Welcome Mamas, to our next MATRESCENCE MOMENTS RETROSPECTIVE EPISODE.Dr Vanessa Lapointe has an interesting take on the purpose of parenting. Sure, having children is about expanding your family and experiencing unconditional love, but at the core of it, she believes that parenting is here to challenge us - to challenge us to grow, to look at our old belief patterns, and to push us to expand and grow. Looking back, it's obvious that's what parenting is all about. We have a false belief that becoming a mama will be the happiest time in our lives - and hard truth: it's actually one of the least happiest. At least, that's what the research Dr Lapointe shares in this podcast says. However, despite the struggles and challenges, the same research also shows us that it is the most fulfilling time of our lives. So how do we navigate all the deep challenges of raising another human being? In this inspiring episode, Dr Lapointe walks us through an understanding of how our brains work, and how we can be kind towards ourselves as we grow along side our children. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------FIND MORE FROM VANESSA HERE:https://www.instagram.com/dr.vanessalapointe/https://www.facebook.com/drvanessalapointe/https://twitter.com/DrVlapointe-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------Please visit my website: https://www.amytaylorkabbaz.com and: https://mamarising.net/ to submit questions for Mama Q, our new Q&A podcast session, where we answer your questions regarding Matrescence and motherhood.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------WOULD YOU LIKE TO KNOW...-How motherhood changes your core identity-What the 'Inner Split' is, and how to come to terms with this change within you-How to stop being torn between all the roles you have to play-How to see yourself, your body, and all your relationships differently-How to stop being so hard on yourself and, in turn, stop being so resentful towards your loved onesThen register for a set of live coaching calls with me, Amy Taylor Kabbaz.HAVE THE UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY TO JOIN AMY AND HUNDREDS OF OTHERS TO ASK QUESTIONS, LISTEN, HEAL AND RISE TOGETHER.CLICK the LINK to find out more:https://www.amytaylorkabbaz.com/tboy/-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Within these conversations, we change the way mothers are valued and seen in our society and spread the whispers of Matrescence together.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------[Time Stamps][00:00] - Acknowledgements[00:40] - Intro[02:04] - The REal Purpose of Parenting[04:22] - The Inner-Me-Mama[05:44] - Consciousness is Central[06:47] - The Iceberg[08:13] - Springing Through the Flowers[09:28] - A Little Naivete[09:44] - The Magic Wand[11:55] - We Choose Every Feeling[12:58] - The Holocaust in Her[14:07] - Outro

Do your kids ever make you want to pull your hair out with their wacky antics? Do you stress out when your children do unsafe things due to their self-perception of invincibility? Maybe most importantly, do you worry that you have no idea how to parent your “invincible” kids? Well, this episode is for you, because the things I'm gonna lay down are going to allow you to take so much pressure off your shoulders about doing the right thing when it comes to parenting. We put so much pressure on ourselves to parent “the right way” — whatever that means! HA! I have to constantly remind myself that I'm not as big and powerful as my ego wants me to think that I am, especially when raising kids. Continuing what we talked about last week in episode 155, I'm going to talk about that theme. We aren't powerful enough to mess up whatever destiny holds in store for our kids. We can lay groundwork for their success, and we can do everything “right” according to our limited vision, and they will still do some things (or maybe many things) very differently from what we imagined for them. Kids do wonky stuff! I know I did, and we're going to share our crazy wonky “I was the invincible kid” stories I asked you for on Facebook. But remember, when your kids are doing wonky stuff, that you did equally crazy things. This is a growth experience. That is part of their soul contract, agreed upon between them and God, or the Universe, however you look at it, before they were born. On the other side of the coin, we're not powerful enough that we can make what our children do mean something about us, try as we might to externalize our value and worthiness to them. All that does is make YOU upset. A child's wrongdoing or right-doing does not affect your worthiness or enough-ness for good or ill, so stop making “how your children behave” a criterion for feeling worthy or fulfilled. Dr. Vanessa Lapointe has some valuable tips about this, and the link to that video (https://fb.watch/dgRDqUolZS/) will be on my blog and in my newsletter. As you practice having grace and compassion for your kids through their “invincibility” learning experiences, giving them an abundance of love and affection, and allowing them to be what their destiny intends for them to be, I promise you will see good things in your life! For this episode we speak to child psychologist Dr. Vanessa LaPointe. Vanessa is the author of two books, including her latest Parenting Right From the Start: Laying a Healthy Foundation in the Baby and Toddler Years. But this episode is not about the baby and toddler years. It's about the investigation into ourselves that Dr. LaPointe argues is so necessary in order to parent the way we want to. She explains how we can work through issues from the past that inevitably have an effect on how we respond to the challenges and demands of raising our own kids. Show Notes Love our work? Motivating Employees (0:00:00) Whether you're the president of a large company or leading a small team of coworkers, it can be a huge struggle to motivate the people that you're working with. But studies show that money isn't enough to get people motivated to work. So what is? We're joined by Laura Prisc, a leadership coach and the author of “Conscious Leadership: Are Your Leaders Wide Awake?” to find out what we can do better.   Starting a Podcast (0:15:16) People love podcasts; they're convenient and entertaining. Wefind it fascinating that we can expand our minds while we're driving, exercising, and even cleaning. Maybe from all the podcasts you've listened to, you've started thinking you really want to give it a whirl behind the mic yourself! It can't be that hard, right? With technology these days, pretty much anyone can start their own podcast, but the question is, where do you begin? Monica Packer, host of About Progress, knows exactly how to start a podcast and loves helping others go from a show idea to a full-blown podcast. She joins us today to give her best podcasting tips for beginners.   Letting Go of Grudges (0:35:18) Is there a grudge you're holding onto, an offense made against you long ago, that you can remember with impeccable clarity? You know, that one girl who dumped pudding on your head in the school lunchroom or that guy who insulted your favorite pair of sneakers? We've all held grudges at one time or another. But, these grudges could actually be harming our health. Dr. Frederic Luskin is the founder and director of the Stanford Forgiveness Projects. He joins us today to talk about how to let go of our grudges and the freedom and health benefits that forgiveness brings.   Marrying the Right Person (0:50:38) No one wants to be single forever—right? Isn't it the hope of everyone to find true love? But while this is the hope, happily ever after doesn't always follow the marriage party. It happens every day—people marry the wrong person. So before getting down on one knee, what are some things we should be considering? How can we know if we're going to marry the right person? Here to share his perspective on the subject is couple's therapist Dr. Gary Brown.   Writers Get Noticed (1:05:26) What is the best way to get your stories out into the world? Publishing books can be difficult, and promoting those books can be even harder. There are more books than ever before in the world and the competition is getting fiercer and fiercer, so how can you get noticed or even make a mark in a world swimming with writers? Today we are going to talk about how writers can unlock the skills they need to draw readers. We have motivational coach and veteran writer Colleen Story, author of “Writer Get Noticed!” to talk with us.   Mindful Parenting (1:20:36) Growing up, you probably thought your parents knew everything about raising children. But little did you know, even they had to learnover time. Raising children is a lifelong process so wouldn't it be great if you could start off on the right track? Dr. Vanessa Lapointe is a psychologist and the author of "PARENTING RIGHT FROM THE START: Laying a Healthy Foundation in the Baby and Toddler Years." She's with us to tell us how being conscious and mindful parents can influence our children's growth early on.
