Motos and Friends is powered by the Yamaha R7. The R7 is part of Yamaha's R World, and the R7 is your gateway to a new generation of supersport machine. In our first segment, Editor Don Williams checks out the new Honda Rebel 1100T with the DCT gearbox. This is a different kind of cruiser; it certainly has some sportiness to it, and with a nod to touring with small bags and a fairing, it's easily capable of day-long rides too. In our second segment, Associate Editor Teejay Adams talks to A-list Hollywood stuntman, Joe Bucaro. Joe has spent nearly 40 years riding and crashing motorcycles; drifting and crashing cars, and stage-fighting as the stunt double for many of your favorite action stars. Remember the Harley jump by Schwarznegger in Terminator 2? Yep, that's him. Joe has also doubled extensively for Gerard Butler in most of his movies; Jason Mamoa in the upcoming ‘Fast and Furious 10'; and also for stars such as Chris Pratt, Vince Vaughan, Steven Seagal and countless others. In Butler's latest movie ‘The Plane' Joe tells us about a two-and-a-half minute fight sequence that they managed to shoot in just one, complete take. Joe's fearlessness and incredible talents on a motorcycle, in a car, on a horse, and of course his fighting skills, have kept him kinda safe over the years, and still doing what he loves. This chat is a fascinating and entertaining peek behind the curtain into Hollywood and the fun of making movies. So, from all of us here at Motos and Friends—we hope you enjoy this episode! Fast and Furious action unit director Spiro Razatos shares rags to riches story and how seeing the movie Shaft at age 11 inspired him on his path to becoming a Hollywood Stuntman. Apple Podcasts users full show notes here: https://languageofcreativity.podbean.com/e/spiro-razatos-friendslikefamily-fastandfurious-action Spiro Razatos began his career as a stunt man and quickly worked his way into the Directors Guild of America just by asking. Somehow, on the spot producers gave him his very first sequence directing a car chase! Since then Razatos has 2nd Unit Directed major films such as Venom, Bad Boys II and Bad Boys For Life, films in The Fast and The Furious franchise (Fast Five, Fast & Furious 6, Furious 7, Fate of the Furious, F9), and Captain America Winter Soldier, to name a few. From Denver, Colorado and the son of Greek immigrants, young Spiro began training himself to be a stuntman after a fateful day when his dad took him on a Greyhound to visit the zoo. His father, who was also blind had saved for six months for the trip, but they never made it to the zoo. Eleven year old Razatos saw the marquee for the movie Shaq and begged his father to take him to see it… that day. “I started crying and said I don't know, I just need to see it now.” He practiced jumping off of roofs (don't try this at home) and crashing his own bicycles until he was finally able to get a Super Eight movie camera. He'd managed to get his home-made stunt reel onto the set of Heart to Heart, when legendary stunt coordinators Mike Vendrell and Greg Barnett finally called him and told him they would help him come to Hollywood. In this episode we talk about the magic of visual storytelling, the importance of shooting practical stunts and how CG (computer generated elements) can totally ruin the believability of a sequence, why Spiro always hires his own editor (the one he's had his whole career) spending hours at the end of every shooting day to present the sequence to the studio. We talk about his work/life balance and yearly trips to the “ashram” to detox. But most importantly Spiro highlights the importance of having a team of people you know and trust with your life. His stunt team, Team Malaka has been with him for over 30 years, oh yeah, and of course we talk about his favorite “team building activity” playing Call of Duty 2. Kortel Autrey is a Hollywood Stuntman that is on the rise! You've seen his work in Straight out of Compton, Bad Boys for Life, Gemini Man, Charm City Kings, Fast and Furious - Hobbies and Shaw, commercials, awards shows and music videos. This all comes from humble beginnings and the desire to create a better life. In this episode we discuss his journey originating in the inner-city of Los Angeles; South Central/Watts to working on feature films. He was exposed to bikes when he was 4 years old by his father. At the time,He thought bikes were just recreational fun. He didn't realize my father used bikes as a motivational tool to keep him on a righteous path.. As an adult, he now understands the detrimental effects of the crack epidemic. His father, mother and grandmother were all instrumental in him becoming the man I am today. The phrase, “It takes a village to raise a child” is an understatement in the “hood”. As a youth, he developed a passion for peddle bikes, BMX bikes, motorcycles, dirt bikes riding moto and stunting in the streets. Growing up in the inner-city riding dirt bikes was not as tangible to his community at the time. Due to the lack of resources, people of color are not exposed to the same opportunities as others. Also in the episode Kortel discusses the role of community and how through the love of bike culture he helped create their own. Taking to the streets he and his friends developed stunt riding on another level. He was able to master the skill which helped him develop respect and relationships with different neighborhoods and gangs. At a young age he was very aware that the ability to stunt ride could be something truly awesome; something his community needs to help mend its brokenness. He began to teach his peers how to ride and stunt ride hosting street rides to help unify gangs in our neighborhoods. That's where the concept “Bikes Over Bang'n” was developed and his non profit was born. This week we are excited to welcome Gabe Nunez to talk about the adventure of Parkour, Freerunning and performing Hollywood STUNTS. www.tempestacademy.com/ http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2951500/ "Gabe Nunez is a Professional Stuntman and founder of Tempest Freerunning and the Tempest Freerunning Academy in Los Angeles, California. Born and raised in El Paso, Texas Gabe was involved in almost every traditional sport available to him. In Highschool his love for basketball turned into a love for break-dancing that eventually led to Martial Arts, Tricking and Gymnastics. After moving to Las Cruces, NM for college he quickly realized his passion was for any and all types of movement. Having graduated with a Bachelors degree in criminal justice, all he could think about was those Jackie Chan movies he grew up watching, so he decided to put one career on hold in order to chase a new possibility of becoming a Hollywood Stuntman. In 2007 Gabe moved to Los Angeles California and quickly began learning the ropes while pushing his Freerunning skills to new heights. His first film was Adam Sandler's You Don't Mess With the Zohan, and since then he has had the amazing opportunity to work on films such as Expendables, Total Recall, Battleship, Ted, After Earth, 300: Rise of an Empire, and most recently doubling Taylor Laughtner in the film Tracers. His favorite being Total Recall where he doubled Colin Farrell on the film and performed a large variety of stunts ranging from fights and falls to wire work and parkour. Since he started he has had the privilege of working with some of Hollywoods best Stuntmen and Women as well as train some big name actors such as Jaden Smith, Jennifer Lawrence, Jessica Biel, Colin Farrell, Taylor Laughtner, Izabella Miko, and Marie Avgeropolous. It's safe to say Gabe has enjoyed the every moment up to this point. Happy as a clam but ready to go HAM, Gabe eagerly awaits the next one!"
