The US Supreme Court has reshaped birthright citizenship – and the judiciary itself. US President Donald Trump is claiming victory after last week’s Supreme Court ruling that federal judges cannot issue nationwide injunctions. Has the ruling reshaped the power of the presidency? Today, we're looking at New York Times columnist David French's apparent shift on "transgender" issues, as he's seemed to change his tune on preferred pronouns and how this relates to Christianity. We explore how this change undermines his claims of principled conservatism and examine the case of Brian Riedl, a Manhattan Institute fellow now identifying as Jessica, whose claims of having a "female brain" lack scientific backing. We also tackle the debate over birthright citizenship, unpacking the Supreme Court's recent ruling on Trump's executive order, and how birth tourism and chain migration are reasons we should consider doing away with birthright citizenship. Finally, we address a viral story about an ICE detainee allegedly losing her baby due to neglected medical care. The Department of Homeland Security claims this isn't true, so we look at counterclaims and urge caution against emotionally charged narratives. As the Supreme Court wraps up its term, the boys again summon Damon Root, author of Overruled: The Long War for Control of the U.S. Supreme Court, to break down the various rulings (for those of us who don't pay attention but still want to convince Scott Bakula to time travel and deport baby Kmele). Post-Damon, another hour…during which Matt tells the story of his car being smashed up by Russian trash men (which, surprisingly, is not a euphemism), Zohran code switches, the Big Ugly Bill lurches through the Senate, and stupid “revolutionaries” think it's their moment. Canada has scrapped its digital services tax targeting U.S. technology firms in a bid to advance stalled trade negotiations with the United States. Senate Republicans pushed President Donald Trump's sweeping tax cut and spending bill forward in a marathon weekend session. Farmers and workers say ICE raids are leaving crops unharvested in California. And immigrants scramble for clarity after the Supreme Court's birthright ruling. Find the recommended read here. Sermon June 29, 2025 | Rev. Richard Harris | Christ Presbyterian Church in Houston, TX | “Selling the Birthright” from Genesis 25:24-34 The post Selling the Birthright appeared first on Christ Presbyterian Church of Houston.
It started with President Trump's bold and triumphant strikes on Iran's nuclear facilities. It ended with massive wins at the Supreme Court on several issues, including an end to lower court injunctions on his executive orders and a green light to end birthright citizenship in the United States.Jake Kubie, Director of Communications for the Denver Zoo explains the venue's decision to shut down on early Saturday with reports of violent teenage mobs descending on City Park.
Devastating Blow To Judicial Tyranny, Supreme Court Rules Lower Courts Cannot Enact National Injunctions, Green-Lighting Mass Deportations & An End To Birthright Citizenship! Plus, SCOTUS Rules Against Pedo-Cult's Mass Indoctrination of Children
The Supreme Court's new ruling on birthright citizenship is even worse than feared. By refusing to strike down Donald Trump's unconstitutional executive order outright, and instead gutting nationwide injunctions, SCOTUS has effectively handed the president the power to override the Constitution — and blocked the courts from universally stopping him. We break down exactly how this decision paves the way for two Americas: one where constitutional rights are upheld, and one where they are ignored. “Separate, but unequal” is back, and the consequences could be catastrophic. Journalists Jim Avila and Michael Shure will be in to discuss the Supreme Court rulings. Then, we'lll bring a dose of levity with Friday Fabuloud Florida and The Culture Blaster, Michael Snyder.
The Supreme Court limits nationwide injunctions in birthright citizenship order. How Israel pulled off audacious ‘Red Wedding' and ‘Operation Narnia' attacks on Iran.
The Supreme Court has given the Trump administration a major victory, curbing nationwide injunctions from district courts that halted Trump's plans to end birthright citizenship. The court's conservatives argued in a 6-3 ruling that because nationwide injunctions did not exist in the High Court of Chancery in England at the time of the nation's founding, lower courts had overstepped in blocking Trump's executive order. Notably, the Court did not rule on the constitutionality of Trump's move to end birthright citizenship. In a scathing opinion, Justice Sonia Sotomayor writes: “The gamesmanship in this request is apparent and the Government makes no attempt to hide it. Yet, shamefully, this Court plays along. Because I will not be complicit in so grave an attack on our system of law, I dissent.”Also in this episode, the Supreme Court rules in Mahmoud v. Taylor that parents are able to opt their children out of pro-LGBTQ books being read in schools.

For over a week now, we have been reporting stories about Canadians stranded in Israel since that country launched its pre-emptive attack on Iran on June 13. But slowly, and under the radar for security reasons, The CJN has been speaking to some of the first tourists who found ways to evacuate Israel–mostly without any help from the Canadian government. We couldn't report their stories until it was safe to do so. But now that many of the Canadians we interviewed last week are either home or well on their way, we can bring you some of their amazing stories–whether it was boarding that all-expenses paid, chartered luxury Israeli cruise ship for a party-filled voyage to Cyprus or taking an anxiety-filled secret bus trip through Israel to Jordan and then a flight to Cairo, and finally on to Europe, all while hiding their Jewishness and the fact they are gay. Leonard Temes is an architect and interior designer from Toronto who came to Israel for on a Pride mission with a Jewish Federations of North America group, but left clandestinely five days ago. He had the added fright of finding himself on the same plane as those extremist pro-Palestinian protesters who tried to participate on the global March on Gaza, but were kicked out of Egypt by local authorities. Meanwhile Philip Lerner, a Thornhill data scientist, came to Israel to volunteer with an Orthodox youth group connected to the AISH movement. Lerner was offered a berth on that Israeli cruise ship chartered by Birthright, via Ashdod to Cyprus. He's dubbed the overnight voyage “The Jew Cruise”. But Lerner says despite what social media videos you might have seen of the 1,500 Jewish young people dancing and partying on the pool deck, the overall journey was anything but smooth sailing. On today's episode of The CJN's North Star podcast, host Ellin Bessner speaks with both Leonard Temes and Philip Lerner, about how they got out. Josh says there is an air of puposelessness in the U.S. and he feels that other young adults lack maturity. He went on Birthright and then an intern through the Onward program, and then when the Oct. 7th attacks happened, he decided to move to Israel and join in the fight with his Jewish brothers and sisters. Kol haKavod! Josh will be the first in his family to make aliyah and is hoping his 17-year-old sister and parents will follow him. Returning Home 22JUNE2025 - PODCAST

Eva Kuper, a Holocaust survivor from Montreal, spent the first five years of her life hiding from the Nazis in German-occupied Poland. Now, the well-known Holocaust educator is stranded in Israel together with a group of university and CEGEP students on the “Journey of Hope”, a trip supported by Montreal's Federation CJA. After visiting Auschwitz with the students two weeks ago, and taking them to see the sites in Poland where Kuper grew up between 1940 and 1945, the delegation landed in Israel a week ago—just before Israel launched its surprise air raids on Iran on June 13. Since then, Iran has been retaliating with nightly barrages of missiles and drones that have now killed 24 people and injured more than 600 others. The action curtailed the Canadians' trip, and the group is now spending its time confined to their hotel, rushing down to bomb shelters when the air raid sirens go off. While the students—and their worried parents—have been anxious, Kuper has been impressed by the scenes of resilience she has observed. She joins _North Star _host Ellin Bessner from Israel. In this episode, you'll also hear from Yair Szlak, the CEO of Federation CJA of Montreal, who explains what his organization is doing to help bring people home, and from Glenn Nashen, a parent of a teenager now on Birthright who is also stranded in Israel. By Doug Wendt - In ancient times, the birthright that was offered by the father to his firstborn son was a tremendous blessing and yet, some lost out. In a similar way, as firstfruits, we also must respect the gracious gifts offered to us by our Heavenly Father, in order to inherit our spiritual birthright.

Zoe Pepper mines the generational wealth divide for all its worth in the acidic WA-made comedy Birthright. Cory (a perfectly cast deadpan Travis Jeffery) and his very pregnant wife Jasmine (an equally deadpan and delightful Maria Angelico) are getting the shaft from their rental. Stuffed in more ways than one, they load up all they can into the boot of their car and trundle off to the sanctuary of mum and dad, Cory's baby-boomer parents, Richard and Lyn (pitch perfect casting of Michael Hurst and Linda Cropper).Cory's parents live in a swanky abode in a leafy green suburb somewhere in Perth. Their house has more rooms than they need, with costly, barely used furniture swaddled in sheets and blankets to protect them from dust. Their home feels, well, a little soulless, like the misused result of decades of wealth accumulation; by any other name they might be called 'hoarders'.I couldn't help but unleash my praise on Zoe in the following interview, one which explores the foundations of the film, its relevance to now, the casting process, and the joys of bringing dark comedy to life on screen. I also apply a misreading to the film about a rock that Richard holds during one scene, summoning the name of one Scott Morrison, and alluding to his infamous embrace of coal in Parliament House.Birthright is the kind of film that'll shine with an audience, and for Aussies in Sydney, they'll get the chance to do so on Thursday 12 June, with two more sessions on 13 and 14 June at the Sydney Film Festival. Birthright citizenship has been a very hot topic for the last few years. When Donald Trump signed an executive order that quoted both the Constitution of the United States and federal law, claiming that would be the policy of the United States, that triggered mulitiple lawsuits. Now, three of those suits have been combined into one and oral arguments were heard at the Supreme Court.
