On this episode of the Fully Charged Show Podcast, Robert welcomes Texan Sharon Wilson. Sharon began her career in the oil & gas industry but is now a leading figure in "methane hunting." As a certified optical gas imaging thermographer, she travels across the U.S., exposing the invisible methane pollution from oil and gas facilities. Sharon uses this technology to educate policymakers, media, and industry leaders through tours. Sharon's dedication to documenting methane emissions and advocating for environmental accountability arose from a personal experience. Unaware of the environmental impact, she purchased 42 acres in Wise County, Texas, bordering the LBJ National Grasslands. Unbeknownst to her, George Mitchell was experimenting with fracking techniques in the area. Witnessing firsthand the devastating effects of fracking, with air turning brown and water turning black, she documented her experience on her blog, texassharon.com. This experience led Sharon and her son to relocate to Denton, Texas, seeking a cleaner environment. However, this move ultimately fueled her passion for environmental advocacy. In 2010, she joined Earthworks' Oil & Gas Accountability Project, making it her life's work. Enjoy Sharon's incredible story! Bryony speaks to two fascinating guests, both specialising in methane emissions, their causes and impacts: Dr. Sebastien Biraud and Sharon Wilson.Dr. Biraud is a biogeochemist, leading the Climate Sciences Department. Sebastien's work has taken him to the tropical rainforests of the Amazon, the great plains of the United States, and the Arctic tundra. He is currently co-leading/leading projects for the U.S. Department of Energy and the California Energy Commission. These projects involve integrating and applying high-precision greenhouse gas observations to advance research on the atmospheric carbon cycle and to enhance measurement, reporting, and verification of greenhouse gas emissions. Sharon is a 5th generation Texan who, after 12 years working for the oil and gas industry in Ft. Worth, left and bought 42 acres in Wise County. Unknown to her at the time was that George Mitchell was experimenting in Wise County to figure out how to produce oil and gas from shale. She had a ringside seat at the sneak preview called Fracking Impacts. This experience prompted her to join Earthworks', working on their Oil & Gas Accountability Project in 2010. In 2014, she became a certified optical gas imaging thermographer and now travels across the U.S. making visible the invisible methane pollution from oil and gas facilities through her non-profit, Oilfield Witness, and giving tours to media, Members of Congress, state lawmakers, regulators, and investment bankers. Case Summary - A Presentation of Heart Failure and Heart Block with Elusive Genetic Origins - Cambridge University A man in his 40s with a history of cardiac issues, including prior myocarditis and complete heart block, presented with progressive heart failure symptoms. Extensive cardiac investigations were conducted, revealing dilated left ventricle, mild to moderate left ventricular systolic dysfunction, normal coronaries, infero-lateral late gadolinium enhancement on cardiac MRI, and low-level uptake on PET-CT. Differential diagnosis included worsening underlying cardiomyopathy, recurrent myocarditis, tachycardia-related cardiomyopathy, pacemaker-induced LV dysfunction, and sarcoidosis. The patient's condition improved with heart failure medications, and cardiac MRI showed a mildly dilated left ventricle with moderate systolic dysfunction and active inflammation in the anterior wall. Further evaluation indicated a family history of hereditary cardiomyopathy, and the patient exhibited phenotypic features such as early-onset heart disease, arrhythmias, family history of cardiomyopathy, learning problems, intellectual disability, and mild proximal myopathy. Genetic testing confirmed a LAMP2 mutation, leading to the diagnosis of Danon disease. While much of the international community's climate action has focused on controlling carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, in doing so, we've essentially given a pass on another very powerful greenhouse gas: methane. With 86 times the warming impact of CO2 over a twenty-year period, new studies show that methane accounts for about 30-50 percent of today's global warming. Thankfully, after years of pressure from activists and climate scientists, in 2021 world leaders finally started paying attention to our growing methane problem. While US President Biden created something of a stir leading an international pledge to reduce methane emissions, the EU actually introduced some rules intended to control methane pollution both inside the 27-member bloc as well as outside of it. In this second episode in a series focusing on methane, host Michael Buchsbaum interviews James Turitto, Campaign Manager for Methane Pollution Prevention at the Clear Air Task Force. We also hear an excerpt from Sharon Wilson, Senior Field Advocate at Earthworks, who has long been documenting carbon leakage in the US. You can play the episode on Audioboom, and it's also available on Spotify and Apple Podcasts. Audio from the podcast was mixed and edited by audio expert Christian Kreymborg.

Sharon Wilson, an activist documenting the latest fracking boom in Texas, recently returned from the United Nations climate summit and was “devastated” when the final agreement did not mention any reduction in oil and gas drilling. Wilson uses a thermographic camera to capture pollution spewing from fossil fuel infrastructure in the Permian Basin, where oil production is projected to increase by 50 percent over the next decade. Mike Ludwig asks Wilson what the Permian “climate bomb” looks like up close and personal. Music by Dan Mason.

There are thought to be over 10,000 gas flares around the world that contribute to global warming by emitting tonnes of carbon dioxide and methane. Flared gas is a by-product of oil extraction and is frequently used as a method of eliminating unwanted gasses in countries such as Albania, Algeria, Libya, Iraq, Russia and Nigeria. Yet, year after year deadlines set to stop the practice are missed. The oil industry says better infrastructure is needed to stop flaring and some of the world's largest producers of oil have committed to ending flaring by 2030. What will it take for that to happen? Put your goal out there and find everything you can possibly find to align and feel good and feel happy. –Sharon Wilson In this episode of the Plan Simple Meals Podcast, I’m really excited to talk with Sharon Wilson, Founder, and Chief Inspiration Officer for over 22 years at the Coaching from Spirit Institute about attracting your ideal clients. She thinks of your ideal clients as your soul clients and says they are already here and are called at a soul level for you to serve them. Sharon started her own business and replaced her corporate executive income with a newborn baby. How did she make the leap? She was miserable in her job, dealing with her misery by shopping, deeply in debt, and in a struggling marriage. She asked that if there was anything up there it would be a good time for something to show up. The powerful spiritual experience that followed set her on the road to becoming a spiritual coach. While she was still in her corporate position, people started showing up and saying they had a dream they were supposed to talk to her. People kept showing up for help, and she started honing her life coach skills. Then she got pregnant and really sick and had to leave her job. Her husband thought it would be temporary, but her journaling and meditation showed her it was time to take the leap and launch her spiritual coaching business. We talk about: How she replaced her corporate executive income within three months Getting really clear on the stories we tell ourselves and letting go of guilt Being really careful about who you tell your dreams and goals to so that people don’t dissipate your energy Episode aligning and adjusting vibrations Understanding your relationship with money Writing a partnership agreement with your inner guidance ABOUT SHARON Sharon Wilson is a co-author of "Intentional Change” and Mastering the Laws of Attraction with best selling author and human potential expert, Jack Canfield. This is PART ONE of a special seven-part series, called, “The Plastic Plague: Connecting the Dots between Extraction, Inequity, and Pollution.” As most people understand, plastic originates from oil and fracked natural gas. In order to limit the flow of plastic, we must look to the well from which it came, before it ever becomes waste. The rapid growth of cheap fracked gas in the past decade has led to accelerating methane emissions, a potent greenhouse gas planet warmer. Drilling and fracking leads to serious public health and safety impacts, poisoning and destroying public lands and wildlife, and contaminating our air and water. The fight against the expansion of new oil development and the fight to reduce plastics pollution are inseparable. To stop the flow of plastic, you have to go to its beginning. On today’s episode (part 1 of a 7-part series), we tackle the beginnings of plastic at the source of its initial social and environmental impacts.
