-This is not done by any immediate revelation or impulse, or merely by any text brought to the mind -for all these things are equivocal and delusory-- but by coinciding with the testimony of their own consciences as to their uprightness in embracing the gospel and giving themselves up to the service of God. So that, whilst they are examining themselves concerning the reality of their conversion, and find Scriptural evidence of it, the Holy Spirit from time to time shines upon His own work, excites their holy affections into lively exercise, renders them very efficacious upon their conduct, and thus puts the matter beyond all doubt- -Thomas Scott-.

Wow, we're so lucky. Today on PPM, we're joined by Laihall, who is running point on this charge into the windswept Manitoban past, as we unpack the equal parts remarkable, tragic, & hopeful history of the visionary poet & indigenous resistance leader Louis Riel, organizer of the Red River Rebellion & a primary player in the North West Rebellion after it. In this first part, we lay some of the necessary groundwork in preparation for weaving this multi-decade saga of righteous armed resistance against Anglo-Canadian settler colonialism. We discuss the forces of capitalist extraction; the paramilitaries such as the Orange Order that have so often served as the imperial pawns on the frontier, linking the power structure of the colonial system; the secret societies such as freemasonry which are a hierarchically a step above & which manipulate groups like the Orangemen as their farm leagues or feeder schools... To synopsize, we learn about Métis culture & life ways; Laihall teaches us about the ethnogenerative process that gave rise to the rich & wholly unique Métis ethnicity & culture, formed from the unions of Cree, Ojibwe, & Algonquian women and French, Anglo, & Scottish fur traders; we talk French voyageurs; we learn about how Métis men frequently contracted with the Hudson's Bay Company or American competitors as fur trappers, connecting this investigation to our "Fur Connection" series; we learn how Louis Riel, Sr. opposed the HBC's monopoly in Rupert's Land—or to be even more accurate, that he brought about the monopoly's death knells through his savvy organizing & legal advocacy, an economic history that prefigures his son's rebellious organizing; we learn about Louis's early life; his vast family; some of Laihall's Métis lineage & his unique vantage point into this saga; we talk about Louis Riel the volcel seminarian; we begin to assemble the array of adversarial forces that would attempt to quash the Métis self-determination (and, if need be, annexation to America) movement; this brings into view some of our primary villains, such as Canada's first prime minister John MacDonald, who facilitated the purchase of Rupert's Land (what would become the Northwest Territory) from the HBC & who set in motion the involuntary surveys of Métis land that served as a flashpoint; we introduce John Christian Schultz, the founder of the Canada First movement & party, who sought to create a Nazi-esque, Anglo majority, frostbitten nation on the high plains and who founded the very first Masonic lodge in the NW; we talk about his crony, Thomas Scott, the Ichabod Crane looking m'fer & Orangeman (meaning a member of the Protestant & Northern Irish paramilitary that served as a cudgel for British imperialism); and we conclude Pt. I of our Riel narrative w/ the surveyors who have been sent to annex & prepare the way for the displacement of Métis peoples on behalf of their Anglo-Canadian overlords getting run off... And then, before we sign off, we enjoy a brief coda where we tie in Laihall's Qs & Clues prompt and pose a challenge to all ParaPower Mappers who will heed the call: to aid us in a mapping of the sus Surrealist networks that included figures like Andre Breton & various Canadian "Indian agents" who misappropriated sacred Coast Salish regalia intended for potlatch ceremonies. This leads us to an extended riff on "Gollum Klonny" & the dangers of parapolitical "nugget" covetousness. The 2008-2009 Prince George's County, Maryland Home Invasion Burglary, Sexual Assault And Murder Crime Wave [Vacation Series]In 2008 and 2009 Federal ATF Agents in Maryland were investigating a stolen weapons ring. When their prime suspects - Jason Thomas Scott and Marcus Hunter - were arrested in an undercover weapons sting, they couldn't help but notice their suspects were in close geographic proximity to each other, to the weapons crimes, and to this rash of home invasions. In episode three of our One Great 150 series, we cover the Red River Resistance by following the path of Elzéar Goulet, a mail carrier who became a leader in Louis Riel's Métis armed forces and, ultimately, was one of six men who decided the fate of Thomas Scott. Though Goulet was a player in many of the key moments of the resistance, the most lasting impact of his story may have been the tragedies that followed in the wake of his death. This week we're talking Personal Branding in Franchising. Why is it critical? How can our personal traits break down some walls with our professional contacts? How can we stop holding ourselves back from sharing something real about ourselves? In the influencer age, it's not your elevator pitch, but the content stream that matters. And, who has a great personal brand? We're naming names! Today's Rock Star panel: Emily George of Franchise Business Review, Danessa Itaya of Bio-One, Ingrid Schneider of Stay In Your Lane, and Thomas Scott of Home Run Franchises. Since COVID, our society has shifted to a remote work mentality. Downtown offices are empty, commercial space has flooded the market and the typical job for a college grad has a remote work component. Gen Z and young millennial workers have embraced this, saying this evolution is not only needed - it is liberating. Why spend your entire day chained to a desk when you could enjoy working from coffee houses, home offices or wherever? 8 hour days are exhausting when some workers are able to break up their workload over a more manageable time.It seems to be a win-win for everyone. But is it?What if in 5-10 years an entire generation of workers wake up and realize they are no longer valuable and don't have real seniority - that their employers can easily replace them with younger, less expensive workers. Here's the deal - when you work remote you simply miss out on years of professional development. You don't get the collaborative experience so valuable from working literally alongside older, more experienced workers. A slack isn't a replacement for 5 days and hundreds of interactions with colleagues. In this podcast, I talk about how franchise ownership - the ultimate remote work gig - has a nifty solution for replacing this missing professional development for young workers.See if you agree!Thomas Scott - tscott@homerunfranchises.com

Evils before unnoticed are now perceived to mingle with his services- for his self-knowledge is advanced- his remedy seems to increase his disease- he suspects that all his former joy was a delusion, and is ready to conclude, that 'God hath forgotten to be gracious, and has shut up his loving-kindness in displeasure.' These experiences, sufficiently painful in themselves, are often rendered more distressing, by erroneous expectations of uninterrupted comfort, or by reading books, or hearkening to instructions, which state things unscripturally- representing comfort as the evidence of acceptance, assurance as the essence of faith, impressions or visions as the witness of the Spirit- or perfection as attainable in this life, nay, actually attained by all the regenerate- as if this were the church triumphant, and not the church militant.

Have you heard about conversational marketing? This new lead generation strategy is boldly different than what the franchise industry typically uses to generate franchise leads. Conversational marketing pair very specific, relative ads with a Facebook messenger connection and forgoes forms, phone numbers and website links. Prospects ask questions using a real one-to-one connection and a real recruiter or trained lead screen answers the message in real time. This provides quick and authentic answers to questions and create a safe place to have a conversation without getting hounded. It is at the prospects' peak emotional point so the results are much higher than typical. We're seeing a 500% increase in sales activity with a 100% contact rate which makes for a much more efficient sales process.Listen in as Thomas Scott, founder of Brand Journalists and CEO of Home Run Franchises talks with Kayla Ryan, former CMO of Home Based Franchise Group and owner of Flick Switch Marketing as they discuss the detail of this exciting new franchise marketing trend.

Thomas Scott joins Jordan Daly and NBA vets Craig Smith and Mike Taylor for Episode 15 of the Underdogs Podcast. Hear the story of how the son of 3x NBA Champion Byron Scott created his own role in basketball. After starting in the media room as a video coordinator for the New Orleans Hornets in 2006, Thomas Scott discovered his true career path in the NBA. Soon after his time as a video coordinator, Thomas Scott became a coach's apprentice, and shortly after became a player development coach with the Cleveland Cavaliers. By 2011, Thomas became the lead assistant coach for the G-League's Leagues Canton Charge in their inaugural season. This is where he truly learned all that goes on behind the scenes of a professional basketball organization. When 2014 came around, Thomas accepted a position as an assistant coach of his hometown team, the Los Angeles Lakers. Shortly after, Ice Cube decided to create a 3-on-3 basketball league, later named the BIG3, in which Cube personally hired Thomas as the Director of Basketball Operations. This past year, Thomas was also hired as an assistant coach for the new and exciting G-League Ignite team - the team that is meant for future NBA stars.
