In today's guest insight episode, Sujata Biswas, co-founder of a popular Indian brand, Suta shares what she does at the end of the day to stay mentally & emotionally fit. Tune into today's episode to learn her favourite hacks to be mentally & emotionally fit.
Our love for textiles and art forms and a strong will to empower very talented and deserving artisans made us quit and take a big step towards our dream. The magic of thread drew us like a magnet. Our guests on this week's Absolutely write episode are Sujata & Taniya Biswas. The sisters take pride in complementing each other's skill sets while having the same vision. Sujata says that she is the brain and Taniya confesses to being the heart. Together, the beautiful symphony of their energies plays out perfectly to become Suta. An alumnus of IIFT Delhi, Sujata always felt something was missing in her job. She was with Essar, Jindal & IIT before SUTA. Whenever she went back to visit her parents, she came across a lot of traditional weavers with whom she used to end up chatting and they used to pour their hearts out about lack of work and menial wages. Taniya, an engineer and IIM Lucknow graduate, worked for almost three years with the Tata group and IBM. She calls herself an observer and loves to watch how everything in life is so beautifully intertwined with nature and the world around us. This kindled the creative streak in her to paint and to take photographs. After quitting her cushy corporate jobs, she grappled with many ideas, even tried her hands at product photo-shoots, before realizing that her true potential was not in the pictures but in the products itself. “I had designed a few clothes and had posted them, but instead of getting requests for shoot we were asked about the products.” Together they run this organisation that supports & empowers over 16000 weavers across India. Aditi analyses their handwriting and talks about some of their some unique & opposite aspects of their personality including what makes them such different leaders and what makes them such a good solid team. Sujata & Taniya share some stories, lessons and takeaways that can be implemented starting today. Which is your favourite lesson from today's episode and why? Share in the comments section.
Today, on Voices for Local, Monisha is back with a brand that makes her favourite outfit ever - the sari. She speaks to the co-founders of Suta, Sujata and Taniya Biswas, who gave up their corporate life to pursue their passion. The sister duo tells Monisha what it was like to grow up in Odisha and West Bengal seeing women wear saris everyday, how they manage to work with around 16,000 weavers and artisans across the country, how they resolve fights between each other, and how creating a happy, inclusive and open work environment has been one of their biggest milestones. To check out Suta's work, log onto their website suta.in, and follow their journey on Instagram @suta_bombay. And to keep up with Monisha Singh Katial, follow her on Instagram @monishasinghkatial. Host and Producer: @jhansiserani Sound designer: @lalit1121992 Guest: @suta_bombay

Romans Suta – Rīgas mākslinieku grupas dzinējspēks, viens no grupas aktīvākajiem dalībniekiem tās sākumposmā.
Your mother's favourite Kanjeevaram and Banarasi saris are now back in vogue. Join us in this special Diwali episode, where we explain the economics behind the handloom sari's revival. We bring to you special ground reports from the weavers in Varanasi and Kanchipuram, and inputs from designer Gaurang Shah, textile scholars Rta Kapur Chisti and Sabita Radhakrishna and Sujata Biswas, co-founder of Suta on why sustainability and slow fashion are contributing to handloom's popularity, but challenges still lie ahead for the weaver ecosystem. Šī mākslinieku grupa aktīvi darbojās no 1920. līdz 1938. gadam.

The 2nd part on music and Samadhi: Om Swami says, that music on its own is a sadhana(meditation). Rather, if a person is doing mantra chanting or meditating and he gives the mantra a tune, then he would start to become more focused and attentive towards his mantra chanting and meditation. If you are chanting a mantra, for example, Om namah shivaya, and your mind starts to wander and think of something else, then changing the chanting speed or giving the mantra a musical lilt will make you break the thought process and focus. He says that songs are sung, but music is something that needs to be understood in its entirety, and this is done by taking in the knowledge of the subject completely and then making it more beautiful. Om Swami says that children who are given musical training from their early years are seen to live life with more awareness. They live their life in accordance with the values learnt. It's not that they don't make mistakes or don't get swayed in life. It's just that they are able to get back quicker on the tracks. A culture's values and heritage dwell in their music. This is because culture is defined by its music. Without music and without stories a culture cannot exist. If there is music and there are stories then there is a culture. He says, that the people who were addressed as suta maharaj ji, or suta rishi, were those suta's who used to go to different kings and kingdoms, singing in poetry form the sacred scriptures, to a congregation. And since these were not found written in any books, slowly, over time, the shaastras they sang came to be known as shastriya sangeet(classical music). The Suta's were so revered, that they were given the status of Rishis, as they were the ones who kept our scriptures alive. If any story is tastefully delivered, then it is etched on the minds of the people forever. Om Swami further says that if you want to know the music you will have to taste it yourself. Listen to the full discourse to understand more and get deeper insights into this topic. That is the state of Samadhi. This is my personal experience and anyone can experience it too if they are willing to work for it. Just like ripples are only formed in water and not on the ice, your state of bliss is frozen when in Samadhi. On December 6, 2020, President Nicolás Maduro consolidated his grip on power after claiming victory in Venezuela's parliamentary election — an election that was denounced by electoral observers and boycotted by opposition parties. The question now is who has political legitimacy? The Maduro regime or the opposition? In the last episode of season 2, Suta Kavari introduces our new host Sruthi Palaniappan as they take a look at the crisis in Venezuela. They speak with David Smolansky, one of the leaders of the Popular Will Party and the former mayor of El Hatillo in Caracas, Venezuela, to illuminate the political front of the crisis. To uncover the everyday realities of Venezuelans and the impact the humanitarian emergency in Venezuela has had on neighboring countries, Suta and Sruthi are joined by two Oxford MPP students, Samuel Diaz from Venezuela and Manuel Azuero from Colombia.

At the stroke of midnight on Friday, 31 January 2020, Brussels time, the United Kingdom formally left from the European Union. Setting in motion a frantic 11-month transition period in which to negotiate everything from a trade deal to new rules on travel. Long anticipated and highly contested, “Brexit” has captured the mind and imagination of not only British politics, but society for the last four years. With Brexit semi-delivered, the Prime Minister Boris Johnson must now chart new waters and carve out a new role for Britain in the highly uncertain global political economy. On this episode of A Look at the Issues, our host, Suta Kavari, was in Brussels talking to members of the public and Members of the European Parliament about what a post-Brexit future looks like for the European continent. Suta spoke to Svenja Hahn, German MEP for Free Democratic Party, and a member of the Renew Europe alliance. Back in Oxford, Suta spoke to Calum Miller about the broader implications of Brexit for the UK and hopes for the future. Calum was the former Principal Private Secretary to former Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg, and now serves as the Chief Operating Officer at the Blavatnik School of Government.

Adi Suta was one of my first clients when I started my behavior change coaching program back in the day. We worked on his nail-biting habit, and that quickly evolved into a friendship that still sings today. He is one of the primary forces that got me to really pick up meditation as a habit, and he will be the reason I go to my first meditation retreat. We get into relationships, meditation, and psychedelics.
