On April 29th, 2004, at 17 years old, Mary-Kate and Ashley received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. And on February 14th, 2024, two thirty-somethings, Lani and Becca, finally visited it.Since Lani and Becca both live in Los Angeles and had somehow never gone to see the Olsen's star, we decided there was no better time than now for our podcast's first field trip. Located on 6801 Hollywood Boulevard, their star is in the primest of prime locations, on the same block as the TCL Chinese Theater and among megastars-- we could not have been prouder when we finally found it.When we get back to our studio, we unpack the physical and emotional journey we just embarked on.  We also discuss what the Hollywood Walk of Fame even is and why (and if) it matters to us and pop culture at large. And most importantly, we talk about what Mary-Kate and Ashley getting this star meant to us back in 2004, what we remember, and how we feel about it now.You can watch the video version of this ep and get more bonus content by subscribing to our Patreon here.Find us on Social Media!Instagram: @theythoughtiwasyouTikTok: @theythoughtiwasyouBecca: @beccarothLani: @laniharmsDo you have more information about the Hollywood Walk of Fame? "Tip Toe Through the Tulips with Me"........... Parker "Marilyn" Crane, also known as The Bride in Black, is the secondary antagonist of the Insidious franchise. He is a man who, in life, became a serial killer after suffering years of psychological abuse at the hands of his mother, and later became a parasitic ghost bent on killing and possessing Josh Lambert. What a great interview with Mr. Fitzpatrick! He went into clear details on how he was chosen for the role of The Black Bride, and I find it amazing. The casting director could not have chosen a better person for the role, Tom definitely nailed it (no pun intended). What do we know about the movie franchise and the character? You're going to have to watch the video to understand how it all began for Tom and how his talent has landed him to be one of the most iconic figures in the horror community and genre. From horror conventions to making it to the big time at the TCL Chinese Theater in Hollywood, this most extraordinary gentleman is unstoppable! Or maybe, just maybe, he wants to live! Also, from what he had said in the interview, there is a website solely dedicated to The Black Bride: https://insidiousparker.carrd.co/#about and there is a YouTube video as well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nt1kcsFu-bs Be sure to check out Tom Fitzpatrick online to see what he may become or what he will do in the future! --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/southjerseyhorror/message

Set in an alternate timeline where the US and USSR exchanged nuclear attacks in 1986, this fantasy-drama features a cast of 1980s icons (Anthony Michael Hall, Lisa Whelchel, Dee Wallace, Reginald VelJohnson, and Sam Jones) alongside three commanding newcomers in a story that evokes the emotional richness of “Terms of Endearment” alongside the haunting suspense of “Close Encounters of the Third Kind.” Roswell Delirium will be screening at the Golden Gate Film Festival on February 24th at 4pm at the TCL Chinese Theater 6. Graham Greene and Aaron Wolf and Face2Face host David Peck talk about the new perfectly timed Halloween release Tar, the La Brea Tar Pits, real stories and real acting, monsters and kernels of truth that can be found in every story.TrailerThe film is now available on Digital and On Demand.Synopsis:Tar is a new thriller about a family business that is forced to shut down and move as the cities subway is expanding under their feet and the office building is slated for demolition. However, something primal is awoken by the underground construction, and a night of sombre packing becomes a desperate fight for survival! The 1091 Picture new film Tar, written and directed by Canadian Aaron Wolf, starring Timothy Bottoms (Golden Globe Nominee), Graham Greene (Academy Award Nominee) Tiffany Shepis and Max Perlich. Here’s a special message from Aaron:“As a Canadian, with my family being from Toronto, every time I get to bring a film home to my Motherland, it feels extra special. Summers in Toronto were a childhood happy place to me. As a kid, whenever I’d made a film or acted in something, the whole family would gather around my Grandparents TV and watch my stuff, the good, the not so good, and the ridiculous - lots of ridiculous. Now to be able to bring another film to Canada, this time getting to co-star with two fellow Canadians in Oscar Nominee Graham Greene,as well as Stuart Stone, it feels we are giving a movie set in Los Angeles, it’s Canadian blood, and once you see the film, a bit of mine. And most of all, getting to release the film in Canada makes me hope my Grandparents are looking down, from wherever they are, smiling.”About Graham and Aaron:Graham Greene was born in Brantford, Ontario, this Oneida Indian never thought about the acting profession during his youth. While working as an audio technician for a Canadian rock band, one of his co-workers encouraged him to try out the art. Greene was indifferent to the idea, until losing a game of cards to which he put his future career on the line.He attended The Centre for Indigenous Theatre's Native Theatre School program to try out his acting chops. After graduating in 1974, he started landing small roles in television, film and radio. He then crossed the pond to work on the London stage for a few years.Greene returned to Canada in the mid-1980s where he picked up his first major feature film credit, the historical epic, Revolution, opposite Al Pacino. Five years later, he landed the role of Kicking Bird in Kevin Costner’s Dances with Wolves. The part not only provided him with major exposure around the world, it garnered him an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor. With the door to the acting worldwide open, Greene took advantage taking major roles in films like Thunderheart, Maverick, Die Hard: With a Vengeance, Camille, and The Green Mile.Greene has also made a significant contribution to the small screen with regular gigs on the series The Red Green Show, Northern Exposure, Lonesome Dove: The Series, The Adventures of Dudley the Dragon, Wolf Lake and narrating the Discovery Channel's Exhibit A series. In 1992, he was honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Southwest Museum in Los Angeles, one of the nation's pre-eminent museums dedicated to the culture of Native Americans. In 2002, he won the Best Actor Award for his role in Skins at the Tokyo International Film Festival. In his native Canada, he has been nominated three times for Gemini awards and in 2004 he was honoured with the Gemini's Earle Grey Award.(With thanks to tribute.ca)Aaron Wolf is an American actor, writer and director best known for the feature documentary Restoring Tomorrow. He is the co-founder and President of Howling Wolf Productions based in Los Angeles, CA.Wolf attended New York University. He expanded his acting and improv education later while studying with The Groundlings. In 2012, Wolf wrote the film Guest House starring Michael Gross, Heather Lind and Mark Gessner. The film is based around real events in Wolf's life, and premiered at the historic TCL Chinese Theater for the HollyShorts Film Festival. In 2014, Wolf's production company, Howling Wolf Productions, produced The Quitter, an indie drama about a former baseball player who attempts to rebuild his relationship with his daughter. And speaking of conspiracies, in “Cannonball Ron,” the action-packed Part Six of “Airport Insecurity,” Oddzo and Bhashkur the Louse conspire to shoot the long-suffering Ron McAdams out of a canon, while our heroes Mike and Mary plot to give Puppet Goon Muscles the slip, and the gaslighting Big Ass Canary the what for! All this, and a mutant sloth who spent Labor Day in a darkened room slugging down scotch from a jelly jar and turning the pages of his wedding album from his failed first marriage, on this week's Damn Dirty Drive-In Podcast! “Cannonball Ron” starring: Frank Dietz, Liane Dietz, Ron McAdams, Robb Maynard, Rico Anderson, Greg Tally, Deana Dolphin, and Ryan Smith.

The TCL Chinese Theater originally opened its doors in 1927, and the grand opening is known for hosting the most thrilling theater opening in motion picture history. The theater has always been one of Hollywood’s biggest attractions on the Walk of Fame, and thanks to a permanent projection mapping project dubbed “Hollywood Lights,” which launched on the theater’s 90th anniversary, the historic L.A. landmark is finding new audiences after nightfall. At sundown, four-minute shows begin in celebration of Hollywood's most iconic films and continue through the night every 20 minutes.  Christie Digital, a leader in delivering visual and audio experiences, was selected to develop this digital media project along with the TCL Chinese Theater. Jan Miller, Christie’s Senior Experience Designer, joins us to reveal the digital signage story behind “Hollywood Lights,” which won a Silver APEX Award this year at Digital Signage Expo. For more case study information about this incredible project, click here. Dances with Films Festival 201 is celebrating it's 20th Anniversary. This "fiercely independent" film festival runs from June 1st-11th at the TCL Chinese Theater in Hollywood. The co-founders, Michael Trent & Leslee Scallon are thrilled to still be supporting independent filmmakers, along with video directors and kid filmmakers. Michael and Leslee join host Janeane Bernstein at 9:45am pst June 5th! The unstoppable festival, for two decades a champion of independent filmmakers, takes over the TCL Chinese Theaters June 1-11 with 74 world premieres, 36 west coast premieres, and opening and closing night films from DWF alumni. The event also includes a Dances with Kidz event, too! Sat. (June 10) is Dances with Kidz, films for kids, by kids! LOS ANGELES, CA (May 10, 2017) – The fiercely independent film festival Dances With Films (DWF) announced today its 2017 lineup of narrative and documentary features and short films for its 20th annual edition. Opening the festival on June 1 are two alumni projects: filmmaker David Heinz’s modern musical, AMERICAN FOLK in its Los Angeles debut and the world premiere of Tamar Halpern’s intellectual thriller, MISSING IN EUROPE. Another DWF alumni project, AUSTIN FOUND, by director Will Raée, closes the festival with its world premiere on June 11. Tickets and passes will be available for sale on Friday, May 12 at http://www.tclchinesetheatres.com/ or thru the festival's own site: https://danceswithfilms.com. The festival, proving itself to be unstoppable after 20 consecutive years, is widely recognized as the premiere showcase of innovative independent cinema in the U.S., presenting amazing, undiscovered talent to an industry audience in Hollywood. DWF will run June 1-11, 2017 in Los Angeles, CA at the TCL Chinese Theaters, located at: Hollywood & Highland, 6801 Hollywood Blvd, Hollywood, CA 90028. “We consider ourselves a true festival of discovery,” said festival co-founders Michael Trent and Leslee Scallon. “Our aim is to showcase films that have unique voices from the indie scene, stories that bring a touch of magic to the screen. We have discovered a great many of them over these last two decades, so we are excited to present this year's slate of knock-out talent.” The final lineup features more than 160 titles, chosen from a record 2,100 submissions from all over the globe. The juried narrative competition section includes 16 features, 13 of which are world premieres, and nearly three-dozen shorts. DWF also has a category for groundbreaking short and feature documentaries, provocative genre fare in the Midnight section, and the most exciting music videos and dance-themed films from the indie scene in the Downbeats section. The Fusion section brings together a multitude of additional features and shorts. Notable Dances With Films alumni who first gained notice at the festival include: Gina Rodriguez, Bryan Cranston, Will Scheffer, Mark V. Olsen, Jesse Eisenberg, Mike Flanagan, and John Hawkes, among others. About Dances With Films In 1998 DWF began as a film festival dedicated to finding tomorrow’s talent today and continues to carry on this mission today. With many World and West Coast Premieres, DWF provides a coveted first stop on the festival circuit. With a vast number of submissions, the selection process is based solely on merit and discoverability. DWF continues its dedication to and is a devoted champion of fresh and creative voices, mandating that all competitive films have no known actors, writers, directors, or producers. For the past 20 years, DWF has proudly provided access and opportunity to thousands of films and filmmakers from across the globe that diligently work year after year to see their dreams realized. With more than 12,000+ festival attendees and 2.5 million impressions per month on www.danceswithfilms.com, DWF is loyal and dedicated to the indie filmmaker and is considered their champion in Hollywood. DWF’s Advisory Board includes: Steve Tisch, Cindy Cowan, Jonathan Dana, Steve Elzer, Kevin Kasha, Eriq La Salle, Michael Lehmann, Mike Macari, Valerie McCaffrey, Mark V. Olsen, Joel Ordesky, Mark Ordesky, Melissa Orlen, Will Scheffer, Hilton Smith, David Spiegelman, and Steve Wegner.
