Have you seen Orange County Choppers? You know - the famous motorcycle reality show that follows the Teutul family around as they build and refurbish chopper-style bikes? What do you think the chair budget was on that show? Because from what we remember, the cameramen spent more time dodging furniture than covering refurbs. And sometimes, running a family business can be a lot like that. With emotions running high and the already tense relationship dynamic, running a business with members of your own family can feel like a daily fight of words, and sometimes, fists. But it doesn't have to be. Communicating effectively in a family operated business takes somewhat of a white glove approach - carefully voicing opinions and nudging the business into innovation to keep up with the times. This week, we have Cody Widmann on the show, part owner of Denny's Corvette Restos along with his brother and father. Cody has been in operation with his family business for his entire adult life, and he comes on to get some help on how to approach the hard subjects with family. Let's Talk About It. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/businesstherapypodcast/message

Jason Pohl calls himself a "pretengineer" because he's self-taught. Trained as artist, his design work has taken him from creating video games to actually designing and fabricating parts for Orange County Choppers. Jason moved into CAD design and working with CNC machines. He has boundless energy and enthusiasm as someone who is doing what he always wanted to do -- make things that are real. And it just might have been a high school art teacher who pointed him in the direction he would follow. She told him that all the things around him have been designed by someone and he could be that person.

Welcome to the Fearless Innovator Podcast, my name is Mechiel Kopaska, and I am your host. Today I am stepping wayyyyy outside my comfort zone and doing something that is completely fearless. I promise this episode will be super short, but I need your help at the end! I'm putting myself way out there so much it makes my heartbeat really, fast!! You already know that biking is a big passion of mine. You know I've been riding since I was 9 years old, my dad bought me my first bike so I could chase the cows, I lead a group of bikers on what I call the Mystery Ride, I've been to Sturgis 4 times and Laconia, and I've ridden Route 66 and most recently visited 7 of the 97 Iowa Freedom Rocks – so there's no doubt you know I ride. I'm sure you've all heard about the Orange County Choppers or the OCC show on TV, right? Where they build custom bikes and the dad Paul Teutul, and his son Paul Jr are always disagreeing on how to build a bike? Well, they've recently just built a new facility in St. Petersburg called the O.C.C. Roadhouse & Museum – basically is a bikers dream location for meeting up with friends to enjoy food, concerts and the museum. I just got word that the OCC is hosting their 2nd Annual Dream Chopper contest! I did a little research and discovered that last year's winner was Joe Rasulo a US Army Veteran, and he built a bike to commemorate his time in the service. How cool is that??? He got to appear on one of their episodes with the OCC crew and was featured on the cover of the Cycle Source Magazine. This got me to thinking… Hey, I can do this! So, I've entered myself into the competition and currently I'm in 6th place in my group. I have no idea how many groups there are, but my eye is on the number 1 spot above all groups. I intend to be the 1st Female to win this Custom Chopper! I already know what it's going to look like…it will have loads of bling and crosses! I also intend on inviting all my friends over to the OCC in St Petersburg, where I will host another Mystery Ride! Go to Fearlessinnovator.com/mychopper to vote for me! There are 2 ways to vote – vote daily for the free votes or use the Rescue votes to donate to the Hudson Valley SPCA – a foundation Paul Teutul SR is fond of every dollar donated is one vote – however, keep checking back because sometimes they offer a 2 for 1 deal – When you Pay $500 towards the Hudson Valley SPCA and it counts as 1000 votes I will see you at the OCC when I win my custom chopper! #makingdreamsreality Thank you for listening, I hope you were inspired, entertained or you learned something new! Side note – I have found an RV park and I'm diving in! Stay tuned! Catch me later…
Why does it take long years for some people to decide what they want to do in life while others know right away? In rare cases, some possess a strong vision compelled by the thought that they cannot be kept in a small confined box for the rest of their lives. In this week's episode of Someone Gets Me, let's hear the story from visionary Paul Teutul Sr., the star of the long-running hit TV reality series American Chopper and co-founder of Orange County Choppers -- globally famous manufacturer of customized motorcycles. Key points we've covered: ✨ Paul Sr. always knew that he'd be an entrepreneur. After getting out of high school, He went to work for his brother-in-law, who had a steel shop, when he decided that he didn't want to work for anybody. ✨ He was amazed that putting a piece of steel set together with much time and effort can become an entire building and how a frame built bit by piece can become a motorcycle. These two are what made his fame and fortune in life. ✨ Sr.'s colorful life saw tough challenges and struggles in family and business. For him, giving up is never an option. "If you're going after it, go after it. And even if there's a setback, derailment, or a time thing or something, that doesn't mean that you let go of it. It just means you reorient how you're going to get there." ✨ With an estimated net worth of $15 Million, there's much to learn from Sr.'s larger-than-life personality and decades of highs and lows in his personal and entrepreneurial journey. ✨ "I'm just a regular blue-collar guy Doing my steel business building bikes. I never would think that I'm ever going to be on TV. Do I change my clothes? Do I lose weight? I'm getting all that stuff going through my mind. And then, at the last minute, I said, you know, I'm just going to be who I am. And I think that was probably the success of the show." — Paul Teutul Sr. Connect with Paul Sr. OCC on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/orangecountychoppers/ OCC on Instagram: https://instagram.com/orangecountychoppers OCC on Twitter: https://twitter.com/occhoppers _______________________________________________________________________ Connect with Dianne A. CLICK HERE FOR THE OFFICIAL LAW ABIDING BIKER WEBISTE PODCAST-On this episode we talk about many things, but start out by discussing the new Orange County Choppers (OCC) series that is coming to Country Music Television (CMT) on Saturday November 16, 2013 9/8c. This is a show that is strictly about OCC and Paul Jr., of Paul Jr. Designs, will not be part of the series. Paul Sr. brings in a new "Creative Director" named Evan Favaro, who owns his own shop called "Speakeasy Motors". Second, we talk about the new independent film "Why we Ride". This is a movie about all motorcycles such as street cruisers, sports bikes, and dirt bikes. The trailer is awesome and I can't wait to watch this film. Here are some frequently asked questions about the film that are listed on the film's website: Q: When is this documentary coming out? A: We are in talks with theaters for a limited release starting in November. Q: When is the DVD being released A: The DVD will be available later this year, along with Blu-ray, digital streaming and download. Q: Who is financing or sponsoring this film? A: The film is independently financed and no sponsorships were allowed by any group or company in the motorcycle industry during its production. This was to ensure the creative integrity of the documentary and that there would be no favoritism giving to any one group. Last, we discuss "those who have been down & those who are going down". Of course we are referring to anyone who rides a motorcycles for long distances and over a long period of years. Or, it could happen your first day. It is just a simple truth and we all know it. As bikers/motorcyclists, we do our best to be defensive, but there are so many hazards out there; cars, animals, moisture, weather, gravel etc. Many of the members in our club, the Sworn Few MC, have been down before, so we know the truths. The club rides long distances and across country and we become very comfortable on our motorcycles. If you ever get to do any real hardcore motorcycle training (real police type) you will go down on the course and that is a fact. But, by doing so, you improve your skills and know what to do. #LawAbidingBiker #BikerPodcast #MotorcyclePodcast _______________________________________________________ CHECK US OUT AND SUBSCRIBE: Website: http://www.LawAbidingBiker.com Email & Voicemail: http://www.LawAbidingBiker.com/Contact Phone Hotline: 509-731-3548 Twitter: https://twitter.com/LawAbidingBiker Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/lawabidingbiker RSS: feed://www.LawAbidingBiker.com/feed iTunes Direct Link to Podcast: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/law-abiding-biker-podcast/id622424087 Stitcher Radio: http://www.stitcher.com/podcast/law-abiding-biker-podcast TuneIn Radio: http://tunein.com/radio/Law-Abiding-Biker-p562288/
