XRP's price has been pumping over the past week on news of the Ripple summary judgment. Poly Network will integrate with the XRP Ledger, an open source, public and decentralized Layer1 blockchain. Bitcoin mining data center firm 'Compute North' has filed for bankruptcy.
As reported by CryptoSlate last week, a hacker ran off with about $615 million in ether (Ethereum) and stablecoins after exploiting a multisig contract regulating funds in the Ronin-to-Ethereum bridge – Ronin being the blockchain behind Axie Infinity, the most popular play-to-earn game in the world. Now, the funds stolen by the yet undisclosed hacker are being redistributed among various wallets and solutions to hide the tracks and withdraw digital assets into fiat, as reported by WuBlockchain. Multiple wallets involved in a swirl of transactions According to a tweet by Wu Blockchain, the hackers have transferred 1,001 ETH, almost $3.5 million, to another Ethereum wallet that has no marks or tags whatsoever, but there seem to be multiple wallets involved in a swirl of transactions aimed at confusing analysts. The address of the hacker who stole $610 million in the Ronin_Network case began to move, transferring 1000 ETH to another address and then 200 ETH to TornadoCash. Wu Blockchain (@WuBlockchain) April 4, 2022 At press time, the hacker also moved 2000 ETH (about $7 million) to Tornado Cash, a coin mixing solution on Ethereum, obviously in an attempt to hide the movements of the stolen funds. As pointed out by several experts in regards to the now largely dismissed issue of sanctions evasion by the Russian government and oligarchs, the liquidity in the Tornado Cash tumbler is limited, and the question is whether this hacker is able to use the tumbler to clean all of the loot or just fractions of it. The hacker managed to steal about 173,600 Ethereum and 25.5 million USDC, thus even 3000 ETH is a relatively small amount compared to the total amount stolen. Exchanges won't touch the loot The only realistic way the hacker can withdraw such a large amount of ether to fiat would be through centralized exchanges with sufficient liquidity. However, the Ethereum addresses used by the hacker are being recorded on a black list as the hacker moves the funds around, and no serious exchange will touch them. If the funds are moved to an exchange, they will in all likelihood be seized. Considering the current dollar worth of lost assets, the Ronin hack may very well become the biggest hack in decentralized finance's (DeFi) history, as CryptoSlate previously reported. While crypto exchange Mt. Gox famously lost around 850,000 Bitcoin in 2014 – which would currently be worth $40.2 billion – that figure was much smaller at the time since Bitcoin was trading at a fraction of its price today. The second-biggest hack of approximately $600 million stolen from Poly Network was blocked by the crypto community, as almost every project in the space agreed to block any inflows from the blacklisted wallet. The Poly Network hacker soon turned back most of the loot and was subsequently offered a job at Poly Network.
The recent $320 million Ethereum-Solana cross-chain hack – the second-biggest exploit ever, behind the $600 million Poly Network theft – is only the beginning, according to Corby Pryor, venture partner at HOF Capital. A former academic who studied quantum physics and designed neural networks, Pryor went all in after dabbling in crypto investing in 2017. A talented computer scientist, Pryor has identified a key vulnerability in the DeFi ecosystem, particularly in cross-chain interoperability. He discusses potential solutions, his unique perspective on venture capital based on his experience in physics, and a fascinating concept he calls “decentralized time” with Real Vision's Ash Bennington. There are now thousands of crypto coins, and many of these have a promising future within the market. In 2022, we may be seeing certain coins continue to rise, or even reach their all-time price high. So, which coins should you be looking out for in 2022, and why?https://www.laptopmag.com/features/dont-use-your-number-for-2fa-on-cryptoDon't use your number for 2FA on crypto accounts — here's whyUltra-tight account security in the cryptocurrency world is a must. Not only are your digital assets at risk, but crypto exchanges are notorious for offering lousy customer support. If your account gets hacked and a malicious actor drains your funds, good luck finding a live agent! Even Coinbase, one of the world's most popular crypto exchanges, is known for being as helpful as a chocolate teapot when it comes to recovering compromised accounts. As such, crypto investors should be gung-ho about implementing preventative security measures because the crypto realm isn't as forgiving as the fiat world when it comes to lost assets. Two-factor authentication (2FA) is a highly recommended way to add an extra layer of security to your account, but there's a caveat — using your number could put your assets in grave danger. Today we're talking with Rene Reinsberg, the co-founder of Celo. Rene describes Celo as a global payment's infrastructure. Before starting Celo, Rene was working on helping small businesses to better market themselves and compete with the bigger companies. He says he had a real passion for developing tools for the underdogs. He was excited to learn about bitcoin and how it could change access to financial services. All of this led Rene to start Celo so that he could help to create conditions for prosperity for everyone. Rene realized that in most parts of the world, it was difficult to make a payment system on a mobile phone. In other parts of the world, people often still resort to sending checks in the mail, which comes with a lot of risk. Rene knew they had the ability to build a better infrastructure for delivering payments. Celo started off building a prototype on Ethereum. He found it was hard to explain high gas fees when trying to make payments to the average user, and so they dug deeper to solve this problem. Celo is a proof of stake network that has been carbon negative since their launch. Celo is decentralized and run by independent validators all around the world. They also support all Ethereum applications. On Celo you can simply send funds to a phone number if it is associated with the network, and it shows up in your digital wallet in about 5 seconds. Celo really aims to make cryptocurrency easier to use and access. As far as adoption goes, Rene is excited to see the ecosystem that's forming around the core protocol. He says that today they have over 1000 developers and projects building on Celo. Rene is excited to see people leveraging this technology for real-world use cases. He does think we're still in the very early days of DeFi being used in the real world. One thing they're focused on is security as hacks are somewhat common in the DeFi world with a recent $611million hack on the PolyNetwork. If you are interested in learning more about Celo you can find them at celo.org. They're also very active on Discord, which can be accessed via chat.celo.org. -- Divi is creating the world's first closed-loop, vertically-integrated cryptocurrency ecosystem. Much like Apple's ecosystem is anchored by iCloud, the Divi Project blockchain serves as the core of the Divi network of technologies. Thanks to a keen understanding of the divide that separates the mainstream from the crypto world, the Divi team is able to create solutions to the industry's biggest problem: adoption by non-technical users. Divi's user-friendly, one-click solutions aim to bring blockchain-based payments into modernity with great UX. In this podcast, we will cover all aspects of cryptocurrency, hot topics, and technology as worldwide adoption grows.

Then we discuss the Poly Network hack, the potential future value of Bitcoin, and whether it's a good idea to take on debt to buy more Bitcoin. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/idratherberight/message
