All of us here at Mom Jeans and Minivans hope everyone out there is healthy and safe in this uncertain time of the Coronavirus pandemic. This week's episode was already recorded when the Coronavirus struck. An excerpt was added on the Coronavirus at the beginning of this episode as it related to this week's topic on wintertime preventions. We did some research on our own and noticed there was a lot of false information out there about the Coronavirus, so we wanted to provide you with some facts from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Know the symptoms, when to seek medical attention, and how to differentiate between the common cold and the virus. This episode is chock full of information on fighting back against the common cold and flu and is on the list of Morgen & Trisha’s most favorite episodes. The ladies do their best to provide the girls with balanced meals, leaning heavily in the fruit and veggie categories. And now that Charlie & Remi are a bit older (cue tears streaming down the cheek at the mention of them getting older), the supplements they are given has changed, which is discussed. There is no avoiding the common cold, so when it does strike at home Morgen & Trisha have some useful remedies you’ll want to take note of. Let’s just say that homemade chicken noodle soup might be the hidden cure for the common cold, seriously! It’s a must-try. Did you know there is an essential oil you can add to a humidifier that helps with congestion? Listen in to find out what it is. Local honey! Trisha is a huge believer in the healing effects and speaks on how it has been a game-changer in her home. Ever hear of Oogiebear? Neither had Morgen & Trisha until Trisha’s sister had her baby shower and received it as a gift. Simply register your details here: https://news.wddty.com/landing/free-issue/ In their latest podcast, What Doctors Don’t Tell You editors Bryan Hubbard and Lynne McTaggart list some of the cold remedies they’ve been taking before discussing the latest warning from America’s drug regulator, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), that homeopathic remedies can cause ‘significant and permanent harm’. Changing the clocks twice a year isn’t harmless – it can increase the risk of heart disease and accidents, and Lynne and Bryan discuss why this could be having such a harmful effect. And eating most of our food after 6pm can also be bad for the heart, so eating little and lightly after that time could be the best approach, as Lynne and Bryan suggest. From there, they discuss yet another example of how environment and lifestyle can trump genetics. In this case, they look at new research that demonstrates that exercising for just 35 minutes a day reduces the risk of a depressive episode, even for those who have a genetic disposition. Wrapping things up, and staying on the subject of exercise, they question the dictum that we should be doing strenuous exercise for at least 75 minutes a week. New research they discuss shows that jogging for 50 minutes every eight or nine days offers all the health benefits.

"I find the body to be a very sacred place and I don’t think that you need to get attention by exposing your skin, I think you can get attention by dressing interesting." - my guest Negarin, on the modest fashion movement and her personal styleNegarin has always been a go-getter. In the same year we met, I watched her launch her own fashion line,Negarin London, debut at London Fashion Week. She was also really nice to me when I moved to London (which I can’t say for most girls). We discuss how she came to understand self-presentation growing up in Iran and how the hijab changes beauty standards. We talk about her father’s intensity and commitment to human rights and her Mom’s phobia of sun exposure. I learn how this relates to colorism and an unfair premium on fair skin that seems to be a global phenomenon. We talk about COLOR: why she loves wearing pastels and how good pink and coral look on darker skin.“I want to be loud about the fact that I’m different” is Negarin’s stance on standing out in the tech world where everyone tends to look the same. Her skincare routine is super simple and she believes the more you touch your face and mess with it, the more problems you’ll have with your skin. She also shares her experience following a fully ketogenic diet which made her ‘feel like a bird’ because she just had so much energy. Apparently salmon, avocado and spinach is the best way to delve into Keto but I’ll take her word for it because it sounds like entirely too much work (urine strips & weighing food are involved).
