As we transition to the offseason, it's time to start evaluating individual Flyers players and who else should we start with than star rookie Matvei Michkov!Charlie, Kelly & Bill discuss Michkov's stats, relationship with the coaching staff (read: John Tortorella), his Calder Trophy odds, and what they expect of The Mad Russian in Year 2.Plus, news breaks that Rocky Thompson and other assistant coaches won't be retained, a Tankathon spin, a Stanley Cup Playoff conversation and a look at the Phantoms first round Calder Cup Playoff matchup against the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins with Madeline Campbell.
The Philadelphia Flyers have won 3 straight games following John Tortorella's firing, matching their longest stretch of victories this season.Given the draft lottery implications, and everything that has transpired this year, Charlie, Kelly & Bill debate whether these wins are wasting a “lost season.”The gang also looks at Matvei Michkov's Calder odds, as well as The Mad Russian's rankings among rookies in the league and Flyers historically.Plus, a Tankathon spin, a look at the newest Flyer Karsen Dorwart, and more!
For at least one game, the Philadelphia Flyers looked like a team not in the midst of a full-on tank following John Tortorella being relieved of his head coaching duties earlier Thursday.Matvei Michkov recorded his 16th multi-point game, picking up a goal and an assist in a 3-goal first period for the Orange & Black and added a second goal in the 3rd to get to 22 goals and 54 points on the season.Charlie, Kelly & Bill react to the Flyers' first post-Torts performance, and huge nights for the captain and Mad Russian.
After John Tortorella's latest controversial benching of Matvei Michkov on Thursday night, Charlie & Bill are back to debate everyone's favorite topic: the Mad Russian's ice time! We're also talking Scott Laughton, Rasmus Ristolainen and all things Trade Deadline, the Calder & playoff races, goaltending and more!
Matvei Michkov has 7 points in his last 7 games and the Philadelphia Flyers have won 3 straight. Can the Mad Russian, along with a re-energized Sean Couturier and emerging Noah Cates line, get the Flyers back into the Stanley Cup Playoff picture? And should it even be a consideration? The trade deadline is 9 days away, and rumors regarding the futures of Scott Laughton and Rasmus Ristolainen are beginning to pick up steam. Is this the year Danny Briere pulls the trigger?Plus, our daily Tankathon spin, a look at Jamie Drysdale, and much more!
Matvei Michkov certainly appears rested! The Mad Russian netted his 17th goal of the year just 2 minutes into his first game back and added a couple of assists in a dominant effort for the Flyers against Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl and the Edmonton Oilers.Charlie, Bill & Steve break down the Flyers' big win, and how today's performance could encourage a push for a Wild Card Playoff spot.
Alex Ovechkin moved closer to Wayne Gretzky's all-time scoring record, notching goal #879 in the first period of Thursday's game. His Russian counterpart in Orange & Black put on a show of his own for his legendary countryman, tallying a pair of goals and nearly netting his first career hat trick on a 3rd period Michigan attempt that came oh-so-close.Ultimately, it was the Capitals prevailing in South Philly thanks to a couple third period goals.Bill & Kelly break down the loss, and what was possibly the best game of The Mad Russian's career.
Matvei Michkov has fallen out of favor over the last few weeks, falling behind Macklin Celebrini, Lane Hutson and even Dustin Wolf in the Calder Trophy race. But a recent hot streak has re-opened the possibility for The Mad Russian to get back into the conversation.Similarly, the Flyers looked to be trending towards the basement with a 5-10-2 stretch from December 5th through January 9th. But with 4 wins and 9 points in their last 5 games, the Orange & Black are right back in it.Bill & Charlie discuss both the Calder & playoff races, as well as the decision to call up Rodrigo Ābols after placing Ryan Poehling on IR.

DuPont was in the fashion business. The industrial giant cultivated markets for its novel synthetic textiles, such as Rayon, by interfacing with the wider world of fashion. This process brought one Alexis Ureyvitch Sommaripa, later known as “The Mad Russian,” to prominence. This elegant, cultured man was born in the Russian Empire in Odessa, Ukraine, fled the revolution as a teenager, and migrated to the United States with the goal to become “a rich American.” From there, his path led him through Harvard, Alabama, Lowell, Buffalo, to New York City. Along the way, he shaped the ways in which DuPont did business, and how American women preferred to dress. Professor Regina Blaszczyk, business historian at the University of Leeds, tells the story of Sommaripa as part of her book project, The Synthetics Revolution. Sommaripa developed statistical methods to describe the textile and fashion markets, used this information to influence production techniques, and eventually headed the DuPont Fabric Development Service. The FDS was a corporate organ designed to triangulate between DuPont, textile makers, and American consumers. During the 1930s, its influence and its significance of synthetic materials to the fashion industry grew, until by 1940 the “average American woman” wanted not silk, but a Rayon dress. In support of her research, professor Blaszczyk received funding from the Center for the History of Business, Technology, & Society. About a quarter mile south of Rudy's Bridge, right in the middle of the Fraser River, there lies a small island with a steep, rocky shoreline on three sides and a gradual rocky beach in its lee. It's accessible in winter, and sometimes when the river is really low, but most of the time it's surrounded by fast-flowing water. Actually, it is quite an unremarkable island, not unlike many others up and down the river, but this little piece of land is known by the locals as the Mad Russian's Island, and therein lies a story. Hawkeye is an American television action-adventure crime miniseries, created for Marvel by Jonathan Igla. This series, directed by Rhys Thomas, is the fifth show from the MCU states and picks up after the events of Avengers: Endgame. Jeremy Renner reprises his role as Clint Barton and Hailee Steinfield joins him as Kate Bishop.Let's dig into some trivia from the series now.1. Jeremy Renner was initially supposed to reprise his role as Hawkeye in a feature-length standalone movie. However, Kevin Feige believed that it would better serve the character to opt for the Disney+ series, and Renner too gave his nod to the idea. 2. Both Jeremy Renner and Hailee Steinfeld trained themselves in American Sign Language in order to interact with actress Alaqua Cox and make her feel welcomed. Cox, who essays the part of Maya Lopez, aka Echo in the show, was born deaf. Echo is the second deaf character in the MCU after Makkari, played by Lauren Ridloff in Eternals. 3. In the series, Hawkeye aka Clint Barton is seen sporting the same tattoos he wore on his arms in Avengers Endgame. It seems the makers were steadfastly focused on maintaining continuity in the universe. 4. The song that plays in the background of the car chase scene in the third episode is A Mad Russian's Christmas by Trans-Siberian Orchestra.5. Tony Dalton's character Jack Duquesne was originally Clint Barton's mentor in earlier comic books. Jack would eventually turn villain and later return as an anti-hero, but their origin stories were alerted and retconned in favour of a different origin story. In later iterations, Trick-shot would become Barton's mentor and Jack would teach Barton how to use a sword. If you haven't watched this mini-series yet do so streaming exclusively on Disney + HotstarThat's the OTTplay Now You Know, I shall be back again with another episode soon. Until then it's your host Nikhil signing out.
There is an island that exists on the Fraser River near the Rudy Johnson Bridge that holds a mystery. For a while during the 1950's a man appeared virtually out of nowhere and began to inhabit the island. No one knew his name, where he came from or anything else about him. Todays episode explores the details surrounding his homestead there, what his reasons were for being there and his mysterious disappearance.

In Part 3 of 4 — of the Bryan Alzate Story, “Hell Has an Entrance”, we join Bryan on his road to recovery, at the very beginning of his sobriety and his entrance into the 12 step program. After completing his stay at Detox, Bryan get's picked by his parents. The approach his dad took was something Bryan really struggled with. As its common - people who just don't know any different, blame the drugs as being the sole reason for all of the addict's problems. As soon as Bryan gets in the car, his dad made it very clear that this was his last chance. That he wouldn't be putting up with his shit any more and that he needed to man up and get his life together. He needed to cut the crap, finish school, go to college, and get a job. As Bryan sat quietly in the back seat, his dad continued on. He felt it was an important parenting moment - he had to take this opportunity to really let Bryan know that this was it. That he had to just “get over” the drugs and grow up. He had no clue that while he yelled and screamed, his son was in the back seat contemplating suicide. They were living in two completely different worlds. Thankfully, Bryan had learned about meetings at detox. Something clicked and he realized that maybe it would be a good idea to give it a shot. At 17 years old, Bryan was ready to try and get clean. He figured he had two options - try anything, or end it all. What happens next is an odyssey into recovery. Bryan talks about the key relationships he formed & the magic and spiritual power of the 12 step program. He dives deep into his first year clean and opens up in detail about the good, the bad and the ugly. With the help and support of countless strangers, the Mad Russian, his amazing high-school teacher Mrs. Dean, and a commitment to recovery, Bryan begins to see the light at the end of the tunnel. The Bomber" Dave Mastiff def. Joseph Conners in a Heritage Cup First Round Match Two of NXT UK's hardest hitters clashed in exactly the fashion one would expect, exchanging hard strikes throughout, though no falls were scored until the third round. Dave Mastiff became the first Superstar to win a Heritage Cup bout via knockout, as he blasted Joseph Conners with a massive right hand to put him on dream street and advance. Piper Niven def. Isla Dawn Isla Dawn nearly scored an upset, landing several near-falls against Piper Niven, including a breathtakingly close instance following a top-rope Meteora. Niven fought out of a modified Dragon Sleeper, dropping The White Witch with a high-angle back suplex before connecting with a running corner cannonball and planting her with a Michinoku Driver for the victory. Ilja Dragunov & Pete Dunne def. WALTER & Alexander Wolfe The NXT United Kingdom Champion and Ilja Dragunov gave the NXT UK Universe a sneak peek of their highly anticipated title bout in two weeks, punishing each other with signature offense. WALTER seemingly grew frustrated with his inability to put The Mad Russian away, netting only a two-count after a massive release German suplex. He took out his frustration by delivering blistering chops, making mincemeat of Dragunov's chest. But Dragunov fought his way out of WALTER's sleeper with relentless strikes of his own, and somehow summoned the strength to hit a Gotch lift suplex on the much larger champion. Pete Dunne, competing in his first NXT UK bout in more than a year, neutralized Alexander Wolfe on the outside by splaying his fingers, giving Dragunov an opening to connect with Torpedo Moscow on The Ring General. Becoming the first NXT UK Superstar to pin WALTER, Dragunov's victory left everyone wondering if he'll be able to repeat this unbelievable feat come Oct. 29 in a one-on-one setting with the NXT United Kingdom Title on the line. https://anchor.fm/jesse-markes https://www.podchaser.com/podcasts/markesinwheelchair-1371389 https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/markesinwheelchair/id1524667030 https://anchor.fm/jesse-markes/support https://markespodcast.blogspot.com https://www.facebook.com/groups/markespodcast/?notif_id=1598883943162363¬if_t=group_invited_to_group&ref=notif https://www.stitcher.com/s?eid=77348908 https://www.breaker.audio/markesinwheelchair-1 share with your friends #markesinwheelchair https://www.iheart.com/podcast/269-markesinwheelchair-69193952/ #india #uk #usa #canada #russiahttps://anchor.fm/jesse-markes https://www.podchaser.com/podcasts/markesinwheelchair-1371389 https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/markesinwheelchair/id1524667030 https://anchor.fm/jesse-markes/support https://markespodcast.blogspot.com https://www.facebook.com/groups/markespodcast/?notif_id=1598883943162363¬if_t=group_invited_to_group&ref=notif https://www.stitcher.com/s?eid=77348908 https://www.breaker.audio/markesinwheelchair-1 share with your friends #markesinwheelchair https://www.iheart.com/podcast/269-markesinwheelchair-69193952/ #india #uk #usa #canada #russia #wwenxt #review for 10/14 --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/jesse-markes/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/jesse-markes/support

Next we discuss Dr. Gregory Caplinger. This man invented an amazing serum that cured cancer, AIDs, and any other scary disease you could imagine. His hospital was some rickety old shack in South America, far out of the perview of the FDA. Spoiler alert, people died. Finally we discuss the case of April Reed. This case was suggested by one of our listeners and it is personal to them because it was their sibling. Apparently this young woman was gunned down by her uncle for unknown reasons. ------------------------------- For more Josh and Mike, check out our YouTube channels! October 27, 1946 - This old time radio episode of the Jack Benny Program is famous for the mistake that Mary Livingstone made when trying to say "Swiss Cheese". They mention dance instructor Arthur Murry, musician union president Patrillo, ballplayer Hank Greenberg, and the fictional character The Mad Russian. They also mention the department store Eastern Columbia, the Native American baby carrier a papoose, a Lincoln quote "You can fool all of the people some of the time and some of the people all of the time, but you cannot fool all of the people all of the time.".
Technical issues plague your old pals Jim and Sean, however, they soldier through and deliver quality content ranging from the unapologetic Pastor Wilson to former Lone Shark viewer the "Mad Russian". We go down the YouTube rabbit hole and sample the non-PC stylings of Freddie Prinze.

Nicole and Rafe Ward of Forgotten Ciders are celebrating 3 years of cidermaking this April of 2017. This Michigan cidery has over 1000 variety of apples growing on 16 acres, many of which are cider varieties and red fleshed to boot! Rafe's Grandfather Douglas Eastman and Uncle John Eastman started planting apples trees 30 years ago to what would one day become Eastman Antique Apples. Eight years ago Rafe, his parents and brother bought the apple orchard. After getting involved in the family's orchard, Rafe Ward began making cider in their basement and then realized that the fruit could be transformed in to liquid gold. Rafe says, "It was a happy day when I realized I own an orchard and I could make alcohol out of them apples." Nicole mentions, "It was good fortune that the family didn't pull up the apple trees thinking that because they didn't taste good they weren't worth growing." Forgotten Ciders are made out of a 100% fresh pressed apple juice. Aside from adding yeast, there is no back sweetening or sugar added up front. The brilliant shades of red that are visible in their bottles of Mad Russian, Hot N Cider and others is derived straight from the apple varieties that they are using. Ah Ha Moments for the Wards 1. A classic show with two classic comedians. Prior to the show, Eddie Cantor makes a phone calls to get Jackk Benny on his show. He has to wait until Jack takes care of some important business at the local drugstore. As the show begins, Eddie chats with announcer, Harry Vonzell about how stingy Jack is, then keeps giving Jack the brush off. Hattie McDaniels joins the teasing by commenting on both Rochester and Jack.Once Jack makes it on stage, he and Eddie take a few jabs at each other, and Jack plugs his new film, Washigton Slept Here. Jack is such a humble soul. (wink, wink)Eddie is polite as Jack talks about his acting prowess, but when Jack leaves for a moment, Eddie tells Harry what he really thinks. Dinah Shore arrives to sing, and Jack calls her aside to try to woo her away from the show. When it doesn't work she sings,m White Christmas. Hey, it may be out of season, but it gives you something to think about on a hot Summer day. Next, Jack tries to win Harry Vonzell away from the show, but it just leads to a segway for a commercial.Upset over the ordeal, Eddie impersonates Rochester for a prank phone call to Jack. The Mad Russian doesn't have any qualms about leaving Eddie. His loyalties are so fickle. After another commercial break, Jack accompanies Eddie on violin as he sings, Ida Sweet as Apple Cider. Of course, getting a few pitches for their respective sponsors.Bonus Track:Tommy Dorsey. 1942. Marie. And a little fun with Keith and the Retrobots.
Dennis opens with the song, Clancy Lowers the Boom. Mr Anderson, in his younger days, has written love letters to a famous star. He has Dennis help him get the letters back. Dennis tries to distract the actress with an impression of the Mad Russian. The two decide to audition for the theatrical production so they can get close and steal the incriminating letters back. Some great impressions and stylistic singing by Dennis. Dennis wraps up by singingm, All of Your Heart. Bonus Track: The Tune Wranglers. Ain't Gonna Rain No More.
