When the New York Knicks snapped their 53-year championship drought this past weekend, it showed how long the fan base had been suffering before finally being able to celebrate a title. However, there are quite a few teams in baseball that can commiserate with what Knicks fans have been going through and hope to one day bring a championship back home. On this episode of Baseball Bar-B-Cast, Jake Mintz and Jordan Shusterman take a look at the current title-less droughts in MLB, led by the Cleveland Guardians, who haven't won since 1948, and the Milwaukee Brewers and San Diego Padres, neither of whom has yet to win a World Series since their debuts in 1969. Along with the Seattle Mariners, Pittsburgh Pirates, New York Mets and others, which team will be next to break its drought? Later, Jake and Jordan discuss two standout pitching performances from this weekend: Jacob Misiorowski, who threw a Maddux for the Brewers, and Yoshinobu Yamamoto, who flirted with perfection en route to a Los Angeles Dodgers victory. They then recap Tarik Skubal's return to the mound, the Tartan Army taking over Fenway Park during the Boston Red Sox–Texas Rangers game and offer thoughts on players giving mixed messages regarding the annual San Francisco Giants Pride Night. 1:59 – The Opener: Next title drought to end 37:11 – Around The League: The Miz throws a Maddux 47:00 – Yamamoto flirts with perfection 56:22 – Skubal returns to the Tigers 1:04:52 – Turbo Mode: Tartan Army invades 1:10:01 – Giants Pride Night kerfuffle 1:14:57 – Recap of weekend action Subscribe to Baseball Bar-B-Cast on your favorite podcast app:

The World Cup starts today and we are ready! Last night's game 4 was an all-timer and it all boiled down to a collapse by the Spurs. Can they recover? :30- ABC's of the Mariners- The M's fell to the O's 7-2 last night and while they went into the game wanting to win, once George got into trouble, they went into “preserve the bullpen” mode. - R is for Restructure- what happens to this infield when Brendan Donovan comes back? - S is for Sub-Optimal- Matt Brash is injured again and this time it's a lat… so how long will we be without him this time? - T is for Tacoma- Cal Raleigh is playing in Tacoma again tonight. :45- How good can Tory Horton be and can he stay healthy enough to get there? It's World Cup Day and Seattle is showing out! A lot of times people use the term “choke job” far too often, but the Spurs game 4 collapse last night was absolutely a choke job. Yes, the Knicks deserve some credit, but more of the blame needs to be pointed in San Antonio's direction. Can they possibly come back after that? It's doubtful. :30- Mariners Morning After George Kirby started off great and the game was scoreless into the 6th and then it all fell apart, resulting in a 7-2 loss for the Mariners. The M's seemed determined not to waste any bullpen arms and let Kirby go 6 before bringing in Gonzalez who had just been called up and letting him finish up. :45- It's World Cup Day and while Seattle doesn't have any games in town today, the city is gearing up for the first game on Monday and there's watch parties all around town. DICK FAIN joins us for the Seahawks One Series as we discuss what we expect from Tory Horton in 2026. We saw flashes, but we didn't get to see a lot from Horton in 2025 due to injury. How will he fit into the offense this season and what's the ceiling for the young wide receiver? :30- It's time for the baseball Brunch starring Mitch Garver and the travel woes of Nick Davila. What did we learn today kids? New Garv is better than Old Garv, defense can help you win and technology can be our friend! :45- Game 4 of the NBA Finals is tonight in New York. BRAD EVANS (Seattle Sounders/World Cup Analyst) We are on World Cup Eve! What does it mean to Brad to not only be a part of the World Cup broadcasts, but to have it happening right here in Seattle. The US needs to take a step forward- why hasn't it happened and what needs to happen to make the shift? What does Brad expect from them on Friday? Can they make a run? Just when we thought we'd seen the craziest Mariners win on Monday, Tuesday came along and said “hold my beer.” Last night was a game of inches and the Mariners came away on the winning end in extra innings and even with a depleted bullpen. :30- Mariners Morning After Randy Arozarena hit the game-winning home run in the 10th, but there were a lot of close plays a long the way that really tell the tale of this game. :45- Robert Turbin joined the show for the Seahawks One Series yesterday and we got his thoughts on what this team will miss the most by not having Zach Charbonnet on the field for the first half of the season. Do You Know How the West Was Won?: The Al West remains...well a kind of fascinating we guess.2. Hotlanta: Let's give the Braves (and Bryce Elder) their flowers.3. Around the Horn: A lot of demotions, one call up and the usual injuries. 4. What to Watch: Craig doesn't pick the Dodgers, does pick the Jays, but someone has to pick the Dodgers5. What happened to actual analysis? The Spurs took Game 3 in New York last night and the “experts” chalked it up to the Knicks playing terribly and the Spurs playing great in the 4-point win… The Knicks have been nearly unstoppable, but the Spurs are the more talented team, so no one should be surprised that they pulled off the road win. :30- Mariners Morning After The Mariners got the 6-3 win and the game shall only be referred to as “The Challenge” from here on out. :45- The Brendan Sorsby injunction yesterday has a lot of people convinced that college football is doomed. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Headlines and the Pen is mightier WITH the sword. There are so many rules in place for this Mariners pitching staff. From piggybacking, to the 6-man rotation, the starters get their own set of rules, so how do those matchup with the extensive set of rules in place for the bullpen and why is it so hard to find 27 outs day in and day out? Something's got to give if we want Dan Wilson to be able to navigate the whole thing. :30- Yesterday we talked to Jacson Bevens on the One Series and got into the Rams addition of Myles Garrett and possibly Aaron Donald. How confident does Jacson feel about this O-Line's ability to hold up against this improved Rams defense? :45- ABC's of the Mariners - M is for Munoz- maybe he doesn't need to be locked into the closer role. - N is for Nana- apparently Emerson Hancock has a little Nana in him… See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Seahawks One Series with ROBERT TURBIN (Sirius XM) Does Zach Charbonnet have what it takes to be the number one running back in this Seahawks offense? Is the timeline for Charbonnet's return too aggressive? When Charbs returns, will Jadarian Price step right into the Walker role and will the two of them give us what we saw last year? Can Emmanuel Wilson step up and fill the Zach Charbonnet role until Charbonnet comes back? Who does Turbo think will step up and snag some carries this season? What will this offense miss the most with Charbonnet out for a chunk of the season? :30- It's time for the Baseball Brunch starring Josh Naylor and Emerson Hancock. What a game yesterday! Let's just say, it was a LOT closer than the score indicated. :45- Sup with You? It's happening a little earlier in the week than usual, but let's face it, we need your help! RYON HEALY (Mariners TV) It's all about “The Challenge”- thank you ABS System and thank you Jhonny Pereda! How does Healy feel about Dan Wilson's bullpen usage and all of the rules this team seems to have to abide by? Emerson got into it with Pereda on the mound… We are suddenly down two more infielders… what happens when Brendan Donovan comes back? :30- We asked for your help and YOU delivered! Sup with you? Seahawks One Series with JACSON BEVENS (Cigar Thoughts) Today it's all about Grey Zabel. What we saw from Zabel last season was very impressive, what is the ceiling for the 2nd year lineman? This is the first offseason in a long time that we aren't spending the offseason complaining about out O-Line, but what's the health of this group and do they still need help? He's got it… so what does “it” mean? We wrap up with some cigar thoughts… :30- Baseball Brunch starring Luis Castillo and Dan Wilson. Headlines and What's Up with Muni? By his own admission, Andres Munoz needs to pitch more and the numbers back that up… he doesn't do well when he has had too much rest, so WHY do we continue to only put him in in save situations?? Chuck has the numbers… :30- The NBA Finals return to New York tonight as the Knicks look to go up 3-0 on the Spurs. Have the Knicks solved the Wemby issue or can the Spurs get right tonight? :45- The Mariners are in Baltimore for 4 games starting tonight and this isn't the same struggling Orioles team. They've had a rough start to their season, but the O's are hitting now and averaging 6 runs per game; so who will prevail? Their offense or our pitching staff? See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Who is to blame for the Mariners walk-off loss to the tigers on Sunday? There was some questionable bullpen usage, including putting Criswell in when Bazardo was ready AND not utilizing Munoz enough, so that he had to come in after not pitching for 5 days. What more do they need? The numbers have to show Muni doesn't do well with a lot of days off between outings and Andres himself has said he needs to pitch more! What about not only using him in save situations? What about not only using him as a closer? :30- Mariners Morning After This wasn't just on the bullpen, but they did play a big part in it. The M's went up 4-0 and then things got sloppy. :45- What does Chuck think about Russell Wilson's retirement? Is he Hall of Fame worthy? Will there be a time where he will be welcomed back and celebrated here in town? See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Plausibly Live! - The Official Podcast of The Dave Bowman Show
Why are you a fan of the teams you love?It sounds like a simple question, but the answer may reveal more about America than sports. For generations, loyalty to a team was rooted in geography. You cheered for the local club because it represented your city, your neighborhood, and your community. The Dodgers belonged to Brooklyn. The Broncos belonged to Denver. The Mariners belonged to Seattle. But does that still hold true in the twenty-first century? In this episode of Plausibly Live, Dave Bowman explores the changing nature of sports fandom in an era of fantasy leagues, social media, corporate ownership, and constant mobility. Why do we support the teams we support? Is it where we live, where we grew up, the players we admire, or simply the stories that captured our imagination as children?Along the way, Dave dives into the growing controversy over taxpayer-funded stadiums, the ongoing battles involving franchises seeking new facilities, and whether fans should continue subsidizing billionaire owners. He also examines the fascinating ownership models used in Japanese baseball and Korean professional sports, asking whether America could ever adopt a similar approach. From the Brooklyn Dodgers and Ebbets Field to the Denver Broncos, Philadelphia Flyers, and Seattle Mariners, this is a conversation about sports, identity, community, and what happens when the connection between a team and a place begins to fade.It is a thought-provoking look at sports history, stadium politics, Major League Baseball, and the future of fandom itself.

Jerry returns with the sounds of Jalen Brunson hitting a big bucket late. Mike Brown liked the pace they played down the stretch. A moron fan ran on the floor to take a selfie with Wemby and he was asked about it after the game. The Yankees lost to the Guardians as Gerrit Cole did not pitch great and talked about it after the game. The Mets beat the Mariners as they pulled off a double steal.
Jerry starts with the sounds of Brunson ‘from downtown' to put them up 97-95. We heard from Mike Brown on Brunson getting beat up early but hanging tough. Brunson talked about the team being resilient. We heard the sounds of the Yankees losing to the Guardians as Gerrit Cole did not pitch great. There is no timetable for Aaron Judge's return. Episode 427: Welcome to a midweek edition of Baseball Is Dead. Jared, Dallas, Jay Hay, and Tyler react to the Seattle Mariners' eight-game winning streak that has vaulted them into first place in the AL West. Julio Rodríguez's recent power surge has the guys debating what type of hitter they'd rather build around: a pure power bat like Julio or a more balanced offensive profile like Vladimir Guerrero Jr. or Fernando Tatis Jr., who have traded some power for more contact this season. Gage Jump's second big-league start continues to impress and has Dallas dreaming about the wave of young arms that could be joining the Athletics in the near future. Kyle Harrison's dominance against his former club leaves Jared and Tyler wondering what changes have fueled his recent success. To close out the show, the crew brings back Show'em Some Love, highlighting players who stood out with impressive performances over the past week. 00:00:00 - Ace Joins The Show 00:01:27 - What Gets T Going in The Gym? 00:04:40 - Julio Rodriguez and 1st Place Mariners 00:20:26 - Vladimir Guerrero Jr. | To Power or Not To Power 00:23:21 - Gage Jump and the Athletics Emerging Pitching Staff 00:33:13 - Another Kyle Harrison Masterclass vs Former Team 00:46:38 - Cam Schlittler Hits a Speed Bump 01:01:56 - Show'em Some Love 01:15:51 - Injury Roundup: Aaron Judge & Garrett Crochet 01:18:09 - Award-Winning Nugs 01:21:51 - Final Thoughts Support the Fight Against ALS: http://Cubs.com/alsauction NEW BID MERCH IS HERE: https://www.baseballisdead.com Trade $20 Get $20 on Kalshi - http://kalshi.com/r/SECTION10 For simple, online access to personalized and affordable care for Hair Loss, ED, Weight Loss, and more, visit Hims.com/BID Upgrade your wallet today!
