I think it's important to have a high-level perspective of what your organization is going to see and that you might need to answer questions about.” — Hilary Tuttle “The amount that a risk manager can do is sometimes kind of limited. And so, trying to limit some of the coverage to what is actionable and what is relevant to the specific audience is really where we draw that line [with Risk Management Magazine].” — Hilary Tuttle “As ERM concepts … start becoming more standard, I think it expands both what risk managers have to do and, in turn, what we have to cover [in Risk Management Magazine.] Hilary used the word ‘more,' and I think ‘more' really is the defining trait of 2022.” — Morgan O'Rourke

Unfortunately, many building owners and operators today have a common misconception that their properties are sufficiently covered if a cyberattack were to occur.

We dive into cybersecurity insurance and protection as our own J.D. Miller sits down with Justin Daniels, technology and cybersecurity counsel at Baker Donalson. Justin recently spoke at our CDM Media CIO/CISO Atlanta summit as he discussed cybersecurity as a strategic business enterprise risk. Stealing intellectual property and threatening to download it on the dark web is just the latest iteration of cybercrime that keeps the c-suite up at night. It is all but inevitable that your organization will face a cyber incident due to our reliance on data and technology. Justin Daniels, a technology and cybersecurity attorney, joins us to talk about the need for good communication as the decision-makers face tough business decisions based on incomplete facts under time pressure.
We're back! James and Blake are back at it, and our next episode needs to be on how not to lose the flash-drive with all your episodes on it!Today the guys are breaking down the process of cybersecurity insurance vetting and application. These application forms tend to come with a lot of questions that most outside of IT or business process management cant answer. James and Blake have been answering at least 2 of these forms a month for the last few years. Tune in and see how they can help you get that form filled out and off your to-do list!
Jim and Attorney Peter Halprin from Pasich, LLP discuss the ins and outs of Cybersecurity Insurance and Litigation. We cover a wide range of topics with a focus on what private equity leaders need to know about these issues, including: why private equity leaders should treat attacks as inevitabilities, how cyber insurance can provide breach response support and financial protection against cyber risks, and how companies may be able to find coverage under other policies for cyberattacks, including crime, kidnap and ransom, property, and technology errors and omissions.
In Episode 8 of the Barclay Damon Live Cyber Sip Podcast, Kevin welcomes Kelly Geary, national executive risk and cyber practice leader of Epic Insurance Brokers & Consultants, for a conversation about the “State of the Market—Cybersecurity Insurance.” Kelly, a recognized leader in cyber insurance, shares a little history as well as practical takeaways that listeners can benefit from when shopping the market for cyber insurance. While there are many policies out there, Kevin and Kelly explain, there is little standardization. And with quickly changing risks and the increasing demand, finding coverage can be challenging. When I first heard about a cybersecurity company, CloudCover, using their security technology to build a cybersecurity insurance platform on blockchain, I was fascinated by the intersection of technologies and what this might mean for healthcare organizations. Plus, I really wanted to better understand more about the future of cybersecurity insurance and what technologies and solutions could help. For those that don't follow cybersecurity insurance closely, I've talked to many healthcare CIOs that are afraid that cybersecurity insurance may disappear. Insurance is all about risk and actuarial models are hard with so many security breaches happening. It's definitely reasonable to question what the future of cybersecurity insurance will look like in healthcare. Given CloudCover's recent announcement, I sat down with Stephen Cardot, Founder and CEO at CloudCover, to learn more about their novel approach and what it could mean for the cybersecurity insurance industry. Cardot shared with us some of the challenges the security insurance industry faces and how they're approaching insurance today. Then, he describes the patents they've received to be able to identify, score, lay off, and underwrite security risks at a granular level and all on the blockchain. This is a dramatic change to the underwriting process. In some ways, I see it has creating thousands of little insurance policies for your organization and all stored on the immutable blockchain. Cyber Incidents, Cybersecurity Insurance, and SMBs. Host Karl interviewed Ron Pelletier from Pondurance. Pondurance is a cybersecurity incident response organization. Ron is the original Founder of Pondurance, having started the company from his basement in 2008. Ron has over 25 years of cyber security advisory experience. He started his career as an officer in the US Army, followed by nine years with Big Four firm, EY. As a strong consensus builder and customer advocate, Ron is focused on evangelizing the Pondurance brand as well as customer success. There are many kinds of cyber attacks. What's the right incident response for each of these? What are the roles of monitoring as well as actual response? Additional Relevant Cyber insurance policy prices are skyrocketing due to the increase in ransomware attacks. With that higher price comes less coverage. Add to that, more companies are applying for cyber insurance than there is funding. When demand exceeds availability, you get increased rates, and that's happening universally. To better your chances for being approved for cyber insurance, it's best to know why companies are denied cyber insurance in the first place, how they can be better prepared for the application process, and what to do to prepare for the years to come. Landon would like to discuss preventive measures small businesses can take to address questions that cyber insurance carriers have added to their underwriting questionnaires, as well as simple and cost-effective ways for organizations to reduce your cyber risk.
