The key to success is taking charge. Whether you’re an entrepreneur or an employee, you have to take full responsibility for everything you think, say, and do. That is the only way to show up, step up, and live up to this one-and-only life you’ve been given. I'm honored to have my friend Ann Vertel on the show today to talk more about this. Ann is a motivational psychologist, retired Naval Officer, and high-performance speaker, trainer, coach, and consultant. After retiring from a 20-year career in the military and getting a doctorate in psychology, Ann began coaching women leaders in high-performance skills. From there, she fell in love with watching women transform and succeed. In this episode, Ann and I are discussing her transition to her new career. She helps us understand the changes she had to make in both her mindset and skills. We'll dive deeper into these concepts: The mindset changes Ann made when going from the military to the coaching industry. The mindset changes women, in particular, have to make when transitioning out of the corporate world. How Ann explained her value to others when she first started coaching. How her listening skills have developed. The importance of personal leadership. Other skills Ann has developed since starting her business. The people that helped her through her transition. Why community and collaboration are so important and powerful. Why you should only work with those who have the same values as you. How Ann structures her days as an entrepreneur. If you lost all of your potential clients overnight, would you have a way to make money? Ann and her husband found themselves in this situation. Due to a change in the law, Ann Sieg’s auto glass company sales dropped from $90k per month to $2k per month. Ann doubled down on her side-hustle and decided to make Amazon retail her new focus. Thirteen years later Ann now teaches others how to build a retail empire on Amazon. Listen in on Amplify Your Success Podcast episode 226 as Ann reveals how to tap into the mega buyers on this popular platform and make good money. Be sure to join the conversation in the Amplify Your Authority Group. Key Takeaways What an e-commerce business is. How Ann and her husband got started in their Amazon business. Understanding the e-commerce marketing continuum and its use in amplifying profits. The three pillars of e-commerce success - cash flow, systems and team - and how these three pillars make an Amazon business successful. How Ann uses a simple system to transform Amazon into an automated cash machine for her clients. About The Guest Ann Sieg is the author of three widely acclaimed books on how to attract customers online and generated over 4.2 million in sales from her first e-book over 13 years ago. This all as a result of Ann and her husband losing their auto glass business almost overnight due to a new state law. Ann took her little “side-hustle” business and doubled-down…taking her sales from 2K per month to 90K per month in three months’ time. It was more than enough to bring her husband home. She went on to build an online empire… network marketing, info marketing, affiliate marketing, creating and selling her own products… Ann did it all… to the tune of $20 million+ in sales. Ann’s training has impacted hundreds of thousands of people worldwide to achieve online success all while working from home. But nothing has matched the rapid success of her e-commerce students. It’s not uncommon for them to see cash flow in the first few days or weeks of starting their businesses. And others have achieved 6, 7, and even 8 figure incomes – many through her free training alone. Ann is passionate to help 1000 people make $10,000 a month and build their own family economy working from home. Ann Johnson Stewart has been the president of Professional Engineering Services since its inception in October 1995. For over 20 years PES has provided civil engineering services to many large and small clients in the state of Minnesota. Ann's experience and connections in the field of materials testing and civil engineering are what have enabled the firm to consistently grow throughout the years. Ann has been an instructor in the Civil Engineering Department at the University of Minnesota (Minneapolis campus) for 22 years. She was the Faculty Director of the Construction Management program for 15 years, ending her tenure in that position to focus on her role at PES in June of 2015. Ann graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville with a degree in Civil Engineering in 1986, and received her Master's of Civil Engineering from the University of Minnesota -Twin Cities in 1994. Ann is a member of DBIA Upper Midwest, the WTS, APWA, and the Minnesota Surveyors and Engineers Society. What you'll learn about in this episode: Ann's life as an entrepreneur in civil engineering Why Ann decided to run for the state senate How Ann is juggling a run for office, managing her business, and taking care of her family at home during the COVID-crisis How Ann manages her time when there are not enough hours in the day to hit her goals The different ways we can take advantage of the time we've been given back due to the global pandemic How the responsibilities to win an election and run a business co-exist Ann's plans for the future Resources: Website: http://www.peservicesmn.com/ Anyone Can Make a Difference I have known Ann Johnson Stewart for a very long time now and she is one of the most extraordinary human beings I have ever met. Ann is an engineer and a teacher, and in spite of the chaotic lifestyle that entrepreneurship brings, she is pursuing a career in politics as well. Every time she sees an opportunity, she answers the call. Coupled with her drive to excel in everything she does, it is no surprise she has decided to run for the state senate. There is a switch she just can't turn off. In this episode of the Intentional Greatness podcast, Ann joins us to share her story. Look for the Next Mountain to Climb Many people who reach the pinnacle of success are content with staying there. But at the height of Ann's success, she began looking for her next peak to summit. After she attended the Women's March post-election in 2017, Ann was inspired by the realization that everyone around her could make a difference. She realized her own power to create change in this world, and since then she has been looking for new ways to harness it. The idea to run for the state senate has been hibernating since then and it has finally come to fruition. Not Enough Hours in a Day In general, women are more hesitant to run for office because they are weighed down by their limiting beliefs and inhibitions. Once we realize that we are all qualified to make an impact and we act from the heart, there is no telling how much we could accomplish. It's not for everyone, but if it is something you have wanted to do, stop hesitating. Ann is pursuing this opportunity amidst a global pandemic while she continues to run a business and take care of her family at home. Anyone can make a difference if they are committed. There are never going to be enough hours in the day to accomplish everything you set your heart to, but Ann has shown that you can still achieve your primary goals either way.

Ann Karako, mom of five, joins us to talk about her experiences homeschooling high school with five kids, graduating four of them, and living to teach others that they can do it too. On today's show we chat: What Ann's kids have to say about their homeschool experience. The things Ann worried about when she first started homeschooling and what she would tell her younger self. Ann's biggest homeschooling mistake and how she would fix it. How Ann is transitioning to life after homeschool now that she is just about ready to graduate her youngest. Ann's best pro tips on homeschooling the high school years -- and she has a ton of them! This is an episode you won't want to miss.
My guest today is Ann, a single-mother-by-choice who was faced with the heart-wrenching decision to not carry triplets. She shares her story and all the reasons she made her difficult choice. We hear the details of her 8-month fertility process and in hindsight what she wishes she would have asked and considered beforehand. Ann was 31 when she realized she was in a relationship just to have a baby. When she learned her partner was sterile, she realized that she only wanted a baby, not the man. So began her path to single-motherhood-by choice. Ann researched her options and found a fertility clinic that had a good track record. However, it was a staunch pro-life clinic, that would become an issue as Ann’s pregnancy continued. She also has a warning about the procedure known as ICSI (Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection.) A process that sounded like a good idea at the time but had Ann known all the facts about it, she would have said no. Ann discusses the birth of her twins and her early reluctance to ask for help from family and friends. She is very open about her battle with postpartum depression. We discuss her family’s response to her difficult situation and how they pulled together to give her a warm and supportive community. Ann wants women to be proactive in their choice of a fertility clinic. Ask questions, do the research, and know exactly what’s going to happen to your body. She encourages openness and honesty with family and friends. She also has some red flags that women should consider when they find themselves in a relationship just for a baby. Some highlights of today’s conversation: Ann’s “white picket fence” dream. Her time in the military and how it changed her outlook on relationships. The event that opened her eyes to the single-mother-by-choice path. How Ann chose her fertility clinic. How she chose her sperm donor. The painful egg extraction that began the process. Ann’s surprising results and the discovery of triplets. Her struggle with the decision to have twins. The lack of information about her situation. Why Ann would have said no to an ICSI procedure if she knew all the facts. Why she chose to reduce her embryos. The surprising support from her family. Why you need to know if your clinic is pro-life or pro-choice. Ann’s struggle in the newborn stage and how she coped. Ann’s advice to women who want a child and not their current partner. Why single-motherhood-by-choice doesn’t have to be lonely.

Today’s conversation with Ann Masciarotte is so important!! On this podcast, I’ve talked a lot about the fact that in today’s world, with the internet, you can really create a business out of anything you are passionate about. Literally, you can find someone that is making money around a topic that you love. You just have to think outside of the box. And that is why I love what Ann is doing! Ann is the Chief Curator and President of the Whitney George Collection, an art advisory firm that she established after leaving a decades-long career as a strategy consultant and product manager. The Whitney George Collection was born of Ann's belief that fine art doesn't have to be intimidating, and that it should be a prominent part of every home, office, commercial and public space. Through her work with The Collection, Ann collaborates with home- and business-owners, and residential and commercial interior designers to curate and source artwork that personalizes and elevates their interior spaces. As a lifelong art collector who comes from a family of artists, Ann loves sharing with and educating others on the joys of buying and living with original art. The Whitney George Collection is primarily focused on promoting standout art and artists who have a unique, dynamic, and intriguing, yet accessible, style and point of view. Ann and the team at The Collection pride themselves on being able to work with nearly any budget, because there is plenty of phenomenal art in the world that doesn't come with a blue chip price tag. The Collection also believes in supporting and promoting living artists, who contribute to a richer social fabric within their local and global communities. Here is what we chat about in this episode: How Ann made the jump from consultant/project manager to business owner How having kids changed her perspective and led her to want to start her own business How she originally went the safe route and tried to start her own consultancy but quickly realized that her heart wasn’t in it How she realized that she might be able to start a business around her passion for art How she structured the business model for her art business Why you just have to start and realize that you’ll just figure it out along the way. Practical advice about how anybody can buy authentic art for their homes Where to find Ann: Website: www.whitneygeorgecollection.com Instagram: http://www.instagram.com/wgfineart Follow along for more: www.lessonsfromaquitter.com https://www.facebook.com/lessonsfromaquitter https://www.instagram.com/lessonsfromaquitter/ https://twitter.com/quitterpodcast
Ann Miura-Ko (@annimaniac) has been called “the most powerful woman in startups” by Forbes and is a lecturer in entrepreneurship at Stanford. The child of a rocket scientist at NASA, Ann is a Palo Alto native and has been steeped in technology startups from when she was a teenager. Prior to co-founding FLOODGATE, she worked at Charles River Ventures and McKinsey and Company. Some of Ann’s investments include Lyft, Ayasdi, Xamarin, Refinery29, JoyRun, TaskRabbit, and Modcloth. It was called Air Bed and Breakfast. They had sold you know tens of thousands of dollars worth of cereal boxes McCain scrunchies and Obama owes to finance their business. They had sold only a small number of air bed space but could show that that was working to some extent but the business was selling air bed space not even a room not a couch and not definitely not a house and especially crowded locations where hotels had sold out. And so it's a very different business from what you see today. And you have to make that dotted line from what do I see today. What's different about this and where will it go. And sometimes you're wildly wrong on where will it go. But you're trying to figure out how this entrepreneur takes this idea there. Can she make it a reality? And what I found was that every time we bad on founders where we say absolutely they can make that a reality it doesn't matter if we were wrong on our hypothesis of where it would go. They would make something interesting happen. Matt: As a serial entrepreneur and angel investor. I'm of the belief that startups and early-stage companies change and define the world. I've seen a world and I believe many of us have corporations and governments have failed to innovate and change things that truly need changing and oftentimes it is a startup or a business incumbent that comes in and creates meaning lasting change in the world. The examples are numerous but I think monetary incentives can be the driving force often to create a better world.Today we've got someone that I and many look up to Ann Miura-ko who has been called the most powerful women in startups by Forbes and is also a lecturer in entrepr...

If you’re a company with a great product or service, marketing is critical to your business growth – both online and off. In fact, creating great marketing can be the difference between booming sales and flailing sales. But great marketing doesn’t happen in a vacuum or the confines of a boardroom. Great marketing is created when organizations takes risks. When they’re creative. When they’re obsessed with their customers. My guest on today’s episode of the Grow My Revenue Business Cast is marketing and branding expert Ann Handley. Ann is the Chief Content Officer for MarketingProfs, an online education resource for modern marketers, and the author of the Wall Street Journal best-seller Everybody Writes. Today, we cover the common mistakes businesses make when coming up with their marketing strategies, why ‘going viral’ is not recommended, and how developing a 'pathological empathy' for your customers is the number one thing that will move the needle in your marketing. I know you're going to love this talk, and you're going to learn a ton on today's edition of Grow My Revenue! Listen to this episode and discover: · The common mistakes companies make when developing marketing content. · Why innovation and creativity are the foundation of great marketing. · Why ‘going viral’ should never be a company’s aim. · How Ann defines great marketing. · Why developing ‘pathological empathy’ for your customer is vital. · What companies can do to create rich, meaningful marketing messages that resonate. · And so much more! Episode Overview As an expert and self-described marketing geek, Ann Handley understands the value of marketing in a way most business leaders don’t. While most follow cookie-cutter approaches to marketing, Ann champions an approach centered on innovation and creativity. “The willingness to take some risks in your marketing I think is also key,” Ann says. “And inherent in that is really knowing who your audience is, know who you’re selling to as opposed to selling to everybody.” That's why she encourages business owners and marketers to be “obsessed with their customers,” or what she calls ‘pathological empathy.’ “It’s next-level empathy,” she says. “All the companies I talk to that are actually using marketing to drive business are obsessed with their customers.” Today you'll learn: · What marketing really is. · How templates and cookie-cutter approaches fail · Why it’s vital to know your audience. · How to create marketing that resonates. · The company that wowed Ann with its genius marketing message. On this edition of Grow My Revenue, you'll hear Ann’s take on how, in many ways, marketing has changed over the years and how, in many ways, it’s remained the same. Also on today's show, Ann shares an embarrassing moment from MarketingProf’s 2016 B2B Marketing Forum in Boston, now in its 11th year. Tune in for all of that and more on today's Grow My Revenue with Ann Handley. For full show notes and other resources, please visit: http://www.ianaltman.com/podcast/ann-handley/
This week I am joined on another episode of Getting Goosepumps by Ann Zuccardy, and what an episode it is. Ann a former writer who suffered from a brain injury has since become, what she explains to be, an accidental neuroscientist. 4 years following her injury Ann has learned that the majority of new information she was discovering about her brain, is in fact backed up by science, hence the accidental title of a neuroscientist. How Ann’s brain injury made her smarter Since Anne’s injury in 2011 she has since been redefining what makes somebody ‘smart’. Ann enlightens us into less conventional ways of determining how smart somebody is. She explains how she was once measured on things like her school grades, her job, and the amount of money in her check-book. Today she measures her level of smartness on inventing new ways to do old tasks, her ability to be creative and learn through curiosity. The importance of being present in every moment Ann explains due to her injury, she has no other choice, nor physical capacity, but to be present in everything she engages in. Her ability to only focus on one task at a time has taught her that more people should practice this. Listening to people without thinking of an agenda of what to say next is something Ann can’t do, however this is something she would encourage more people anyway to do too. Telling stories with humour makes a more memorable experience Ann talks of her The Safe/Unsafe Ted-ex Talk and how embracing your ‘inner-dork’ is something she preaches and encourages. Stepping out of your comfort zone every day and doing so with a child’s mind like Tom Hanks in BIG is a way of exposing our brains to novelty it needs to grow. Finding levity in a serious moment and creating stories create memories, something Ann encourages and wills us to do more.
