Welcome to Pathfinder #0025, brought to you by Spaced Ventures, the planet's first public space investment portal. Today, we'll be talking about what in the world Amazon is up to in space, with someone who can speak to this probably better than almost anyone else on the planet. Clint Crosier served in the US Air Force and Space Force for 33 years, and helped stand up the latter branch. After retiring as a major general, Amazon recruited Clint to lead AWS's Aerospace and Satellites division. AWS is short for Amazon Web Services, which you'll hear a lot in this conversation. For the uninitiated, AWS is the world's leading cloud computing vendor by market share and revenue. In the last calendar year, Amazon's cloud unit made $62 billion, representing a 37% year over year increase over 2020. And it posted an $18 billion operating profit. AWS's Aerospace & Satellites group announced today that it had achieved a first, by running artificial intelligence/machine learning algorithms on a real-life, orbiting satellite. Clint and Ryan unpack the announcement, and also discuss what his team's building, who they're working with, how cloud and space fit together, and a whole lot more. ABOUT US Pathfinder is brought to you by Payload, a modern space media brand built from the ground up for a new age of space exploration and commercialization. We deliver need-to-know news and insights daily to 12,000+ decision-makers across commercial, civil, and military space. Payload began as a weekly newsletter sent to a handful of friends and colleagues. Today, we have three media properties and publish across multiple platforms. Our team is distributed across four time zones and two continents. We aim to inform but also educate and entertain, and we serve a highly concentrated audience of decision-makers in the commercial, civil, and military space sectors. And while we have designs on becoming the biggest space content company in the galaxy, for now, we publish: 1) Payload, our flagship daily newsletter, every Monday to Friday morning 2) Pathfinder, this podcast, on Tuesday mornings 3) ...and

HPJC serves as an action center for peace and justice efforts. According to Crosier, they provide peace education, activism training, and collaborative resources for individuals, families, and organizations throughout the Greater Houston area to build a just, non-violent community. Beyond its importance to our area, HPJC is a leader in collaborative regional work for peace and justice. The work includes advocacy in state legislatures, campaigns to achieve goals such as changing a multinational corporation's behavior and mass mobilizations. One measure of HPJC's centrality to peace and justice work is its ability to call upon the resources of the appropriate organizations, institutions, and individuals both within and outside its membership to promote those policy goals its board places on its own action agenda. It has sufficient human resources to execute its projects, and it is able to turn out appropriate numbers for the public events and the meetings with public officials that it organizes. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/politicsdoneright/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/politicsdoneright/support

Read the complete transcription on the Sales Game Changers Podcast website. JENNIFER'S TIP: "Move forward. You have to keep moving forward. Have that courage to try something new, pivot, change. Just move forward. As long as you keep moving forward, you're going to be okay." CLINT'S TIP: "You succeed only – and I underscore only – when your customers succeed. Pick a customer, sit down with a blank piece of paper and see if you can articulate your customer's top three business priorities. Draw a line and then see if you can articulate the three biggest problems they face to achieve those opportunities. If you can do it, great, you're well on your way to helping your customers solve their hardest problems. If you can't do it, you need to go back and do some more listening and some more investigation about what's important to your customer."

Neal Crosier has been dealing with a lot of change in the last couple of years. He and his wife moved to Central Florida from Chicago for the weather, unsurprisingly. Then, in 2017, the couple opened their business, Popcorn Junkie, in the heart of Orlando’s Parramore neighborhood, an historically black and underserved community. Since opening up their store, Parramore has gone through a lot of changes of its own. More affordable housing has moved into the area, along with restaurants and businesses. At the same time, Crosier and his wife have been working to preserve the history of the area, while continuing to build it up. Then, the Covid-19 Pandemic hit and, like so many other businesses, Crosier was forced to pivot and adapt his business model to stay open. Amid that, the nation has seen a sweeping push for racial justice and equality, bringing a new attention to Black-owned businesses and encouraging an effort to support them. Neal Crosier shares his story with the hosts of Florida Foodie, explaining how Popcorn Junkie came to life and what’s changed for him during the pademic. He also talks about how he is supporting other people who want to start their own businesses. Please, follow our hosts on social media. You can find Candace Campos, on Twitter and Facebook. Lisa Bell is also on Facebook and Twitter and you can check out Lisa’s children’s books, “Norman the Watchful Gnome.”
Link to bioRxiv paper: http://biorxiv.org/cgi/content/short/2020.08.04.235382v1?rss=1 Authors: Chockanathan, u., Crosier, E. J. W., Waddle, S., Lyman, E., Gerkin, R., Padmanabhan, K. Abstract: Neural codes for sensory representations are thought to reside in a broader space defined by the patterns of spontaneous activity that occur when stimuli are not being presented. To understand the structure of this spontaneous activity in the olfactory system, we performed high-density recordings of population activity in the main olfactory bulb of awake mice. We found that spontaneous activity patterns of ensembles of mitral and tufted (M/T) cells in the main olfactory bulb changed dramatically during locomotion, including decreases in pairwise correlations between neurons and increases in the entropy of the population. Maximum entropy models of the ensemble activity revealed that pair-wise interactions were better at predicting patterns of activity when the animal was stationary than while running, suggesting that higher order (3rd, 4th order) interactions between neurons shape activity during locomotion. Taken together, we found that locomotion influenced the structure of spontaneous population activity at the earliest stages of olfactory processing, 1 synapse away from the sensory receptors in the nasal epithelium. This is the second half of an interview with G.C. Dilsaver on his book The Three Marks of Manhood: How to be Priest, Prophet and King of Your Family. Dr. Dilsaver discusses how the Christian husband and father must wield three staves: the scepter of authority, the crosier of co-episcopacy, and the cross of redemption. This last is most important, as the Christian patriarch's mandate is to lead in self-abnegation so that he may decrease and Christ may increase. The measure of his success is not in providing materially for his family but in teaching them by example to love God above all else and to suffer well for His sake. Contents The Scepter of Authority [3:30] Exercising one's authority delegated by God is a duty in obedience and humility—but that means authority is not based on superiority in intelligence, goodness, etc. [7:06] Humiliation in the exercise of authority [10:06] Why modern men run away from their authority [14:10] Christian patriarchy as the greatest bastion against the overreaching State The Crosier of Co-Episcopacy [18:10] A father is his family's spiritual leader and representative/intercessor before God [21:08] The need for an intense prayer life to be a truly engaged and militant Catholic man [23:49] The cloistered home—not to escape the world, but to enter the depth of reality [26:45] The father too must be devoted to the home [28:15] The prophetic role; practical ways of being the priest of the domestic church The Cross of Redemption [36:07] Rebirth in Christ through the experience of weakness and failure [37:58] Danger of father seeing himself mainly as material provider, not teaching family to suffer well [45:15] Critique of “suburban secular Christianity”, the problem with “coping” with reality [49:12] Familial asceticism: poverty, chastity and obedience in the home [57:51] Setting an example in obedience to the Church and, at times, defiance of the State [1:02:38] How the Cross transforms and fulfills romantic love Links The Three Marks of Manhood https://www.tanbooks.com/three-marks-of-manhood-how-to-be-priest-prophet-and-king-of-your-family-2.html Psychomoralitics website http://www.souldeepscience.com/ Psychomoralitics book https://www.amazon.com/Psychomoralitics-Soul-Deep-Alternative-Failed-Professions/dp/099936071X Celebrating God-Given Gender https://www.amazon.com/Celebrating-God-Given-Gender-Masculinity-Femininity/dp/0999360701 This podcast is a production of CatholicCulture.org. KPFT Houston, the little radio station that could has stood as a cultural icon of Houston for nearly half a century against a changing media landscape and dwindling listener-subscribers. Today the 47-year-old station faces a new crisis in a long string of which have plagued the Pacifica network for decades and threatens to take them off the air, this time for good. On the 14th of July, former interim General Manager Dr. Obidike Kamau was terminated by Pacifica Foundation’s Interim Executive Director Bill Crosier after only 90 days on the job, which set the KPFT community ablaze. Crosier cites severe, even existentially threatening financial difficulties as the cause for relieving Dr. Kamau from his position which he held for less than three months. Those in support of Dr. Kamau’s reinstatement however claim racism is the primary motivation for his removal. The Pacifica Foundation owns KPFT and, as of this recording, carries as much as $7 million in debt. What we have in store for you is a series of interviews myself and Annika O’Brien conducted over the past few weeks with a few people who captured our interest with regard to the crisis at KPFT. We did not intend for this to be a comprehensive set of interviews, but did want to talk to a number of people with something of an inside view of the station, historical perspectives, as well as those at the middle of this crisis and to give them the opportunity to say their piece. We’ll almost certainly follow up as time passes and this story develops, but for now we begin with Doyle Odom, former afternoon engineer, with whom I worked on KPFT News, and who is the current host of KPFT’s Radioactive, which airs Monday nights from ten-P-M to midnight. We turn to him for one inside perspective on the Crisis at KPFT.
Come along for the ride with prolific artist Daniel Crosier, here to weave tales and support his Kickstarter for the highly anticipated Show Devils #4. We deftly cross “recording in a repurposed slaughterhouse” off our bucket list all while Dan teaches us the finer points of jump-roping with someone’s intestines. Get out of your parents’ house for the summer and queue up for the bus to Camp Crash, you only get to never grow up once.
WATP is back with a new episode that doesn't sound like complete garbage. We listened to a brand new NPR show that is targeted to... toddlers? grown-ups? nobody? It's hard to say who would want to listen to this clusterfuck of a podcast. One thing is quite obvious, this show is not targeting our guest host Crosier who finds the podcast has a grand total of zero redeeming qualities. Wow in the World is a bad concept that's further hindered by poor execution. We also read a new itunes review; spoiler alert - it's not good.

Rebroadcast of the long running radio program, "The Ave Maria Hour", a presentation of the Franciscan Friars of the Atonement. www.AtonementFriars.org St. Odillia -- About the year 300, Saint Odilia and ten other virgins set out from England on a pilgrimage to the East. By accident or plan the ship in which they sailed went up the Rhine. They were captured by some soldiers and taken to Cologne. There the young women were killed in defense of their Christian faith and their purity. St. Odilia's future role as the Patroness of the Order of the Holy Cross is pictured by the Crosier standard and her motto, "I have chosen the cross."
