In the first of our Rosebuds in the week of International Women's Day, Gyles meets Dame Mary Archer, the scientist and former Chairs of Addenbrooke's Hospitals Trust and the Science Museum Group, made a Dame for her service to the NHS. Gyles talks to Dame Mary about her childhood, nurtured by a father who was highly ambitious for his daughters, who gave her a lifelong love of music. They talk about her interest in science, which began at primary school, and she and Gyles discuss whether scientists think differently to other people. They talk about Mary's time at Oxford University, where she studied chemistry and met and married Jeffrey Archer - and Gyles asks Mary about their relationship, and what drew these two apparently very different characters to each other. Mary and Gyles talk about some of the challenges she and Jeffrey have faced as a couple and about Mary's career as a scientist, and in public life. This is a long and in-depth conversation which gives a different, scientific, perspective on life. It's fascinating. Our thanks to Dame Mary Archer. Don't forget to subscribe to our YouTube here. In honour of International Women's Day, Dial Emma presents The Unsaid – a four-part mini-series exploring the emotional realities many women are living with, but rarely have language for. Each episode features two listener dilemmas and twenty minutes of thoughtful, compassionate reflection on the inner work women are doing beneath the surface of competence, independence and survival. This first instalment explores a theme that resonates deeply for many of us: doing objectively well in life, but still feeling wrong beneath it all.Our first dilemma comes from a listener who says that nothing is wrong in her life, but something about it doesn't feel right, either. Our second listener feels like she has ticked every box, but finds herself contending with a sense of itchiness and dissatisfaction. In this episode, I explore functional freeze, delayed desire, the pressure to feel grateful, and the quiet awakening of something more honest beneath achievement.---Dial Emma is hosted by Emma Reed Turrell, produced by Lauren Brook.---Social media:Emma Reed Turrell @emmareedturrellDial Emma @dialemmapodcastEmail: contact@dial-emma.uk

In today's episode, Liam analyzes the USWNT's opening match of the 2026 She Believes Cup, with a 2–0 win over Argentina that extended their unbeaten start to the year and recorded a third straight clean sheet. This episode breaks down the performance through a tactical lens, looking at the evolving shape of the team in and out of possession, Lindsey Heaps dropping into build-up, the role fullbacks played pushing high, and how the team's pressing strategy under Emma Hayes evolves with new figures on the pitch.LDG also assesses defensive structure, second-ball control, and what Kennedy Wesley's composure on the ball might mean for the center-back depth chart. In midfield, we examine how the Heaps–Yohannes–Moultrie trio functioned and what that says about the evolving hierarchy. Finally, LDG turns to the upcoming Canada match, which, after their 4–1 win over Colombia, will pose very different tactical problems to the USWNT with stronger midfield duels and a greater threat in transition. He outlines where the U.S. build-up patterns could be stressed, how the wide channels may decide the match, and what rotation decisions could shape the group.Thank you for listening! This week Ivy Slater, host of Her Success Story, chats about the significance of International Women's Day and the theme "Give to Gain," sharing heartfelt stories about the women and mentors who have shaped her journey. In this episode, we discuss: How the 2026 International Women's Day theme "Give to Gain" shows up in real life through mentorship—why every woman Ivy mentors teaches her just as much in return. What Ivy learned from early role models like her dance teachers, working mothers ahead of her, and icons such as Ruth Bader Ginsburg and a beloved teacher, Mrs. Durkin, about breaking barriers and modeling what's possible. When Ivy was pregnant with her first child and told she couldn't "have the career you want and be a good mom," and how a conversation with her friend Bonnie, a pediatrician, reframed success as "how you show up," not the title you hold. Why 2026 is an invitation to show up as a dynamic, ambitious, grounded woman who becomes a role model simply by living fully—and how every act of mentoring, support, or encouragement is part of "give to gain." How male allies matter too, including Ivy's husband, who backed her decision to start a "crazy" coaching business in 2007 with a simple, powerful message: "You want to do it, figure it out, I'm with you." Ivy Slater is a professionally certified business coach, speaker, best-selling author and podcast host. After owning and operating a 7-figure printing business, having been in the industry for 20 years, she started Slater Success which focuses on developing great leaders and facilitating business growth and expansion. In preparation for International Women's day I wanted to start the conversation on how this day affects us (women) both positively and negatively. Tokenistic events do not contribute to real change. Continuous efforts for women's rights are necessary. Celebrating personal achievements is important. Education can elevate the meaning of IWD events. Self-care should be prioritized during IWD. Networking should extend beyond just one day. True equity requires year-round commitment. It's okay to choose not to attend events.

Moana & the Tribe have long been acknowledged for pushing the boundaries of Māori music. Led by Moana Maniapoto, the band has become one of New Zealand's most successful Māori bands, creating a fusion of politically charged haka-funk-dub music and performing all over the world. They're bringing their global collaboration ‘ONO' to Tāmaki Makaurau as part of the Auckland Arts Festival, and to mark International Women's Day. But this performance is a little bigger than their usual band, Maniapoto telling Jack Tame that she got a bit carried away. "There is a cast of thousands on stage,” she said. ‘ONO' showcases the voice, language, and cultures of six indigenous women from different places Moana & The Tribe has performed, and two of the artists are flying in for the performance – Hawai'i's Kaumakaiwa Kanaka'ole and Australia's Shellie Morris. “I'm really excited to have them come and join us.” “It's gonna be great, and its a celebration of like, mana wāhine and mana reo.” LISTEN ABOVE See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Do you know how to twizzle?! Neither do we! Alice and Elise settle in for another chat, with AB sporting a numb lip, and Elise coming off a filthy cold and a truly rude crook neck. Neither have been doing anything dangerous on the snow or ice, but there's a heap of Winter Olympics chat – the injuries, the drama, the sizzle, the Aussie pride. It's a very surface-level summary focusing on memes, ill-placed declarations of love, violent crashes and why on earth someone created a sport that involves skis AND guns. AB and EB compare the injuries on the slopes to the injuries we face on the roads/trails/track. There is a lot of chat about the advent of bone stress injuries and the online commentary surrounding them. Rest, sleep, nutrition and load management are all your best friends here, and the social media comparison trap is NOT IT. There's also hype building as we come into marathon season, with loads of Australians lining up at Osaka, Tokyo, Boston and London! Truly love this time of year! Sounds like… sounds like braille! What does braille sound like anyway? This week on Outlook we're continuing with braille. What does it sound like, look like, feel like? From the analog to the electronic and the hiss of fingers sliding, reading along braille paper's page, it's the music of the six dots of the Braille code we're listening to on another Braille Literacy Month edition of Outlook with a mixed bag of topics with our first all-back-in-studio show together of the new year. We discuss the upcoming year's Blindness 101 workshops sister/co-host Kerry will be putting on in Ontario, with the next episode's guests coming on to explain how these will work, so we're going over ways to demonstrate the six dot braille cell. Speaking of music and the media, we're also talking accessible guitar amps, sound boards, and other accessible devices in our digital world, all while we're joined (in-studio) by a Western Gazette newspaper representative who's doing a story on Outlook, six years on from some of our first media coverage for the show. Kerry and BF Barry share about their most recent Air Canada flight and requesting seat back entertainment system screen reader activation, requiring the flight crew to turn it on at their station, not to mention the wider helpfulness of the crew on this last flight when such customer service isn't always the case. Plus, an airport inclusion update, from customer service to customs officers. Then there's story time with storyteller brother/co-host Brian and a tale of Mr. Rogers, a young blind fan, and a question about the feeding schedule status of the on-set goldfish. This alongside discussion of some more upcoming Outlook guests, including for March's International Women's Day, while looking back on the previous few years of IWD guests, restorative justice, and a CBC Morning story, in the news, of lived experience of a sexual assault victim minimised in police academy student chat logs. From harsh discrediting to quiet inclusion to book reviews and release announcements (with “The Will To Change” and the January 20th release of “The Culting of America”). We're grateful for accurate media representation, with coverage for this radio show/podcast, but we also needed to end off this one by revisiting the lazy use of “blind” and “blindness” in the commonly used language and culture. Mechanical or manual, slate or sheet. Keys or stylus. These are the sounds of BRAILLe and check out a link to the patchwork of braille sounds we found in this Youtube video we feature to start this week's program which our blind and sighted audience can all get something out of: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HGMsc7G1kiQ

After a short break we're back with regular episodes in 2026 as we make more of our oral history interviews available online for the first time. It's been 21 years since Stan Richards passed away but he is still fondly remembered, this interview was recorded by John Kelly for the Second Sight magazine in 1983. You will hear more interviews from these tapes later in the series. The second half of this episode pays tribute to Geoffrey Hutchinson who died in January 2025, without his hard work and dedication there probably wouldn't be a Maurice Dobson Museum and Heritage Centre here today. Geoff was the first chair of the museum and was responsible along with a small group of volunteers for the first National Lottery Heritage Funding in South Yorkshire. http://www.sherylkline.com/blogIn honor of International Women's Day 2026, I'm sharing a series of research backed and proven processes that truly moves the needle for women in leadership and the organizations that rely on them.In the coming weeks, we'll focus on promotion velocity, retention protection, deepening the leadership bench, and avoiding lost productivity and lost revenue during disruptive times.Given these proven tools, repeatable processes, and pressure proofed frameworks, companies can gain measurable progress, especially when the stakes are high. Today's focus is on two underestimated levers with outsized impact: emotional resilience strategic sponsorshipAs a two-time best selling author, speaker, and certified high performance executive coach, I help women leaders and rising leaders build Olympic level confidence and FBI grade strategic influence that will help them successfully deepen and manage key relationships (internally and externally) as well remain highly performing during disruptive or during times of change.First, let's talk about the many times, invisible roadblocks.Emotional tax is alive and well. The research tells us that it gets more expensive at higher levels AND for women who are further marginalized within our gender. That matters because as stakes rise, the cost of carrying too much without the right tools and strategic sponsorship rises too. If organizations want to retain executive and high potential women, accelerate promotion velocity, and deepen their leadership bench, emotional resilience cannot be left to chance. Neither can strategic sponsorships. What if female leaders have both?Three things.Productivity holds under pressure ... and profitability improvesDuring disruption, leaders who can anchor down and keep moving protect performance. When women leaders have the tools to stay grounded, organizations avoid costly drops in execution, momentum, and outcomes. This is not just leadership development. It's profitable.Leaders stop getting pulled into ego driven dynamicsEgo and narcissistic behaviors exist in many workplaces, internally and externally. Without tools, these dynamics drain bandwidth, derail confidence, and create unnecessary conflict. With the right tools and partnerships, women learn to distance themselves from those behaviors, maneuver around them, and in some cases, get those personalities on their side to support outcomes. That is emotionally protective and tactically smart.Trust and loyalty deepen ... and relationships weather the stormAI matters. And if we hit disruption, what carries organizations through is not technology alone. It's trust, loyalty, and relationships. Leaders who deepen trust and build stronger relationships create stability during instability. That is how companies stay productive and profitable when things get noisy. What can organizations give?First, give proven strategies to sharpen Clarity from the third person. If you've been in my community for a bit, you've heard me say.... Leadership isn't about titles — it's about access, opportunity, and the doors we choose to open for others. In this International Women's Day 2026 Special, we're joined by our event sponsors as we explore this year's theme, Leadership That Opens Doors. Together, we unpack what inclusive leadership really looks like in practice, why International Women's Day matters to all genders, and how everyday decisions shape careers, cultures, and futures across our industry. From creating fair opportunity and challenging quiet bias, to sharing access, visibility, and belief — this conversation is about leadership grounded in reality, not slogans.
Alice and Elise are back for a very 2026 catch-up, starting with Elise's birthday done properly: Torquay Run Club, some casual golfing, and a beer mile relay (with Marty's sculling skills doing the heavy lifting). There's also zucchini cake (thank you, Jess Stenson) and a rogue veggie-patch “zucchini vandal.” Alice talks about getting the “running ick” post-Valencia, what it feels like when motivation drops off, and why a blood test can be a game-changer. She takes us inside training camp life at Falls Creek and how it helped her re-find her mojo. Elise is building back into a marathon block (which one?!). Alice reveals her 2026 goals (water… and being early), and they announce an upcoming International Women's Day event on Sunday 1 March at Collingwood Athletics Track - run + pilates + panel (guest speakers to be revealed). Olympic Gold MedalistThe world of sports I find fascinating to watch! Years of discipline, conditioning, travel, competitions, etc. all go into building a winning athlete & team. Their stories behind the World Championships, Team M.V.P.'s & Gold are even more so. Can an orphan from an abusive childhood, shuffled from foster home to home, even living on the streets, low self-esteem go on to be a winner in life? It starts with the stories about you have in your mind. You have to see it, speak it, mentor with & surround yourself & your environment to condition YOU for victory! What an eye opener to hear about life after the games from one of my friends Olympic Gold Medalist Dana Hee. She is grateful to God for her victories. Dana may be a familiar face, not only from winning the "Gold" bunot only from winning the "Gold" but from television & movies like Mortal Combat, Charlie's Angels, Lethal Weapon & many more. Dana Lynn Hee is an Olympic Gold Medalist and is currently a Hollywood film and television actress, as well as one of an award winning stuntwomen in the entertainment industry. . She has also doubled for Hollywood's top actresses': Nicole Kidman, Uma Thurman, Gwynneth Paltrow, Renee Russo, and Jennifer Garner. She also a noted writer, lecturer and television color commentator, and has an extensive background as a speaker to Fortune 500 companies. It's an understatement to say that Dana's childhood was hard. The child of divorced, alcoholic parents, she endured abuse, abandonment, and despair. The years of being passed back and forth between an orphanage, suicidal family members, halfway houses, a commune, government shelter, and finally a foster home, took their tole. Dana grew up to be a young woman with little self-esteem or self-confidence, and a huge fear of failure. To her, nothing seemed possible. It was as if the two words, 'I can't' were programmed into her mind, and she struggled to escape a lifelong habit of running from her fears. Dana looked within herself for strength and determined to make a change. Armed with an ounce of courage, and a glimpse of hope, she set out to make a dream of hers come true. Through the agonizing, against-the-odds process of this struggle, she made the transformation from a shy, under-achieving, below-average young woman to an Olympic Gold Medalist with a new sense of self-esteem, and, finally, some hope for the future. Her story of how this happened - and the lessons you can take from it - are enough to inspire the most discouraged soul. But Dana didn't stop there. She started accepting speaking engagements, then graduated to keynote speeches. She shifted from martial arts, to modeling, and then acting, before setting her sights on becoming a top Hollywood stuntwoman in the movie industry. If this sounds easy, it wasn't. To this day, Dana battles self-doubts whose roots extend back to her youth. But she never quits. She competes successfully in the world's most challenging industries.Dana's autobiography, One Step with Courage: The Story of My Life From Olympic Gold Medalist to Hollywood Stuntwoman, was released in May 2020. Since launching Thank You, Mama on International Women's Day 2020, I've had the privilege of speaking with extraordinary women from around the world—artists and scientists, CEOs and stay-at-home moms, bestselling authors, pop stars, retirees, and entrepreneurs—about their mothers, their legacies, and the lessons that shape who we become. Across 183 episodes, these conversations have shared deeply personal stories and hard-won wisdom, revealing how universal our experiences are as women, daughters, and sometimes mothers. They've reminded me that being a woman means belonging to a global sisterhood—one we too often forget to draw strength from—and they've changed me profoundly, making me more grounded, grateful, and connected. That growing treasure chest of maternal wisdom has made it clear that it's time to begin work on the Thank You, Mama book, which will gather and share these lessons from mothers around the world. Writing it requires time, reflection, and the same care that has always guided the podcast. To make space for that work while continuing the show sustainably, Thank You, Mama will move to a seasonal format, with episodes released in two seasons each year—spring and fall—separated by intentional breaks. This shift allows the podcast and book to inform one another while keeping the conversations thoughtful and meaningful. Thank you, dear listeners, for being part of this journey and community. The next season of Thank You, Mama will launch later this spring, and I can't wait to share it with you. Subscribe to Ana's new "Mama Loves…" newsletter here. Alex is a qualified International Mountain Leader, Polar Guide, and a professional Photographer based in St. Moritz, Switzerland. From scaling the world's highest peaks to leading expeditions in the Arctic and Antarctica, she thrives where the wild meets the extreme. Her passion for high-altitude exploration took her on a relentless quest; climbing the highest mountain on every continent, culminating on the summit of Mt. Everest in 2018. She became the first ever Hungarian to climb the Seven Summits. This journey ignited her mission to guide others through the raw beauty of the mountains and beyond. In the winter, she guides private snowshoe and fat bike around St. Moritz; in the summer, she leads exhilarating hiking and mountain biking adventures across the Alps. Between her Alps seasons, she's found working in the Polar regions (Antarctica: guide, zodiac driver, lecturer and lead crevasse rescue guide. Arctic: guide, zodiac driver, lecturer and polar bear guard) Her expertise extends far beyond Europe, guiding bespoke expeditions across the globe. An endurance athlete at heart, Alex is always chasing the next adventure—whether Polar ski crossing, racing mountain bikes, or pushing limits in the mountains. As a professional photographer and drone pilot, she uses her lens to capture the world's most remote landscapes, advocate for environmental conservation, and document the stories of the Polar regions. Her work is deeply inspired by mountains, polar history, pioneering female explorers, and the delicate balance of nature. In her recent book: Beyond the Seven Summits: Finding Strength Where the Air is Thin, Alex shares her experiences of climbing these mountains, and she also explores the journey that shaped who she is today: all the highs and lows. I hope to bring these peaks closer to readers by including short historical notes alongside each climb and sharing everything she learned along the way. The book is also rich in photographs, helping to bring both the stories and these beautiful mountains vividly to life. To celebrate International Women's Day, which falls on March 8th, Bababam is replaying Do You Really Know episodes which look at the struggle against inequalities between women and men. All week long, refresh your knowledge about ideas and concepts which promote female empowerment. What is the postpartum period? Many people wrongly assume that all women immediately find their feet after having a baby. In reality, it can be an overwhelming phase which is often neglected. The postpartum period begins as the mother's body starts returning to a non-pregnant state. It's commonly used to refer to the first six weeks following childbirth, but it may last significantly longer, with a range of physical and psychological symptoms. So what actually happens during the postpartum period? Is postpartum just a fancy word for the baby blues then? In under 3 minutes, we answer your questions! efore you plan a single launch or marketing campaign, map out your entire year on paper—one month per page. Start by blocking in birthdays, travel, holidays, and public holidays (including international ones if you sell globally). Then plan your launches around your life, not the other way around. Once the non-negotiables are in, layer in your live trainings, weekly content, and promotions. Check for clashes with long weekends, Easter, Thanksgiving, or major holidays—because launching when your audience is offline will hurt conversions. Finally, look at seasonal opportunities and annual themes (like Black Friday, International Women's Day, or niche-specific awareness months) and plan ahead. When everything is mapped out, transfer it into your digital calendar so you're creating content in advance instead of reacting at the last minute. Bottom line: A clear calendar turns you from reactive to strategic—and makes your marketing more consistent, profitable, and sustainable. ✨ Stay Connected & Get Exclusive Access: Join the Private OmniSAM Community: omnisam.com.au/gsdgroup Facebook Group: gsdfb.omnisam.com.au Follow on Facebook: facebook.com/sallysparkscousins Watch the Live Stream & Subscribe for More Updates: OmniSAM YouTube: youtube.com/@omnisamsoftware Sally Sparks-Cousins YouTube: youtube.com/@sallysparkscousins
Award-winning authors Katie Rich and Heather Sundahl explore 2 controversies: Ordain Women & Equal Rights Amendment in the sometimes turbulent history of Exponent II during the late 20th century and its evolution into the digital age. The discussion centers on the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) and how it marked a “watershed moment” for Mormon feminism. While many LDS women initially supported the ERA, the Church’s stance shifted after Phyllis Schlafly convinced leadership that the amendment was a threat to the family. This led to a massive, coordinated effort where the church deployed 13,000 women to the 1977 International Women's Year meeting in Salt Lake City to vote against nearly every proposal, including protections for victims of rape and childhood education. https://youtu.be/fW6UiSJehCo Don't miss our other conversations about Mormon feminism: https://gospeltangents.com/lds_theology/feminism/ Copyright © 2026 Gospel Tangents All Rights Reserved A central figure in this era was Sonia Johnson, a “firebrand” who founded Mormons for ERA and publicly challenged the church’s covert lobbying efforts. Her excommunication in 1979 was particularly shocking because it was based on her political activism and public reach rather than moral failings. The authors note that the Church often distinguishes between private belief and public dissent; while many shared Sonia’s views, her large platform made her a target for disciplinary action. The conversation also highlights how Exponent II has navigated these tensions by prioritizing “community over ideological purity”. Unlike more direct activist groups like Ordained Women, Exponent II provides a platform for a wide spectrum of voices, from those seeking ordination to those who find power in traditional roles. This is exemplified in their “priesthood issue,” which contrasted the experiences of women who felt marginalized by their inability to give blessings with those who, like Diane Pritchette, believe women already possess inherent spiritual power. The authors conclude by discussing the historical precedent of Mormon women giving blessings by the laying on of hands—a practice that was common until the 1930s and continues in private settings today, despite official discouragement. We highlighted the distinction between direct activist movements and the platform-based approach of Exponent II. While the two share common threads, Exponent 2 remaines a space for diverse perspectives rather than an organization that took an official stance on the ordination of women. The authors describe Ordain Women as a movement focused on direct activism, whereas Exponent II is a feminist platform that hosts a “Mormon continuum” of voices, including those who are active, inactive, ex-Mormon, or never Mormon. Many early profiles for the Ordain Women movement, which utilized a style similar to the “I'm a Mormon” campaign, were actually Exponent II bloggers. Kate Kelly, the founder of Ordain Women, participated in Exponent II retreats. She was featured on a panel that specifically discussed women and the priesthood, showcasing how the organization fostered dialogue on controversial topics without mandating a “universal stance”. A specific quarterly issue of the Exponent 2 magazine was dedicated to the priesthood to explore the topic’s complexity67. This issue highlighted two contrasting viewpoints: ◦ Abby Hansen, a member of Ordain Women, shared the pain of feeling disconnected from spiritual power, specifically the difficulty of needing to seek blessings from “random” home teachers while her husband was away in the military. ◦ A Relief Society president in Boston, recounted an instance where she laid her hands on a woman’s head to give a blessing during a crisis, operating under the belief that women already possess inherent spiritual power and do not need to “agitate” for others to give it to them. The desire for ordination is often linked to the lost history of Mormon women giving blessings. Women historically performed healings by the laying on of hands until the 1930s, as mentioned by Jonathan Stapley and Kristine Wright. The practice still occurs in private, “unauthorized” settings today among both feminists and traditionalists who feel a spiritual confidence to act in moments of crisis. This week Ivy Slater, host of Her Success Story, chats with her guest, Peg Wright. Peg Wright's inspiring journey from the corporate world to launching a nonprofit, the evolution of CGE's trauma-informed approach to supporting homeless pregnant women and adolescents struggling with addiction, and how building a dedicated team has allowed the organization to serve over 600 people each year. In this episode, we discuss: How Peg Wright founded the Center for Great Expectations in 1998 to serve homeless pregnant women and adolescents battling cycles of homelessness, abuse, and addiction, building the organization from the ground up with mentorship and collaboration. What Peg has learned about treating trauma and substance use simultaneously, integrating expert research and evolving best practices into long-term residential and outpatient programs tailored for women's unique needs. When and why Peg expanded services to include supportive housing and holistic care addressing social determinants of health, recognizing that stable housing, infant mental health, and comprehensive support are critical for sustained recovery. Why Peg emphasizes listening and presence as key support for individuals in crisis, encouraging community members to be informed and compassionate allies to those facing hardship. How Peg encourages nonprofit newcomers to follow their passion and start where they are, underscoring that even small contributions, volunteer efforts, or advocacy can create ripple effects in addressing systemic challenges. Peg Wright has served as President and CEO of The Center for Great Expectations since 1998, when she founded The Center to assist homeless, pregnant women and adolescents in "breaking the cycle" of homelessness, abuse and addiction. The program began in a donated house in Somerville, serving twelve women per year. Under Peg's leadership, CGE now provides an uncompromised continuum of care across prevention and treatment of substance use and mental health disorders, for individuals who have experienced trauma, with relationally-based programs including Residential Treatment Centers for women and adolescents and their children; Katy's Place, an on-site child development center; the Roots to Recovery outpatient center in New Brunswick; 28 units of Permanent Supportive Housing; and START, a free one-of-a-kind in-home and telehealth program for pregnant or parenting clients and their infants. The Institute of CGE trains and consults clients and partners in our client-centered, evidence-based approaches. Peg leads a team of 115 full- and part-time employees, countless volunteers, and a dedicated Board of Trustees. Her commitment to providing the most impactful programming has supported an innovative clinical approach, resulting in programs that address underlying traumas and focus on building self-esteem, life skills and the critical relationship between mother and child. Informed by CGE's foundational Trauma C.A.R.E.© model and evidence-based approaches, The Center provides client-centered treatment for the best possible outcomes for both parent and child, including early relational health, to break the cycle of intergenerational trauma, substance use and homelessness. During her first career in sales and sales management of diagnostic imaging equipment, Peg developed the dynamic skills she uses today to partner with the public, private, and academic sectors to bring the highest level of care to the clients of The Center. She is passionate in collaborating with dedicated behavioral health clinicians, specializing in trauma-informed care and early relational health, to advance the individualized, compassionate mental health and substance use treatment CGE provides to marginalized women and men from all counties of New Jersey. On September 23, 2021, Peg received Somerset County Business Partnership's 70th Citizen of the Year Award. In 2018, Peg was recognized for her service to the community, receiving the New Jersey State Governor's Award for Public Service, by the State of New Jersey, the Jefferson Awards Foundation. She was also named Citizen of the Year by the New Jersey Psychology Association, an award given to a non-psychologist who has made significant contributions to the ideals of mental health or social welfare. That same year, Wright was named in the "Top 25 Leading Women Entrepreneurs and Intrapraneurs" by New Jersey monthly magazine, in the categories of Innovation, Community Involvement, and Advocacy for Women. In 2015, Peg was selected as an NJBIZ "Top 50 Women in Business," an affirmation of her outstanding contribution in the nonprofit sector. and was honored to be named a "New Jersey Hero," by the NJ Heroes Foundation. Governor Chris and First Lady Mary Pat Christie and leaders of the Foundation visited The Center for Great Expectations to tour the facilities, meet clients and staff, and deliver Peg's award, along with a foundation grant. In 2025, Peg received a Russ Berrie, Making a Difference Award, honoring NJ changemakers. Peg is asked to share her expertise in the field of behavioral health: She is an affiliate member of Dr. Denise Hien's multidisciplinary team of external research collaborators and addiction education instructors at Rutgers University's Center of Alcohol & Substance Use Studies (CAS), as well as a founding community advisory board member of CAS's new Wellness in Recovery (WinR) Addiction Advocacy Research Program, directed by Dr. Margaret Swarbrick and co-directed by Dr. Hien. Peg is also a founding member of the Addiction and Behavioral Health Alliance, launched in 2018, by Dr. Bob Lynn. Year-round Peg is invited to showcase the work of CGE and share her experience with friends and colleagues throughout New Jersey. Most recently, in January 2022, Peg convened with 60 participants from around the world to share the work of The Institute of CGE at the virtual learning event "Models of Community-Centered Maternal Mental Health and Substance Use Disorder Programs," organized by The Community Health Acceleration Partnership (CHAP). To mark International Women's Day, Peg was asked to keynote a special meeting of The College Woman's Club of Westfield, founded in 1917 "to further the higher education of women and serve the general interests of the community" in the awarding of scholarships.
It's time to reveal the Top 5 episodes of Talking Taiwan in 2025. What's notable about these 5 episodes is that they are among the most popular Talking Taiwan episodes of all time. Related Links: https://talkingtaiwan.com/talking-taiwan-top-5-of-2025-award-winner-end-of-year-review-ep-338/ But before revealing the Top 5 episodes of 2025, let's take look back on 2025, which was a busy year for Talking Taiwan! We hosted the inaugural Talking Taiwan Fundraising Gala at the elegant Eichholtz showroom in New York City in April. It was truly a magical memorable night. In April we were also invited to speak at the North American Taiwanese American Women Association's (NATWA) Annual Conference. For sometime we've been watching what was happening with the Great Recall in Taiwan which ultimately led to 24 legislators being put up for a recall vote on July 26th and another seven on August 23. The world had not seen anything like this happen on a national level in a democracy! And after Felicia interviewed a group of highly dedicated recall campaigners, she learned firsthand about the grassroots mobilization efforts that resulted in over one million signatures being collected in support of the recall vote, and she felt this was a historic moment that Talking Taiwan should be in Taiwan to cover. Thanks to an anonymous donor who offered to pay for our flights back to Taiwan and others who made generous donations we were able to travel back to Taiwan for a week to cover the first recall in vote on July 26th. We left shortly after returning from the Taiwanese American Conference- West Coast (TAC-WC) which was held in the San Francisco Bay Area. It was the first time we were invited to speak at TAC-WC about our work. While we were at the conference, we also set up an on-location podcasting studio where we interviewed several of the conference's speakers. We look forward to releasing those episodes very soon in the New Year. It's been an extremely eventful year for Talking Taiwan with many ups and downs. Spending only a week in Taiwan to cover the Recall Vote in July, and trying to conduct interviews, and edit and produce them in that time period proved to be a bit unrealistic and we'll need to pace ourselves better in the future. It was also crushing to witness the results of the Recall Vote on July 26th with none of the 24 legislators successfully recalled from office. While still recovering from that ordeal in July, we traveled to T.O. Webfest awards in September where Talking Taiwan was nominated in the Best Ensemble Cast category. While we didn't win, it was our second nomination after being shortlisted at the International Women's Podcast Awards in 2024 and winning a Golden Crane Award in 2021. As we go into the 13th year of Talking Taiwan, I'd like take a moment to especially thank everyone who has supported Talking Taiwan over the years and made a contribution to help fund our trip to return to Taiwan to cover the Great Recall in July. We also want to thank each and every one of all of our amazing guests for being a part of the Talking Taiwan podcast. Special thanks to our listeners. Host of the Mind Movement Health podcast, Kate Boyle interviews Jenn Trepeck about her new book, Uncomplicating Wellness, which offers a science-based, practical approach to cut through conflicting wellness advice and help people trust their bodies again. They discuss the six pillars of health: nutrition, movement, hydration, sleep, stress, and connection, how genetics and epigenetics influence outcomes, the role and controversies around GLP‑1 medications, and the importance of small, consistent habits for long-term well-being. The episode delivers actionable tips and guidance on choosing sustainable strategies that fit individual goals and life, plus where to find Jenn's podcast and book. Connect with Jenn Trepeck: Jenn Trepeck has been described as a "force of nature" in the wellness space. Recognition includes Podcast Magazine's 40 under 40, and nominations for the 2022 International Women's Podcast Award (Visionary Leadership) and 2 Ear Worthy2025 award categories. Jenn has won Ear Worthy's 2024 & 2025 Best Health Podcast and 2024 Best Independent Podcast awards and Women Who Podcast's Stellar Interview 2025. She is an Optimal Health Coach, Podcaster, and Business Consultant. Jenn grew up the skinny one in a family of dieters which was awesome(!) until it went away. And so began her weight management saga. Ultimately though, Jenn learned the nutrition education we're all supposed to know but no one ever taught us. This completely changed her life and allowed her to say she “kicked her food issues.” From then, Jenn set-out on a mission to pay it forward and help people help themselves. After over a decade of working with clients, Jenn started Salad with a Side of Fries podcast. Based on science, yet lighthearted, Jenn talks about living life while still making ourselves and our health a priority. Jenn's debut book, Uncomplicating Wellness, releases on October 29th, offering a science-based yet practical approach to cut through the noise of the wellness industry and help readers finally trust their bodies again.
