What's Up, Runners! Welp, after five incredible years filled with amazing guests, enlightening conversations, and more fun than we ever thought we'd have, we've decided to sunset The BibRave Podcast. Today's episode is #260 and the Grand Finale! We originally created the show as a way for BibRave to contribute to the larger conversation around running, hoping to find and connect with new people, stories, and movements. After 260 episodes we feel so blessed to check every one of those boxes several times over. We've chatted with some of the biggest names in running, helped elevate stories that were under-represented or under-appreciated, and we've learned so much from all of our guests and listeners. Tim, Jess, and all of the rotating cast of characters are so grateful for the time you've spent with us in your ears, and we're going to miss chatting you up through all those miles. Why are we ending the show? Well, that's what Episode 260 is all about. Tim and Jess talk about the larger business demands at BibRave, and how it's truly incumbent upon us to evolve and focus on our growing business needs. As the saying goes, “We can do anything we want, we just can't do everything we want.” Thank you again for being a loyal listener and supporter of The BibRave Podcast. We are so, so appreciative of all the time you've given us over the years, and we'll miss you all. Until we meet again IRL! What's Up, Runners! Here's the latest episode of The BibRave Podcast, featuring long-time guest and our leading source for improved mental health, Dr. Justin Ross! Dr. Ross is a clinical psychologist specializing in health and wellness psychology, human performance, and sport psychology. He's a regular on The BibRave Podcast and has been the star of some of our favorite episodes. Today, Tim and Jess talk with Dr. Ross about Pandemic Flux Syndrome - the phenomenon we're all experiencing the features starkly different sets and ranges and types of feelings — dulled emotions followed by anxiety and depressive spikes, the need to drastically change something about our lives, basically a teeter-totter of emotions. Dr. Ross helps us define and control the negative elements of Pandemic Flux Syndrome, providing interesting points of reflection and action items to take control of our minds and emotions. This episode is sponsored by and features a really cool interview with the Founder of MANTRA Labs, Paul Janowitz. MANTRA Labs is a Texas-based nutrition brand with a social mission to improve mental health resources. MANTRA Labs hydrates better with an industry-leading 1,200+ mg of 6 electrolytes (natural oceanic electrolytes, marine minerals and vitamins) but NO sugar and nothing artificial. Listen to the end to hear Jess chat with Paul about MANTRA Labs as a company and sports supplement brand. As Jess and Tim discuss in the intro, MANTRA Labs has some pretty powerful options in their nutritional arsenal, so definitely check them out for your hydration, sleep, or energy needs!
What's Up, Runners! We're stoked to bring you the latest episode of The BibRave Podcast, featuring Knockaround Founder, Adam “Ace” Moyer! In a How I Built This-styled episode, Tim chats with Ace and Liam Norman (leading voice of the brand) about the company's founding over 15 years ago and what makes the brand tick. It's a delightful convo featuring two really thoughtful but laid-back guys who are clearly working exactly where they should be. Founded in 2005 when Ace was studying visual arts at UC-San Diego, Knockaround started from humble yet inspiring beginnings, eventually becoming a multi-million dollar lifestyle brand and business. If you're into start-up success stories or just learning more about how a brand grows and lives and breathes, you'll love this episode.
What's Up, Runners! For this week's episode of The BibRave Podcast, we're bringing back our resident dietician and badass runner extraordinaire, Katie Hynes!! Tim, Jess, and Katie talk about a lot of diet-related issues, but they really focus on vegan and vegetarian diets. There are a lot of misconceptions about each, both positive and negative, and the three talk through the nuances of how each diet can work for runners. And for all the omnivores out there (like Tim & Jess), there's a lot of great overall nutrition advice too! They discuss why Katie had been vegan for so long but is now “flexitarian,” where most vegans and vegetarians get their protein, and the importance of complete proteins, specific protein powders, leucine, and other key nutrients. What's Up, Runners! We have such a fun and interesting episode of The BibRave Podcast that we decided to give it to you early! Tim and Jess are talking with Jay Holder, recently back from the Tokyo Olympics where he worked as Deputy Venue Media Manager for the Olympic Stadium. In this episode, Jay gives us the inside scoop on what can only be called the weirdest Olympics ever! Jay's duties in Tokyo covered everything from building out press operations (for all Athletics competition as well as Opening/Closing Ceremonies), coordinating press seats for each Athletics competition, moderating all post-competition medal press conferences, and so much more! Jay also works as Marketing and Communications Director for the Atlanta Track Club, so his experience and skills were perfectly suited to support the Olympics in a COVID world. Jay's high-level role in coordinating media and athlete interviews throughout the Tokyo Olympics gave him the perfect access to all of the best “behind the scenes” stories. He was in Tokyo for 9 weeks total, the first 16 days of which were under an extremely strict quarantine. Jay did an amazing job sharing his experience in real time via his Instagram account, and we're thrilled that he was able to chat with us to share more details! If you love the Olympics, you are definitely going to want to give this one a listen! This week's episode is sponsored by Athletic Brewing - your new fav non-alcoholic beer! What's Up, Runners! Big episode of The BibRave Podcast for you this week as we roll into coverage of the Tokyo Olympic Marathon. The women and men race next Saturday and Sunday respectively, so we brought on baller-Olympian, Jared Ward, for some insight and analysis! As a quick refresher, Jared represented Team USA at the Rio Olympics in 2016. He absolutely crushed it on race day and finished 6th - a spectacular showing and an amazing moment in his career! Tim and Jared talk about Tokyo, what runners can expect from being at the Olympics, how the Olympics differ from a Major Marathon, the weather in Sapporo, the field and whom to watch, the course, and more! We're so excited to welcome Dean Karnazes to this episode of The BibRave Podcast! Dean is someone we've known about for a long time but have only recently gotten to know. In short, this man is a fountain of youth (which we discuss) and his latest book has so much to offer ALL types of runners or athletes. Dean's newest book, A Runner's High isn't a book about Dean's long-distance running exploits (of which there are MANY), nor is it a book promoting distance running. But it is about the struggle of aging as our minds and bodies come into conflict, and we talk a lot about these kinds of conflicts (especially where biological age and chronological age divert). Dean is an amazing guy with so many great stories, and he's truly one of the best ambassadors for our sport. We hope you check out A Runner's High and that you enjoy this episode! We're stoked to bring you another episode of The BibRave Podcast! Today we're welcoming back Dr. David Harmon (aka Cholesterol Dave from past episodes) to talk all about Vitamin D! Dr. Dave gives Tim & Jess the scoop on this essential micronutrient, including the history of Vitamin D and how it's detected and measured. They also dive into the function Vitamin D serves – why do we need it, what happens when we are deficient, and how do we make sure we get enough of this bomb vitamin (
Such a fun interview in this episode of The BibRave Podcast! Tim and Jess talk with Mikah Meyer who - in case you missed his 3-year, world record road trip to all 419 U.S. National Park Service sites - was also the first openly gay man featured in an Outdoors Recreation Campaign (which he did with REI). The three talk about Mikah's experience traveling across the country to all of the National Parks and also running across Mississippi and Minnesota. Mikah shares his passion for making the outdoors a safe space for everyone, and why certain groups feel excluded or worse when the environment isn't clearly welcoming for all. Have you ever had to worry about whether or not it was safe to hold your loved one's hand in a park or on a trail? Mikah has and he's made it his life's work to erase that worry for others. We're so excited to welcome trailblazing transathlete, Chris Mosier to The BibRave Podcast! Chris Mosier is an amazing hall of fame triathlete, All-American duathlete, and a 6-time member of Team USA. In 2015, he became the first known transgender man to represent the United States in international competition and was the catalyst for change for the International Olympic Committee policy on transgender athletes. He is also a 2x National Champion and the first transgender athlete to compete in the Olympic Trials in any sport in a category different than their sex assigned at birth. Tim and Jess host Chris for a fascinating and educational conversation about transgender issues as they relate to all sports - especially at the youth level. No matter where you stand on the subject (or where you think you stand), this is a really important conversation the delves into the recent legislation and controversy surrounding transgender athlete rights and access to sport. This week's episode of The BibRave Podcast is all about celebrating and preserving our body's largest organ - our skin! Tim and Jess talk with their friend and fellow runner, Dr. Kelly Griffith-Bauer, MD - a Board Certified Dermatologist and Mohs surgeon! They discuss everything related to skin such as various skin types, different types of sunblock, best practices for care and protection (especially for runners), and the consequences of neglecting sun protection. Obviously, this is a topic that affects all runners, regardless of pigmentation (they discuss that too), so there are a ton of useful takeaways. Bottom line - don't mess around with the sun because you do NOT want to go see Dr. Bauer.
Hope you're ready to get a little meta with this week's episode of The BibRave Podcast! Tim and Jess welcome back Episode 196's guest and the newest member of Team BibRave, Tony Yamanaka. Tony joins this episode more as a co-host than as a guest (even though he still gets the breakfast question), and the three chat about the latest and greatest new podcasts they have been listening to. Tim and Jess are particularly excited about their new fav (gotta listen to find out), and Tony shares a few fresh choices to consider for your next long run! Super excited for y'all to check out this week's episode of The BibRave Podcast! Tim and Jess talk with Jenny Jurek - one of our favs - who is an accomplished runner, climber, designer, author, and everything in between. Jenny shares the highs and the lows she experienced while crewing for her husband, Scott, on his Appalachian Trail FKT back in 2015. In the book she co-wrote with Scott, (NORTH - highly recommend!), Jenny wrote about some of her experiences as an Asian-American female in a part of the country that - frankly - doesn't see a lot of people that look like her. She discusses those stories with Tim and Jess, as well as some of the backlash she experienced from sharing and writing about those stories 5+ years ago. In addition to the other accolades above, Jenny is also a super mom who just casually takes her kids bike-packing around Japan. She is also an entrepreneur with a super exciting line of maternity products for runners coming out soon! Lots of great stuff here so hopefully you guys enjoy it! Can't wait for you to check out this week's episode of The BibRave Podcast! Tim and Jess talk with Mike Nishi, Chief Operating Officer of Chicago Event Management (CEM) - the company that puts on the Bank of America Chicago Marathon (among other events)! As a Chicago native, Mike's long history with the Chicago Marathon is fascinating (his childhood story of running it for his first time is mind-blowing). The fact that his company is now responsible for the herculean task of operating the race of more than 40,000 people gives his story even more cachet. In addition to discussing all things Chicago, Marathon, and CEM, the three discuss issues that are top of mind as we enter Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month in May. Mike talks about what it was like being a Japanese American in Chicago from the 70s, through to the present day, and he and Jessica discuss some of their difficulties processing and reacting to recent attacks against Asian Americans in this country. Aliphine talks about what her health, nutrition, and training have looked like postpartum, and how she's looking forward to the next big thing in her life… the Tokyo Olympics! We're super excited to bring you this week's episode of The BibRave Podcast - another insightful conversation between Jessica, Julia, and frequent podcast guest, Dr. Stacy Sims. Dr. Sims is an exercise physiologist, a nutrition scientist, and an expert in sex differences in training, nutrition, and health. In this conservation, the trio dive into all things hormones and our favorite topic that we hate to love - aging. Dr. Sims does a wonderful job explaining the differences between sex hormones and how they impact performance, fueling, and recovery with age. By understanding our bodies' natural aging process, we can better optimize our fuel, training, and recovery to hit our goals - whether they are centered around performance, body composition, or general health. If you want to know how to maximize your training as you get older, you'll definitely want to give this episode a listen! For a deeper podcast dive, check out this week's show notes
On this week's episode, Tim and Jess welcome an old friend and a new expert to The BibRave Podcast! Mark Colpoys, Senior Race Director/VP Event Production at EnMotive/Ventures Endurance, joins the show to share his take on racing during COVID and beyond. Tim and Jess have known Mark since the EARLY days of BibRave when Mark was working as the main race director at Fleet Feet Chicago. Their first meeting was a bit… standoffish, and the trio have a good laugh at how Mark was a bit skeptical of BibRave back then. Mark has directed MANY races across the country, varying in event size, market, distance, age, theme, and every other variable. He talks about how directing races changed after the Boston Marathon bombing in 2013, and how that experience might give us a glimpse into what racing is like post-COVID. He also shares what it's been like to support races during the pandemic, and how things vary not just from state-to-state but also from city-to-city. Mark and his team have experienced everything from “mask shaming” (i.e. “Why are you wearing a mask!?!?”) to hyper-vigilance and everything in between, so his perspective is really interesting. We've got something different for you on this week's installment of The BibRave Podcast. This episode is all about reexamining some of the choices society bakes into our lives. Think: going to college, buying a house, what job you take, etc. This is a subject Tim and Jess care deeply about, not because they've always bucked convention but because they HAVEN'T and (at times) have lived to regret it. So many of the big life choices we make are either permanent or have a LONG-lasting impact on our happiness, identity, career prospects, relationships, and so on. Nothing they talk about is meant to be preachy or judgey or anything like that. But they just wanted to share a discussion about some of these life choices that don't get enough consideration and encourage everyone to stop more often and think, “Wait, but why?” Want to join the podcast conversation? This week's episode of The BibRave Podcast features a peek behind the BibRave curtain! Tim, Jess, and Andy give us the scoop on the recent work offsite that they (along with Julia!) were lucky enough to attend… in Hawaii! Tim and Jess are housesitting in Hawaii (it's rough, we know!) and with strict attention to the state's COVID regulations, they were able to bring the BibRave leadership team together for the first time in over a year. Tim, Jess, and Andy discuss the topics and projects the team tackled, and they drop a lil' teaser on some fun new things to expect from BibRave in the next few weeks! They also talk about the current state of Andy's running (Marathon training!), how he's been handling the extremely cold Chicago temps this year (spoiler - he's surprisingly LOVING the cold!), and what's in store for each of their running futures this year. This week on The BibRave Podcast, we welcome Nathan Martin, an incredible human who defied countless setbacks and challenges to run the fastest Marathon ever run by a Black man born in the United States (2:11:05!). Tim and Jess had an amazing conversation with Nathan that dug into not only his training and racing regime but also his thought process and how he views running as a part of his life, rather than his defining element. This week's episode is sponsored by WhitePaw RunMitts, a small, woman-owned, black-owned business that was founded in Baltimore by Susan Clayton! WhitePaws RunMitts are thumbless running mittens that can flip open to allow for more airflow (perfect for us runners)! Use code “BIBRAVE5” to save $5 on all 2020 WhitePaws RunMitts! Time, Jess, and Nathan talk about Nathan's early years, including his lack of college ambition or direction and how a dedicated coach changed everything for him (and continues to fight for Nathan). They touch on his struggles with funding and making ends meet as a substitute teacher and coach trying to compete professionally without sponsor support. Nathan shares insights on intimidation and the difference between being scared by the things we're trying to do, rather than our competitors. This is an inspiring story from an inspiring guy who continues to succeed despite the odds that are stacked against him. For a deeper podcast dive, check out this week's show notes
This week on The BibRave Podcast, we're thrilled to feature one of our own, BibRave Ambassador Ebony Blackwell. Ebony sits on BibRave's DEI (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion) Advisory Council, and has a PhD in Education Administration with a focus on Higher Education. Ebony is a mom, runner, working professional, and adventurer who is working to run 50 Marathons in 50 states! In this episode, Jess and Andy chat with Ebony about her personal and professional journey learning about and experiencing issues of race, gender, and identity. They explore her dissertation, Taking Up Space: a Phenomenological Study of the Shared Experiences of Black Women enrolled in STEM Graduate Programs at PWIs, as a backdrop for how the running industry can better dismantle or adjust systems to enrich programs, initiatives, and policies. Ebony's connection to community organizations like Youth Run NOLA inspired her commitment to her own running and gave her insight on how to bring resources, support, and organization to communities of color. The trio also discusses “tokenism” and how to prevent it, as well as techniques for starting (sometimes difficult) conversations about race. We're proud to share Ebony's story and grateful to have her in our BibRave community. For a deeper podcast dive, check out this week's show notes
This week we welcome Coach Dan Kittaka back to the BibRave Podcast! Dan brings not only a wealth of knowledge about coaching and running, but also invaluable insight and reflection about the bigger things that running adds to our lives. Tim, Jess, and Dan really dig into the benefits of training for short distances, why PRs should NOT dictate your goals, and also finding the ever-elusive “why” to train for an ambitious goal. Coach Dan's episodes are always informative and deeply reflective, and this one's no exception! This week's episode of The BibRave Podcast is sponsored by the Foot Levelers Blue Ridge Marathon being held April 17th in Roanoke, Virginia! This week on The BibRave Podcast, Tim, Jess, and Andy share their Roses, Buds, and Thorns of 2020. It's been quite a year and they talk about the good, the bad, and the blooming! For the uninitiated, Rose, Bud, Thorn is a conversational game where each participant names one thing that's a thorn in their life (a real pain), a bud (something that is starting to emerge as a positive thing but not quite there yet), and a rose (a fully realized and absolute good thing in their life). 2020 has had a ton of negatives, but this episode is definitely not just about COVID and it actually shows how many silver linings the year had. We hope you enjoy, see you all in the New Year! For a deeper podcast dive, check out this week's show notes

This week on The BibRave Podcast, Tim and Jess welcome writer and coach Matt Fitzgerald back to the show! We last talked to Matt on Episode 96 and so much has changed in Matt's life since then. Starting in early spring, Matt developed COVID-19-like symptoms and has struggled to regain his normal fitness and running ability since then. As he noted on Twitter, “Some people die of COVID-19. Others recover. Still others neither die nor recover fully. It seems I may belong to this last group, and the experience is challenging me to practice what I preach about mental fitness like nothing else ever has.” Tim and Jess talk to Matt about his struggle through this seemingly endless ordeal, his physical conditions and how those have affected his running, and the mental toll it's taken on him. Matt's story is deeply unfortunate but also very eye-opening. Lastly and on a brighter note, they also talk about Matt's new book The Comeback Quotient, an extremely timely and valuable book for all of us in 2020. This week on The BibRave Podcast, we're talking about The Best Races of the Decade, as recently revealed on the 2020 list of The BibRave 100! In light of all the cancellations related to the pandemic, the 2020 list is a “A Decade in Review,” highlighting the best races of the last 10 years and giving events some much-needed good news to highlight and promote. This year's list included the Top 20 Marathons, the Top 20 Half Marathons, the Top 20 Races of 10 Miles or Less, and other non-distance categories such as Best Virtual Race Experience and Best Race-cation. Tim, Andy, and Jess walk through the list, highlighting the different winners across categories and sharing their own personal stories with (or goals to run!) each race. This week on The BibRave Podcast we welcome back Jeff Dengate from Runner's World! It's that time of year again, and everyone's starting to think about shopping and gifts (for better or worse!). Tim and Jess were excited to talk with Jeff about running-related gear, and especially to get his thoughts about Runner's World's newly-released Best Gear of the Year list. This is an amazingly well-researched and tested list of all the best running gear from 2020, and there are some really killer items on there for every budget. If you're looking to “Treat Yo'self” or the runner in your life, definitely check out their list of the best runner gear! This week's episode is brought to you by BUFF® whose new gear just got cooler (but warm at the same time ❄️
This week on The BibRave Podcast, Tim and Jess welcome back OG co-host, Julia Montag! This week's episode is brought to you by AfterShokz and they've got some BIG (but also mini
Please join us in welcoming California Director for the National Wildlife Federation, Beth Pratt, to The BibRave Podcast this week! Tim and Jess talk with Beth about changing our perceptions of where wildlife “should” be, in addition to how we can stay safe around wildlife - especially on the run. Beth has worked in conservation for almost 30 years, and has done some amazing things to help runners and other recreationists coexist with some pretty impressive carnivores (her TEDx Talk How a Lonely Cougar in Los Angeles Inspired the World is a must watch)! This week's episode is sponsored by the Illinois Marathon Criss Cross Challenge! Are you ready to make some Illi-NOISE? Sign up to virtually walk or run the state of Illinois! You can pick from West to East (224 Miles) or North to South (435 Miles) or if you're like us, both! You'll score a beanie, face mask, t-shirt, challenge coin, and more swag! Use code “BRP5OFF” for $5 off when you register! Tim, Jess, and Beth talk about how runners can stay safe when encountering wild animals (of all sizes), how we can balance being cautious with overreacting, how integrated living situations are better than relying on separate, protected places for animals only or people only, and a lot of other useful tips for how to educate ourselves about nature and our furry companions (who are often there even when we don't know they are...
This week on The BibRave Podcast we feature a conversation with Tim, Julia, and physical therapist, Matt Walsh. Matt is a Portland-based PT with over 33 years of clinical experience across sports like running, golf, rugby, and cross country skiing. Matt is also Julia's PT which is how we came to know him! We talk with Matt about what it's like to run throughout the decades of our life, what we can expect, and how to ideally prepare for aging as a runner. It's a great look at common pitfalls that most runners encounter, and there is a ton of really interesting biomechanics in our discussion. We enjoy our chat with Matt and hope his breakdown of the human body is helpful to you as a runner! For a deeper podcast dive, check out this week's show notes
We come to you this week with very heavy hearts after the loss of our dear friend, Tony Banovich. Tony was a running icon in the Montana running scene, and as Race Director of The Missoula Marathon he catapulted the event to national recognition as one of the best races in the country. Tony was an impossibly kind, warm, positive, funny, and energetic human, an incomparable ambassador for the sport of running, and a dear friend. We already miss him terribly. Tony suffered from a severe heart condition (cardiomyopathy), and he shared more details about his health on The BibRave Podcast back in February. As a small tribute to Tony and to further awareness of his condition (education he was eager to spread), we've decided to re-air some clips of that episode along with a few others from his interview in 2019. Tim, Jess, and Julia also offer some additional thoughts and memories of Tony in the intro. We're so sad to have lost such a great person, and our hearts go out to his wife Erin, their children, and their grandchildren. For a deeper podcast dive, check out this week's show notes
We're happy to welcome Dr. Justin Ross back to The BibRave Podcast this week! Dr. Ross has been a regular guest on the show, and as a clinical psychologist specializing in health & wellness psychology, human performance, and sports psychology. We were extremely interested in his thoughts and guidance on navigating uncertainty in the times of COVID-19. Tim and Jess cover a range of topics with Dr. Ross (starting with an AMAZING breakfast sandwich recipe!). They talk about role confusion (hello parents-as-teachers!) and the resulting anxiety, modeling resiliency especially for our kids, co-workers, and partners, dealing with fear, and redefining values when there are no races on offer. We're excited to bring you another episode of The BibRave Podcast! This week, we talk with Brenda Martinez, an American track and field athlete who specializes in middle distance races like the 800 and 1500 meters. Brenda has been struggling with injuries for the past three years, so Tim and Jess were excited to see how she's doing in the run-up to the 2020/2021 Olympic games. In addition to inspiring the hell out of us with her on-track performances (defying adversity and qualifying for the Olympics after getting tripped in her main event), Brenda also hosts an amazing training camp to empower young athletes called BMART Camp. Tim and Jess talk with Brenda about the camp, how it started, and why it's so important to her. And of course, the trio obviously geeks out over plenty of coffee, journaling, and gear talk.
We've got a doozy for y'all this week, and something decidedly NOT about running! In this episode of The BibRave Podcast, Tim, Jess, and Andy discuss their top five TV show characters of all time! This was an entertaining and nostalgic discussion, with everyone listing their opinions and rationales for who made their list! Interestingly enough, the BibRave Team has ZERO overlaps on their lists, showing very distinct TV show and personality preferences. Spoiler alert - judging by his list, Tim basically only likes horrible, horrible TV show characters.
Tim and Jess are talking to Dr. Justin Jelen, a chiropractic physician based in Portland, OR who specializes in treating athletes this week on The BibRave Podcast! While there are an infinite number of injury-related and biomechanical questions for someone like Dr. Jelen, this conversation is pretty focussed on strength training and muscle gain. Specifically, Tim and Jess ask Dr. Jelen - should runners WANT to add muscle weight? It's a very interesting and important topic that Dr. Jelen does a great job answering, providing loads of meaningful insight and actionable advice throughout the conversation. Please welcome Tony Reed, Co-Founder and Executive Director of the National Black Marathoners Association to this week's episode of The BibRave Podcast! Tony's story is a fascinating one, and he tells Tim and Jess about all the great work organizations like the NBMA are doing to grow the number of Black runners in our sport. They discuss some of Tony's inspiration behind starting the NBMA, along with some of the challenges he's experienced on the road to growing the group to more than 16,000 members. We really loved this conversation with Tony, and we're proud to highlight such a shining and inspiring leader in our sport! For a deeper podcast dive, check out this week's show notes

They talk about running gear and what Zach and Amanda look for in running equipment - especially for ultras when having the right gear is particularly important. They also talk about what Zach and Amanda look for in brand partners and sponsorships, which was super cool to hear. The second part is Tim's conversation with Media Marketing Manager at BUFF®, Casey Rolig! They talk about the moment BUFF® is having right now due to COVID-19 and face coverings being required in most places, plus some really cool product development issues focused on sustainability. Then Tim asks Casey what he looks for in BUFF® sponsored athletes. It's your LAST CHANCE vote for your favorite distance races from the last decade for The BibRave 100!

This week on The BibRave Podcast we take listeners back into the BibRave kitchen! Tim and Jess make Chinese dumplings, and discuss food, culture, dumplings vs. potstickers, the value of knowing (and appreciating) where our food comes from, and some notable food influencers and personalities. Runners love few things as much as food, and this episode is a healthy portion of our favorite topic! Before we hop into the kitchen with Tim and Jess, have you nominated your favorite races from the last decade for The BibRave 100? Only ONE WEEK left to nominate your fav races to win this year!
This week on The BibRave Podcast we bring you a conversation about the future of road racing with Patrick McInerney. Patrick is VP of Engagement and Innovation at EnMotive, a tech platform that powers a TON of events across the country, from your local 5K to 40,000-person events like Hot Chocolate Chicago, along with some crazy-successful virtual races. EnMotive either owns, operates, or provides tech solutions for races in countless markets in North America, so he has unique insight into what's happening to road racing and what we can expect in the future. Tim, Jess, and Patrick discuss when we can return to in-real life events, the economics of a race and the countless liabilities race operators face, the fact that most races LOSE money on expos, the future of expos, and what a successful virtual event entails. There's definitely some good news and some bad news in this episode, but it's a very real, honest conversation with someone who knows a ton about the sport and wants nothing more than to be hosting in-person events soon!
