Often it's the little things, and not the flashy technology or slick user interface that make a product or experience memorable. The handwritten note from customer service, or the humorous quote that pops up as you're waiting for a screen to load. Our guest today, Felicia Hatcher, calls these “moments of enchantment,” and she advocates for more opportunities for a human touch, as artificial intelligence and machine learning push us in the opposite direction. Felicia is the CEO of Black Ambition, an organization founded by Pharrell Williams that works towards closing the opportunity and wealth gap through entrepreneurship. Prior to her current role, she was Chief Popsicle and co-owner of Feverish Ice Cream, and was Co-Founder & Executive Director of the Center for Black Innovation. In our conversation, we talk about the perpetual growth and achievement across her career, what she learned bootstrapping her ice cream business from her parent's backyard to Fortune 500 clients, and how her entrepreneurial experiences shape the way she advises and mentors students and entrepreneurs. Bio Felecia Hatcher is on a mission to rid communities of innovation deserts by working with community leaders and government officials to create inclusive and diverse tech/startup ecosystems as the Co-Founder of Code Fever, Black Tech Week and Tribe Cowork and Urban Innovation Lab. Hatcher has raised over 3 million dollars to support Code Fever's work which sits at the intersection of economic development and inclusive innovation. As an Author, Social Entrepreneur and the former Chief Popsicle of Feverish Ice Cream, Hatcher was named one of the Empact 100 Top 100 Entrepreneurs under the age of 30 by the White House and Kauffman Foundation in 2011, a 2014 White House Champion of Change for STEM Access and Diversity, Ruth Shack Honoree, 2017 Comcast/Nationswell Tech Impact Allstar, a Black Enterprise 2017 TechConnext Game Changer and 2016 Innovator of the Week, Essence Magazine Tech Master, and featured on the NBC Today Show, MSNBC, FORBES, INC, The Cooking Channel, & Grio's 100 African American's Making History.

We sat down with Ona from Black Pod Collective- a platform created to represent black podcasters. http://voyageatl.com/interview/meet-ona-oghogho-blk-pod-collective-downtown-atlanta/The girls recapped their lives since their last recording . Candy got to attend her first Friendsgiving. Hali planned and completed her first Mental Health Conference at CAU. Cidnee talked about her experience at Black Tech Week and speaking on a panel in Vegas. Ona talked about spending the rest of her year planning for 2020. Our guest helped us with the CareFreeBlackGirl of the week- Little Chole Harvard Debate team The girls take this time to talk about finding your voice and encouraging younger girls to do the same . A lot happened in black girl land this month and we’re just getting caught up. The big discussion on the table was Ari losing the Album of the Year to Lizzo for the soul train awards. The girls gave their opinions on how they felt the awards should of gone . Ona brought up a good point of how the industry is and the awards needing more categories. The politics of the award shows is the industry problem and not the artist in the running . The ladies briefly spoke about Grammy nominations and spoke who we’re most excited for. Cidnee was excited to see how many artist she has come across being nominated for Grammy’s . We’re waiting to see what the conversations will be like the night of. The girls talk Kash Doll’s new album - the girls love the singles not that full project. Our girl Megan didn’t get any nominations but she was still in the news this week with an alleged fling with Trey Songz. The girls almost gagged only to find out , it was just a friendly hang out . * side eye , we shall see. Hot Girl Meg got to hang out with our other homegirl Ciara and we saw both knees in action. We listened to Ciara’s latest track and decided that the effort is appreciated but we will not be playing Melanin. We briefly talk Future and other foolish men like his brother T.I. Ona and Candy got to listen to the podcast where T.I. spoke about attending his daughters OBGYN checkups. We won’t promo the podcast but the women did say they were a little uncomfortable with the conversation and later decided to delete the episode. After doing research the statement was very ignorant on T.I.’s part but a little corny for the girls to air the show . Candy talks about the embarrassment Dajaa must feel after the whole ordeal. We’re hoping she is ok from this and we’re hoping she can overcome any issues that rose from his statements. Hali also notes that a broken hymen does not mean that a woman is not a virgin. On a serious note Cidnee went to Tulsa Oklahoma and learned about Black Wall Street in the early 1900. A very wealthy place for black people with lost of prosperity, businesses and wealth. The KKK burned the whole block down after a while woman said someone stole something from them. The block was burned and it turned into a whole race war . In 2019 the location has been memorialized along with a museum with the families names and the amount of money they lost. The ladies challenge more black people to teach their children more history outside of what taught in the classroom. On another serious note we talk about Alexis Crawford who was killed by roommate and her roommates boyfriend. Crawford was raped by Jordyn’s boyfriend and reported it. Alexis went missing days after the report and was later found dead. Jordyns boyfriend confessed to the murder and told authorities that it was her idea. The group has been arrested and is being held without bond. We are praying for the Crawford family. Hali talks about the steps CAU is taking to help the students. Sex Trafficking is a big deal in the Atlanta area and across the US right now . We encourage our listeners to take precaution when traveling. There are groups of women getting people to sign up for a church , white vans and more . If you feel weird . Call for help.Get FreeThe girls talk Sticking to your diet during the holidays. Cidnee has been on her no meat diet since September and going strong. But she plans to get busy on thanksgiving. The group tells her not to jump back in so quit. Next we talk visiting your family during the holidays . Ona’s visited her boyfriend’s family who was Seventh Day Adventist and she spoke about how awkward it was giving them gifts and being left out of the loop. Cidnee said she never invites people over because she doesn’t want people to be uncomfortable. Hali let us know that her family is a safe space so she would really have to be into someone to invite them over , not a semester fling. Listeners - Do you think it’s important to meet the fam before getting serious with someone? Cidnee pulls from her work your light deck to give us some insight on what this season will bring Perfect timing - believe in perfect timing and letting things play out Emotional healing - taking time to reconnect and heal things that are in need Daughter and son card - means family , holiday season - this card focuses on emotional healing during this season The Akasha - gifts lessons and gifts exist here . Felecia Hatcher is a serial entrepreneur who's mission is to rid communities of innovation deserts - meaning she wants to bring creativity, tech, and epic ideas to areas where this is uncommon. As the founder of Black Tech Week, Code Fever, Feverish, and one of only two co-working space in a black neighborhood in Florida - she is changing and shaping the entrepreneur and tech space for people of color. As a mom, she thrives off of the support from her husband, her small but mighty staff, and using the flexibility of entrepreneurship to manage all of her hats. She's ok when she gets it right and still ok when she gets it wrong. She prioritizes 3 things in life and uses that as a measure to guide her actions. She empowers her staff to make decisions for the business and she says no when necessary - especially to networking events. We talk about the strength of a black woman and the need for us to remember this as we go through tests and trials. Quotes: One of the biggest lessons I learned is just how strong black women are.
