Our ears, nose, and throat (ENT) work quietly together to shape how we hear, breathe, taste, and even defend ourselves against the outside world. From the often-misunderstood role of earwax to why dry air and seasonal changes make nosebleeds more common—and how inflammation and mucosal irritation contribute to sore throats—many everyday ENT issues are actually signs of smart protective design. But with such a complex system, how simple can effective treatments really be? Can warm tea with honey actually soothe throat irritation? Are cotton swabs really bad for our ears? Can spicy foods truly clear sinus infections? In this episode, we are joined by Dr. Chris Park, MD (known online as ChrisP.MD), an Otolaryngology (ENT) - Head & Neck Surgery Chief Resident Physician.Dr. Park received his B.A. in Biology and Computer Science from Dartmouth College and his M.D. with Distinction in Research from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, where he was a Researcher at the Laryngology Lab. Have you ever walked past something every single day and somehow never noticed it? Yep… me too. In this episode of the Visibly Fit Podcast, we're talking about healing tools that are hiding in plain sight — the simple, everyday things you probably already have at home that can support your health in powerful ways.I kick things off with a funny story about my husband's missing LARQ bottle (because who loses something that's literally right in front of their face?). But that moment reminded me of something deeper: so many of us overlook the most effective healing modalities because they seem too simple or too ordinary. We assume health has to be complicated, expensive, or high-tech, when in reality, God has already provided us with so many tools right where we are.I hope that this conversation opens your eyes a little wider to your home, your backyard, and even your everyday routines. Because healing isn't always found in something new… sometimes it's found in what you've been walking past all along.Chapters[00:00] Podcast Preview[01:22] Welcome + The “Lost” LARQ Bottle Story[04:15] Hidden in Plain Sight: The Deeper Lesson[06:08] Hot Potato Remedy for Sore Throats[08:00] Saltwater, Lemon, Thyme & Peppermint Gargle[08:42] Pine Needle Tea & Its Powerful Benefits[10:36] Purslane: The Wild Weed That Fuels Energy[12:54] Milk Thistle + Dandelion Root Liver Detox Tea[15:11] Onions in the Socks to Reduce Fever Naturally[17:40] Cabbage Wraps for Joint Pain & Inflammation[19:09] DIY Brain Fog Blend with Pumpkin Seeds & Herbs[21:06] Parsley Tea for UTI Support[22:39] Aloe Vera: Skin Healing & Everyday Uses[23:54] Epsom Salt Baths for Magnesium + Inflammation[25:05] Baking Soda for Heartburn Relief[26:11] Rice Compress for Hot/Cold Therapy[27:10] Towels, Broomsticks & Paper Plates for Home Workouts[30:15] Mason Jars & Pantry Hacks for Healthy Living[34:00] Citrus Peel Aromatherapy[34:56] Final Thoughts: What Are You Overlooking in Your Life?Resources mentioned:FREE Green Drink Recipe: liveimmune.comConnect with me: wendy@wendiepett.com More FREE Resources visit wendiepett.comP.S. On this episode of Vitality Radio, Jared shares another installment of his listener-favorite series, Max Health, Minimal Cost—where simple, affordable supplements deliver results that rival much pricier options. This week's focus is on three underrated yet powerful natural tools: Slippery Elm Bark, Citrus Bioflavonoids (including Rutin and Hesperidin), and Suma Root—each available for well under 50 cents a day. Jared explains how Slippery Elm soothes and protects the throat, stomach, and intestinal lining—supporting healthy digestion and relief from occasional throat and voice irritation without the side effects of common over-the-counter drugs. He then explores how Citrus Bioflavonoids strengthen blood vessels, reduce bruising, enhance Vitamin C absorption, and help stabilize histamine activity for those seeking natural support for circulation and immune balance. Finally, he introduces Suma, a powerful adaptogen used to promote balanced energy, hormone support, and stress resilience. Each of these time-tested botanicals demonstrates that true vitality doesn't have to come at a high price. Whether you're addressing digestive comfort, vascular health, or overall energy, Jared shows how small daily investments in these supplements can lead to big returns in well-being.Products:Solaray Slippery Elm CapsulesSource Naturals Slippery Elm LozengesTraditional Medicinals Throat Coat TeaYogi Throat Comfort TeaNature's Life Lemon BioflavinoidsSolaray RutinSolaray SumaVitality Nutrition Mind FuelUltimate Vitality MultiClinical Immunity Elderberry Gummies (Vitality Radio POW! Send us a textThe rollercoaster of parenthood hits different when you're watching your children approach major life transitions. In this raw, unfiltered episode, I dive deep into the emotional whirlwind of having my son graduate high school while my daughter prepares to enter the jungle of middle school. What happens when our children reach these pivotal moments, and we suddenly realize just how unprepared they might be for what's coming next? I share the text from my son that stopped me in my tracks: "Dad, I don't know what I'm going to do." After 12 years of structured education, many young adults feel completely lost about their next move—a feeling I remember all too well from my own graduation.Parenthood comes with horror stories that keep us up at night. From shocking teenage behaviors to predatory adults targeting our children, the world can feel like a horror movie that our kids are walking into unprepared. But through these fears, we must remember our crucial role: teaching our children that failure isn't fatal—it's formative. The sun doesn't shine every day for a reason. Rain is necessary for growth. Similarly, our children need both successes and failures to develop resilience and character. As parents, we can't prevent every hardship, but we can teach them how to stand back up, dust themselves off, and move forward with the wisdom gained from each fall.Life is a chessboard requiring strategy, foresight, and adaptability. Some of us start as pawns but can evolve into more powerful pieces through experience and learning. Are you teaching your children to play checkers, reacting to one move at a time, or chess—thinking several moves ahead?Tune in for an honest conversation about navigating parenthood's most challenging transitions and preparing our children for a world that won't always be sunshine and rainbows. Because sometimes the most important parenting happens when we let our children face the rain.Support the show

The very busy actress, Laila Robins, was recently seen in Ryan Murphy's anthology series, American Horror Stories. She also has a recurring role as Colonel Grace Mallory on the hugely popular Amazon series, The Boys.  Laila starred opposite Amanda Seyfried in the Apple+ limited series, The Crowded Room and opposite Joshua Jackson and Alec Baldwin in the Hulu limited series, Dr. Death.  She also recurred memorably as Katarina Rostova on the hit NBC series The Blacklist, and she had a major arc playing Pamela Milton on the final season of AMC's The Walking Dead.  Among, Laila's many film appearances are: Eye in the Sky, Side Effects, Blumenthal, Concussion, The Good Shepherd, An Innocent Man, Welcome Home Roxy Carmichael, True Crime, and Planes, Trains, and Automobiles.  You may have also seen her in such TV series as: The Handmaid's Tale, Homeland, Deception, 30 Rock, So Help Me Todd, Bull, Person of Interest, Blue Bloods, Damages, In Treatment, The Sopranos, Law and Order, and the series lead in Gabriel's Fire opposite the late, legendary James Earl Jones. Laila's work on Broadway includes Heartbreak House, the Tony-nominated play Frozen, and The Real Thing, as well as Off-Broadway in: the quartet of Richard Nelson's Apple Family plays. She's also appeared around the U.S. in numerous stage performances in shows such as: The Lady from Dubuque, Antony and Cleopatra, A Midsummer's Night's Dream, Sore Throats, Tiny Alice, Mrs. Klein, The Merchant of Venice, and many productions at The Guthrie in her hometown of St. Paul/Minneapolis, including Hedda Gabler and The Lion in Winter.   Over the years, I've enjoyed quite a few of Laila's on-screen performances in shows of which I'm a big fan, including everything she did in The Walking Dead, Homeland, The Blacklist and The Boys. Laila never hits a false note even when the stories in which she's acting brilliantly defy reality.Of note: Laila also happens to be married to a favorite StoryBeat guest, and someone to whom I owe a great debt of gratitude, the phenomenal actor and singer, Robert Cuccioli, who originated the roles of Henry Jekyll and Edward Hyde in the musical I created with Frank Wildhorn, Jekyll & Hyde.

Thank you for joining us for our 2nd Cabral HouseCall of the weekend!   I'm looking forward to sharing with you some of our community's questions that have come in over the past few weeks…   Mary: Hi Dr. Cabral! I live in Northern NY State. We cannot get any at home lab test except hair sample tests. How accurate are these tests? We also do not have ANY functional medicine practices near us. I have lupus and hashimotos, and my husband and my daughter both have digestive issues. I don't know where to start but I want my family healed. We do eat mostly whole food and organic diet and strength train regularly.     Lina: Hi Dr. Cabral. Thank you so much for all you do to help us maintain good health. I have two questions: 1) After fasting for more than 24 hours, when I eat my first meal, my throat literally hurts when I swallow food. This happens every single time. What could be causing this and what can I do to avoid this discomfort? The pain does goes away after the first meal after fasting. Blessings to you and your team. 2) Will adding beet powder to my electrolytes drink break my fast? Lina     Mark: Hi Stephen it's Mark from Australia. Thankyou so much for your podcast. You have changed my life for the better! I have a lipoma half the size of a golf ball on back of neck, right next to the spine. I have had 3 taken out from the same spot previously but keep growing back. Would there be a cause as to why they grow in the first place? Since close to my spine I'm thinking of taking it out again. What's your opinion on this? Thanks for all your work Stephen. I appreciate you! :)     Natalie: Hi Dr. Cabral, I am 27 and since my periods started, they occur around on a 35-40 day cycle. Is this something you would deem an imbalance that needs to be corrected? I have also suffered with crashes in fatigue for the last three years, do you think the two can be related?     Anonymous: Hello, I was listening to your answer about plant based cheesecake not being the best option for dessert and I am wondering what would you recommend as dessert on a daily basis? Are there any healthy desserts? When should they be eaten and what do you and your family have for dessert? Thanks for all you do!   Thank you for tuning into this weekend's Cabral HouseCalls and be sure to check back tomorrow for our Mindset & Motivation Monday show to get your week started off right!   - - - Show Notes and Resources: StephenCabral.com/3194 - - - Get a FREE Copy of Dr. Cabral's Book: The Rain Barrel Effect - - - Join the Community & Get Your Questions Answered: CabralSupportGroup.com - - - Dr. Cabral's Most Popular At-Home Lab Tests: > Complete Minerals & Metals Test (Test for mineral imbalances & heavy metal toxicity) - - - > Complete Candida, Metabolic & Vitamins Test (Test for 75 biomarkers including yeast & bacterial gut overgrowth, as well as vitamin levels) - - - > Complete Stress, Mood & Metabolism Test (Discover your complete thyroid, adrenal, hormone, vitamin D & insulin levels) - - - > Complete Food Sensitivity Test (Find out your hidden food sensitivities) - - - > Complete Omega-3 & Inflammation Test (Discover your levels of inflammation related to your omega-6 to omega-3 levels) - - - Get Your Question Answered On An Upcoming HouseCall: StephenCabral.com/askcabral - - - Would You Take 30 Seconds To Rate & Review The Cabral Concept?
