Are you in a confusing relationship? This type of relationship most often occurs within families. It could be with your husband, mother, father, sister, in-laws, or even with your extended family. Is there someone who intentionally or unintentionally gaslights you or sends you mixed messages, causing you to doubt your self-worth, your values or core beliefs? Maybe you have a parent who consistently invalidates your feelings? Or perhaps you have a husband who doesn't move toward your bid to connect? Their behavior isn't outwardly "out to get you," but it makes you start to question yourself, your feelings, and how you experience the world. Their behavior causes you to doubt yourself, and think that maybe there is something wrong with you. It might even be making you feel guilty for something that is not your fault. If you are in a confusing relationship, you might be managing other people's behavior in order to protect yourself...and you are also managing your own reactions so as not to agitate other people's emotions. This can be exhausting! Also, did you know that people can exhibit self-centered narcissistic behavior without actually having a narcissistic disorder? In this truly insightful conversation with Shev Simon, an IFS (Internal Family Systems Practitioner), she sheds lights on confusing relationships so that women make sense of their experiences and show up in life with more calm and ease. For more information and to schedule a chat with Shev, you can reach her here:Website: shevsimoncoaching.comFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/shev.simon.9Vera Kessler (host of America's Top Rebbetzins) is a certified life coach. August 8, 2024 This episode features an interview with Shevanthi Daniel-Rabkin, Senior Program Director of DAWI, and Theodora Rodine, Executive Assistant and Project Coordinator for the U.S. Federation of Worker Cooperatives. They will discuss the upcoming 2024 Worker Co-op Conference (WCC24), set to take place in Chicago, IL from September 12-14. Celebrating its 20th year, the Worker Co-op Conference has consistently united a vibrant community of budding, seasoned, and prospective entrepreneurs. Shevanthi (Shev) Daniel-Rabkin is Senior Program Director of DAWI. Shevanthi provides strategic support on program implementation and growth for DAWI's conversion work with city municipalities, technical assistance providers, legacy business owners and consulting services. Shevanthi comes to DAWI after successfully launching and implementing worker cooperative management certificate programs, as well as a city focused cooperative education and incubation program at the Center for Inclusive Entrepreneurship. The conference is co-hosted by Democracy at Work Institute (DAWI) and the U.S. Federation of Worker Cooperatives as the organizations celebrate their 10th and 20th anniversaries respectively. The conference cultivates a network of interconnected and interdependent worker owners, business developers, policymakers, funders, and labor organizers, all driven toward a common goal of improving the lives of workers and their families. WCC24 will foster relationships and strategies within the worker co-op community and knit us closer to other labor movements.

This week, Marisa presents Doin' Time from Dja Dja Wurrung country. First up on the show, she interviews Chris Breen from the Refugee Action Collective, about the good, the bad and the ugly of the new Labor Government's policies regarding refugees and asylum seekers -- despite many hard-fought wins by on-the-ground refugee activism, and Labor's promise to provide permanent visas to those on temporary and SHEV visas, there is still a long way to go: Labor's deterrent approach is currently neglecting the >10,000 people on bridging visas, Medevac refugees, children of families on Nauru, the 9,700 refugees already rejected by the fast-track system (and were not even allowed an interview), the number of people remaining in offshore detention, and those in Indonesia. He discusses the contradictory attitude of this government who, on the same day of announcing the Murugappan family's return to Biloela in central QLD, turned their first boat back to Sri Lanka. You can tell the Albanese government to do more by attending the rally ahead of world refugee day: 1pm June 18th, State Library of Victoria. Later, Marisa speaks with Josephine Langbien, Senior Lawyer at the Human Rights Law Centre, about their recent media release: "[We have] welcomed the appointment of Claire O'Neill as the Minister of Home Affairs and Andrew Giles as the Minister of Immigration, Citizenship and Multicultural Affairs and have called on them to take action to end a decade of cruelty against refugees and people seeking safety". She discusses the years of cruelty, mistreatment and neglect that has been an intentional policy against people seeking safety and protection, and the opportunity this cabinet change offers to bring fairness and dignity to our refugee policy. Josephine details the five specific steps the HRLC is hopeful the new government can address as priority areas for change: Ending the use of temporary protectionShutting down offshore detentionAddressing the crisis in immigration detention within AustraliaBringing families back togetherRestoring our humanitarian resettlement program Lastly, Marisa invites Nerita Waight, proud Yorta Yorta woman and CEO of the Victorian Aboriginal Legal Service, on the program. Nerita has been with VALS for almost a decade and has a vast amount of experience as both a lawyer and a social justice advocate. She discusses the case challenging aged pension discrimination for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people as it heads to Full Federal Court later this year. She highlights the need for fair and equal access to benefits for Aboriginal people who commonly do not reach pension age by virtue of lower life expectancy. Until this life expectancy gap is properly addressed, Aboriginal people have the right to retire with dignity; she notes that this change would also improve economic participation, financial security and the overall wellbeing of people who can no longer work. Marisa ends the program by reading a media release entitled Routine strip searching of children in Tasmanian jails to end.Tune in next week for our Radiothon special program, and please donate if you can. We all grow and develop at different paces and rates, some of us are slow, steady and consistent, others grow in sharp bursts and spikes. And some of us resist growth and change all together. In nature, it's said that if the plant isn't growing, it's dying. But each plant also has their own unique rhythm for growth. We know the same to be true for relationships, they need to continually develop to last forever. But how do we navigate the stages of a relationship when one person is growing and blooming and the other is hibernating for winter?Siobhan & Declan have been together for over a decade, Declan is a happiness researcher, author, keynote speaker and the founder of BU Happiness College. Siobhan (aka Shev) is a dog loving, cake-baking, care-giving lover of life. They've worked both on themselves and their relationship and in this episode they share their story and some of the lessons learned along the way. Merriam-Webster's Word of the Day for February 8, 2022 is: disheveled dih-SHEV-uld adjective Disheveled means "marked by disorder or disarray." // His hair disheveled and his clothes wrinkled, the late student had clearly overslept. See the entry > Examples: "I'm a realist. … I know what I see. And what I see is a team that's somewhat disheveled. And that's on me. Somehow, … I do not have the ability at this point in time to affect my players to make sure that we're in a better place mentally and physically, to play the kind of basketball we need to play." — Geno Auriemma, quoted in ESPN, 9 Dec. 2021 Did you know? Disheveled comes from Middle English discheveled, meaning "bareheaded" or "with disordered hair." That word is partially based on Anglo-French deschevelé, a combination of the prefix des- ("dis-") and chevoil ("hair"). In English, disheveled describes things other than hair that have a messy or untidy appearance.

Don't we have bigger fish to fry?The media focuses its attention - and therefore our attention - on a few national level offices like President and some Senate offices.BUT!Life happens at the local level! And the decisions made at the city, county, and state level have an ENORMOUS impact on our actual lives. It's not just tax codes and jaywalking ordinances (not that those aren't exciting).Housing discrimination gets encoded in city council meetings, and white supremacy is enforced by municipal police departments or county sheriffs.By the same token, those laws, those rules, and those budgets can be unwritten and renegotiated in those same offices. And the people who run for these offices are accessible! They live in your town, they get coffee from your favorite coffee spot. Sometimes they even check their own email! And there is no shortage of awesome, inspiring people who are stepping up to run and occupy these offices, and to use their power to tear down oppressive structures and help make their communities more just, more equitable, and more compassionate. We will never achieve justice at the national level until we can practice it at the local level. We will never achieve equity at the national level until we can practice it at the local level. What we have to work on is our imagination. We need to practice imagining what that society might look like if we practiced our values instead of believing them to be out of reach. And we need role models of inspiration to activate our imaginations. This podcast is on a quest to introduce you to these role models. They exist, right now, all over the country. They are regular people, but they are willing to exercise their imaginations and then do the work to make it real. Before Shev joins the episode I spend a little time on a brief history of Florida's state level politics. Seguir leyendo: www.facebook.com/institutotorah

The girls are getting old and have moved on into their thirties. To stay with the theme, it is all things thirty. Bet you didn’t know there was so much behind the number 30 did you? Well after this episode you will know even more. And speaking of knowing, Shev also shows off and recalls the 200 digits of pi that she knows by memory… show off.
Because they have nothing better to talk about, Matter of Laugh continues their venture into the world of The Bachelorette. Hannah Beast brings four guys to the fantasy suites and takes one into a windmill and the girls predict what will happen while digging into the past of the last four guys standing! And don’t forget, even after all this, Jesus still loves her. This episode features two very special guests that got dragged into this episode by association and proximity.

Shev and Schab watch and record this episode live with the viewing of the Bachelorette on Monday July 1st. This is the episode before hometowns and the numbers are winding down. Over a couple glasses of wine, the girls present their true feelings towards these men and give you every detail that happened this episode during the commercials. If you don’t watch this show, this will be quite meaningless, but if you do, you will already know what happens, so really nobody needs to hear this.
With Schab home sick and Shev’s fear of germs, Matter of Laugh records their first episode away from one another. The quality is so bad you will likely stop listening shortly after they begin. More details of “The Catnapping of Sangrio” are revealed and the story begins to come to life, so that's fun.
Shev and Schab dive into the mysteries of the English language while at a loss of words themselves. It is a struggle of an episode, but it actually turned out great. Both Shev and Schab were in weird moods, they decided that they would write the mystery comedy short story “The Catnapping of Sangrio” THIS IS NOT A DRILL!
Shev and little bit of Schab came prepared with fun questions and a new version of “This or That” for the honored guests Casey Jost and Joe Imburgio, comedy producers of the TV series Impractical Jokers and hosts of the JV Squadcast. After discussing rabid mexican hairlesses, Alvin Schwartz and discovering the striking similarities between Matter of Laugh and JV Squadcast, the four finally get to the real fun of the episode. The episode ends with a bang when one of the four hosts gets jinxed; who do you think it is?
Shev and Schab discuss all things that can make you cry from Dustin Pedroia, to onions, to lack of sleep. Starting with a recap of the Star Wars themed Red Sox Game last week, Shev gives Schab a very brief Star Wars lesson and Schab finally reveals the stadium giveaway. Something incredibly special happens to Shev at the game and she is ready for the rest of the baseball season in hopes her team starts to pick it up. And although there are so many things that make these girls cry, they cannot cry on demand.
In this exhilarating episode Shev and Schab, in attempt to discuss rock climbing, spent a whopping 10 minutes on the subject and spent the rest on burping, rings, Mitch Moreland, drones, limewire and almost anything but climbing. And really that’s about it.
March 28th marked an important date for past topics of Matter of Laugh. Shev and Schab revisit the Bachelor, Red Sox, Impractical Jokers, and the fan page with crazy robots. A content filled episode goes from Schab having bangs to cinnamon to ice cream. Once again, the lovely catfishing robots provide some quality quotes; hence the wonderful title. Listen to the episode to hear the rest. If you’re still in school you might just find your senior quote for the yearbook!
Following the latest installment of Matter of Laugh, Shev and Schab revisit their Bachelor predictions and discuss their many inaccuracies. Didn’t watch the Bachelor? That’s perfect because this is all you really need to know about the season and how it ended. The fence jump and the winner is revealed and highly judged by the two hosts. Then Shev finally tells the tale of the “secret lounge” on the Impractical Jokers Cruise (3) and announced the next podcast guests!
As the Bachelor season finale comes to an end next week, Shev and Schab revisit this past season and make their predictions for the semi finale and finale. Schab is a more experienced bachelor fanatic than Shev and has many strong opinions about the Gerber baby Colton Underwood. Shev and Schab analyze the first official full video of the fence jump and see if there are any spoilers. This could be a busy episode for Colton, he WILL jump the fence and he MAY lose his “virginity” in the fantasy suites.
Episode that was meant to be published before the Impractical Jokers Cruise was not. What was meant to be about winter and escaping the cold turned into a show about the wonders of mother nature, space, mind grapes. Schab establishes Shev as the alpha. Shev talks about her excitement for the cruise. Shev and Schab argue over the word celestial. And just to be fun, Schab wants to make this an explicit episode, so you have been warned.
You read that right! Or did you? Anyways, Shev set up a fan page for an artist years back and one crazy fan (or bot) sent a message to the page and it is one of the craziest stories you will ever hear. Just listen for yourself, you won’t believe it (because it’s fake).
Darren Wearmouth joins Shev again in part two of two back to back episodes. This time focusing on The Brink, the sequel to Awakened written by James S. Murray (A.K.A Murr from Impractical Jokers) with Mr. Darren Wearmouth. Excited for the new book? So are we, so take a listen to this episode and get hyped and learn about the writing process, editing process and more with exclusive content only heard on Matter of Laugh. And of course another round of “This or That” introduces Shev to strange British lingo. Most importantly, what Hogwarts house would Darren be assigned to? Listen now and pre-order The Brink now at Awakenednovel.com and dive into the soul of the fantastic writer and human being, Darren Wearmouth.
Darren Wearmouth joins Shev as a return guest on Matter of Laugh for the Holiday Special. With a special themed holiday This or That, we find out that Darren and Shev celebrate the holidays in many similar ways. From Cousin Eddy to squishy plums we touch upon many holiday topics. Darren makes Shev question many things she thought she knew about the holidays, but also teaches a thing or two about the British Christmas traditions. The highlight of the episode is a special holiday Mad-Libs featuring a Christmas song. Bet you can’t guess which one it is?
Gemma, host of the Talking Codswallop Podcast, joins Shev and Schab from across the pond for a wonderful episode as the sole representation of the Brits. Answering hard hitting questions (like polka dots or stripes) Gemma brings new laughs, new words, and new meaning to to things you thought you knew. However, Shev and Gemma do connect on a few things; their podcasting experience and their filters. Come on, listen to these three codswallop heads; you won't regret it.
After some not so boring business for a quarter of the episode your sick (cough cough) hosts get into some weird Thanksgiving conversation. Shev and Schab try to stay on topic, but find themselves on a number of tangents. Thanksgiving (loosely) related Guinness World Records, weird Thanksgiving themed food, and David S. Pumpkins are sure to get you in the mood for the Forgotten Borough of Holidays.
The Red Sox won the World Series and Shev was there to experience game 2. But before the series began, Shev and Schab got to sit down to discuss the reign of Boston Sports. Dan is back with Defending the Impossible and boy did he choose the wrong team to root for. Was Shev responsible for the World Series win and the fate of the Red Sox destiny with her lucky shirt? And last bit of advice: don’t just hate on Boston, hate on all of New England.

The ghost of Halloween past returns and Shev and Schab recount the fun of Halloween. They review their childhood costumes and how the adult “slutty” versions have destroyed their innocence. They discuss their favorite candy and question what makes a Halloween movie. Join this spooky episode recorded in the rain and pregame for Halloween coming up soon.

The age old question of fall: Apple or pumpkin? An intense this or that where Shev and Schab take different sides. With fall arriving, there are many activities that come with it; Halloween, leaf catching, flu shot getting, raking, corn mazing and apple picking. Shev and Schab really struggle to find their words and keep their concentration which is why this episode features a spontaneous game of male or female as Shev and Schab gender-fy all 50 states.
Breaking double digits, Shev and Schab escape the infirmary and investigate the results of an official personality test of Shev. Learn a bit about how Shev operates while hearing the recurring events of bad luck for Schab including a broken toe. A mosh posh of topics are covered from Madison Square Garden Virginity to frequent New Yorking. What is the future of Matter of Laugh? Find out and then you can rebut.
Schab goes on a festival rant when Dan really tries to defend the impossible that festivals suck. Shev recounts her experience at Moxie fest and challenges the definition of a fest (per usual). They discuss the weirdest festivals around the world including, but not limited to, Kanamara Matsuri festival……...look it up! Experience the shortest festival in world history and contemplate the word pudding through this episode leaving you with one question: Would you participate in the reenactment battle of the civil war with oranges?
Darren Wearmouth, co-author of Awakened, joins Shev and Schab from England to discuss his experience working with James S. Murray (a.k.a “Murr”) before shifting the conversation to the Bachelorette, sport, and karaoke. This episode contains two NEVER BEFORE SEEN (or heard) embarrassing stories about Darren that are sure to give a good laugh. Darren attempts an American accent and comes short in a geography competition against Shev and Schab. Get to know the brilliant, hysterical, genuine, and odd (not even) special first guest of Matter of Laugh, Mr. Darren Wearmouth.
Authors James Murray aka “Murr” from Impractical Jokers and Darren Wearmouth have written a thriller/horror novel and have hired Blood Manor to produce a haunted house inspired by scenes from the books as part of a book launch party. Shev and Schab take you through the experience and give their review on the Awakened Experience event while taking you through their journey to New York City. To be prepared or not to be. Shev and Schab turn on the mics with no direction and end en route on memory lane. Shev and Schab take you through a musical journey from the innocence of childhood to not so subliminal messages in adulthood. Jonas Brothers and Backstreet Boys bring nostalgia to the episode. Shev and Schab bring out their fighting side and discuss their male equivalents. They sing poorly, they barely can dance, but they know how to have a good time in Episode 5.
Does Matter of Laugh have a type? Shev and Schab realize their judging of celebrities can easily be questioned when compared to their looks and personality. Shev and Schab totally fangirl over older men and coin the term “Bronze Diggers”. Robert Downey Jr., Tom Hanks, and Anna Kendrick are put forth as discussion topics. Then Shev and Schab are given advice on how to get over their celebrity crushes, which they believe are not necessarily unattainable; do you agree?
Shev and Schab delve into why the rise in prices, other movie goers, and/or a crappy movie can ruin it for you. Dan defends why seeing terrible movies in theaters can be worth it. Also find out which Avenger we all are as Shev rants about Infinity War. (also known as the “Hope vent podcast”).
What really is a pet? This episode will question everything you think you know about you and your pets. Shev claims that children and pets are becoming harder to distinguish. Shev and Schab prove that pet twinning is a real thing. Shev challenges Schab to guess various pet noises and Schab just can’t seem to get one right, will you do any better? Dan defends a typically undesired pet in hissssss segment Defending the Impossible. Find out how you could own a pet camel and finally find out what is a Stink Sack.

Mastery of recording is what fuels Here We Izzz Entertainment's Craig Blackwell and Shelvon Turner AKA Craig and Shev. The duo is continuing on their torrid pace of releases following their EP “Power Moves”, with their new single, “Steady Hating” Ft. Cassidy and T-Rell. Hailing from Stubenville, Ohio, Craig and Shev employed Cassidy and T-Rell to create this smooth anthem but did not omit the crafty word-play to stay true to their love of classic hip hop. Their grind and work ethic is what separates them from other rappers in the game. They traveled to New York City to provide the backdrop for the video. Craig and Shev released Power Moves which, gained attention from reputable websites and blogs after the release of their video “I Don't Know About That”. Appearing on Worldstar, Thisis50 and more, led them to doing a Southern College Tour with Yo-Gotti. Craig and Shev brings that Midwest swing with true to form lyrics to creating a much needed refreshing sound for music lovers.
Today we're about how to structure your team up for success, regardless of the size and how to set up a process to work with staff and other departments. Our guest is Shev Said from King of Kings in Omaha, Nebraska.
