We all want to feel positive about our bodies. But one of the biggest killers of body positivity is that feeling you get when you try on a cute outfit, look in the mirror, and the outfit doesn't look so cute anymore. Then you wonder if it's the outfit that's the problem, or your body… Today's guest Jessica Gitney wants every woman to know that her body is beautiful no matter what size and shape. Jessica is the founder of BeVersa, an ethical women's fashion brand that makes eye-pleasing pieces for women of all sizes. Her clothes are designed to look good on every body, unlike other brands that cater to one body type.  I had such a fun conversation with Jessica and I can't wait for you to hear it! Here's what we talked about: (8:43) Jessica's favorite current, comfortable fashion trends for the post-COVID lifestyle (15:44) How to get over impostor syndrome and gain confidence when starting your business (it's all about telling your story) (20:34) “People told me for two years I was crazy to do this.” What it was like for Jessica to start her business as the pandemic turned the world upside-down (22:14) “Becoming a size-inclusive brand isn't easy.” Jessica talks about the methods she uses to make sure her clothes are functional and stylish for every woman, especially plus-size women (27:34) Jessica calls out the fast fashion industry and explains why buying the cheapest clothes isn't always the best solution (29:28) Jessica's market research process: How she made her biz successful by talking to people and learning what they really wanted If you're tired of trying hard to find clothes that fit, and you wish you had a different body, be confident in the body you have. That's Jessica's message. And when you hear what she has to say, you'll start to feel more comfortable in your own skin. Lisa had to deal with the stress of being a nurse as well as a cancer scare and debilitating injury. But if there's one thing you can learn from my discussion with Lisa, it's that there are ways to find joy even in the toughest of times. It starts with nurturing yourself and staying grounded in the present moment.   Lisa had many insights to share in this episode: (3:46) “All my identities were getting peeled away” – Lisa's story of working as a nurse as the pandemic started and suffering from her own health issues (6:10) Lisa's tips for how to break free from feelings of overwhelm (7:25) How busy people can embrace self-nurture by combining it with everyday habits (14:26) What to do when your stressed-out brain is stuck in fight-or-flight mode (20:40) Lisa's ideas for what companies in the healthcare space should do in order to promote employee wellness (30:29) The inspiring lesson Lisa learned from her children that helped her get through her darkest time  (36:34) As a hospice nurse, Lisa explains how to express grief in a healthy way instead of letting it turn into anger If you're overwhelmed by your job or by life in general, checking in with yourself and acknowledging your feelings is a good place to start. You'll understand after listening to this conversation. In this episode, Molly talks about the harmful effects of diet culture and comparing yourself to others. There are so many gems in this amazing conversation about self-love.
