To celebrate International Women's Day, Sean, Cal, Katie and Dave are shining a light on a Salford Harrier. Sinéad is an amazing local female athlete who is not only a fantastic runner, but who has been taking the Hyrox world by storm. She has pbs of 16:43 for the 5k, 34:17 for 10k and is the Hyrox open solo world record holder with a time of 58:47, as well as the women's doubles age group world record holder in the 30-39 age category, with a time of 57:31. Sinéad talks about how she first got into running at school then how Duncan Mason helped her being a coach that goes that extra mile. She tells us about Salford Harriers and how much support from the womens team as well as then mens. Sinéad is a physio and she tries to convince us that strength work is needed more and more for runners. She talks about the common injuries. We couldnt get Sinéad on without talking about Hyrox. Sinéad tells us about the TWO WORLD RECORDS she has as well as how she got involved, and when she knew she was good at it. Katie asked Sinéad questions around International Womens Day and Sinéad gave her opinions on issues that women face in sport. Eilish McColgan recently posted about negative comments she receives and Sinéad gives her view on this as well. Although it is a running podcast, Sinéad had to pick between Running and Hyrox... which one do you think she picked?Race reviews included National XC, MACCL, Tokyo Marathon and the much anticipated TAMESIDE 5k FESTIVAL.The team give updates on the last 3 weeks which saw Dave compete in the National but had some sore ankles after as well as a 3 hour POWER nap, Sean is in full swing marathon training with no injuries or colds and he is still on Sundays breaded chicken, Katie is buzzing after representing Greater Manchester at the Inter Counties XC, and Cal is keeping consistent in his training hitting a sub 18 Parkrun. This episode is collaboration with Protein Rebel .Protein Rebel provides natural sports nutrition for runners that's easy to digest and tastywhile delivering both performance and health benefits. Why I am talking more about men for this years International Women's Day. In all transparency, last IWD I wasn't thrilled at the prospect of celebrating another day filled with purple balloons, cupcakes and being told to hug ourselves. The whole thing was starting to make me cringe. How will all this smash the patriarchy? Now this sounds crazy to you and me both because I know how important days like this are for raising awareness - thats the whole point of awareness days / weeks / months, but that's just the thing - has it lost it's way? For me its about reminding everyone why it's still important to work on gender equity because we are still not there yet and the recent and some that seem neverending events around the world where by women and children are the ones really feeling the dire and often demoralising consequences are enough to make anyone think why bother? However this is exactly why we need to. The time is NOW. There's a lot of despair in the world right now around women's rights and gender equity. I cannot believe what I am seeing.I feel like we are going backwards; although maybe this is what others want us to believe; in fact maybe it's just the opposite. This concerning pushback threatens bodily autonomy, sees increasing gender-based violence, and systemic barriers that hold women and marginalised communities back. So this moment is not just about defending progress; it's about driving change forward. And as change gains momentum so does pushback. And in Florence's words "It's always darkest before the dawn". And this is why I see the huge and powerful place for male allyship now more than ever. Those men that get it. Those men that can see the harmful impact that lack of inclusivity and equity has for women in the world. I have started sharing male allies when I see them over on my insta stories @nomorehiningco and saving them in a highlight in case you ever need a reminder that they are out there. Because that's the thing - No More Hiding isn't just about women being more visible, it's about everyone being more visible for the things that matter - speaking out and sharing their lived experiences and ideas about how we can be more inclusive and hear more perspectives around those decision making tables. Thats how we make a difference and thats how change happens So in this series we explore the crucial role male allies play in creating more equitable workplaces. We'll dive into why male allyship is essential—not just for women's career progression, but for building healthier, more successful organizations overall. When we talk about workplace gender equality, the focus often falls on policies and initiatives. But true change doesn't happen without action—and that's where male allies come in. In this series, we'll unpack what real allyship looks like, why it's not enough to just “support” women behind the scenes, and how visibility and advocacy from men can make all the difference. Throughout the series, we'll be joined by industry leaders, workplace culture experts, and professionals who have firsthand experience with allyship in action. We'll explore the challenges, the impact, and the simple yet powerful ways men can step up in their workplaces. From amplifying women's voices in meetings to actively advocating for equal opportunities, we'll break down what meaningful allyship looks like—and why it benefits everyone. I saw a quote that struck a chord with me from Lilly tomlin and she said “ I always wondered why somebody doesn't do something about that..theh I realised I was somebody” So, if you're ready to learn, challenge assumptions, and take action, you're in the right place. -------------- Book a chat with Gemma - This is the place to book a call to see how Gemma can help you or your company support female leaders to raise their profile, increase performance and visibility and build more allies. In this episode, we're marking International Women's Day—a time to reflect on the achievements of women, the challenges they continue to face, and the role that faith, society, and activism play in advancing gender equality. For those that may not be aware, International Women's Day is marked annually on March 8th to recognize the achievements of women and advocate for gender equality. It has its roots in the early 20th century, emerging from labour movements and socialist activism. This year's theme, "Accelerate Action", reminds us that progress towards true equality cannot wait. As we strive for justice, it is essential to recognise that Islam has long championed the rights of women 1400yrs ago —granting them dignity, independence, and status at a time when many societies denied them even the basic of human rights. From the right to education, financial independence, and leadership to the profound respect Islam gives to the roles of mothers, daughters, and women in all spheres of life, the teachings of the Holy Qur'an and the example of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) provide a timeless framework for gender justice.

This week on the Global Research News Hour, as we go on air on the eve of International Womens Day, we review the state of the womens movement today and reveal its many shortcomings and uses in fact to enable the male dominated fields of imperialism, and war against Mother Nature. In our first half hour, Professor Claudia Von Werlhof joins us to talk about the principle of fighting Patriarchy which is missing in the modern womens movement and about how we must tackle it before our silence rips apart the Earth itself. Then in our second half hour we are joined once again by author, broadcaster and journalist Sonali Kolhatkar to share some of the history of the dismantling ofk establishment of womens rights in Afghanistan as being linked to US imperalistic control. Finally, we talk to Nour Jaghama, a Palestinian-American and CODEPINK organizer about how the feminist movement in the US is being exploited as an enabler of imperialist control at the expense of the rights of women in Palestine, Iran and elsewhere.
International Womens Day is coming up this week so it feels timely to explore this topic of Claiming Our Rightful Place as Women in Business and what we can do to step fully and confidently into our authority. We talk about the superpowers we uniquely have as women in business what might hinder our ability to take our rightful place and leave you with some profound words of wisdom from a much loved English treasure. Apologies for the slightly less than perfect audio quality in the first couple of minutes of the intro, we've sorted it for the main part of the episode so hopefully it won't deter anyone from listening on, and we really hope you enjoy the conversation. It's International Women's day on Saturday - and before you ask, 19th November is International Men's Day - it's also Women in Construction Week this week. Tradeswomen play a vital role in making the trade what they are so today we are celebrating everything they do. We're asking if there are enough women within the trade? We want to know what we can do to encourage more women onto site? And we're asking you if there are any misconceptions around women in the trade or even the trade itself that might be hampering more women getting involved! We were joined by some fantastic women in the industry Emily, Deb and Freya to hear why they love the trade- plus you can also play the pub lunch quiz for your chance to grab yourself 6 points and you'll hear the very best messages that we received - enjoy!

Many years ago when I ran a women's network, I noticed that many of the women had been told once too often 'no, you can't do that, you're just a woman', and they had come to believe it. I realised that the encouragement and mentorship I'd received from my Dad, my bosses and mentors over the years, was rare. So in my opening talk for my network, I shared the lessons and inspiration I'd had the fortune of being given, which made a big difference in my life and career. And they loved it. So this year for International Women's Day, I thought I'd share those lessons here for listeners of the Art of Value Whispering Podcast. In this episode, you'll learn that: You should only listen to those who respect you Your ideas and vision are worth being heard You don't have to do everything people ask of you Saying 'Yes!' to opportunities that interest can accelerate your growth Being a parent makes you more valuable as you learn badass leadership skills! I hope you enjoy this special episode. And I invite you to share your thoughts, stories and inspiration with other women in the free community that accompanies this show: the Dream Clients Club. We celebrated International Women's Day by honoring some of the incredible women in our lives. Plus, Ashley Cooke stops by and talks about new music, the full-circle moment that happened with her current single "It's Been A Year" and which artist has the best catering on tour! Then, Lunchbox and his wife are in a big debate because of something that happened to her laptop, and now she thinks he owes her a new one. But he thinks she should pay for it. Hear what happened whose side you're on!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
It's International Women's Day and Chapel Hart is in studio to help celebrate! They tell us a woman who has inspired them, what it was like coming from a massive family and why they feel like they are living their glory days right now. Then, find out why Morgan thinks her house is haunted. She brought proof to show everyone, hear what they think! Mailbag: a listener and her partner are extremely competitive with each other and took an IQ test to see who is smarter. They both have different strengths when it comes to their knowledge though. She knows if she loses, he will never let her live it down. She wants to know if the show would do it with their spouses and if they should take the test. We share our thoughts!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
