As we come into the final lap of PODRACE MONTH here at Blast Points, we're taking the time to examine something that has confused us for decades, the many versions of the podrace. In 1999, the podrace dazzled fans when The Phantom Menace arrived in theaters but there were some who said it was too long. So when the DVD arrived in 2001, what did George Lucas do? He made it even longer. And there were deleted scenes on the disc that were even longer still! And then it changed for the blu ray and then it changed again for the 3D release, Listen as we go over as many changes as we can and wonder how we'll survive this year's big rerelease! So yell some nonsense for Jabba, celebrate the love and listen today! watch every version of the podrace all at once here: https://youtu.be/2KHGflJyfaM watch the original theatrical version here : https://youtu.be/2KHGflJyfaM JOIN THE BLAST POINTS ARMY and SUPPORT BLAST POINTS ON PATREON! We're kicking off a month long series of episodes all about the Boonta Eve Classic aka The Podrace and what better way to kick things off then talking about the incredible sound of the podrace! JW Rinzler's Sounds of Star Wars book calls the podrace Ben Burtt's greatest achievement in sound and we couldn't agree more. We debut a new segment called "Did You See That?!" where we revisit a classic Star Wars scene and talk about things we had never noticed before, and to kick it off, we're going with the podrace scene from The Phantom Menace! That and more Star Wars talk, including speculating on the future for Star Wars Rebels voice actors. The Resistance base is open to all, so please spread the word about our Star Wars podcast and join us! We did it. Five centuries of some of the worst podcasts anyone has ever produced. JD doesn't think it's that big a deal but Jackson wanted to celebrate the only way he know how: by watching the Phantom Menace (for maybe the first time) on a bus on his way to work. Now two little slave boys, one human and one foal, have big dreams in their little boy hearts of winning the biggest podrace this side of the Rim. It's the eve of Boonta and Joel and Horse Joel must do their best to get out from under the oppressive ownership of a sick rock, convince the galaxies best known fry cook to sponsor them and acquire a podracer of their own by any means necessary. It's the racing event of the season as rumour has it one team has an unlikely power source that may result in the best day podracing has ever seen.Buy our terrible merch here and check out the Bad Brain Boys on Apple Podcasts at apple.co/badbrainboys. Are you feeling the burn of fandom fatigue? Fear not, because this episode has got you covered! We're joined by the incredibly insightful podcaster (from queer Star Wars podcast, RuPalp's Podrace) and cultural critic Klaudia Amenábar, who's ready to help us navigate the world of passionate fandoms and the challenges of finding quality content. Together, we'll explore the art of storytelling, the issue of recycled content, and the potential for audience fatigue.Get ready for a hilarious segment where we debate the "worst" fandoms between Star Trek and Star Wars, and dive into the complexities of fandom discourse. We'll also discuss our experiences with social media, fandom spaces, and how they've shaped our relationships and careers. Plus, Klaudia makes a case for how the best content is just usually from the same franchise.Don't miss out on this intriguing discussion on fandoms where we ask the age-old question: when is too much of a good thing bad? Laugh along with us and Klaudia as we try to find out. Also, shout out to illustrator Elana Delaney for our rad new cover art that she made for season three. Why yes, we are giving a nod to The Simple Life.Don't forget to tune in on Sunday, June 25th, for our next mini-episode.~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~Show Notes and References! CLICK TO SUBSCRIBE ON YOUR FAVORITE PODCATCHER CONTENT WARNING: Discussion of racism, brownface, abuse, knives, injury, dance injuries. Klaudia Amenábar of RuPalp's Podrace and Mystery Spotcast joins us this week to discuss one of the most iconic films of all time. It's a 10-time Oscar winner with a soundtrack that might have outsold the Beatles and has spurned hundreds of performances in revivals and in high school theaters across America. Unfortunately, it's also kind of a hot mess, especially because our directing is so disjointed that it makes two fairly good actors turn their compelling romantic leads into utter cardboard cutouts. In fact, any time where we're not dancing with breathtaking choreography we might as well be watching paint dry. It's up to our queen Rita Moreno and our king Leonard Bernstein to pull us through, and do they ever. Get ready for a rumble as we discuss 1961's West Side Story this week on Macintosh & Maud Haven't Seen What?! You can email us with feedback at macintoshandmaud@gmail.com, or you can connect with us on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook. Also please subscribe, rate and review the show on your favorite podcatcher, and tell your friends. Intro and outro music taken from the Second Movement of Ludwig von Beethoven's 9th Symphony. Happy Pride! Here at RuPalp's Podrace, we talk a lot about the problems facing the LGBTQ community. As five queer people with platforms, we believe it is incredibly important to bring awareness to issues facing our community. In honor of Pride Month, we have decided to support a different LGBTQ-oriented cause every week during the month of June. This week, we will be supporting the LGBTQ Freedom Fund. This organization secures bail for LGBTQ people who are in immigration detention or awaiting trial. They also work on programs to educate and create policy addressing LGBTQ overincarceration, and the harm that comes with it. Welcome to another Episode of Pat and the Fat Man. We made it all the way to 10 podcasts can you believe it! Wooooooo! Woo! Wo! Anyways, Pat and Bruce talk through the exciting conclusion to this flaming pile of amazing. How good are Yoda's light saber skills, what all can you do with the Force, wouldn't it have been hilarious if Jango's head had fallen out of his helmet when Boba picked it up, will Padme do the right thing? These things, potentially, and more on the tenth episode of Pat and the Fat Man.
Join Pat and Bruce as we split the part into ultra awkward teen drama fest and super cool Jedi Noir stories. What are Anakin's views on government and sweet sweet love, why is Padme all up in his grill about security, does Obiwan just know everyone in the galaxy, and what the hell does "south" mean when your figuring out directions in freaking space? Pat and Bruce converse about all these things and more in this episode of Pat and the Fat Man.
Join Pat and Bruce as they begin their slow journey through Star Wars Episode 2 Attack of the Clones. How much has Anakin really grown up, how important is your lightsaber, how many limbs has Obiwan chopped off over the course of his career, how awkward can George Lucas force people to act? Shockingly most of these things do get spoken about in another installment of Pat and the Fat Man.
Pat and Bruce continue to discuss George Lucas's most for children children's movie evar, Star Wars The Phantom Menace. As we move from Naboo to Tatooine and Coruscant and dive deeper into the first of the prequels. Does Jar-Jar continue to be annoying, are we still shocked by the big reveal concerning Padme, how creepy is the scene between her and Anakin on the star ship, and how cool is the fight scene with Darth Maul? Some, potentially even all, of these things talked about by Pat and the Fat Man.

The new STAR WARS attractions have opened up at Disneyland and DisneyWorld, and BB$’s own BIG MIKE and JAKE THE SNAKE had the pleasure of checking it out recently in Anaheim. BUT, this is a PODCAST not a PODRACE, so the hosts jump right into the content! No one wants to hear about losing, but when you are ONE PICK away from turning $15 into $280 how can you NOT COMPLAIN for at least a few minutes, OKLAHOMA?? *COUGH COUGH*. LSU takes its rightful spot as #1 on the AP TOP 25 POLL after handling Alabama, and Penn State takes a tumble giving CLEMSON the #3 spot once again. The hosts recap last week’s picks in both college and NFL football, with some BIG college WINS (OSU, LSU, and Georgia) and some sad college L’s (OK-LA-FREAKIN-HOMA). The boys go 50% on NCAAF and SUCK on NFL picks over the weekend. Correct winners, but missed spreads, oh the AGONY. There were some really bad beats in the NFL as the G-men take over NEW YORK, Derrick Henry does what he does, the Saints get SHOCKED, and the BROWNS SMEAR the BILLS. Then, the hosts get into their projected picks for this week. IS IT TIME FOR REDEMPTION? BIG WINS ON DECK THIS WEEK? Who do we take in the NCAA and NFL you ask? You’ll have to listen (or visit our website) to find out! Dive in and give our podcast a listen. We want to help you win BIG!

Crooked Table Podcast - The world of film from a fresh angle
On the tail of the film's 20th anniversary, Kimberly Cook — social media editor and writer for Monkeys Fighting Robots and Pop Axiom, respectively — hyperspaces onto the show to discuss Star Wars: Episode I — The Phantom Menace. Thanks in large part to young Jake Lloyd and a certain bumbling Gungan, the film remains one of the most divisive entries in the saga. We discuss the film in depth, marking the beginning of our epic journey back into a "galaxy far, far away." Every month for the rest of 2019, we'll be discussing the next episode of the Star Wars saga, building up to the release of Star Wars: Episode IX — The Rise of Skywalker in December. Check back next month as Pete Langhelt joins us to talk Star Wars: Episode II — Attack of the Clones. Star Wars: Episode I — The Phantom Menace synopsis, courtesy of StarWars.com: Stranded on the desert planet Tatooine after rescuing young Queen Amidala (Natalie Portman) from the impending invasion of Naboo, Jedi apprentice Obi-Wan Kenobi (Ewan McGregor) and his Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn (Liam Neeson) discover nine-year-old Anakin Skywalker (Jake Lloyd), a young slave unusually strong in the Force. Anakin wins a thrilling Podrace and with it his freedom as he leaves his home to be trained as a Jedi. The heroes return to Naboo where Anakin and the Queen face massive invasion forces while the two Jedi contend with a deadly foe named Darth Maul (Ray Park). Only then do they realize the invasion is merely the first step in a sinister scheme by the re-emergent forces of darkness known as the Sith. Greg Proops, who played Fode, one of the two heads of the Podrace announcer in The Phantom Menace, is on the show today. LIVE from the green room of the Addison Improv, he tells an incredible, hilarious story about his time in the Star Wars universe, from being cast to doing voiceover work in The Clone Wars. (There is also an anecdote that will change the way you look at Harrison Ford in Last Crusade forever.) Hopefully, you get a kick out of it as much as we did! It's just a lot of fun. Be sure to listen to his incredible podcast, The Smartest Man in the World on iTunes and check out GregProops.com for upcoming show dates (including stops in Toronto, Oregon and Washington). His act is really a blast. Emma and Jacob talk about this prologue chapter’s penchant for explaining interesting ideas in the most boring manner possible, its racism, its politics, and their surprisingly positive reaction. It’s an episode filled with half-hearted defenses and back-handed compliments. The Podrace is still good though.
