Today, we're excited to get to know Bobby Guelich, Co-Founder and CEO at Elion, the Glassdoor for Healthcare Tech. Founded in 2022, Elion has raised $3.3 million in seed funding from NEA, Max Ventures, 8VC, AlleyCorp, Charge Ventures and Floating Point. Bobby has spent decades making build versus buy decisions at various companies and now is dedicated to the problem of improving that experience in healthcare. Bobby began his career in investment research at Bridgewater Associates and later worked as a VP of Customer Care Strategy and Head of Sales at Oscar Insurance. After that, he spent three years at Formation Bio (formerly TrialSpark), a technology company that specializes in clinical trial management, eventually transitioning into an Advisory Role. In May 2022, he founded Elion. Bobby earned an AB in Economics and Finance from Princeton and briefly attended Stanford Graduate School of Business before he pursued an opportunity at Oscar Insurance. In this episode, we learn about the Elion marketplace and reviews platform, how Bobby advises founders on building versus buying and coming up with a taxonomy for the health tech software stack.

Interview with Monte Davidoff, Developer of Altair BASIC Floating Point Welcome to Floppy Days episode 113 for April, 2022. I am Randy Kindig, your host. I'm going to take a break this month from covering machines in order to bring you a special interview show. Monte Davidoff worked with the very early Microsoft, while in college, when they were famously getting started by developing a BASIC for MITS and Ed Roberts for the Altair 8800. Monte developed the floating point routines for that BASIC that they so desperately needed at the time. If you're like me, I previously was unaware of Monte's contributions to essentially the first BASIC developed for arguably the first personal computer. It's interesting to hear Monte's perspective on how he managed to get involved with Microsoft, Bill Gates, Paul Allen and the project on which he worked with them. His recall of specifics about programming for the 8080 is pretty amazing. Before getting into the interview, I do want to talk about some vintage hardware or modern upgrades I was able to acquire, as well as bring you information about upcoming vintage computer shows. Finally, while I usually abstain from talking about monetary support for this podcast, I do want to mention that I have a way for you to help if you have the inclination. I have a page set up at https://www.patreon.com/FloppyDays where you can donate. Any funds will be used to defray the cost of managing the podcast as well as acquiring new hardware to talk about. Thank you so much everyone who has contributed and continues to contribute!
2-bit recording, which is now possible on some devices. Never worrying about clipping seems nice but is this something you actually need? We talk about how it works, the tradeoffs, and when it might actually make sense to do it. Continue reading →

In today's episode, Carlos sits down with John Peurifoy, co-founder and CEO of Floating Point Group. During the podcast, we discuss John's backstory and the origins of FPG; we dive into the mechanics of how crypto trading works across exchanges; we learn about FPG's product, specifically its modular trading technology and secure multiparty computation; we discuss competition in the industry; John reveals how he spends his time these days; and he provides an unexpected piece of advice to MIT students. Floating Point Group was founded in 2018 to redefine finance by bringing the power of programmatic currency to a legacy financial system that consumes billions of hours and trillions of dollars each year. It offers investors access to proprietary smart-order-routing software to block trade directly on cryptocurrency exchanges, intelligently routing orders to minimize slippage and transaction fees. Floating Point's latest benchmarks displayed the ability to sell $1mm worth of cryptocurrency at just 0.003% off current market value. John will be joining us as a speaker during the MIT Fintech Conference on February 25. The MIT Fintech Conference is a student-led initiative by MIT Sloan Students. This week, the gang are rounded up for one last GAMECHAT. Takuna is cornered in Lordran, and bitterly agrees to give up his life teaching English to the hollows and return to gamechattery. Andelect retreated to the crime-ridden streets of Battlefieldville, and that’s where the joke starts to break down. Still, ABigBlackWall scolds Takuna for not playing Floating Point, but he’s too busy launching his debut Christmas album to notice. Disgruntled, BlackWall turns back to Andelect and resumes talking about balls.
In this week’s hyper-dork special, Andelect talks about superhero fighter Injustice, the gang relives their ninja rope-ridden youth thanks to Floating Point and Jammy finally brings us the verdict on Bastion (It is good). Meanwhile SeldomBucket confesses his love for Smite, while Spad replays Dragon Age 2 and can’t stop dreaming about sexy grandma Janeway. Odward crawls from Dozmary Pool to tell us of Gamejam games, vopperough has a goddamned Nexus 7, and yuramiah samples the simply gorgeous array of underwear in Divinity: Original Sin.

This week on Board Gamers Anonymous, Anthony, Chris, Dan and Kim talk about Game of Thrones: The Card Game (LCG), Guilds of Cadwallon, Timeline, Castellan, and the divisiveness of Munchkin. Plus one of our hosts owes Myriad Games a nickel for his blatant chaotic neutraling and we're not quite sure when the bicycle was invented. Learn which games we'd like to burn and which are flat out addictive this week on Board Gamers Anonymous. 0:39- The Hotness News 16:06 - Acquisition Disorder Corner 28:44 - At the Table This Week (Guilds of Cadwallon, Timeline, Munchkin Legendary, Castellan) 1:02:31 - Featured Review: Game of Thrones The Card Game (LCG) Questions, comments, or suggestions for the BGA crew?
