Até domingo (6), o Brasil é destaque nas telas do cinema em Paris e arredores. O festival Brésil en Mouvements (Brasil em Movimentos), um dos mais importantes de documentários sobre o país na Europa, ocupa duas salas de projeção, com muitas temáticas diferentes. A RFI conversou com participantes sobre o cinema negro e indígena, mas as produções abordam, também, a violência policial, o desmatamento da Amazônia, a luta pela terra, 60 anos da ditadura, direito ao aborto, entre outros assuntos.  Maria Paula Carvalho, da RFI em Paris O evento que começou no sábado (28) apresenta curtas, longas-metragens e debates sobre as questões sociais, políticas, culturais e as lutas da sociedade brasileira contemporânea. Muitos deles são inéditos, dirigidos por cineastas renomados ou novos talentos, como Davidson Candanda, de “Crônicas de uma jovem família preta” (2023).O filme mostra o cotidiano de Hellena, uma dançarina, Lucas, um barman, e o filho deles, Dom. Mesmo com poucos recursos, os pais decidem organizar uma festa de aniversário para o menino.  “Para uma família simples como a deles, que está começando uma vida juntos, existe um custo para se fazer esta festa. E por mais simples que seja, pode não ser acessível a todos e isso, de alguma forma, joga luz e a gente pode fazer uma reflexão a partir disso da imensa desigualdade presente na sociedade brasileira”, explica. O documentário é o quarto filme do cineasta carioca, que veio a Paris com apoio do Ministério da Cultura (MinC), através de um intercâmbio para a circulação e participação audiovisual no exterior. “Eu sou um cineasta do cinema negro brasileiro. O cinema negro brasileiro é uma cinematografia composta por filmes de cineastas pretos e protagonizado por pessoas pretas”, define. “É um tipo de cinema que tem um compromisso com o antirracismo por meio da produção de histórias que fogem dos estereótipos”, continua. “O filme é um documentário, eu classifico como um documentário, mas em muitas cenas, a família está reencenando eventos que aconteceram”, diz.  Premiado no Festival Visões Periféricas 2024, ocorrido em março, no Rio de Janeiro, “Crônicas de uma jovem família preta” foi exibido na França, juntamente com outros títulos, na mostra Vozes do Cinema Afro-brasileiro. A sessão foi apresentada pela diretora e pesquisadora Leila Xavier.Em entrevista à RFI, ela explica a importância dessa temática. “Historicamente, esse segmento sempre foi mostrado no cinema de forma bastante pejorativa, onde os negros desempenhavam papéis subalternos, ou caricatos, ou como bandidos, ladrões. Então, o filme do Davidson mostra o cotidiano de uma família como qualquer família pobre, mas sem este estereótipo. Mostra uma família que sonha, que corre atrás para ganhar a vida, mas que se ama, uma vida normal”, diz. “Mas também tem um trabalho muito grande que esses dois jovens tiveram com o filho no sentido de elevar a autoestima falando para o menino que ele é bonito”, conta. “Porque normalmente na nossa realidade, as crianças já começam a ser bombardeadas desde a escola. E de alguns anos para cá, felizmente, em função da força do movimento negro brasileiro, essa realidade tem mudado”.  Leila destaca a boa recepção do filme na França. Para ela, a questão do racismo é comum a muitos países. “A gente vê que essa questão do racismo ainda é muito latente em diversas partes do mundo. Então, por isso eu acho que essas duas realidades conversam muito, da França contemporânea com a do Brasil, em que o racismo sempre existiu. O Brasil já nasce com essa questão”, completa.  As sessões do Festival Brésil en Mouvements acontecem no cinema L'Écran, de Saint-Denis, na periferia norte da capital francesa e no cinema Les 7 Parnassiens, no bairro de Montparnasse, em Paris, onde foi realizada a cerimônia de abertura, na noite desta quinta-feira (3). A sessão de abertura teve o longa-metragem “A Transformação de Canuto”, uma cooperação entre os cineastas Ariel Kuaray Ortega e Ernesto de Carvalho, que veio a Paris para um debate, na ocasião, em parceria com o Museu dos Povos Indígenas do Brasil.    O longa conta a história de um homem com uma doença espiritual conhecida para os Mbyá-Guarani, a da transformação em onça, uma condição perigosa que pode acometer algumas pessoas. Rodado na fronteira entre a Argentina e o Rio Grande do Sul, o filme acompanha Ariel na encenação da metamorfose de Canuto em onça, com participação da comunidade indígena Mbyá-Guarani. Em entrevista à RFI, Ernesto de Carvalho falou sobre a recepção internacional do filme. "Considerando a circulação internacional do filme neste primeiro ano, a gente tem encontrado uma resposta muito positiva na França, com espaços muto ricos de debate e de muito acolhimento para o filme", diz. "Estar no Brasil em Movimentos é uma culminância, um momento de aprofundamento e de celebração do fato do que significa a gente fazer um filme brasileiro que tem circulado bem na França", comemora.  Outro destaque da programação é a sessão especial do longa-metragem “Viajo porque preciso, volto porque te amo” (2009), do cineasta pernambucano Marcelo Gomes. Ele também está em Paris para a exibição do filme, em que divide a direção com Karim Aïnouz. O longa-metragem conta a missão do geólogo José Renato no sertão brasileiro e o encontro com seus habitantes. Ao longo da viagem de um mês, as aventuras se misturam com lembranças de um grande amor.  Marcelo Gomes já assinou longas de sucesso de crítica e de público como: “Cinema, Aspirinas e Urubus”, de 2005; “O Homem das multidões”, de 2013; ou “Joaquim”, de 2017. Our guest for this episode is Hellena Jang. Hellena is an improviser, instructor and agile coach in Seoul, Korea, as well as the founder of Imfrog - likely the first Korean language improv troupe on the Korean peninsula. She was introduced to improv through Seoul City Improv, an English language troupe established by ex-pats in the city. That experience led to perhaps one of the most intense deep dives into improv - a couple of extended, immersive journeys that Hellena took to learn about a great many of the North American improv schools, traditions and communities - that helped shape the force of improv that is Hellena Jang. In this episode, we talk about that journey, a bit about the European and Asian festival scene, leading in improv, her pioneering work, and the Korean language and culture and improv. The Indonesian media is heavily politicised. Many TV stations are owned by political power brokers or party leaders. During elections, these ownership structures place significant restrictions on the independence of journalists and media freedom more broadly. But how exactly do media bosses interfere in the daily lives of Indonesian journalists? What forms of intimidation do journalists face? And what are the implications of Jokowi’s victory for the Indonesian media? In today’s podcast, Dr Dirk Tomsa discusses these and other questions with Hellena Souisa, a former journalist and PhD candidate at the University of Melbourne’s Asia Institute.
