POPULARITY
Yesterday our local market closed slightly lower, down 0.04%, with energy and information technology down the most. On the ASX200 leaderboard, BNPL company ZIP Co (ASX:ZIP) advanced more than 16% after the company reported a 219% year-on-year increase in EBITDA of $46 million. Overnight, US equities closed in the red, with all three major benchmarks down after a significant tech sell- off and tariff concerns. The Dow Jones lost 1.7% or almost 700 points, the S&P500 closed 2.24% lower, while the tech- heavy Nasdaq closed 3.07% lower. What to watch today:The SPI futures are suggesting the Australian market will fall 0.33% at the open this morning, following the heavy sell- off on Wall Street. Keep watch of BHP Group (ASX:BHP) this morning as the mining giant is set to release its third quarter update. And in economic data, today Australia's unemployment rate data for March will be released. Looking at commodities, Crude oil is trading higher, 2.44% in the green at US$62.82 per barrel, as fresh US sanctions on Chinese importers of Iranian crude, reignited supply concerns. The price of gold reached a record high, trading up 3.25% at US$3,356.67 an ounce, as the increasing unpredictability of the US trade policy and low demand for the US dollar and Treasury securities has left gold as one of the main saf0- haven commodities. And iron ore is steady at US$100.19 a tonne. Trading Ideas:Bell Potter maintains their Buy rating on Select Harvest (ASX:SHV) after the almond grower delivered a disappointing crop update with an approximate 10% downward revision to FY25 crop expectations. Bell Potter believe it was largely offset by stronger pricing outcomes, which look likely to be a greater benefit into FY26-27. Their 12- month price target remains unchanged at $5.80, and at SHV's current share price of $4.60, this implies 26.1% share price growth in a year.Trading Central have identified a bullish signal in QBE Insurance Group (ASX:QBE) indicating that the stock price may rise from the close of $21.36.

GerhardP.S. Oorlog in Oekraïne, mogelijk oorlog in Israël. The company I was working for, we were so extremely short-term focused and we almost changed strategy every three months, we were literally throwing money out of the window, just to get customers' market share, and somehow it didn't feel right to me. I didn't have the financial understanding to really put a calculator to it, and then the company also literally almost went bankrupt at the end of the 3 years and so I said, you know somehow this cannot be right, you can't run a business with such a short-term horizon.20 YEARS IN PERSPECTIVE:Going to INSEAD, I had two clear views in my mind - I wanted to work for a family owned, or a privately held business that offered me a real international career.Altogether 9 years abroad, we came back to Holland, a family of 5, which was probably the hardest move we ever did, going back to what you thought was home.I'm still with SHV, almost twenty years, I am on my ninth or tenth job at the moment. I've worked in cash & carry retail, switched to the energy division, liquefied gas, I've been on the board of SHV, and now I am CEO of Nutreco, which is one of the global leaders in animal nutrition.ON TOPIC: Fossil fuels, energy transition, agriculture, animal nutrition, sustainabilityEnergy transition is probably one of the 2 or 3 large transitions that we are going through and that we will have to go through. We really started to drive, I would say, a twofold course towards sustainability: 1) we set the goal to become a fully sustainable, so a fully renewable provider of LPG. And the second leg is to provide other sources of energy, like solar energy.I've had my fair share of industry conferences, where there's on the one hand a group of companies that really wants to change; there's also a group of companies that are either in denial, or that they cling on to vested interests, or they see no need, or they see no opportunity. And so that brings tension, but I think it also can bring a lot of creativity“You know, we are about to launch the first totally renewable LPG in the world”This is why in-person education cannot be replicated in another formThe purpose of our company is feeding the futureAgriculture is responsible for about 25% of all emissions in the world. The system that we have today is so super-efficient, for any new technology it is really challenging at the start to beat those economies of scale. We're trying to really work on creating more sustainable solutions for current farming practices and at the same time we are investing and there I dare to say we're at the forefront of our industry. We're investing also in creating feed for lab grown meat. That is an industry that, in the next 5 to 10 years will start to grow and I think once it starts growing it will grow exponentially.Where we now provide nutrition to animals, we would then provide nutrition to cells. These cells, they need to eat, and so we provide, what we know about feeding an animal is pretty useful to feed a cell. All THINGS INSEAD AND GIVING BACKLife is about learning, earning, returning and I didn't want to wait with returning until I stopped earning.INSEAD for me has been – firstly, it was an amazing year to be together with such a great energy, I don't think I've ever seen the positive energy around me that was there during that year. People were so motivated, people were in for fun, people were in for serious things, creative ideas, the international dynamics. But it also really helped me make a jump in my career. I'm honestly convinced that I wouldn't be where I am today without INSEAD.

John and Brendan discuss the plot and themes found in the Disney + Series: "Loki". Science fiction and fantasy hijinks ensue when Loki finds himself a person of interest to the TVA (Time Variance Authority). Loki's time-travels provide opportunity for soul searching and reflection which, for SHV's two hosts, provides ample opportunity to discuss how Loki's questions might parallel those of the show's audience.Topics Include:The nature of time (and God's relationship with it)Free WillThe ways in which we receive God's giftsPurgatoryhttps://static1.squarespace.com/static/5e3ada1a6a2e8d6a131d1dcd/t/5eb070d4a628653343d6f60c/1588621525058/NCBC_Module_6_Supplemental_Principle_of_Cooperation_in_Evil.pdfPodcast Email Address: letters@shvpodcast.comPodcast Website: shvpodcast.comBrendan Lyons' Twitter: @theLyonbraryCreditsIntro/Outro Music:Composition - Epic Cinematic AdventureArtist - Jorik BasovSource - PixaBay Royalty Free Music
Celebrate Christmas with SHV at home.
Bowing to pressure from the underbelly of Reddit and Youtube, Broad Strokes' spot is taken over this week by a fringe media personality who has a very different take on Hazel Hayes and the quarantine. Tim K Rylander is convinced she's more of a part of SHV's story than we knew before. We also meet Wanda Kovacs, Hazel's former thesis advisor, who gives a TED Talk on what blonde means for the patriarchy and capitalism after the virus. By episode's end we also suspect the virus has mutated. Written by Brian J Davis & Emily Schultz, Cecilia Corrigan. Directed by Duncan Birmingham. Cast: Madeline Zima, Rob Belushi, Cecilia Corrigan, Rebecca Kush, and Carson Elrod.
Jennifer Lim hosts Broad Strokes, a podcast that is investigating the story of Hazel Hayes and SHV, also known as the Blonde Rabies. In this episode the escalation of the outbreak among blonde women, both natural and bleached, is explained, as well as the spread of misinformation in the media. We first meet Hazel through “The Hazel Tapes,” the recordings she made telling how she went from a pregnant grad student in New York to being forcefully quarantined. The show's sponsor is Glesumax, the makers of the only treatment for SHV, which calls into question the show's journalistic independence. Written by Brian J Davis and Emily Schultz. Directed by Jenny Grace. Cast: Madeline Zima, Helen Hong, Dana Berger, Jenny Grace, Carson Elrod, Bree Elrod, and Rebecca Kush.
Broad Strokes continues its history of SHV and Hazel, who, through her recordings, talks about life in a deteriorating quarantine. Her final recording ends when she's forced to rescue a friend from the much feared “Room Three.” With Hazel's fate in limbo we also meet Broad Strokes' new sponsor, the actress and wellness guru Frieda Wells, who has turned from selling questionable cures to hosting the Lux Festival in the Virgin Isles for “Blondefluencers.” Written by Brian J Davis and Emily Schultz. Directed by Brian J Davis. Cast: Madeline Zima, Helen Hong, Yvonne Zima, Dana Berger, Jenny Grace, Carson Elrod, and Bree Elrod.
Merry Christmas from SHV! Greg Thompson shares a message about the hope in the arrival of Jesus.
