Today I'm introducing you to my client Jackie. Last year, Jackie reached out to me for financial coaching because she wanted support navigating a series of life events (newly divorced, maxed out credit cards, and she'd just purchased a new home). These events made her feel frantic and insecure about her finances. She wanted to flesh out a plan so she would know what to do with her money. In this episode, you'll hear Jackie reflect on how she learned managing your finances was about so much more than a budget. Within the first few weeks of our partnership, Jackie had a budget but she was not experiencing the financial shifts she desired. She was consistently spending on food, toys for her daughter, and things for her home to drive temporary positive feelings. As a financial coach, I could see exactly how Jackie's thoughts about her finances and her circumstances were keeping her from the results she desired most - to feel financially stable. I'm sharing Jackie's story today because it's powerful. You'll hear her tell you the ups and downs of our five-month partnership. Our financial results do not have to be linear (and oftentimes they aren't) to be transformational. The beauty in Jackie's story is that in the last year she's learned to trust herself and she's built a solid financial foundation that is now supporting a life she loves. She's learned to love herself through the “mess” and hold on to the results she desires. She's learned that she can trust herself and celebrate all the wins in between. Tune into this episode to learn: When Jackie learned her thoughts create her results about any situation (even money) How Jackie has learned to make more intentional money decisions How Jackie has learned to depend on herself How Jackie reflected on purchases she has made and used these lessons to drive her financial results Jackie's number one tip for anyone else in a similar situation No matter where you are in your financial journey you'll want to tune into Jackie's story. Through our five-month partnership, I was able to support Jackie in seeing that money is 10% technical and 90% emotional. You might find yourself needing this same support. If you're ready to change your thoughts about your finances apply to work with me. I can promise you the journey will be worth it. Visit www.wealthovernow.com to learn more.

Speaking Your Brand

What does it mean to have a Big Idea? Your Big Idea doesn’t need to be something that’s never been talked about before or something that new research you’ve done has uncovered for the first time (if yours does, that’s great!). I like to think of Big Ideas as ones that aren’t getting talked about in *your* circles, in your community or in your industry. Big Ideas can often be found at the intersection of your industry and a trend (not a fad - I talk about the differences between trends and fads in episode 206). For example, in episode 163 last year, I talked about a feminist approach to public speaking. Speaking is not a new topic and feminism is not a new topic, but combining them is something new. Big Ideas inform your thought leadership. In this episode, I talk with Jackie Roby, the founder of Inspired Journey Consulting, a Boston-based business dedicated to wellness, healing, and transformational tourism. Jackie was one of our incredible speakers at our last Brave. Bold. Beyond. Live Virtual Summit and is currently in our Thought Leader Academy. This episode is the first in our new series on Big Ideas. Jackie and I talk about: Her Big Idea of how travel can be healing (which came from her own personal situation) What wellness travel and healing travel mean The thought leadership project Jackie is creating with her new podcast and her #TravelCanHeal hashtag and challenge How Jackie came up with another Big Idea around helping travel companies with DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) Questions you can ask yourself to identify your Big Idea Jackie shares her experience of speaking at our event and the impact it had on her About My Guest: Jackie Roby is Chief Excellence Officer at Inspired Journey Consulting, a Boston-based business dedicated to wellness, healing, and transformational tourism. She is a sales strategist for wellness travel businesses & is a Diversity Equity Inclusion advocate. Jackie brings over 19 years of experience in travel and hospitality sales. IJC's vision is to create a world where marginalized people feel empowered to be their authentic selves, where traveling is a tool for inclusion, to enhance the cultural wellness in the travel industry, and grow emotional intelligence, healing, & self-care for a kinder humanity.   About Us: The Speaking Your Brand podcast is hosted by Carol Cox. In today’s episode, we’ll be doing something a little bit different from the usual format. I’m interviewing my two friends, Jackie and Abby, who also live here in Mexico. We’ve received questions about how we ended up here and why, so we wanted to talk about how we met, why we moved here, and what’s different about living in Mexico versus living in the states. Jackie, Abby, and I met in a single-moms-by-choice travel group online in a thread discussing the idea of moving abroad to save money. In today’s episodes, we talk about what our lives were like before moving to Mexico. Abby describes being frequently stressed and rushed, with little time for a social life. Though she had a strong support system, childcare was very expensive. Jackie also talks about how her long commute ate into her day and how childcare was more expensive than she’d originally counted on, due to her son’s heart condition. She took a pay cut in order to work remotely from home, but still couldn’t find much time to go out due to the expense of childcare. In Mexico, their lives are very different. Abby describes having around seven and a half hours to herself while her children are in school. She has time to train as a pediatric sleep consultant, with an eye to opening her own remote business, while also taking a Spanish course, volunteering at a midwifery clinic, and working part-time. And she still also finds time to do yoga, exercise, and have coffee or lunch with friends. Jackie says that her job keeps her busy during the week, but she enjoys the beautiful views and delicious foods available in Mexico. She describes how much more affordable life is in Mexico – she can afford to have a standing babysitter, go for a massage or pedicure, and generally enjoy a more balanced life with more social activity than she was able to have in the states. Abby, Jackie, and I also talk about the differences between healthcare cost and access in Mexico as opposed to what they were accustomed to in the US. Jackie and Abby talk about when they first started thinking about moving abroad and what the process was like for them. We discuss how satisfied we are with our lives in Mexico, as well as some of the harder things about making such a big move and adjusting to life in a new country, and Abby and Jackie share some tips that they’d give to others thinking about moving abroad with kids, as well as discuss when the best time is to make a big move when you have children. Some highlights of today’s conversation: How Jackie, Abby, and Sarah met What Jackie’s, Abby’s, and Sarah’s lives were like before moving abroad What Jackie’s, Abby’s, and Sarah’s lives are like in Mexico How healthcare is different in Mexico than in the US When Jackie and Abby first started thinking about moving abroad What the process of moving abroad was like Advice that Abby and Jackie would give to others thinking of making a similar move How satisfied Jackie and Abby feel with their decision to move to Mexico

With Black Friday and Cyber Monday right around the corner in the United States, today I wanted to share a case study with you. Jackie Ellis is one of my students and last year she got amazing results with Black Friday/Cyber Monday promotions for the local fitness and tennis club she works at. In this episode, Jackie breaks down how she generated over $30,000 in revenue from a Facebook ad spend of just $600, the pre-sale technique she used, her targeting strategies and the offers she used. Things worked out so well for Jackie last year that she’s running the promotion again this year! If you want to do the same, remember not to wait to set up your Black Friday/Cyber Monday campaigns, as Facebook approval times will take longer due to the increased volume of ads there will be on the platform. Want to win a free 30-minute strategy session with me? To enter all you have to do is give me your feedback on the podcast. Specifically what I’m looking for is what topics you’d like to hear, guests you want to see on AOPT, style of the show and the frequency/length of each episode you’d like. On the Show Today You’ll Learn: The original goal of Jackie’s campaign last year and where she got the inspiration for it What challenges she faced with the Black Friday ads and what she did to overcome these The video strategy she used, why it worked so well last time and what she would do differently to make it even more effective next time How to determine how far to drill down when targeting, and ways your existing customers can help you in this process What else you should be looking at after determining your ideal customer How Jackie is building an audience to make her efforts this year even more successful Coming up on the next episode I have something special that I haven’t tried before on the show. I’ll leave it at that, and you’ll have to tune in next time to see what it is – but I’m really excited to be bringing it to you!
