks, or enhancing customer service, the goal should be clear. The Big Quote: "If you find yourself in a constant evaluation loop for the new shiny object, maybe it's worth taking a pause and saying, 'Why are we doing this again?'"

Data Futurology - Data Science, Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence From Industry Leaders
This week we bring you a special episode of the Data Futurology podcast, featuring the keynote panel from our OpsWorld conference earlier this year featuring guests at different levels of data maturity. They shared their stories of the journey to enabling and unlocking the true value of data self-service.. The panel featured Kate Carruthers, Chief Data & Insights Officer, UNSW Sydney. She shared the university's experience, which has had a mature data environment for several years. At the other end of the table was Conor O'Neill, Head of Data Science, Compare The Market. He represented an organisation that is rapidly addressing a lack of data maturity across the organisation. The third person on the panel was Arvee Manaog, Head of Enterprise Systems, Data & Information Management, and Integration, EG Australia. She shared insights on how to effectively get organisation-wide buy-in, and then effectively educate all stakeholders on how to effectively use self-service. The panel was wide-ranging, starting off with a discussion around best practices in data self-service, before moving on to an in-depth summary of how to effectively approach self-service from each level of data maturity. There was also a robust Q & A session at the end of the panel. Through the robust audience questions, the panellists discussed strategies for ensuring data trustworthiness in self-service. They also discussed how ROI is best measured with self-service data practices. Businesses of all sizes that want to maximise data value should look at effective self-service approaches. This panel provides invaluable insights into both getting started and continuing to innovate once the data environment has been fully modernised and transformed. Enjoy the show! How can those be managed in the pursuit of a self-service culture? 35:38: What are the most effective techniques for measuring ROI with self-service data practices? Key quotes: Manaog: “We're using DataIQ. And it actually helps because it's easier for users. I got a good adoption rate for that because it's possible to do drag and drop, there are recipes and users don't need to code. They can easily do their analysis, create their workflows and then come to the hub and say, can you productionise this?” O'Neill: “In one model, we're doing a hub and spoke approach, where we have champions placed within the business units. We are working with those champions to ensure that we understand how they're using the report. It's not just what they want to see. But in practice, what are they doing with it?” --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/datafuturology/message

There are particular indicators that something might be wrong in your Business Central / NAV system. Join Kim Congleton and me as we talk about setting and maintaining Permissions, preventing possible issues, and becoming more proactive. Essential points covered in this episode: ✔️ System administration is often one forgotten area, especially for companies with smaller I.T. teams. Kim shares that creating customer improvements requires assessing their system through a checklist related to the system admin. ✔️ Ask: Does everybody have the super admin permissions? There's a lot of risk to having somebody be a super admin or having everybody be super in the system. Kim adds that super permission can be pretty dangerous if you don't know what you're doing. Learn to master controls and access, understand the permission hierarchy and adopt the best practices for setup and managing. ✔️ Look at the older versions as an indicator that there might be something wrong. Somewhere in the setup, people can't tell why something happened or why financials are changing. Posting dates and setups in accounting is a symptom of what's lacking. ✔️ Focus on symptoms of system administration issues. Making sure that your system runs optimally is something you want to pay attention to. People put it on the back burner and get their improvements and efficiencies on hold, which can result in bigger issues. Friends,This interview is about an organization that is creating a new healthcare category, and whose purpose is to solve the employer healthcare dilemma. But even more fundamental than that, they're attempting to solve the core struggles that all healthcare consumers are facing. Glen Tullman is the Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Transcarent. Tullman is the former Executive Chairman, Chief Executive Officer, and Founder of Livongo Health He previously led two other public companies that changed the way health care is delivered - Allscripts and Enterprise Systems. Tullman is also a Founding Partner at 7WireVentures, a socially-minded venture capital fund. He is the author of ‘On Our Terms: Empowering the New Health Consumer'. Glen was honored in 2019 with a Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights Ripple of Hope Award for his career focused on improving the safety, empathy, and efficiency of our healthcare system. He also serves as a Chancellor to the International Board of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and as a Board Member and incoming Chairperson of the American Diabetes Association. In this episode, we'll learn about:The lack of alignment between payers, PBM's, healthcare systems and employers. As Glen points out, if employers spend more, payers, PBM's and healthcare systems make more. How the plethora of digital healthcare companies and apps are contributing to further complexity in healthcare delivery. Why it makes sense for employers to get rid of copays for preventive care and chronic disease management costs. The three things that people want from healthcare and how Transcarent is delivering on those consumer needs. The 5 most common issues/questions that healthcare consumers call Transcarent about. One of the qualities I most admire about Glen is his blunt but eloquent truthfulness. As he puts it - “After 30 years of promises, we have a healthcare system today that is more confusing, more complex and more costly than it's ever been”. Supporting this statement, he cites the stat that the average self-insured employer must hire 14 different companies to assist in providing healthcare to their employees. His solution to curtailing the complexity and confusion is to shift from fragmented point solutions to adopting the approach of other industries - which places the consumer in the driver's seat, provide ease of use, 24/7 access and low cost.Transcarent isn't just focused on building a ‘digital front door' or ‘digital consumer experience'. It is a wholecloth transformation of the healthcare experience. It is a leader in a new category - part navigator, part health coach, part telehealth provider, part center-of-excellence referral source. Glen is so obsessed with providing a best-in-class consumer experience/journey that his brand promise is personalized, convenient, unbiased, virtual access to coaches, navigators, and doctors - within a few minutes, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week! What I respect most about Transcarent is not the technical wizardry or their impressive feat of creating a new market category. What I respect most is the unyielding primacy they place on the care of the consumer. For example - despite their ability to deploy chatbots, Glen insists that there be a live person on the other end of the line. He believes that people who seek healthcare want and deserve a live person speaking with them. Transcarent's approach is “care over costs”, and while this may seem unsustainable, he points out that providing this type of care ends up greatly lowering the overall costs of care. The key to Transcarent's approach is the alignment of payment with value based care. Unlike most other healthcare stakeholders, Transcarent does not make its money when healthcare costs and prices increase. Transcarent has completely attached its revenue and business model to cost savings. If your business model is to provide an outstanding consumer experience, deliver markedly improved health outcomes and lower overall total costs - then it makes sense to invest upfront in the way that Transcarent is doing. I truly wish more healthcare organizations would manifest the vision, integrity and courage to implement the business model that Transcarent has. It would save a lot of money for our country, corporate America, our states and towns, our families and our citizens. But even more importantly, it would save a lot of lives. Until Next Time, Be Well.Zeev Neuwirth, MD

Guest Taran Lent, Dartmouth '96, knew he wanted to study engineering, even if he didn't see himself becoming an engineering. Learning how to scope a problem, build a toolkit of tactics and encyclopedia of methodologies, and solve real-world problems appealed to him. As he juggled the coursework and his role as captain of the varsity football team, he found a way to put the engineering mindset to action: He approached a slew of Hanover-area eateries—including the old favorites EBA's, Panda House, Lou's—and built a system that allowed college students to use pre-paid cards in college town eateries, something absolutely new in the late 90s. When corporate recruiting found him with a number of offers at the big consulting firms, he decided to turn them down and to go all in on his business. In time, the business grew beyond Hanover to other campuses and Taran's company also took over Dartmouth College’s on-campus card system. When he realized he could solve problems at scale, he ended up building enterprise-wide payment processing systems that were ahead of their time and that ultimately paid off.In this episode, find out from Taran how using longitudinal inquiry can tell us a lot about how sometimes you just need to pay attention to see how you can make things better and more efficient....on ROADS TAKEN...with Leslie Jennings Rowley.About This Episode's GuestTaran Lent has been building and operating payment technology companies his entire professional career from the Hanover Green Card back in the day to his current role as Vice President of Product Development at Transact Campus. Digital transformation IS happening and can represent either a huge opportunity or huge challenge for any business. The best way for a company to pro-actively move forward into digital transformation involves a change in mindset and corporate culture—not just in bits and pieces but through ALL processes. Organizations need to have an open-minded awareness and examine their existing processes. How long have they been in place (10 years? 15 years?) and ask the key question: Are those processes still relevant today? In today’s episode, hosts Miraj & Patrick take a look at how Oracle’s JD Edwards is helping companies update their processes to better focus on the customer experience. Smartbridge VP of Enterprise Systems, Victor Lang, interviews Kem Butler, Product Strategy Director at Oracle focus on JD Edwards.
There is book learning and then there is taking your knocks on the street. The students who enroll in the USC IBEAR MBA take their knocks all around the world. The International Business Consulting Project is an extreme version of experiential learning. The class is literally turned into an international consulting firm, where clients contract for consulting services and then the students get on planes and fly out to find a solution to their customers problems. These aren’t virtual clients either. Names such as Sony, Hitachi, Warner Brothers in countries from Indonesia, to Mexico, to China fill the roster. The goal? Find a real business solution to a real business problem. Bob Kiddoo – USC Professor of Accounting and Enterprise Systems managed the consulting teams for the past two years.
Keep IT from Wreaking Havoc with Employees The goal of Digital Transformation is to make processes easier, faster and more user friendly. Sometimes without realizing it, Digital Transformation introduces unintended disruption. When that happens, those employees responsible for implementing the transformational change will create push back or even develop work arounds that defeat the goals of the change. How can businesses embrace technological change when it comes to their people and what can they do to do a better job facilitating new processes? In today’s episode, hosts Miraj & Patrick introduce us to a company who expanded exponentially in a very short time, while embracing digital transformation. Smartbridge VP of Enterprise Systems, Victor Lang, interviews James Pham, Associate Director of IT for Aliso Viejo, CA based Avinir Pharmaceuticals.
How can your company CFO look at IT differently? It is the heart of every global business to find intrinsic value in people, processes and things when it comes to technology. How does IT prove its worth? In today’s episode, hosts Miraj & Patrick introduce our returning guest who shares that vision. Smartbridge VP of Enterprise Systems, Victor Lang, interviews Anthony Lackey, Senior VP of IT – North America, at ISS Facility Services.
"The Relentless Pursuit of the Vision" If you were to revamp an integral system in your business, that focuses on your most precious assets, what kind of challenges could you face? Would you be prepared for open, honest feedback from your employees? Technology enables the solution, but it's a small part of it. In today's episode, hosts Miraj & Patrick introduce two guests that share one such endeavor. Smartbridge VP of Enterprise Systems, Victor Lang, interviews Anthony Lackey, Senior VP of IT - North America, at ISS Facility Services (www.us.issworld.com/). Anthony talks about a vision of implementing the best labor management system in the world. He'll share his experience with training, analytics, user adoption and much more.

As enterprises seek to fully realize the scalability, availability, security, and agility of cloud computing, many are learning that they must migrate core business applications, such finance and human resource systems, not just public-facing websites. The University of Arizona shares how they addressed the challenge of creating a more efficient and agile IT operation. After initial success in migrating their Research Administration system, UA became the first major university to migrate their PeopleSoft application environments—Learning (EL), Human Resources (HR), and Student (SA)—to AWS. Learn about the university's enterprise migration roadmap, lessons learned, plans and budgets, and the tools available to support major enterprise migrations. See how to create a roadmap to cloud computing, transform application development, deploy mission-critical workloads at scale, and retrain staff.
Our guest in this DevOps Chat is Hayden Lindsey, VP of DevOps and Enterprise Systems and distinguished engineer at IBM. Beyond the title though, Hayden is a great gentlemen who I have had the pleasure of interviewing several times over the years. Hayden and his team have done a great job of not only keeping the "big iron" systems working the world over, but in fact teaching some of these "old dogs new tricks". Hayden and IBM's Enterprise System Group have leveraged technologies like DevOps and Agile to make todays enterprise systems work better and faster, keeping up with even the highest performing IT teams. Hayden tells us about the latest offerings from his team as well as discussing "Cognitive DevOps." I think you will enjoy Hayden's view of the market right now.

In this episode we talk about our feelings with ThinkBIT Solutions, an IT company that develops solutions such as Websites, Enterprise Systems, and Mobile Applications. They envision to be the catalyst of growth of all businesses and they play DOTA after office hours, so that’s cool. We sit down with CEO Jedd Lim, CTO Zennon Gosalvez, CMTO Lord Gosingtian, and HR Director Meril Arenas. We touch on their industry, and even things like Backyard Monsters and Crush the Castle. This is a very interesting episode for me because I didn’t think we’d be talking about our feelings and even the future of the podcast itself. ----------- Find out more about ThinkBIT: http://thinkbitsolutions.com https://www.facebook.com/thinkbitph https://twitter.com/thinkbitph

Poor software quality is blamed for more major business problems than any other man-made product, and results in over 500 billion dollars of losses worldwide. Improving application quality is a high priority in virtually every industry. But traditional testing methods have become too costly and impractical to keep up with business demands due to the increasingly complex web of hardware, software and services. By automating the building and testing of z/OS application code in isolated environments using virtualized services, the IBM Continuous Integration Solution for System z helps significantly improve software quality while reducing delivery time and costs. Dave Myers and Cheri Bergeron, speakers.
