The 2025 Volkswagen ID. Buzz is the most buzzworthy vehicle to hit American highways this decade. Combining the exterior style of the classic Microbus with the chassis of a thoroughly modern electric vehicle, the ID.Buzz is a crowd-pleaser that stops traffic, as Host Jack Nerad discovered during his two weeks with the vehicle. Its exterior design features LED lighting, retro-inspired wheels, and optional two-tone paint that pays homage to its iconic predecessor. But the drivetrain is anything but retro. The ID.Buzz is powered by a 91-kWh battery and offers two drivetrain configurations: rear-wheel-drive with 282 horsepower and an EPA-estimated range of 234 miles and 4Motion all-wheel-drive with 335 horsepower and a range of 231 miles. Charging is efficient, with DC fast charging replenishing 10-80% in just 26 minutes. Inside, the ID. Buzz boasts a spacious and customizable interior, offering up to 145.5 cubic feet of cargo space, flexible seating, and advanced technology, including a 12.9-inch infotainment display, IQ.Drive driver assistance, and wireless charging. It's a stark contrast to Nerad's 1968 Type 2 “Early Bay” Bus, powered by a 57-horsepower 1600cc engine that delivered a 0-60 mph time of 37 seconds and a top speed of 65 mph. But is the ID.Buzz as good a value as that long-gone college-era VW? Nerad will have the answer. In our other road test this week, Co-Host Chris Teague will have the answer on the all-new 2025 Ford Ranger. A finalist for North American Truck of the Year, the Ranger boasts a new engine that makes it much more competitive versus rivals that include the Chevrolet Colorado, Nissan Frontier, and the Toyota Tacoma. Teague is a Toyota fan, but does he see the Ranger as the better midsize truck? He'll give his verdict in this episode. Driving News Our look at Driving News this week features a headline-grabbing development that could reshape the industry. Nissan and Honda, two global giants with big U.S. footprints, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to explore a potential integration. If it goes forward, this partnership could see the companies combining their efforts in electrification, platform sharing, and advanced vehicle intelligence. With plans for a joint holding company by 2026, this is a story with far-reaching implications for drivers everywhere. In more amusing news, Hyundai has achieved an incredible and largely esoteric feat with its Ioniq 5 electric vehicle, earning a Guinness World Records title for the greatest altitude change ever by an electric car. Over 14 grueling days, the Ioniq 5 covered more than 4,900 kilometers across India, traveling from the Himalayas' highest drivable point to below sea level in Kerala. But what does this record prove? Jack and Chris will offer their opinions. Switching gears to luxury, Jack and Chris will also offer their opinions on the 2025 Genesis G80 3.5T Sport Prestige AWD, a sedan that blends advanced technology, stunning design, and exceptional performance. Powered by a twin-turbocharged V6, the G80 delivers a smooth, refined ride while packing a punch under the hood. Inside, it's all about premium touches, from Nappa leather seating to a cutting-edge OLED instrument cluster. Our two reporters will deliver their verdicts in this show This week's guest is Brian Jannusch, a Nissan GT-R expert with a passion for the legendary sports car. From its iconic engineering to his quest to drive one at the Nurburgring, Brian shares fascinating insights into what makes the GT-R so special. It's a conversation that will resonate with sports car fans and anyone who appreciates automotive excellence. The episode also tackles practical advice with safety tips for 2025 from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. As the year begins, it's a good time to revisit basics like seatbelt use, sober driving, and staying alert on the road. Simple steps can make a big difference in preventing accidents and keeping your loved ones safe.

Chevrolet says the 2024 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 Bison AEV Edition is “America's ultimate off-road beast.” After driving it on and off road for a full week in Maine, America on the Road Co-Host Chris Teague has no reason to question that somewhat boastful assessment. After all, the truck not only uses the still-new Chevy Colorado platform, but it also enhances that platform with a number of American Expedition Vehicles add-ons that give it even greater capabilities. As just a taste of that, here are some of those added pieces of kit: segment-exclusive Multimatic front and rear Jounce Control Dampers, AEV heavy-duty winch-capable front bumper, AEV rear bumper and AEV fender flares, AEV 17-inch beadlock-capable wheels with segment-exclusive 35-inch OD Mud/Terrain tires, and boron steel skid plates and rocker protectors. How did the truck's class-leading approach angle (38.2 degrees), departure angle (26 degrees) and breakover angle (26.9 degrees) work in the rigors of a Maine off-road course? Teague will tell us in this episode. Across the country, Host Jack Nerad was putting the 2024 Volvo XC40 Recharge Single-Motor Ultimate through its paces. Looking to add range and hit a reasonable price point, Volvo introduced the single-motor version of the XC40 Recharge this year. In doing so, the company created the first rear-drive Volvo in more than two decades. As Nerad found during his week-long test, there's a lot to like about the single-motor version of the small battery-electric SUV. It features a torquey 248-horsepower permanent magnet e-motor on the rear axle in tandem with a new 82 kWh battery pack. The combination of a more energy-dense battery and more efficient motor allows the XC40 Recharge to deliver 293 miles of range on the combined EPA test cycle. As a further bonus, the uprated battery pack enables charging at a top rate of 200 kW DC. Charging from 10 to 80 percent state-of-charge takes approximately 28 minutes. But how does it drive? Nerad will reveal that in the road test segment. Our special guest this week will discuss a subject of vital interest to all of us who drive. Dr. Michael Warholic is Valvoline's senior technology manager for light duty lubricants. If you want to learn more about choosing the right motor oil to keep your car or truck running at its best, there's no-one better to talk to. So we're sure you'll enjoy our discussion with him. We have two very interesting vehicle introductions to tell you about this week. Jeep has pulled the wraps off its first global battery-electric vehicle — the Jeep Wagoneer S. And Toyota has announced the addition of a new Corolla model that is both sporty and affordable. And it takes Host Jack Nerad back to his Motor Trend days. We'll tell you more about both of them coming up. In other news, a U.S. Senator is asking domestic automakers to sue the U.S. Treasury Department over the way it has implemented regulations regarding electric vehicle tax credits. (That's what we need; more court cases.) We'll give you the details, and offer our thoughts on that. There's more evidence that the internal combustion engine is not on its last legs. Three automakers have announced a plan to develop new internal combustion engine technology, and it has some very interesting wrinkles. We'll tell you more about that, too. America on the Road is brought to you by Driving Today.com, Mercury Insurance, and EMLandsea.com , the publisher of Nerad's latest book, Dance in the Dark, which is available HERE on Amazon.com

2024 Ford Maverick Review: A Compact Truck That Packs a Punch The 2024 Ford Maverick is a compact pickup truck that has shaken up the automotive landscape. Bucking the trend of ever-growing trucks, the Maverick offers a refreshing alternative for those seeking practicality, efficiency, and affordability in a smaller package. This review delves deep into the Maverick's performance, design, features, and value proposition, providing you with a comprehensive understanding of this unique offering. Powertrain and Performance: The Maverick comes in two engine options: a standard 2.0-liter EcoBoost turbocharged four-cylinder producing 250 horsepower and 277 lb-ft of torque, and an available hybrid powertrain pairing a 1.5-liter Atkinson cycle engine with an electric motor for a combined 191 horsepower. Both engines are paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and offer front-wheel drive as standard, with all-wheel drive available. Fuel Efficiency: The Maverick shines in terms of fuel efficiency. The standard EcoBoost engine achieves an impressive 23 mpg city and 32 mpg highway in front-wheel drive configuration, reaching 21 mpg city and 30 mpg highway with all-wheel drive. The hybrid truly sets itself apart, boasting a remarkable 42 mpg city and 44 mpg highway, making it one of the most fuel-efficient trucks available. Driving Dynamics and Handling: While not designed for off-road prowess, the Maverick handles surprisingly well on paved roads. The suspension provides a comfortable ride, absorbing bumps and road imperfections effectively. The steering feels responsive and precise, even at highway speeds. However, the truck's height can lead to some body roll in sharp corners, which is to be expected for a vehicle of its size and purpose. Design and Interior: The Maverick's exterior design is bold and distinctive, with a muscular stance and unique styling elements. The signature LED headlights and taillights add a modern touch, while the optional two-tone paint scheme further enhances its visual appeal. The interior prioritizes practicality and functionality. The cabin offers ample space for both passengers and cargo. The seats are comfortable for long journeys, and the driver's seat provides good visibility. The dashboard layout is straightforward and user-friendly, with easy-to-reach controls and a standard 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system. However, some reviewers noted the use of hard plastics in certain areas, which could feel less premium compared to competitors. Features and Technology: The Maverick offers a surprising array of standard features for its price point. The base XL trim comes equipped with cruise control, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, and pre-collision assist with pedestrian detection. Higher trim levels offer additional features like a power tailgate, heated seats and steering wheel, a sunroof, and a larger 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Ford's SYNC 4 system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Cargo Capacity and Towing: Despite its compact size, the Maverick boasts a surprisingly generous bed for its class. The bed measures 4.5 feet long and 40.9 inches wide, offering enough space for carrying various cargo items. The payload capacity is rated at 1500 pounds, while the towing capacity reaches 2000 pounds with the EcoBoost engine and 2500 pounds with the hybrid powertrain. Value Proposition and Competition: The 2024 Ford Maverick starts at a competitive price of $25,410 for the base XL trim with the EcoBoost engine, making it one of the most affordable new trucks on the market. This starting price, coupled with its exceptional fuel efficiency, makes the Maverick a compelling choice for budget-conscious buyers seeking efficiency and practicality. The Maverick's main competitors include the Hyundai Santa Cruz, another compact pickup truck offering similar features and capabilities. The Santa Cruz boasts a slightly higher starting price and a more stylish, car-like design, while the Maverick prioritizes functionality and affordability. Additionally, the Toyota Tacoma and Chevrolet Colorado are established players in the compact truck segment, but they offer larger sizes, stronger towing capacity, and a more traditional truck experience at a higher price point. Overall, the 2024 Ford Maverick is a game-changer in the compact truck segment. It offers exceptional fuel efficiency, impressive cargo capacity for its size, and a long list of standard features at a starting price that undercuts most competitors. While it may lack the off-road prowess of some trucks and the premium interior materials of others, the Maverick excels in practicality, affordability, and fuel efficiency, making it a compelling choice for a variety of buyers. Additional Points to Consider:Availability: The Maverick has been in high demand since its launch, and finding one at dealerships can be challenging.Hybrid Option LimitationsThanks for listening to Quiet Please. This week, the guys ask: How many off road trims should a mid-size truck offer? Benjamin explores this concept with his review of the 2023 Chevrolet Colorado Trail Boss, which sits alongside the Z71 and ZR2 models as an off road oriented truck. However, the Trail Boss is surprisingly cheaper and pared down compared to those other models. Does that help or hurt it's chances in the market? Benjamin shares the full scoop! Then Sami gives an update about the LA Auto Show, and all of the new reveals, from the expected, to the confusing and bizarre. The guys close up the episode with a laugh as they reference an interview with Volvo CEO Jim Rowan. Thanks for listening!

The days of American brands falling short in the mid-sized pickup market are over and the new 2023 Chevrolet Colorado is proof. It's handsome, capable, comfortable and powerful. Plus, it's affordable. The Trail Boss model with standard 4WD and off-road suspension is less than $40,000.  Tom Voelk takes The Boss on road, off road, camping and exploring. Midsized trucks do some things better than full-sized rigs.   Special thanks to Ryan Douthit for providing footage and opinions for this review. The Nissan Frontier started what promises to be a parade of all-new midsize pickup trucks over the course of the next year. General Motors has already started to sell its brand-new Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon. Soon Ford will follow suit with its completely new 2024 Ford Ranger that we detailed for you last week. And Toyota has revealed its 2024 Toyota Tacoma, the completely revamped version of the sales leader in the segment. So how does the 2023 Nissan Frontier stack up in this flurry of activity on the midsize truck front? To find out, Co-Host Chris Teague put the Frontier through a series of grueling and practical tests in his home base of Maine. And he discovered that the V6-powered Frontier is not only a good choice among the current competitors but will also hold its own against the newcomers as they arrive in showrooms over the next several months. He'll share the details in this episode. While Chris Teague was wringing out the Nissan pickup, Host Jack Nerad took on a different challenge. He and his family used the 2023 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid as their vehicle of choice to move his youngest daughter out of her college apartment. The trek involved about 500 miles of driving on freeways, rural roads, and city streets. Was the minivan able to swallow up all the accumulated possessions of a fourth-year college student? We'll have the answer for you coming up. Were you thinking of buying a low-priced Chevy Silverado battery-electric pickup when they come to market next year? Well, you might want to think again. There's a lot going on in EV Truckland these days, and we'll give you the details. Also in the news, two big names in performance cars are teaming up for what should a very exciting collaboration. We'll tell you what brands we're talking about and what their plans are coming up. And in the True Crime Files Automotive Edition, the highest German federal court has ruled that the companies responsible for Dieselgate owe their customers compensation. It could cost them tens of millions of dollars. We'll tell you more later in this episode. Our special guest this week is Brad Gieske, chief UX designer at Dodge. Infotainment is something we talk about a lot of the show because it is so important to so many of us. So we'll chat with Brad about the latest trends in vehicle entertainment and information. And we'll take a special look at the UX in the all-new 2023 Dodge Hornet. The 2023 Ford F-150 Raptor R is the coolest truck in the Ford stable. This week AOTR Co-Host Chris Teague got the chance to match it up against the toughest tests Maine has to offer, including heavy-duty off-road driving and, toughest of all, a round trip to the home improvement store to get patio bricks and 50-pound bags of mulch. How did the truck do in those difficult circumstances? We'll tell you in this episode. While Chris Teague was hauling bricks, Host Jack Nerad was hauling ass in the 2023 Genesis Electrified GV70 luxury crossover SUV. An appealing vehicle with some serious performance chops, the battery-electric GV70 won his praise for its 429 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque. With 54 more horsepower and 125 lb-ft more torque than the gasoline-powered GV70, the electric SUV was hard not to like. That brings us to our special guest this week, an expert on battery-electric SUVs. Jonathan Chen is a senior product expert at VinFast, a Vietnam-based automaker that is just entering the U.S. market. We recently got a chance to drive the VinFast VF8 battery-electric crossover SUV, and we'll discuss that and VinFast plans for its American launch. In the news, it is game-on in the midsize truck segment with an all-new 2024 Toyota Tacoma getting ready to do battle with an all-new 2024 Ford Ranger, all-new 2024 Chevrolet Colorado, and all-new 2024 GMC Canyon. The confluence of all these new trucks is rarer than sobriety at a frat party. We'll tell you how they stack up. A new consumer survey shows that many American car buyers want electric vehicles. But there is one big hangup that prevents many of them from buying one. We'll tell you what that is and more on the survey in this episode. BMW might make a production vehicle out of a recent concept car that caused a lot of buzz. We'll give you details on that. And Stellantis is recalling a lot of vehicles because of a fire risk. Although the midsize pickup truck segment is heating up the 2022 Chevy Colorado is unlikely to lose any market share. On the contrary, the moves Chevy is making should help increase sales.  And that's even though Chevy's umbrella GM slices some of its sales off to the GMC branded midsize each month. Even so, Colorado is one of my favorites in the segment.  And for many good reasons, as you'll read below. ⇒ Martin Chevrolet Is Southern California's Chevy Dealer ⇐ 2022 Chevy Colorado Top-3: Versatility/capability. Overall, there are exceptions to every option.  But I'm going to layout some generalities here in an effort to normalize while giving you a broad view of your options: WT - see dealer for pricing: The work truck is what you'd expect, a truck focused on getting jobs done.  With creature comforts, advanced tech, etc. taking a backseat. LT - see dealer for pricing: Colorado LT can be a chameleon.  Because you can choose to option the LT into an on-road beauty or an off-road beast - depending on the direction you want to go. Z71 - starting MSRP $35,995: Chevy's Z71 trim is off-road focused.  It's more off-road aggressive and sporty-looking than the LT or WT as well. ZR2 - Starting MSRP $45,395: This truck takes Colorado off-roading to another level of seriousness.  Both in looks and performance.  Get this truck and plan to spend a great deal of time in the dirt, off-pavement.  Also, with no worries about stop signs, traffic lights... or traffic overall. Special Editions As Chevy is known for, Colorado offers a slew of special editions this year.  And they include: Custom - As the name suggests, make it yours, however, you like.  Think executive who hauls stuff. Redline - Black and red accents adorn this package.  And my test driver pictured throughout this post had it. Trail Boss - This is a new one for 2022's Colorado - takes the LT and Z71 off-road packages to a slightly higher level. Z71 Midnight  - This one is more of an on-road package. ZR2 Midnight And Dusk  - Blacked out off-road packages 3.6L V6, 308 hp & 275 lb-ft of torque Engines, Transmissions, And MPG So, just like your trim options, there are plenty of engine and transmission combinations to choose from. Engines It starts with three different engines.  There's a 4-cylinder, a V6, and turbo-diesel.  Each delivers different performance metrics: 2.5 liter, 4-cylinder putting out 200 horsepower and 181 lb-ft of torque. 3.6L, V6, delivering 308 hp with 275 lb-ft of torque. 2.8L turbo-diesel, powering 181 hp with 369 lb-ft of torque. Transmissions And the above motors are paired with one of two different transmissions. First, there's a 6-speed automatic.  And that comes with the 2.5L 4-cylinder and the 2.8L turbo-diesel. Then there's an 8-speed automatic and that comes with the V6 exclusively. Fuel Economy Overall,

Good morning, good afternoon and good evening wherever you are in the world, welcome to EV News Daily for Wednesday 29th September. It's Martyn Lee here and I go through every EV story so you don't have to. Thank you to MYEV.com for helping make this show, they've built the first marketplace specifically for Electric Vehicles. It's a totally free marketplace that simplifies the buying and selling process, and help you learn about EVs along the way too. Tom Moloughney from State of Charge YT channel and InsideEVs got an invite to go and drive the Rivian R1T. Here are highlights of his review, but go and read the whole thing and watch his video review. ·       MOTOR                             4 AC Permanent-Magnet (each corner) ·       OUTPUT                            835 Horsepower / 908 Pound-Feet ·       DRIVE TYPE                       All-Wheel Drive ·       TOWING                           11,000 Pounds (Max) ·       GROUND CLEARANCE    7.9 - 14.4 Inches ·       SPEED 0-60 MPH             3.0 Seconds ·       CARGO VOLUME             Frunk: 11.0 Cubic Feet; Gear Tunnel: 11.6 ·       HEIGHT                             75.7 Inches ·       LENGTH                             217.1 Inches ·       WIDTH                              81.8 Inches ·       ANGLE OF REPOSE          34.0 Degrees ·       DEPARTURE ANGLE        29.3 Degrees ·       WADING DEPTH              3+ Feet ·       AS-TESTED PRICE             $73,000 The average selling price of a new pickup was over $57,000 in June 2021, in fact, according to KBB Range: EPA: 314 miles (505 km) (see details here) 400+ miles (644+ km) version (January 2022) 250+ mile (402+ km) affordable version to follow undisclosed battery capacity 2170-type cylindrical cells (7,776), supplied by Samsung SDI on-board charger: 11.5 kW (AC Level 2); up to 25 miles of range per hour of charge DC fast charging: up to 140 miles of range in 20 minutes On drive modes: "For on-road driving, drivers get to select between the All-Purpose, Sport, and Conserve driving modes. When you set up your profile, you can select which driving mode you prefer the vehicle to default to upon starting. That's a great feature to have, and unfortunately, not all automakers allow the owner to do that. All too often, the vehicle defaults to a set mode every time it turns on and the driver has to then select the mode he or she prefers to drive in." On off-roading: "Rock crawling mode enables a slow, steady ascent or descent. There's no need to play with the throttle to maintain the proper RPMs or even use the friction brakes to slow down. That's because the regenerative braking system holds you back slowly and steadily, even better than the hill descent modes I've used on a variety of gas-powered AWD vehicles." On the ride height: "The R1T's ground clearance can be adjusted by as much as 6.5 inches, from 7.9 to 14.4 inches. For comparison, that's 3.3 inches more ground clearance than the Jeep Gladiator Rubicon, which tops out at 11.1 inches. The R1T isn't hampered with driveshafts and exhaust systems to protect underneath either. Instead, there's a protective shield of high-strength steel, alloyed aluminum, and carbon fiber." On the bed: "The bed is only 54 inches long with the tailgate up and will be a problem for some folks. My Toyota Tacoma has a 60-inch bed and that is, on occasion, too small for some jobs. Yes, it does have an 11.6-cubic-foot gear tunnel that can accommodate cargo, but large items that need to go in the bed may not fit without leaving the tailgate down and that presents its own set of issues while driving." Air compressor for reinflating tyres Will work as FWD to increase range They got rid of Low regen mode to get more EPA range 150kW max regen One pedal driving Auto hold Autosteer works where there is HD maps No Apple Carplay/Android Auto Alexa will be added - unsurprising! John Voelcker for Forbes: "Dimensionally, Rivian's R1T sits comfortably in the midsize pickup class with the Chevrolet Colorado, Ford Ranger and Nissan Frontier. It's the widest of that group by an inch at 79 inches, but its 218-inch length and 72-inch height map neatly with the others. The only sore point, perhaps, is its limited 54-inch long bed. It opens up to 83.6 inches with the tailgate down, but with the gate up it's closer to the compact Ford Maverick's bed compared with most short-bed midsize trucks. I drove the R1T for a lengthy day over a variety of roads and non-roads, at altitudes from 9,000 to 12,000 feet. By the end of the day, it was clear Rivian has a decent shot at being the second EV startup to make it into the big leagues. Buyers looking for a full-size all-electric pickup truck will have to wait until the Ford F-150 Lightning hits the dealers, but this is a legitimate midsize pickup that should do virtually everything owners want trucks to do. " Hannah Elliott at Blolomberg: "My first impression was that Scaringe and his tight-knit team did try to think of everything when they made it. It felt as if they had taken their own notes over many back-country climbing and biking trips, then made a vehicle to suit their own Patagonia-loving lifestyle.  With nearly 15 inches of clearance, it had me crawling over gullies and up hard-packed inclines with little effort. I loved the shape and feel of the steering wheel and the craftsmanship of the natural-grain ash-wood trim along the doors and dashboard. The cabin seal proved quiet as I plunged through the wilderness. Rivian's fit-and-finish elements and build quality are better than what Tesla has given us to this point. . Its 800-plus horsepower and 900 pound-feet of torque from four electric motors easily pushed it to 100 mph as I glided past RVs lumbering down Loveland Pass. And that's plenty of power for hauling—more than the F150 and its peers. Rivian says it will hit 60 mph in 3 seconds; it certainly felt so. Top speed will be electronically limited to 110 mph." Read more: https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2021-09-28/rivian-r1t-review-electric-ingenuity-but-don-t-depend-on-it-for-work Tim Levin at MarketsInsider: "Powered by four torquey motors - one driving each wheel - the R1T made light work of any obstacle and steep grade I threw at it during a day of off-roading (on trails Rivian hand-picked to showcase the model's strengths). The R1T promises to put out more than 800 horsepower and over 900 pound-feet of torque between the front and rear wheels. But the truck offers a lot more than just four-wheel drive and a ton of power. Since its motors operate independently, the R1T can instantly deliver more or less power to any wheel at any moment, a huge asset for tackling uneven terrain. Plus, you can toggle between drive modes that change the R1T's ride height, suspension settings, and throttle response for different types of off-roading." Read more: https://markets.businessinsider.com/news/stocks/rivian-r1t-ev-electric-pickup-first-drive-impressions-photos-2021-9 Mitchell Charle at The Verge: "I don't want to pretend like we were doing hardcore rock crawling, but we certainly got to see how the truck handled steep, loose climbs, water crossings, and situations where we were driving at an extreme angle over very uneven ground (though I don't think we ever lifted more than one wheel off the ground). And the R1T handled all those things beautifully.  The weight of the R1T's 135kWh battery pack is spread out along the entire length of the truck, helping it avoid some traditional truck problems. I didn't experience any of the fishtails that I used to deal with when I owned a Chevy S10 or when I drove a mid-2000s Ford Ranger. That weight also keeps the Rivian planted when going into curves, without the body roll that sometimes comes with bigger cars. Since Rivian charged the trucks for us overnight, I never had any range anxiety with the R1T, even while we were off-roading. Our test model was capable of going 314 miles on a full charge, but I don't think I ever saw it dip below 90 miles, even after a full day of driving." Read more: https://www.theverge.com/transportation/2021/9/28/22697309/rivian-r1t-electric-truck-test-drive-off-roading-camp-tested Kristen at TechCrunch :"During the off-road section, the independent air suspension proved its worth. Drivers can pick from one of several modes: all-purpose, sport, off-road, conserve and towing. Within the off-road mode, there are even more options, including off-road auto, rock crawl and rally. There's also a drift mode, which I didn't test. The ride height, damping, pedal map that controls regenerative braking and suspension on the vehicle adjust depending on the drive mode. For instance, in conserve mode, the vehicle lowers to about 8 inches; in off-road, it can be as high as 14.9 inches.  During our off-road excursion, we put the vehicle up and over steep slopes and even made a shallow ford. The ground clearance, combined with an approach angle of 34 degrees, a breakover of 25.7 and departure angle of 29.3 degrees, meant the vehicle never scraped or stuttered. There were moments when, as I prepared to drive around a particularly large boulder — the standard technique in other vehicles — a Rivian employee would encourage me to just drive over it. And I would, without the negative results." https://techcrunch.com/2021/09/28/first-drive-rivian-delivers-the-electric-truck-weve-been-waiting-for/?guccounter=1 Josh Rubin at Cool Hunting: "Yes, Rivian is a mobility company but the moment we get in to the R1/T it's clear they're also a technology company. Two large screens comprise the entire vehicle interface beyond the steering wheel and stalks on either side of it. While controlling everything—from entertainment to drive mode to air vent direction—through a touchscreen is a paradigm shift from the typical truck, it's commonplace for tech-forward EVs. Plus, keeping as much control on-screen as possible means that new features, updated functionality and evolved interfaces can all be delivered over the air through a simple software update. Driving on the gritty, rocky, steep, muddy, narrow and complicated tracks around Breckenridge and through the White River National Forest with the windows open we hear babbling brooks and the breeze in the trees with the only sound created by the R1/T being the crunch of rocks below the tires." WOW! Joe Biden really did say that if Americans think they have any “right” to own weapons under the Second Amendment for the purpose of “controlling the Federal Government”, then We The People are wrong. He said we will need F-15s and nuclear weapons! Louis Avallone and Stephen Parr compare this declaration by Joe Biden (and the Biden Administration) to the Chinese Tiananmen Square Massacre in June, 1989, where thousands of peaceful demonstrators were brutally killed. Now you understand what the Socialist-Marxist Democrats really intend to do and why they are determined to confiscate all our personally owned weapons…..to leave us as defenseless as those Chinese. And knowing the top leaders of the American military are so deep into the Democrat “wokeness” today is also a concern. Biden definitely was threatening use of the military against the American people, even though the American military is never supposed to be used against us.The State of Mississippi has just been sued by he Mississippi Humanist Association and American Atheists Inc. because their State license plate has “In God We Trust”. They claim it forces them display a religious message on their vehicles, as well as cleaning it violates their Freedom of Speech. Since it is the motto of the United States and has it printed on our money since 1864, this is going to be an interesting case to follow.Winning at anything should not be so important that it justifies cheating, especially not when it involves kids' sports and the adults are the ones doing it. Too much of our culture today had devolved into those depths, however. Rather than saying “everyone is doing it”, good Americans need to start investigating it and working to make it public. (If you know of a cheating story, contact us at American Ground Radio.)Having said that, this segment of @American Mamas is very personal to Teri Netterville and Denise Arthur. Catholic High School in Baton Rouge has just been sanctioned by the Louisiana High School Athletic Association (LHSAA) for recruiting violations, and Championship titles have been stripped for its various State Titles between 2017 through 2020. Apparently, there was some major recruiting of athletes, following scouting of middle schools, which is not permitted. Even though Catholic High School was fined and the titles stripped, the recruited players were not ordered back to their “zoned school of attendance,” and will be allowed to continue being students at Catholic High School. These students were not the ones doing the cheating. It was adults. The Democrats are much more interested in enabling illegals to become voting Democrats than they are about protecting the American citizens. As a result, it seems to have taken the fear of Donald Trump getting to the Texas-Mexico border before Kamala Harris got her “photo opportunity” to finally get her to make the trip. However, if she really wanted to learn about the border problems, she would be going to Del Rio with Rep. Henry Cuellar (D) instead of to El Paso (home of Beto). The problem of a continual decline in the birthrate there start to be a decline in eligible people to replace people leaving the work force because of age, retirement, or death. Germany, Bosnia, Italy, France, Belgium, Japan, South Korea, and the United States are among a number of Nations experiencing a definite decline in the number of live births in recent years. In the US, this trend started about 2007, as the economy dropped, and it really has not recovered. There are several reasons for a declining birthrate, including the cost of raising a child today, and a sense of political instability. The states hardest hit in the last part of 2020 are New Mexico, New York, California, Hawaii, and West Virginia. Except for West Virginia, the other states had the strictest COVID lockdowns. Cars.com tracks several factors to determine how much of each automobile is really a “Made in America” vehicle — meaning where it was assembly, the percentage of its parts are American manufactured, where the engines and transmissions were manufactured, and how much of the labor to make it is actually American. The results can be surprising, and you cannot go by the brand name any more. 1.) Tesla Model 3, 2.) Ford Mustang, 3.) Tesla Model Y, 4.) Jeep Cherokee, 5.) Chevrolet Corvette, 6.) 2019 Chevrolet Colorado Review The 2019 Chevrolet Colorado is a complete package that's difficult to resist.  Actually, let me restate that.  After driving the '19 Chevy Colorado I want to buy one - hands down. However, being a married man, there's more to the equation than simply what I want. :0)  But, if you're married, then you know.  And if you're not yet married - you'll find out. So, Chevy Colorado delivers a great combination of drivability, style, functionality, and command of the road.  It's big enough to get lots of jobs done while not being too big to drive all over Southern California on a regular basis.  Like I do, ahem, darling wife... :0) 2019 Chevrolet Colorado Top-3 1. Drivability 2. Versatility 3. Styling And now you can continue reading for my complete review of the 2019 Chevy Colorado or listen to the podcast versions by clicking play below.  Either way, check out all the pics from my test drive - courtesy of my friends at Martin Chevrolet. 2019 Chevy Colorado Trim Options So, the 2019 Chevrolet Colorado is basically a small Silverado.  Perhaps that's a key ingredient why I fancy it so much... hmm. "Beyond providing the best deals they [Martin Chevrolet in Torrance] focus on assuring you buy what you want." And, being a truck and, being that we live in the United States our trucks must be available in every possible variety.  And the '19 Colorado definitely does not disappoint in the optional configuration category.  Chevrolet tries to keep the huge number of options as simple as possible... but frankly, that's a tall order. 2019 Chevy Colorado LT Redline For example, if you want to dial-in exactly what you want - you should contact my friends at Martin Chevrolet.  Beyond providing the best deals they focus on assuring you buy what you want.  Not what they want to sell you like many other dealerships.  That's a big difference in the car buying game. Black bowtie Colorado - Martin Chevrolet, Torrance So there are three basic trim levels for the Chevy Colorado.  There's the Base, the Work Truck (WT) and the LT.  (BTW the LT in Chevrolet-speak stands for Luxury Touring.)  Starting manufacturer's suggested retail pricing below. 2019 Chevrolet Colorado Trims & MSRPs: Base $21,300 WT $24,800 LT $27,600 Special Edition Options: RST  Trail Runner Redline ZR1 Midnight ZR2s Bison Midnight Dusk Cab Options: Extended Cab Crew Cab (4-door) Bed Options: Short Box 61.70 inches Long Box 74.00 in '19 Chevrolet Colorado Engines, MPG & Towing The 2019 Chevy Colorado offers up three powerplants.  And of course, you also have the option of 2-wheel or 4-wheel drive.  Here's the breakdown for each of the three engines, with towing capacity and MPG ratings: '19 Chevy Colorado Power, MPG & Towing: 2.5-liter 4-cylinder 200-horsepower 191 pound-feet of torque 3,500-pound towing capacity 20-MPG city & 26-MPG highway 3.6-liter V6 308-horsepower (best in class) 275 lb-ft of torque 7,000 lb towing capacity 18-MPG city & 25-MPG highway 2.8-liter Turbo-Diesel - GM's Exclusive Duramax 181-horsepower 369 lb-ft of torque 7,700 towing capacity Up to 30-MPG highway The 2019 Chevrolet Colorado my pals at Martin Chevrolet put me in to test drive was the sweet ride you see in all these pics.  It was a 2WD LT Crew Cab Short Box with the Redline Special Edition package.  And, I loved it. LT Trim Redline Edition So, the '19 Chevy Colorado I drove had a sticker price in the $37k range.  However, as always, two things on price.  Specifically why you should never worry about MSRP: You have to get your Chevrolet Colorado equipped the way you want. More importantly, go to my friends at Martin Chevrolet and they'll give you the best deal while assuring you're in a Chevy you love!

Likewise, the Colorado finally gives the compact truck market a modern competitor, but it too has a host of flaws. How much those flaws matter to individuals winds up being a point of discussion, revolving around yet another viewer asking about buying a Mazda6. Another viewer complains about us complaining about the Mazda MX-5 Miata's seats. Finally we answer which is more enjoyable to drive: the Scion FR-S/Subaru BRZ or the Miata?

It has maintained its basic competitive premise in which sixteen to twenty contestants, the castaways, are split into tribes and assigned separate camps at the filming's location, typically a tropical setting. As a tribe, the castaways must survive the elements, construct shelter, build fire, look for water, and scrounge for food and other necessities for the entire filming period, around 39 days. In the first half of the game, the tribes face off in challenges, some for rewards of food, shelter, or luxury items, while others are for immunity, preventing the winning tribe from having to go to the next Tribal Council. The Ford's high point: its new EcoBoost 3.5-liter V6. Next, we sample GM's new compact truck, the GMC Canyon and its twin Chevrolet Colorado. We're impressed overall, but buyers expecting the driving experience of a car-based crossover SUV in this truck might be disappointed. (Like Tom is.) Plenty of viewers asked questions about our reliability data. One protests factoring infotainment systems into vehicle reliability, while another asks about improving reliability in a car's later model years. We answer a question about the Scion FR-S/Subaru BRZ vs. the Honda Civic Si. Funny how that question helps us answer another viewer's query about a reliable coupe for under $20,000. The gang struggles - only for a bit - to choose between the Honda Accord V6 and the Acura TLX. Finally, we tease next week's episode, featuring the Dodge Challenger.
