The prophet Micah, a contemporary of Isaiah, prophesied the coming judgment of God on the kingdoms of Israel and Judah at the hand of the Assyrians. Our chronological reading order brings the book of Micah into the middle of our study of Isaiah. While Isaiah prophesied a day when the kingdom of Judah would declare, “God is my salvation,” Micah's prophecy is a warning of God's imminent judgment for the sins of Judah and Samaria. We see both prophecies as being of the “already but not yet” type, fulfilled in the eighth century BC, but with a future fulfillment still to come. Bear in mind when reading Isaiah 12 that the the Hebrew word translated “salvation” is Yeshua—Jesus. THE ALIENS have landed with a thud. Although some have praised the new Steven Spielberg film Disclosure Day, many reviewers are less than overwhelmed. We haven't seen the film, but the Takeaway from those who have is that this film would have been much better received during the height of the popularity of The X-Files. Instead, this film feels like it's 30 years out of date. Speaking of aliens, we discuss the growing unrest in the United Kingdom after several recent knife attack attacks captured on video. Each one featured a recent arrival in the UK causing serious bodily harm to a person of European ancestry. Citizens of the UK are now protesting and demanding accountability from the political class who forced these new arrivals on their constituents without their consent. These are the days prophesied by Jesus who told us of a time when nation (Greek ethnos) would rise against nation. A SECRETIVE religious group that wields power in Washington, D.C. and other world capitals — sounds like the basis for Dan Brown's next novel, but it's real. Jeff Sharlet, author of The Family: The Secret Fundamentalism at the Heart of American Power, has been following this group for years, even living at The Family's headquarters for a time. If it was possible to have a coin with three sides, this might be it. We discuss the Discovery of the remains of an employee of Los Alamos National Laboratory, who had gone missing 11 months ago. She reportedly performed a factory reset on both her phones and walked out into the desert. Melissa Casias is one of at least 11 people who have disappeared or died with connections to sensitive government programs related to the UFO phenomenon. Investigators say there is nothing to indicate foul play, but we remain skeptical. Meanwhile, the archbishop of Washington, D.C. removed a priest as an exorcist for the archdiocese after Monsignor Stephen Rossetti posted a video to his Facebook page connecting demons to the UFO phenomenon. While we don't entirely agree with Monsignor Rossetti's understanding, he's not entirely wrong. We also discussed a call by the cofounder of Anthropic, the developers of Claude, AI, for a pause on development of artificial intelligence because of his concern that Large Language Models are on the verge of full recursive self-improvement, meaning artificial intelligence could soon escape any restraints placed on it by humans. In other words, AI is closer to achieving the singularity than we think. Finally, we discussed strange news reports from New York City of men in full protective gear, wearing night goggles, descending into the sewer system at night and re-emerging several hours later. Police don't know what they've been doing down there, but they say at this point there is no threat to public safety. Again, we remain skeptical. A VISION of Noah was inserted into the Book of 1 Enoch, with interesting references to Leviathan and Behemoth. These are chaos monsters. Leviathan, described as female and from the sea, and Behemoth, male and occupying the wilderness—possibly the same one into which the Watcher Azazel was thrown as punishment for his role in corrupting humanity. We discussed the “already but not yet” prophecies of 1 Enoch 57–59 and the end times fulfillment of the vision ascribed to Noah in chapter 60. As a reminder, this month's study comes from the Book of Parables, the prophetic section of 1 Enoch written just before the birth of Jesus. The importance of this section of the book is in its prophecies of a coming messianic figure called the Chosen One, the Anointed One, and, most frequently, the Son of Man, a title not found in any prior Jewish writing. Jesus referred to himself as the Son of Man 78 times in the New Testament. The high regard for 1 Enoch held by Jesus, the apostles, and the early church suggests that it's worth our while to study this book for ourselves. It's not in the Bible, nor should it be, but there are teachings in the New Testament that come straight from the book of 1 Enoch. WE'RE ON the verge of the disclosure of the existence of extraterrestrial life. Or so we're supposed to believe. Steven Spielberg's new movie Disclosure Day will be released June 12, 2026. This is our continuing series pulled from archives going back to 2005. This week, we go through the looking glass in a 2005 episode that shows why we call this program Peering Into Darkness Radio. Originally released June 6, 2005 This week's PID Radio connects some dots to reveal a very disturbing picture. Satanic ritual abuse is a controversial topic. But not only is ritual abuse a real phenomenon, we believe it is more widespread than most of us realize. What's more--and more frightening--it appears that there is an ongoing, coordinated effort to use children, especially marginalized children from poor or broken homes, as sexual playthings for the wealthy and powerful. We talked about the Johnny Gosch case, which was a central thread to tonight's show. Johnny was abducted from Des Moines in 1982 at the age of 12, allegedly by a group working for a man named Lawrence King, owner of the Franklin Community Credit Union in Omaha, Nebraska. Johnny's mother hasn't seen him since--but he's back in the news. Earlier this year, it was revealed that a reporter for an Internet news site, Jeff Gannon, was actually James Guckert, a former male prostitute who had somehow managed to get security clearance to attend White House press briefings. Speculation began to circulate around the web that Gannon/Guckert was in fact the adult Johnny Gosch. What's especially disturbing about this case are the connections between Lawrence King, Boys Town, and power brokers in the Republican Party at the national level: One of the young men who testified in the Franklin Credit Union case was able to draw an accurate floor plan of the private living quarters inside the White House--where the public is never allowed. In addition to the Franklin case, we discussed recent cases of satanic abuse of children in Louisiana, Ohio, the U.K.; the involvement of the CIA in abducting children for use as prostitutes (and possible mind control purposes); and the connection of the recent death of “gonzo journalist” Hunter S. Thompson, Johnny Gosch, and a “snuff film” that may have been recorded at the Bohemian Grove, an annual retreat near Sacramento, California popular with powerful conservative politicians. What's being done to our children is dark and twisted, but it is definitely not limited to a few isolated cases of disturbed individuals. Today Is Pentecost, fifty days after Passover. It's the day the Holy Spirit descended on the followers of Jesus and the day Moses descended Mount Sinai with the Law. We discussed the similarities and differences between those two events. For example, the fire on Mount Sinai and the tongues of fire over the heads of the followers of Jesus; and the 3,000 saved on Pentecost in Acts chapter 2 contrasted with the 3000 who were put to death when Moses returned from Sinai to find the Israelites engaged in debauchery around the golden calf. We also discuss the change between the law on tablets of stone and the law written on our hearts. We bring in passages from Ezekiel 36 in which God promised to restore Israel to the land—not because the Israelites earned it, but for the sake of His Holy Name so that the world would know He is Yahweh. This was fulfilled in 1948. A CONVERGENCE between the pagan world of gods and magic and the high-tech world of artificial intelligence is creating a strange Venn diagram wherein the lines between silicon and spirit are getting blurry. The arrival of the Ark of the Covenant in Jerusalem in the time of David is a foreshadowing of the prophesied return of our King to his earthly throne. This week, we flash back about 250 years to study four psalms we overlooked during the life of David. These Psalms of praise would have been written just after the arrival of the Ark of the Covenant in Jerusalem, as described in 1 Chronicles 13–16. We also discuss the covenants between God and Abraham, Moses, and David, and the difference between the unconditional covenants made with Abraham and David and the Sinaitic covenant with Moses. Though the Israelites, and later Jews, broke faith with God, there are promises. He made that were not dependent on the faithfulness of the people of Israel. Zechariah 12 and 14 tells us of a day when Messiah arrives in Jerusalem at the hour of Israel's greatest need. He will establish His eternal throne there: For the LORD has chosen Zion;he has desired it for his dwelling place:“This is my resting place forever;here I will dwell, for I have desired it. Forgive the boomer reference to the original Star Trek, but it's the best title we could come up with quickly. The messianic prophecy of the one called "the Branch" is the focus of this week's study. We explore the “already but not yet” fulfillment of the promises of the restoration of Israel and judgment against Israel's neighbors—which May have already found partial fulfillment in the wars fought by Israel since 1948. We discuss the seven Spirits of Isaiah 11:2 and the references to those Spirits in the book of Revelation and their relationship to Jesus. We also discussed these so-called Mandela verse, Isaiah 11:6. This is a reference to the Mandela Effect, an Internet meme from a few years ago that claimed time travelers had somehow gone back into history and changed the verse to read, “the wolf shall dwell with the lamb," from, "the lion shall lie down with the lamb." Let's be clear: Isaiah 11:6 never said the lion would lie down with the lamb. First of all, time travel is not a thing. Second, even if it was, God would never allow His Word to be changed. Anyone who suggests that this is possible is a false teacher who can safely be ignored. Are we really afraid God is that weak? OK, that title is clickbait. But it does relate to the biggest stories of the week: The ongoing conflict with Iran and the release of government UFO files. We discuss President Trump's quiet squeeze play on Iran, cutting off its access to a shadow banking system the regime has been using to finance missiles, mercenaries, and proxies on Israel's borders like Hezbollah and Hamas. We also explain why these moves are squeezing China, which will undoubtedly be a topic of discussion when President Trump meets with China's President Xi this week.  The other big story (or distraction, depending on your point of view) this week was the dump of UFO files at war.gov/ufo. News of a pair of meetings earlier this year between an independent UFO research group and evangelical pastors and teachers went viral after Perry Stone released a video about them. As expected, details were twisted and blown out of proportion. ASSUR WAS a name that referred to Assyria, the capital city of Assyria, and the chief deity of Assyria. Knowing which was which means relying on the context in which it's used. In Derek's book The Second Coming of Saturn, he shared research, showing that the word used by the prophet Isaiah for idols, ellilim, derives from the Akkadian name for Assur, Elllil (also known as Enlil, El, Dagon, Molech, Kronos, and Saturn, among others). These idols, then, were spirit beings—underworld spirits equivalent to the Rephaim, or malakim, as they were known at the ancient Amorite kingdoms of Ebla and Mari. In short, we believe chapter 10 of Isaiah is a polemic against the entity called Assur, whom we believe is Shemihazah, the leader of the rebellious sons of God in chapter 6 of the book of Genesis. AS SOCIALISTS worldwide celebrated their annual high holy day, reports about the danger of artificial intelligence bubble under daily reports about Iran and the aftermath of the attempt on President Trump's life last Saturday.  A recent study found that eight out of ten popular AI models assisted researchers posing as 13-year-old boys in planning mass casualty events, despite assurances from developers that guardrails are in place to prevent such things. Taken together with the continued development of lethal autonomous weapons systems (LAWS), some of which are already making appearances on the battlefield in Ukraine, we speculate that entities in the unseen realm may be developing these systems for their own future goals.  That's speculation, of course, but not outside the realm of plausibility. However, most people remain blissfully, unaware, distracted by social media, sports, or the latest political cat fight on cable news. This is our continuing series pulled from archives going back to 2005. This week, we present a program from 2009 in which we summarized a conspiracy so vast it's come to be known as The Octopus. Originally released October 4, 2009 THE TITLE of tonight's show is a reference to the conspiracy investigated by journalist Danny Casolaro--whose death, despite the official ruling, remains a mystery. Casolaro believed it tied the United States government to the Inslaw case (a software company that accused the Justice Department of stealing its extremely powerful PROMIS case management software), the so-called “October Surprise” theory that Iran had held back the American hostages to help Ronald Reagan win the 1980 presidential election, the collapse of the Bank of Credit and Commerce International, and the Iran-Contra scandal. The scheme was so vast and complex that Casolaro referred to it as “the Octopus.” Casolaro was found dead in a hotel room in Martinsburg, West Virginia in August of 1991, his wrists slashed 10 to 12 times. His death was, of course, ruled a suicide. Casolaro's story might have continued its slow fade into the dusty corners of conspiracy theory folklore, except that charges were filed this week against a Miami-based missionary to Honduras named Jimmy Hughes for the 1981 slayings of Fred Alvarez and two associates in Rancho Mirage, California. It is believed that Alvarez was killed to silence him before he could carry out a threat to expose financial improprieties and other illegal activity on the Cabazon Indian reservation in Riverside County, California. Incredibly, what happened on Cabazon land in the late ‘70s and early ‘80s reaches around the world and into the highest levels of the US government -- part of Casolaro's “Octopus”. Central to the story (especially when he tells it) is the mysterious Michael Riconosciuto, now serving a 20-year sentence for production and distribution of meth. Understanding “the Octopus” is like the old story of the blind men trying to comprehend their first encounter with an elephant: the parts you touch can appear to be completely different and totally unrelated. Running over the outlines of the case in about half an hour, we didn't even mention mainstream media reports -- published prior to 9/11 -- that FBI spy Robert Hanssen sold an upgraded version of PROMIS to Russia, which in turn sold it to Osama bin Laden. It's believed Al Qaeda used the software to penetrate databases and move funds between banks without being detected by US counterterror groups. A PROMIS derivative was also allegedly used by Chinese military intelligence to steal nuclear secrets from the Los Alamos and Sandia national laboratories. So, like the Octopus, the tentacles extending from the modifications made by Michael Riconosciuto at the Cabazon reservation are many and far-reaching. JUDGMENT ON evil kings and fallen angels is a major theme of the section of 1 Enoch called the Book of Parables.  This week, we discuss the vision of a deep valley where “angels of punishment” prepare “instruments of Satan” for kings and mighty men who've rebelled against God—and a second valley where “iron chains of immeasurable weight” are “prepared for the hosts of Azazel.” Our reading today ends with the prophecy of the final war against heathen powers. A STATUE of the goddess Athena has been discovered among the ruins of Laodicea—the site of the church Jesus said he would vomit out of his mouth. This is a fitting symbol for the world today. Athena is one manifestation of the ancient Sumerian goddess Inanna, a gender-fluid entity of sex and violence. If you've paid attention to the news over the last decade, you can see why we believe Inanna is the spirit of the age. THE DESTRUCTION of Israel is a theme throughout the book of Amos, but it ends with a prophecy of restoration. The northern kingdom of Israel had engaged in idolatry since the time of Jeroboam, who split the kingdom of Solomon about 200 years before the time of Amos. For this, and for the treatment of the poor by Israel's elites, God decreed the destruction of the kingdom. This was to be fulfilled more than once – first, when Assyria destroyed the northern kingdom in 722 BC; and second, when the Romans scattered the Jews after the rebellion of Simon bar Kokhba in 136 AD. And yet, God told Amos a day would come when the Lord would restore Israel to the land. The reference to "the booth of David" must include the southern kingdom of Judah, since that was where the descendants of David ruled. This was fulfilled in 1948. We believe the prophet Ezekiel also saw this (Ezekiel 36:22–24). IRAN HAS decided to play red light, green light with the Strait of Hormuz. Less than 24 hours after President Trump announced the opening of the critical waterway, Iran declared it closed again. Further, two Indian flagged tankers reportedly came under fire from Iranian speedboats. This suggests that negotiations between the US and Iran over a peaceful resolution to Operation Epic Fury are simply a stalling tactic by the Iranian regime, perhaps counting on Democrats winning the midterm elections or even the 2028 presidential election. Given the way Presidents Biden and Obama willingly sent billions of dollars to Tehran, you can hardly blame them. We discuss the bind into which Iran has placed China, which gets up to 20% of its oil imports from the Islamic regime – at a deep discount because Iran has few buyers for its oil due to sanctions. This is exacerbated by China's loss of access to Venezuelan oil. As a result, China has had to suddenly ramp up its purchases of American oil to roughly $10 billion worth per month. In addition, the United States just signed a defense agreement with Indonesia. That nation sits on the west side of the cap, Strait of Malacca, a waterway even more critical to China's oil imports than the Strait of Hormuz. And to make things more interesting, American oil sails through the Panama Canal, which is now once again under American control, thanks to President Trump. In short, the United States now controls China's access to about 25% of its oil imports, and has military control over waterways through which about 80% of Chinese oil imports flow, for which the Chinese must now pay full price. This may be President Trump's way of responding to China's threats to control American access to critical rare earth minerals. We also discuss the corrupting influence of social media on sharing the gospel. Children now graduate high school so reliant on artificial intelligence that they literally don't see the need to read anything longer than a menu. This week, we feature the first half of a two-part interview we recorded in 2005 with the late Dr. Michael S. Heiser, a Bible scholar with a Ph.D. in Biblical Hebrew and Ancient Semitic Languages. This is P.I.D. 101, a primer in the nature of the spiritual war in which we find ourselves. To wit: What is the Divine Council?What implications does the Divine Council model have for Christian theology?How does this affect our lives? In a nutshell, the Divine Council is the group of divine beings -- seraphim, cherubim, and malakim -- who make up the court of God. It's referenced most notably in I Kings 22:19-23 and Psalm 82. The rebellion of the fallen angels has taken place in several stages: The “serpent” in Eden;The Watchers of Genesis chapter 6, whose interaction with human women produced the Nephilim;The seventy “sons of God” (bene elohim) who were placed over the nations after the incident at the Tower of Babel. Those 70 bene elohim became the gods of the nations around the ancient Hebrews: Marduk, Molech, Chemosh, Baal, Asherah, Dagon, and the rest. PROPHESYING DOOM and destruction during a time of peace and prosperity does not make one popular with the ruling elites. Amos learned this while declaring God's judgment on the northern kingdom of Israel during the reign of Jeroboam II (reigned 793–753 BC), the time of Israel's greatest power. The prophet was confronted by Amaziah, the priest of Bethel, and told to flee to the southern kingdom of Judah, which prompted the Lord to tell the priest that his wife would be forced into prostitution, his children would fall by the sword, Amaziah would die in a foreign land, and Israel would be taken away into exile. These things did come to pass in 732 BC, when Assyria conquered Israel and captured the capital city of Samaria. We also discuss the strange reference in the Septuagint to “King Gog” or “Agag, the king” in Amos 7:1, which is quite different from the ESV rendering, “the king's mowings” (or the NET translation, “the royal harvest”). Apparently the LXX translators didn't know what to make of the literal Hebrew (“the mowings of the king”) but recognized the context as a prophecy of destruction. Agag was the Amalekite king spared by Saul (and then executed by Samuel). In the book of Esther, Haman, the Persian official who plotted the genocide of the Jews (and thus a symbol of hatred toward Jews), was called “the Agagite.” Gog, a reference to Ezekiel 38–39, is the great end times enemy of God—essentially the Old Testament conception of the Antichrist.  Thus, the Septuagint translators who struggled to interpret an archaic reference simply plugged in a similar-sounding word (Gog or Agag) that preserved the context of a prophesied supernatural enemy of God and Israel. This is our continuing series of interviews pulled from our 21 years of archives. This week, we feature a 2005 interview with the late David Duncan about what he called The New World Order Scam. Originally released over three weeks in December, 2005 In December of 2005, we interviewed David Duncan about his belief that Christians were being set up by various groups to take the fall for most of what's wrong with America, and thus the world. He called his theory the biggest double cross in all of history, “The New World Order Scam.” This came from a Chance meeting in 1966 in San Francisco with a man named Allen Noonan. Noonan was one of a group of contactees who claimed to heaven encountered UFOs in the 1950s. Dave described how late one night in 1967, at a communal house in Haight-Ashbury, Noonan was overshadowed by a radiant spirit being that identified itself as Lucifer. Noonan revealed something to his followers during David's time in San Francisco called "the plan." Given what's happening in the world today, especially over the last six weeks, this interview has once again become relevant. David Duncan's website is no longer online, but it is archived here. WHEN THE Vice President of the United States mentions aliens and demons in the same sentence, you know we've entered a new era. J. D. Vance recently told podcaster Benny Johnson he doesn't believe ETs are aliens, he thinks they're demons. Needless to say, that drew a lot of snarky comments from the media, even though the vice president isn't entirely wrong.  Then Johnson, who seems to be asking all his guests about the UFO/UAP phenomenon these days, heard this from former Florida congressman Matt Gaetz: “I had someone come and brief me who was in a military uniform, worked for the United States Army, that was briefing me on the locations of hybrid breeding programs where captured aliens were breeding with humans to create some hybrid race that could engage in intergalactic communication. An actual uniformed member of the United States Army briefed me on that.” Gaetz claimed the man told him that the secret program forced extraterrestrials in custody to mate with humans who'd been abducted from war zones or “from caravans with migrants.” Gaetz admitted he hadn't verified the whistleblower's claims, but said he was told there were between six and 12 breeding facilities around the country. This reminded us of the breeding program in the film Alien vs. Predator, in which humans were used to incubate the monstrous aliens from the film franchise at a secret lair under the ice in Antarctica. The imagery in that film borrows heavily from the horror fiction of author H. P. Lovecraft, whose work was, probably not coincidentally, the inspiration for Erich von Däniken's Chariots of the Gods? Derek documented the links between Lovecraft and von Däniken in the recent book Destination: Earth, which we excerpted at our Substack page last year (GilbertHouse.substack.com). We are skeptical. Biologically, a breeding program between wildly incompatible species makes no sense. Technologically, the barriers to crossing vast distances of space are not understood by those of us who aren't astrophysicists or aerospace engineers. Let's just say that hyperspace, warp drive, and wormholes are science fiction – emphasis on fiction. Our take is that this is another example of the military-intelligence complex controlling the UFO narrative, as it's done since 1947. Not coincidentally, we are just two months away from the release of the new Steven Spielberg UFO/ET movie, Disclosure Day. We also discussed the mystery of eight dead or missing scientists over the last two years, all connected to some aspect of aerospace engineering or astronomical science. This reminds us of a mystery we talked about often in the early days of this podcast, going back to 2005, of scientists in the fields of molecular biology and genetics going missing or turning up deceased. What is the cause of these mysterious deaths and disappearances? We can only speculate. However, the fact that at least two of the recent disappearances left home without their phones – and in one case, phones were wiped, clean through factory reset – points to abductions. It seems unlikely that anyone leaving home of their own accord, especially those known as avid hikers, would do so without their phone. JOHN THE BAPTIST taught a radical new idea: Forgiveness of sins came through repentance, not ritual—even for Gentiles. And this new doctrine was first introduced in the Book of 1 Enoch. John's teaching came from 1 Enoch 50:2–3: He heaped evil upon the sinners; but the righteous ones shall be victorious in the name of the Lord of the Spirits. He will cause the others to see this so that they may repent and forsake the deeds of their hands. There shall not be honor unto them in the name of the Lord of the Spirits. But through his name they shall be saved, and the Lord of the Spirits shall have mercy upon them, for his mercy is considerable. (James H. Charlesworth translation) The “righteous ones” were the Essenes. Scholars generally agree now that this section of 1 Enoch, the Book of Parables (chapters 37–71 of 1 Enoch), was written by one or more Essenes living in a community near the city of Magdala on the northwest shore of the Sea of Galilee in the last quarter of the 1st century BC—in other words, just before the birth of Jesus. “The others” referred to Gentiles (and Jews who didn't follow the Law). The idea that Gentiles could be saved was a radical departure from traditional Jewish (and Essene!) teachings, which is why priests and Levites from Jerusalem came to interrogate John. HEADLESS HUMANS in tanks for experiments and transplant organs: this is our future if a new biotech startup is successful.  R3 Bio claims this is an ethical alternative to animal testing and could provide a source of needed organs for transplants. We see it as a horrific degradation of what it means to be human—bearing the image of God, His moral agents on Earth.  Further, it's driven by the transhumanist goal of achieving immortality without God, which means without having to change how we think or act towards our fellow humans.  Frankly, that sounds like Hell on Earth.  We also discuss Melania Trump's gathering of first spouses from around the world, including Bridget, Macron of France, Sarah Netanyahu of Israel, and Olena Zelenska of Ukraine. THE IMMINENT DESTRUCTION of the northern kingdom of Israel by Assyria was prophesied by Amos. ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE is far more advanced than most of us realize. In fact, it may be the instrument through which the Antichrist comes to power. Tech entrepreneur and billionaire Peter Thiel delivered four lectures in Rome this week on the subject of the Antichrist. He was disavowed by the Vatican and Catholic universities in Rome, and protesters gathered outside the private, invitation only events. The irony, according to Lt. Col. Robert Maginnis, author of the forthcoming book The New AI Cold War (next week's guest on A View from the Bunker), is that while Thiel correctly foresees the coming of the prophesied Antichrist, he excludes the AI-powered surveillance system created by his own company from the Beast system that will be used to enslave of humanity. We also discussed an important news item that broke overnight: Iran launched two medium-range ballistic missiles at the US airbase on the island of Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean. This is significant. Until the last 24 hours, experts did not believe Iran had missiles with that kind of range. Now, we know Iran can reach every European capital, including London, with its weapons. Maybe, just maybe, President Trump and Prime Minister Netanyahu had access to intelligence that the experts did not, and Iran was, in fact, more of a clear and present danger to the world than their critics would like us to believe. Finally, we again discuss the theological imagery of the 2016 movie Godzilla: King of Monsters. If you haven't seen it, we recommend it. AMOS WASN'T a trained prophet, yet his words resonate today, highlighting the injustices and moral decay of society. It's a stark reminder that the rich must not oppress the poor, a message as relevant now as it was then.   This week, we begin to explore the Book of Amo, focusing on its key messages and relevance today. Amos addressed social injustice and religious corruption in ancient Israel. Amos, a shepherd from Tekoa, delivered his messages during a time of relative peace and prosperity in Israel, specifically around the 8th century BC. However, this prosperity came at a cost, as the rich oppressed the poor, and religious practices deviated from true worship.  The Book of Amos begins with God's proclamation of judgment on the neighbors of Israel and Judah: Aram, Ammon, Moab, Edom, Tyre, and Gaza (the Philistines). A CARDBOARD CUTOUT of Mojtaba Khamenei stood in for the real thing at a rally in Tehran this week because Iran's new supreme leader is reportedly in no shape to make public appearances.  According to reports in the Daily Mail and The Sun, Khameini was badly injured in an air strike and may be comatose—unaware he's the supreme leader of Iran. Why would the IRGC elevate a comatose man to this position? Possibly as political cover so they can rule in his name. Whether Mojtaba Khameini is even alive at this point is an open question. Contrary to claims by critics, this conflict has deep historical roots, intertwining with religious and cultural narratives that complicate the straightforward analysis of the situation. As the geopolitical landscape shifts, NATO's role is also under scrutiny. NATO's response is indicative of a larger shift within the organization, as it grapples with internal divisions and external pressures. ISAIAH'S PROPHECY of a coming Messiah included foreseeing where Jesus would declare war on the fallen realm.  Chapter 9 of the book of Isaiah picks up where the prophet left off, condemning the people of Israel, for consulting the dead on behalf of the living. His prophecy that a light would shine on those dwelling in a land of deep darkness was cited by Matthew as fulfilled when Jesus moved from Nazareth to Capernaum. We connect this to Psalm 23 in the valley of the shadow of death, which in our view is the Jordan River Valley between Mount Hermon and the Sea of Galilee. Isaiah 9 also includes the prophecy of a coming Savior who is called “Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace” (Isa. 9:6). We discussed the interesting rendering of this verse in the Lexham English Septuagint, in which “Wonderful Counselor” is translated “Messenger of the Great Council.” The second half of this chapter is devoted to God's judgment on the northern Kingdom of Israel, which was fulfilled when the Assyrians overran and conquered Samaria in 722 BC. A FIFTH COLUMN of conservative influencers is fracturing the base of support for President Trump by pushing ideas from the man called “Putin's brain.”  Aleksandr Dugin had hoped President Trump would lead the United States into a multipolar world. Instead, Trump's willingness to use the United States military to achieve specific goals in Iran, namely, regime change and the prevention of the Islamic Republic obtaining nuclear weapons, has shattered that vision.  Meanwhile, podcasters like Tucker Carlson, Megyn Kelly, Candace Owens, Nick Fuentes, and others are, whether they realize it or not, pushing Dugin's worldview on their viewers—specifically, a philosophy that blames Zionists for all of the world's evils. Candace Owens has gone so far as to call for active duty military personnel to leave their posts rather than die for Israel. WHEN PEOPLE move from one nation to another, do they bring their gods with them? We ask because God delegated authority over the nations to angelic beings called "sons of God" after the tower of Babel incident (Deuteronomy 32:8). The Western world has been flooded by migrants from parts of the world that are generally not Christian over the last 15 years. Is this more than simply trying to compensate for low birth rates in the northern hemisphere? In our book, the Gates of Hell, we showed how the location of Jesus ministry mattered. ISAIAH REPEATEDLY condemned the practice of summoning spirits from the netherworld. It's not always apparent because translators often didn't have an understanding of the cult of the dead that surrounded ancient Israel, and the impact it had on the Israelites. After prophesying the imminent destruction of the northern kingdom of Israel by Assyria, the prophet condemned the people of Judah for turning to mediums and necromancers to ”inquire of the dead on behalf of the living”. Derek wrote about Isaiah 8:18–22 in The Second Coming of Saturn: The prophet described those who looked to the spirit realm for oracles as people who were already dead: They live in darkness, and they're “greatly distressed and hungry,” like the pagan dead of Mesopotamia who are not properly cared for by their descendants. In verse 21, Isaiah makes the connection to the dead explicit, writing that these unhappy souls will “pass through” the land. The Hebrew verb ‘ābar is based on the same root, ʿbr, from which we get ʿōberim—“Travelers,” as in the spirits of the dead who “travel” or “cross over” from the land of the dead to the world of the living; it's the same word used by the pagan Canaanites to describe the Rephaim summoned from the underworld through rituals to the threshing-floor of El on Mount Hermon.What Isaiah described is the punishment for those who defied God by using ritual pits to summon the spirits of the dead—they become like the unhappy dead themselves. When they realize their fate, “they will be enraged.” But in the context of the passage, with an understanding of the cult of the dead and the role of the “king” god in it, a better translation of the following sentence is this: “And they shall curse by Molek and by their ghosts.” (Elohay, the word translated “ghosts,” isn't always a reference to God. The basic meaning is “one who lives in the spirit realm.” Context is king, and here “ghosts” or “spirits” is a more accurate reading than “God.”)-- The Second Coming of Saturn, p. 188. THE PROPHET ISAIAH lived through turbulent times, with kings of Judah who ranged from the good (Hezekiah, Jotham. Uzziah) to the evil (Ahaz, Manasseh, Amon).  In Isaiah 7, the prophet is sent to Ahaz by God with a word about the invasion of his land by the combined forces of Syria and the northern kingdom of Israel. This was despite the fact that Ahaz “made offerings in the Valley of the Son of Hinnom and burned his sons as an offering” (2 Chr. 28:3, ESV), a reference to the sacrifice of children to Molech. God gave Ahaz a sign, an already-but-not-yet prophecy:  Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. He shall eat curds and honey when he knows how to refuse the evil and choose the good. For before the boy knows how to refuse the evil and choose the good, the land whose two kings you dread will be deserted. (Isa. 7:14–16, ESV)This was a promise that Judah would not be conquered by his northern neighbors, but it was also a promise that a virgin in the future (Mary) would give birth to “God with us”—the meaning of the name Immanuel. THE ESSENES who wrote the second section of the Book of 1 Enoch, chapters 37–71 (called The Book of Parables), foresaw a coming Savior called the Son of Man. This was a new doctrine for Jews in the 1st century AD. The Zadokite priesthood in Jerusalem believed that faithful adherence to the Law would redeem the world. The Essenes of the Upper Galilee taught that the world had been so corrupted by the rebellious Watchers that only God's direct intervention could make things right. 1 Enoch is the first Jewish writing to put forward this doctrine, and the first to called the agent of God's divine judgment the Anointed One, the Chosen One, and The Son of Man. And it's clear in the text that the Son of Man is God Himself: For this purpose he became the Chosen One; he was concealed in the presence of (the Lord of the Spirits) prior to the creation of the world, and for eternity. (1 Enoch 48:6, Charlesworth translation) Here are the Bible verses about angels Derek referred to: “See that you do not despise one of these little ones. For I tell you that in heaven their angels always see the face of my Father who is in heaven…” (Matt. 18:10, ESV) Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels unawares. ISAIAH WAS commissioned as a prophet in the year King Uzziah of Judah died—and it was a mindbending sight. One of the seraphim descended from the altar with a burning coal in a pair of tongs and touched Isaiah's lips to absolve him of sin so that he could remain in the presence of God. We discuss the seraphim, who were probably winged, radiant beings of serpentine appearance. The word “seraphim” literally means “burning ones,” in the sense that they destroyed enemies by incinerating them, suggesting that the seraphim may have been what we'd call dragons. Then, after hearing the Lord ask, “Who will go for us?” Isaiah responded, “Here I am! Send me”—something all of us who follow Jesus Christ do to one degree or another when we accept him as Lord.
