So much so that she hired them to tour with her as opening act and backing band. That band, The Grascals, went on to score two IBMA Entertainer of the Year awards, 20 SPBGMA awards, and two Grammy nominations. Founding member, Danny Roberts, joins us on this edition of Americana Music Profiles to talk about their 20 year run as a band, their 20 year anniversary tour, and their latest album, 20. Myers, Bob Dylan, Steve Forbert, Chris Isaak, Andrew Gold, Richie Furay, Brenda Lee, Emmylou Harris, Rosanne Cash, The Grascals y Dolly Parton. Escuchar audio

THE CARTER FAMILY are considered the most influential group in country music history. Comprised of a gaunt, shy gospel quartet member named Alvin P. Carter and two reserved country girls -- his wife, Sara, and their sister-in-law, Maybelle -- the Carter Family sang a pure, simple harmony that influenced not only the numerous other family groups of the '30s and the '40s, but folk, bluegrass, and rock musicians like Woody Guthrie, Bill Monroe, the Kingston Trio, Doc Watson, Bob Dylan, and Emmylou Harris, to mention just a few. Among the more than 300 sides they recorded are "Worried Man Blues," "Wabash Cannonball," "Will the Circle Be Unbroken," "Wildwood Flower," and "Keep on the Sunny Side." This WoodSongs Special Event Broadcast will be celebrating the Legacy of the Carter Family. Featuring... JOHN CARTER CASH, having been involved in music all his life, is an accomplished and award winning record producer. However, his activities inthe creative world reach far beyond just music production. He is also a singer-songwriter, and author. DALE JETT is a native of Southwest Virginia and is a third generation member of the legendary Carter Family. WoodSongs Kid: Jaelee Roberts is a Tennessee girl that was born with bluegrass in her blood. She performs on WoodSongs with her dad, Danny, the mandolin player for The Grascals.
The Grascals have been putting out incredible bluegrass music for years, so it’s no surprise they try to push the boundaries with each new project. “When I Get My Pay” is the latest release from the group, which also features a few special guests, like Dierks Bentley on the track “American Pickers.” We caught up with the Grascals at the album release party to celebrate that new project
The Grascals have had a busy year already, and we're only into April. In 2013 so far, they've been honored with SPBGMA awards, Grammy nominations, and a performance at one of President Obama's inaugural events. We had a chance to catch up with them backstage at the Grand Ole Opry to talk about their year so far, and what we can expect from them later this year.
We kick off another Inside Music Row with the king of country music - George Strait. His current single "Give It All We Got Tonight" has already hit number one making it the fastest rising single in his career. He is currenly in the middle of his farewell tour "The Cowboy Rides Away." Up next is bluegrass duo The Roys as they are getting geared up for the annual Christmas For Kids program with their second annual Celebrity Golf Tournament. If you want to tee off with them, there is still time to sign up your team online at Christmas4Kids.org. We hear from Lady Antebellum next as they will help launch the AT&T U-verse Fan Fair "X" at the new Music City Center during this summer's CMA Music Festival. Finally, we go Inside The Song with Kip Moore to hear about his song "Beer Money" which he took all the way to number one.
In the last segment, we talked to Bill Anderson and Mandy Barnett about the event commemorating the lives of Patsy Cline, Hawkshaw Hawkins, aCowboy Copas, and pilot Randy Hughes. This 50th anniversary brought together many friends and family members who still mourn the loss of their loved ones. We'll continue our feature on this special event with Jean Shepard and the Grascals.
The Grascals are arguably one of the biggest groups in bluegrass music, given their many wins at the IBMA Awards and other high profile events. With a new record label in the Mountain Home Music Company, they've wasted no time in putting out another incredible album..."Life Finds A Way." While it might be a little more county than some of their past albums, this surely will satisfy their die-hard fans. Here's Kelly at a special listening party for the release of that new album.
This month's Academy of Country Music Awards took Las Vegas by storm, with country artists everywhere! We were able to talk to many of them on their way into the big show on the red carpet. Here's Kelly Lynn at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Vegas.

Georgia-based bluegrass ensemble, Mountain Heart has been fearlessly revolutionizing the way acoustic music can be presented and played. Widely known throughout the music industry for constantly redefining the cutting edge, the band has gained legions of fans both as a result of their incredible musicianship and their exciting live performances. As one of the most highly awarded ensembles ever assembled, Mountain Heart, or members of the band, have won numerous Grammys, ACM, CMA, and IBMA Awards. They have appeared on the revered stage of the Grand Ole Opry in excess of 100 times and have shared the stage with everyone from Lynyrd Skynyrd, Montgomery Gentry, Merle Haggard, and Brad Paisley, to Alison Krauss, Yonder Mountain Stringband, LeAnn Rimes, and Patty Loveless. Leading the charge in taking acoustic music to the masses, Mountain Heart deftly combines elements of rock, jamband, blues, jazz, and bluegrass into a high-energy sound that is at once fresh, accessible, and unmistakeable. Paraphrased from a Country Weekly review of their latest recording: "Comprised of six young men who have collectively woven an impressive list of credits (working with Carrie Underwood, Ricky Skaggs, Merle Haggard, Dolly Parton and others), their sound hails more from the Southern-rock core of Georgia or the blues- drenched Louisiana bayou than the hills of Kentucky....this band's mix of country, bluegrass, blues and rock should fit comfortably beside newgrass contemporaries such as The Infamous Stringdusters and The Grascals."
DOYLE LAWSON & QUICKSILVER are one of Bluegrass' most honored and revered masters. He got his start in bluegrass music in 1963 when he played banjo for Jimmy Martin. In 1966, he started working with JD Crowe in Lexington, KY where he played guitar and later switched to mandolin. In 1971, Doyle formed his own band, Quicksilver. This award winning ensemble has picked up the IBMA Award for best vocal group an unprecedented seven years in a row. Doyle is also the recipient of the National Endowment for the Arts' National Heritage Fellowship, the Endowment's highest honor granted to traditional and folk artists for career accomplishments. He and his band are back to introduce songs from their new album called 'Drive Time' on Crossroads Music. KIDS OF BLUEGRASS! Here are three young musicians that are rising stars in the bluegrass community. Daniel Patrick is a 16 year old banjo player and plays in his family band with his 13 year old sister, Samantha, who plays mandolin. Both started playing music at a very early age, and their group has performed at many Bluegrass festivals, churches, and community events. Kyle Ramey is 9 and is a hot shot mandolin player. He has already shared the stage with bluegrass legends like Daily & Vincent, The Grascals and JD Crowe. Daniel, Samantha &" Kyle will be performing together to show the incredible talent of the next generation of bluegrass of musicians.
Have you ever wondered if one of America's classic television series had a great bluegrass soundtrack what it might sound like? Beyond that, who would record this instant musical classic? Wonder no more because the Grascals have a new CD release inspired by the Andy Griffith Show's Fiftieth Anniversary called, "Dance 'Til Your Stockings Are Hot and Ravelin". Lance Yelvington talks backstage at the Opry with Terry Eldredge and Terry Smith of the Grascals in this CyberCountry Minute about reruns, great music and Mayberry.
