The Podcast Mentor Donna Eade, is the latest guest on the Business Awards Show. She joined us to talk about her passion: podcasting. It has led her to host her Mindset and Action podcast, that celebrates its fifth birthday in April. A former wedding photographer, Donna set up The Society of Wedding Vendors in 2020 to help all stakeholders in the wedding industry. At the same time she started a podcast about weddings. Unfortunately, the pandemic stifled opportunities for her new business and she admits some serious mistakes when she started the podcast. However, the experience helped her start a new podcast, Mindset and Action, and this time she did things the right way. Having a proper launch, thinking about SEO, getting the audio right, were all essential in creating a successful new venture. During our discussion, Donna gives her take on advertising in your podcast, how to be one of only 1% who make it past 21 episodes, and the four pillars of podcast success. She provides some fascinating statistics, and explains why podcasters need to keep a continual eye on their figures. In addition, she talks in some detail about the best way to monetise a podcast. As an award winner, Donna expands on the credibility awards have brought her business. She has found entering the Shining Stars awards over recent years a brilliant way to review her personal and business achievements over the previous twelve months, something she would never do otherwise. This is the perfect episode for anyone thinking of starting or having just launched a podcast. There is so much to help you on your way. Meanwhile, Donna's energy, enthusiasm, and knowledge will definitely inspire you and offer vital resources to support your journey. {2:00} Why Donna started a podcast. {4:29} Mindset & Action - what it's about and it's ideal guests. {6:42} The podcast's fifth birthday. {8:18} Running a live podcast discussion. {10:11} The importance of analysing podcast stats. {12:19} Advertising in podcasts. {14:50} How to start a podcast. {16:08} The commitment of runnign a podcast. {18:35} Indy podcasts. {20:23} How winning awards brings credibility. {22:20} Donna's podcast mentorship. {24:47} Can old podcasts be rebooted. {27:20} How many podcasts end up in the bin?

At the end of 2004, the Western Bulldogs made the decision to appoint Rodney Eade as its next senior coach. Taking a side that had managed consecutive bottom-three finishes, Eade moulded them into a thorough, goal-scoring machine, whose attacking, gung-ho style of play took the competition by storm for the rest of the decade. His record as coach of the club is up there with the very best we've ever had. 3rd-most games coach, 3rd-most wins, his 11 finals is second only to Luke Beveridge, and he is the only man to guide the club to three consecutive top-4 finishes.

Link to bioRxiv paper: http://biorxiv.org/cgi/content/short/2022.12.23.521829v1?rss=1 Authors: Usui-Ouchi, A., Giles, S., Mills, E. A., Ouchi, Y., Friedlander, M., Eade, K. T. Abstract: In the retina, microglia are resident immune cells that are essential for retinal development and function. Retinal microglia play a central role in mediating pathological degeneration in diseases such as glaucoma, retinitis pigmentosa, age-related neurodegeneration, ischemic retinopathy and diabetic retinopathy. Current models of mature human retinal organoids (ROs) derived from iPS cell (hiPSC) do not contain resident microglia integrated into retinal layers. Increasing cellular diversity in ROs by including resident microglia would more accurately represent the native retina and better model diseases in which microglia play a key role. In this study, we develop a new 3D in vitro tissue model of microglia-containing retinal organoids by co-culturing ROs and hiPSC-derived macrophage precursor cells (MPCs). We optimized the parameters for successful integration of MPCs into retinal organoids. We then reproducibly integrate MPCs into ROs where they develop into mature microglia (iMG) as seen by 1) migration to the appropriate anatomical locations; 2) development of a mature resting morphology; and 3) expression of mature microglial markers. We show that while in the ROs, MPCs migrate to the equivalent of the outer plexiform layer where retinal microglia cells reside in healthy retinal tissue. While there, they develop a mature morphology characterized by small cell bodies and long branching processes which is only observed in vivo. During this maturation process these microglia cycle through an activated phase followed by a stable mature phase characterized by cell-type specific microglia markers Tmem119 and P2ry12. This co-culture system may be useful for understanding the pathogenesis of retinal diseases involving retinal microglia and for drug discovery. Copy rights belong to original authors. Tassie footy legend 'Rocket' Eade joins the show.
Jarrad Grant is a former AFL player who played 81 games for the Western Bulldogs and 14 games for the Gold Coast Suns, booting 94 goals across his 10 year career. Jarrad talks about the ups and downs of being in the AFL system from the highs of being drafted at pick 5 and kicking 6 goals in a game, to the lows of being delisted and the rawness of that feeling. Jarrad is a bloody funny bloke though and this podcast was full of laughs. He shared some of the great Rodney 'Rocket' Eade sprays (including the one that has been doing the rounds on social media over the past couple of years), the prank Barry Hall played on him that you won't believe and the infamous Triple M interview that sparked him into a cult figure across the AFL when Garry Lyon dropped the nickname “Microphone Head”. Jarrad shared one particular story that we couldn't believe that happened at the mid way point of a season. Your ears will prick up when you hear this one involving coach Brendon McCartney. We talked about pre season camps, playing alongside superstars like Gary Ablett Jnr, the Bulldogs Premiership win of 2016 and so much more. So sit back, laugh and enjoy our chat with Son of the West, Jarrad Grant. Dr. Heather Eade is a naturopathic physician, specializing in integrative medicine in Dubai. On this episode of the podcast, she unpacks one of the most common disorders plaguing women today, polycystic ovary syndrome, and offers a refreshingly different take on the treatment of PCOS.
Following a decorated career in the VFL, Rodney Eade would make the transition to the coaches box with relative ease. Stints as an assistant coach at Brisbane and North Melbourne would be followed by the senior coaching job at the Sydney Swans in 1996. In his first year at Sydney Eade was able to transform the Swans into a premiership threat, with his side playing off in the '96 Grand Final. After 152 games at the helm of the Swans, Eade's time in the harbour city came to an end as the axe came swinging his way. With the Western Bulldog searching for a coach at the end of 2004, Eade would find his way to the Whitten Oval where he would lead a talented side to three consecutive preliminary finals. In late 2014, Eade was appointed coach of the AFL's expansion team on the Gold Coast taking over from Guy McKenna. Eade's time at the Suns was stormy at best and by the end of his third season, his contract would not be renewed. In this episode Eade opens up about his sackings at Sydney and Gold Coast, coaching the legendary Tony Lockett in Sydney and dealing with Jason Akermanis at the Western Bulldogs See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
A legend of the Apple Isle, Rodney Eade was recruited to Hawthorn from Glenorchy in 1975. At Hawthorn Eade established himself as a dashing wingman, playing a part in four VFL Premierships with the Hawks. After 229 games at Glenferrie Oval, Eade crossed to the Brisbane Bears in 1988 - a move which would be the genesis for Eade's future coaching career. In this episode Eade opens up about the heartbreak of being dropped for the 1985 Grand FInal, the golden era at Hawthorn under John Kennedy, David Parkin and Allan Jeans and the chaos and challenges faced by the fledgling Brisbane Bears. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Rodney ‘Rocket' Eade's AFL journey has been unique. Eade won four flags during a dynastic Hawthorn Hawks era, was a foundation member of the Brisbane Bears, travelled to Sydney for his first senior coaching gig, and oversaw the renaissance of the Western Bulldogs before coaching the expansion Gold Coast Suns. And that's not even mentioning that Will Minson spray! After 259 games as a player and 377 as a coach, he tells Inside 50 hosts Shane Crawford and Nick Quinn some of his greatest stories, including coaching the polarising approaches of Tony ‘Plugger' Lockett and Gary Ablett Jr. While the Tasmania-born Eade is all for his home state being granted a license in the AFL, he says the start-up franchise will face some significant challenges from the NBL and the Tasmania JackJumpers.
Matt Stewart chats racing, Stevo is in with the footy news, plus 'Rocket' Eade shares his take on the Bombers' woes.
FIVEaa Breakfast regular Ryan Fitzgerald tells David & Will about the time Crows coach Matthew Nicks copped a blast when they were both playing at the Sydney Swans under Rodney ‘Rocket' Eade. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

On today's episode, Andrew speaks with premier vocalist, composer, and educator Dominique Eade. Eade is an amazing musician with an impressive and glorious discography, and has been described by the press as being a flawless jazz vocalist with a pure tone. She is also someone who deeply values her role as an educator (many of her students describe her as a “master teacher”). At the time of recoridng, Dominique said of her students, “at this time of year, I think of all the amazing New England Conservatory (NEC) students who are graduating and imagine what they will be up to in the years to come. … While I am deeply dedicated to teaching and proud of the work I do, I am especially honored to be part of an institution that fosters such depth of musicianship and creativity, and forges life-long bonds between students who go on to be collaborators and co-conspirators in their artistic lives after NEC.” This wonderful episode of Constant Constance dives deep into what it means to be an artist and teacher, and in our happily biased opinion, is not one to miss. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/andrew-norman-dangelo/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/andrew-norman-dangelo/support
