This week we are rereleasing a live podcast recording (on November 17, 2023) from the Resilience Summit that happened at local event center, Little Lights on the Lane. This day-long ...
Barry and Abigail discuss All the Little Lights by Passenger and sample Voodoo Ranger Atomic Pumpkin from New Belgium Brewing Company in Fort Collins, Colorado; Heads Will Roll from Yeasty Brews Artisanal Beers in Lauderhill, Florida; and Pumpkin Spies from Dangerous Minds Brewing Company in Pompano Beach, Florida. Abigail saw Passenger live in Orlando on September 7, 2013 - the first concert tickets she bought with her own money, as a 19th birthday present to herself! Unfortunately, the setlist is not available online, but you can see the frequently played songs on that tour here. Ed Sheeran and Passenger recorded an acoustic mash-up of No Diggity by Blackstreet featuring Dr. Dre and Queen Pen and Thrift Shop (feat. Wanz) by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis. Watch it here! Holes reminded Abigail of Oh! by Eric Hutchinson. Barry likewise compared it to Hard Times for an Honest Man by John Mellencamp (which Abigail thinks sounds a lot like Mellencamp's version of I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus). Up next… Tim by The Replacements Jingles are by our friend Pete Coe. Visit Anosmia Awareness for more information on Barry's condition. Barry, Abigail, and special guest Aaron “The Farmer” Dahlstedt discuss Aaron's Jukebox submission, Empire by Queensrÿche, and sample Cascade from Union Hill Cider Co. in East Wenatchee, Washington; Dragontail IPA from Icicle Brewing Company in Leavenworth, Washington; and Blueberry Cider from Tieton Cider Works in Yakima, Washington. Barry and Abigail met Aaron as Patreon subscribers of Stand Up! with Pete Dominick. Abigail compared the theatricality of Best I Can as an opening track to Astoria by Marianas Trench and Jumpstarted by Jukebox the Ghost. Aaron also randomly selected our next Jukebox episode, Who's Next by The Who, submitted by Todd Sider. This episode, our Season 5 opener, is scheduled to drop on March 7, 2025. Message Pastor JasonIn this illuminating episode, we embark on a transformative journey through the first part of our "Make Disciples" series, focusing on the profound theme of "light shining in the darkness." Drawing inspiration from Leonard Sweet's anecdote about a Swiss church's tradition, we explore the beautiful symbolism of light in our faith and community.Discover how the ancient instructions in Leviticus 24:1-4 about maintaining the Tabernacle's golden lampstand serve as a timeless metaphor for our role as bearers of God's light. As we delve into the significance of the lampstand, we'll uncover how the people of Israel were called to provide pure olive oil, symbolizing their commitment to be a light to the nations. We also connect this Old Testament imagery to the New Testament, where Jesus, our High Priest, tends to us and ensures we shine brightly in a world shrouded in darkness. Through an exploration of Revelation 1:20 and Philippians 2:15, we see how we, as the Church, are meant to reflect Jesus' light to those around us.Join us as we learn that our light is not just for ourselves but a beacon of hope for others. Your presence and light matter greatly to your church family and the world. Tune in and be inspired to let your light shine ever more brightly for the glory of God.Key Scriptures:Leviticus 24:1-4Revelation 1:20Philippians 2:15Topics Covered:Evangelism and DiscipleshipThe symbolism of light in ScriptureThe role of the Church in spreading God's lightListen now and let your light shine!Enjoy this message? Please forgive the fluctuations in the audio levels and quality! Field episodes are tough to control, esp with pared down equipment (and an unexpected device malfunction/last minute substitution). The way the last couple days have gone, I'm grateful that I found the opportunity to record when I did :) It gets better around 1:15 and stays more consistent after that, if you'd like to skip to there. You'll only miss the intro. Plus there are birds throughout! Also, I don't normally offer this, but if you'd like a transcript of the episode lmk @whereschloe on IG and I can forward it to you. A great deal of the source material comes from the article below, so feel free to follow along there if you'd prefer: https://www.hope-wellness.com/... Having said all that, please enjoy! I'm loving this concept and may even continue with additional information on future shows as I learn and experience more. So glad you're here!

Our first episode of Season Three of CKA's Korean American Perspectives podcast series features Steve Park, the Founder and Executive Director of Little Lights Urban Ministries here in Washington, D.C. Since its founding in 1995, Steve Park dedicates his time and energy to serving those especially in need within the African American community. However, it was not always a walk in the park for Steve. In this interview, Steve paints a picture of his upbringing as a Korean immigrant, his transformation from being a devout atheist, the founding of Little Lights, and the work he currently does today during the global pandemic. As we delve into his work in racial reconciliation and his Race Literacy 101 class, Steve reminds us how Korean Americans can do better and play a significant role in the national conversations around Diversity, Equity, and Inclusivity (DEI). «Die heutige Welt ist zeimlich abgefuckt. Wirklich frei sein kann man wohl nur weit draussen in der Natur,» sagt John Charles Ross und sinniert über Heimat und Wildnis zu gleichen Teilen romantisch, progressiv und selbstzweifelnd. Mit Wild Pink gibt er Americana einen Indie-Anstrich und pachtet Pathos, Weitblick und gleich mehrere Hits. «A Billion Little Lights» ist seine 3.

The Report on Unidentified Flying Objects Ch. 4 The Classics - Paranormal, UFO and Fringe News Podcast Straight from the horse's mouth', as they say. Edward Ruppelt was the first head of the U.S. Air Force's Project Blue Book, the official project initiated to investigate UFO reports beginning in 1952. This report from 1956 takes us inside these initial investigations, separates fact from fiction, and gives insight into who, when, where, and how sightings were reported and researched in open-minded fashion (for which Ruppelt was renowned), rather than in the typical hushed and secretive (and censored) manner most often associated with government and military reports which are released to the public. Dozens of specific sightings are recounted, although hundreds more had come pouring into the agency during the period covered (and hundreds, if not thousands more that were never officially reported). Here we go inside the workings of Project Blue Book, which had evolved from 2 earlier Air Force projects, and we are witness to interviews, press conferences, Pentagon briefings, and many reports from civilian and military pilots, Air Traffic Controllers, office workers, farmers, and the man on the street who reported their accounts with UFOs. And not all sightings that were reported were restricted to the U.S. Although Project Blue Book would continue until 1969, here we witness an in-depth account from it's inception and it's earliest stages, the political obstacles, the houndings from the press, the overall confusion encountered during and following many of the sightings, and the near hysteria caused during the heyday of UFO sightings, and all from the man who headed up the project in it's earliest years. The second edition of Ruppelt's work was supplemented with 3 additional chapters which were added in 1960, and we are fortunate that they are included here. At age 25, Steve Park started tutoring kids in his parent’s Taekwondo studio in a low-income D.C. neighborhood. Twenty-five years later, that humble enterprise has grown into Little Lights, a non-profit serving the youth and families in the Potomac Gardens, Hopkins, and Benning Terrace public housing complexes of Southeast D.C., where families of four struggle to survive on annual incomes that average $12,000-to-$14,000. When I spoke to Steve back in 2016, Little Lights employed 13 full-time and 40 part-time staff, many of whom live in the communities they serve; utilized 120 volunteers; and was the number one job provider in the low-income D.C. housing community. Steve updates us on their work and, more importantly, shares the joy that comes from empowering under-served youth and families through practical assistance, racial reconciliation, and the love of Jesus Christ.
Steve shares about his existential crisis from a bad drug experience, his sister’s compassionate embrace, and how he founded Little Lights
We all want a beautiful and fulfilling life. It is possible for us to live fully and deeply, yet because of fear we constantly limit our experience of life. Our fears often seem justified. Yet on deeper reflection we can see that there is way more reason to live each moment with faith rather than with fear. This episode explores the flawed logic of fear and the deeper logic of faith. Through reasoning we can begin to let go of fear in all its forms and embrace the more sensible path of living with faith, which allows us to experience and enjoy the full depth and beauty of life. The poem in this episode “Knee Deep In Life” is from my book Little Lights - available now.
In the last few decades science has found that the human heart is way more than just a pump. That, in fact, through the heart we can understand, communicate with, and affect the world around us in ways that indigenous people and spiritual traditions have taught for thousands of years - ways that we in our modern culture have forgotten. In this episode I am sharing some of those findings and what they mean for us who have grown up conditioned by a dysfunctional culture. Much of the findings I talk about in this episode has come from the Heart Math Institute and from a book called The Secret Teachings of Plants. The poem in this episode is called "Sit in the Forest" from my book Little Lights :) available now :) Happy Christmas! :) -Solman

In this episode, we discuss the importance of safe spaces. They are certainly important for minority or marginalized people to associate to freely air grievances without feeling a need to defend themselves. Less often we hear about safe spaces in regards to white people. Steve Park, executive director and founder of Little Lights in Washington DC, joins the episode to talk about the community guidelines he has erected for a Race Literacy 101 class and why that's necessary to fostering healthy dialogue on the topic of race.

Our 21st installment of the Extra Lore series brings Blue, Green, Beard, and returning guest co-host BelleBunny together to discuss the powerful story of Hellblade - well, at least Green and Belle do. Blue and Beard, having not gotten a chance to really play (Blue has watched some of the game played and all of the cutscenes) really took a chance to take a back seat to the conversation. A large point of the discussion with this particular title was that of the emphasis on mental health - inside and outside of the game.Note that while the game itself is rather gruesome - we do manage to keep it pretty PG in regards to the chat. There are a bit of more brutal concepts discussed, so anyone who isn't comfortable or have Little Lights listening in with you should just keep that in mind. Indie folk rocker Passenger aka Mike Rosenberg is a member of a very exclusive club. His song "Let Her Go" has surpassed one billion plays on YouTube. But Mike wasn't an overnight sensation. After his band folded in 2009, Mike traveled the world singing for money on sidewalks. He practiced his craft as a solo singer-songwriter, releasing several records himself, until his song "Let Her Go" caught fire and changed his life. I hung out for a bit with Mike while he was doing a short small venue tour in advance of the release of his latest record Young as the Morning Old as the Sea. We talked about his time on the streets busking, keeping his songs simple but effective, surviving a band breakup to go solo, and more. Listen to our chat. Tracks played on the radio edit... 1) Passenger, Young as the Morning Old as the Sea (2016) "Somebody's Love" 2) Passenger, Wicked Man's Rest (2007) "Things You've Never Done" (background) 3) Passenger, All the Little Lights (2012) "Let Her Go" 4) Passenger, All the Little Lights (2012) "I Hate (Live From The Borderline, London)" 5) Passenger, Wide Eyes Blind Love (2009) "Underwater Bride" 6) Passenger, Young as the Morning Old as the Sea (2016) "The Long Road" NO songs CANCON
