As trend followers push through one of the toughest environments in years, Rich and Niels unpack what's actually driving the pain. They draw a sharp line between two camps in the industry - those who focus on standalone market behavior and those who manage trend as a portfolio-level phenomenon, and explain why that distinction now matters more than ever. From the ripple effects of tariff policy to the quiet fragility in institutional positioning, this episode traces how structural shifts are colliding with legacy assumptions. Also on the table: AI's growing role in model development, the hidden costs of bad data, and what it really takes to build a resilient, scalable process in a world where noise is cheap and conviction is rare.-----50 YEARS OF TREND FOLLOWING BOOK AND BEHIND-THE-SCENES VIDEO FOR ACCREDITED INVESTORS - CLICK HERE-----Follow Niels on Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube or via the TTU website.IT's TRUE ? – most CIO's read 50+ books each year – get your FREE copy of the Ultimate Guide to the Best Investment Books ever written here. And you can get a free copy of my latest book “Ten Reasons to Add Trend Following to Your Portfolio” here.Learn more about the Trend Barometer here.Send your questions to info@toptradersunplugged.comAnd please share this episode with a like-minded friend and leave an honest Rating & Review on iTunes or Spotify so more people can discover the podcast.Follow Rich on Twitter.Episode TimeStamps:00:13 - Introduction to Systematic Investing03:55 - The Shift Towards AI in Trading11:25 - The Rise of Idiosyncratic Trend Following Post-202021:42 - The Impact of Recent Market Dynamics25:39 - The Rise of Retail Trading in Futures34:09 - The Panama Method of Historical Adjustments42:32 - Understanding Backtesting and Data Integrity in Trading Models47:36 - Navigating Capital Constraints in Trend Following55:14 - Understanding AI in Trading Strategies01:00:14 - The Challenges of AI in Trading and Strategy Development01:04:44 - The Impact of AI on HumanityCopyright © 2024 – CMC AG – All Rights...

“Disposing of IT equipment is no longer just about recycling—it's about responsibility, integrity, and biodiversity,” says Wale Arewa, Founder and CEO of Xperien, in this wide-ranging conversation with Doug Green, Publisher of Technology Reseller News. The discussion, part of a special podcast series for ASCDI and TR Publications, dives deep into how Xperien is redefining the IT Asset Disposition (ITAD) landscape across Africa. Arewa explains that while traditional recyclers often handle equipment at its end-of-life stage, ITAD companies like Xperien engage earlier—during technology transitions—to manage secure data erasure, equipment redeployment, and logistical coordination. What truly sets Xperien apart, however, is its pioneering integration of biodiversity and sustainability goals into the ITAD process. Marking International Biodiversity Day, Arewa highlighted how Xperien offers clients the opportunity to redirect residual asset value into biodiversity projects—going beyond ESG reporting to real-world impact. From establishing gardens to sponsoring environmental initiatives, Xperien helps enterprises align their ITAD practices with global sustainability and circular economy goals. Serving blue-chip clients, particularly in the financial services and insurance sectors, Xperien supports operations across ten African territories. The company partners with ITADs and OEMs in the U.S. and Europe, offering secure, accredited services in Africa backed by R2v3 certification. With a robust ERP-backed chain of custody, onsite data destruction, and global resale through over 6,000 dealers, Xperien ensures both data security and maximum value recovery. Arewa urges North American and European enterprises with African operations to collaborate with local ITAD experts like Xperien to meet compliance, reduce environmental risk, and gain peace of mind. He also invites strategic partnerships to help meet rising demand for refurbished technology across the continent. “The biggest risk isn't what you pay—it's what you ignore. A data leak can cost millions and reputations,” Arewa warns, referencing high-profile compliance failures. Why numbers are only as compelling as the narratives we attach to them.Facts and figures can be your friend, but before you load your presentation full of data, Miro Kazakoff has a word of caution: “Data's objective, but people are not.”You might think that your data speaks for itself, but Kazakoff says numbers need a narrative. A senior lecturer at MIT Sloan School of Management and author of Persuading with Data: A Guide to Designing, Delivering, and Defending Your Data, he says the key to making data persuasive isn't about showing more information — it's about understanding your audience well enough to know how to relay it in a way that will connect with them. "The people who get good at this are not so much the people who can talk and draw graphs well, but the people who can listen the best. It starts with is empathy.”In this episode of Think Fast, Talk Smart, Kazakoff joins Matt Abrahams to explore how to transform complex data into clear, compelling communication. From avoiding the "curse of knowledge" to effectively orienting your audience through visualizations, he shares practical strategies for making your data not just informative, but persuasive.Episode Reference Links:Miro KazakoffMiro's Book: Persuading with DataEp.49 Make Numbers Count: How to Communicate Data Effectively Connect:Premium Signup >>>> Think Fast Talk Smart PremiumEmail Questions & Feedback >>> hello@fastersmarter.ioEpisode Transcripts >>> Think Fast Talk Smart WebsiteNewsletter Signup + English Language Learning >>> FasterSmarter.ioThink Fast Talk Smart >>> LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTubeMatt Abrahams >>> LinkedInChapters:(00:00) - Introduction (02:14) - How to Use Data Persuasively (04:01) - The Curse of Knowledge in Data Communication (06:26) - The Best Way to Present Data Visually (08:41) - The Role of Context in Making Data Meaningful (10:53) - Orienting Your Audience When Presenting Data (13:29) - Storytelling in Data Communication (15:30) - The Final Three Questions (20:29) - Conclusion ********Become a Faster Smarter Supporter by joining TFTS Premium.

The discussion, as you might guess, centers on the OWASP Top 10 list for Large Language Models (LLMs) and the security challenges associated with these technologies. Wilson highlights the growing relevance of AppSec, particularly with the surge in interest in AI and LLMs.The conversation kicks off with an exploration of the LLM project that Wilson has been working on at OWASP, aimed at presenting an update on the OWASP Top 10 for LLMs. Wilson emphasizes the significance of prompt injection attacks, one of the key concerns on the OWASP list. He explains how attackers can craft prompts to manipulate LLMs into performing unintended actions, a tactic reminiscent of the SQL injection attacks that have plagued traditional software for years. This serves as a stark reminder of the need for vigilance in the development and deployment of LLMs.Supply chain risks are another critical issue discussed. Wilson draws parallels to the Log4j incident, stressing that the AI software supply chain is currently a weak link. With the rapid growth of platforms like Hugging Face, the provenance of AI models and training datasets becomes a significant concern. Ensuring the integrity and security of these components is paramount to building robust AI-driven systems. The notion of excessive agency is also explored—a concept that relates to the permissions and responsibilities assigned to LLMs. Wilson underscores the importance of limiting the scope of LLMs to prevent misuse or unauthorized actions. This point resonates with traditional security principles like least privilege but is recontextualized for the AI age. Overreliance on LLMs is another topic Martin and Wilson discuss. The conversation touches on how people can place undue trust in AI outputs, leading to potentially hazardous outcomes. Ensuring users understand the limitations and potential inaccuracies of LLM-generated content is essential for safe and effective AI utilization.Wilson also provides a preview of his upcoming session at the OWASP AppSec Global event, where he plans to share insights from the ongoing work on the 2.0 version of the OWASP Top 10 for LLMs. This next iteration will address how the field has matured and new security considerations that have emerged since the initial list.Be sure to follow our Coverage Journey and subscribe to our podcasts!____________________________This Episode's SponsorsAre you interested in sponsoring our event coverage with an ad placement in the podcast?Learn More

GDP Script/ Top Stories for Mar 8th Publish Date: Mar 7th From the Ingles Studio Welcome to the Gwinnett Daily Post Podcast. Today is Friday, March 8th, and Happy 78th Birthday to The Monkees Micky Dolenz. ***03.08.24 – BIRTHDAY – MICKY DOLENZ*** I'm Bruce Jenkins and here are your top stories presented by Tom Wages Funeral Home. Second Suspect Arrested for Allegedly Impersonating a Federal Agent During Home Invasion Duluth Police Finish Expansion of Real Time Crime Center 7 Tips for making college more affordable All of this and more is coming up on the Gwinnett Daily Post podcast, and if you are looking for community news, we encourage you to listen daily and subscribe! Break 1: WAGES STORY 1: Second Suspect Arrested For Allegedly Impersonating a Federal Agent During Home Invasion Yenson Adrian Cedeno Acevedo, a second suspect in a Lawrenceville home invasion case, has been apprehended by the Gwinnett County Police. The incident, which took place in December, involved three individuals who posed as federal agents to gain entry into an apartment. The culprits then restrained a father and son duo using zip ties and proceeded to rob them of their possessions. At the time of his arrest, Acevedo was already detained on separate charges. Another suspect, Luis Soto, had been taken into custody earlier, with police discovering tactical equipment and stolen items connected to the crime in his possession. The police investigation is still underway, and they urge anyone with further information to reach out to local authorities or provide anonymous tips to Crime Stoppers. STORY 2: Duluth Police Finish Expansion of Real Time Crime Center The Duluth Police Department has announced the completion of its Real Time Crime Center's expansion. The center, founded in 2017, employs a combination of advanced technology and a dedicated team of analysts to manage immediate crises and aid in crime resolution. The latest expansion has resulted in increased space and upgraded technology, boosting the total number of surveillance cameras to approximately 400. This expansion signifies a major step forward in Duluth's dedication to public safety, enabling the center to function as a comprehensive hub for crime response. Analysts are now able to offer precise support to officers during ongoing criminal activities and city events, while also ensuring smooth collaboration with neighboring law enforcement agencies. STORY 3: 7 Tips for Helping You Afford College The average in-state tuition at public colleges has climbed to over $10,000, while private colleges are averaging a steep $42,162. However, Estephany Flores, a staunch advocate for financial aid, urges students not to be discouraged by these numbers. She highlights the importance of viewing a college education as a future investment. Flores points out that dual enrollment programs, which allow high school students to accrue college credits, are often overlooked resources that can substantially cut down tuition costs. Dr. Reanna Berry, an Associate Professor, offers several strategies to help offset tuition expenses. These include early savings plans, pursuing two-year degrees, enrolling as transient students, taking AP/IB classes, applying for grants, and exploring work-study opportunities. Dr. Berry cautions students against depending on loans as their primary financial solution and alerts them to potential scams aimed at those seeking college funding. Despite the financial hurdles, Gwinnett College continues to maintain its affordability, providing a wide range of options for financial assistance. Flores encourages students to contact the college's financial aid office for tailored advice and support in navigating the financial aspects of college education. We have opportunities for sponsors to get great engagement on these shows. Call 770.874.3200 for more info. We'll be right back. Break 2: INGLES 1 STORY 4: LAKO: Found money: Should you use an old 401(k) to pay off a child's student loans? Many parents harbor the desire to financially support their adult children, which is a factor that should be considered during financial planning. Some may discover dormant 401(k) accounts and consider utilizing these funds to settle their child's student loans. However, drawing from retirement accounts for this purpose can trigger penalties and taxes, thereby diminishing the sum available for debt repayment. The decision between investing for the future or paying off debt needs careful consideration, considering aspects such as interest rates and potential returns on investments. Financial experts typically discourage depleting retirement savings, instead proposing alternative strategies such as reallocating current savings or assisting with loan payments directly from regular income. STORY 5: Lawyer accusing Fulton DA of conflict details accusations of misconduct at Georgia Senate hearing Ashleigh Merchant, the legal counsel for Michael Roman, appeared before a state Senate committee to testify about her discovery of an alleged romantic relationship between Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis and special prosecutor Nathan Wade. Merchant initiated a motion to have Willis disqualified from the Trump election interference case because of this alleged affair. Details of the affair were revealed by Terrence Bradley, Wade's previous law partner, who voiced concerns about Wade's behavior. In response to these allegations, the Senate committee issued a subpoena to Merchant to delve deeper into the accusations, concentrating on potential conflicts of interest and monetary rewards in the case. Despite the ongoing controversy, Willis reiterated her commitment to continue with the felony racketeering case against Trump and his associates. STORY 6: Vidalia onions headed to grocery shelves April 17 Georgia Agriculture Commissioner Tyler Harper, in collaboration with the Vidalia Onion Committee, has declared April 17th as the official pack date for the 2024 Vidalia onion season. Famed for their distinctive sweet taste, Vidalia onions will be accessible in supermarkets across the country from April until early September. The determination of the pack date is influenced by factors such as soil and weather conditions, which serve to ensure the superior quality of the onions. With approximately 11,000 acres set aside for cultivation during the 2024 season, producers are optimistic about another prosperous year. Vidalia onions, unique to 20 counties in southern Georgia due to specific environmental conditions, are protected under federal and state legislation. STORY 7: Statham's Brian Harris Named Jackson EMC Vice President of Information Technology Brian Harris, hailing from Statham, has been named as the new Vice President of Information Technology at Jackson EMC, taking over from Jeff Keen who is set to retire after 41 years of dedicated service. The best system, top analysts, or most complicated reports won't get you anywhere if you don't start with good data. But how can you make sure your data is good when you inherited a mess in the first place? How can you spot errors in data that's already been collected? And how on earth can you get your techs to enter their metrics in your FMIS? Griffin and Tony answer all these questions and more in this week's episode of the Fleet Success Show. Tune in as they explain what kind of havoc bad data can wreak, their secrets to finding garbage data, and how to use policies, procedures, and work instructions to ensure your data is accurate and complete. Plus, learn what Tony's smell test is all about. Have feedback on the show? We'd love to hear it!
