Kristoffer Carter is the CEO and Founder of Epic Leadership, a training organization for conscious leadership and daily meditation. He has coached and taught meditation since 2015 and was recently named to the Board of Directors for Yoga Alliance. Kristoffer also works as a keynote speaker and author. His latest book, Permission to Glow — A Spiritual Guide to Epic Leadership, was featured in Men's Health, SUCCESS Magazine, NBC, CBS, and ABC morning news programs. In this episode… Being coached is a skill in itself. A lot goes into how to coach others and be respected as a coach. While this is crucial for passing on knowledge and experience, there is the overlooked ability to receive that mentorship. Any successful entrepreneur or executive should ultimately learn both sides of the equation: continuously growing while sharing your growth with others. So, how do you improve in both areas? In this episode of Access to Anyone, Michael Roderick talks with Kristoffer Carter about coaching, meditation, and connecting people. They discuss Kristoffer's introduction to living with purpose and how it ties into his mentoring style. The two also touch on relationship building, helping others succeed, and how to curate potential mentees.

We don't know about matter. 96% of the universe's mass is unaccounted for. We don't understand consciousness either. No one is really sure why or how consciousness works. We don't even understand time - we don't know when or how the universe began, and we're not even clear how it will end. There are theories for all these phenomena, but nobody is quite sure. Spirituality is not an exact alternative to science, but it does seem separate from science. I've considered myself an atheist for many years; nonetheless, I find myself spending a lot of time with people who have a more grounded, less performative sense of spirituality, which I'm curious about. So, what does it mean to someone who's made spirituality the very foundation of their life? KC, short for Kristoffer Carter, is a coach for C-suite executives and start-up founders. Since becoming a coach, his true focus is on mindset - mindset that flows from spirituality. I first met Kristoffer Carer nearly a decade ago when he raised his hand to participate in the inaugural Good Life Project immersion. It was a yearlong deep dive into work and life that we ran for about 5 years. Kristoffer or KC as most people call him, was running fast. I wasn't sure if he was running toward something as much as he was running from it. In the end, like most of us, it was probably both. A married dad of three living in Ohio and working at a Chicago ad-tech startup after exiting life as a touring musician, he stumbled upon a book that would change the direction of his life. Our lives intersected just as that existential reimagining was shifting into high gear. There was this moment during our first weekend together, 15 strangers who'd become fast family in an industrial space in downtown Manhattan. I caught him out of the corner of my eye, sitting cross-legged against a 100-year-old wall of leaded windows, the light pouring in behind him. Hands laying open over his knees as he sat in meditation. It was a moment of powerful foreshadowing. In the ensuing years, KC would become an initiate of Yogananda's Self Realization Fellowship, a Kriyaban yogi meditating hours a day. He'd find himself exiting his career to carve his own path, bridging the worlds of spirituality and business as an executive coach, founder of This Epic Life consultancy, and someone who remains fiercely devoted to bringing all parts of himself - the deeply spiritual yogi, the bouncing-off-the-walls kid and musician, the wise mentor, husband, and dad - to everything he does. In his words, full life integration. And along the way, he developed his own philosophy he calls the four permissions, which also happens to be the focus of KC's new book, Permission to Glow: A Spiritual Guide to Epic Leadership. You can find KC at: Website | InstagramIf you LOVED this episode:You'll also love the conversations we had with Daniel Goleman about meditation, which it turns out, changes you, on the level of DNA.My new book is available!Order Sparked: Discover Your Unique Imprint for Work that Makes You Come Alive today!Check out our offerings & partners: Sarah Flint Shoes: Comfort-driven design, with features like arch support and extra footbed padding. I'm thrilled to be joined in this episode by Katie Ceccarini, founder of Endurance Management Coaching. She is an executive coach and trainer who works with leaders to empower their vision and unleash their strengths. She is also an endurance athlete and mom.In this conversation, we cover a lot of ground. Katie first shares her own career journey and her career transition to becoming a business owner, trainer, and coach. She shares what prompted her to leave Corporate, lean into what was drawing her next, and how a shift in life stage coupled with the pandemic led her to think differently about the work+life she wanted to craft for herself. We delve into leadership and the work that Katie does as a coach. She shares tips on improving leader effectiveness and shares one of her pet peeves, the focus on “fake it till you make it.” She'd say it's much more powerful to be vulnerable, be genuinely curious, and find footing in purpose and making it matter. We close with some wise tips on how Katie leads a full life while staying in sync with her life vision and keeping herself sustained and whole. Thanks so much for being on with me, Katie! What would life be like if we gave ourselves PERMISSION? Permission to truly chill, to feel deeply, to open up and express ourselves in ways that serve us - and others? Kristoffer “KC” Carter has A LOT of ideas about this. He's the exact opposite of aspirational hustle culture and warmed over self help -- and he's Laura's coach! In this episode, Kristoffer shows us what happens when a disaffected sales dude goes deep into the world of meditation and spirituality and emerges as a Fortune 100 executive coach and unwavering advocate for every. single. one. of us. Have a pen and paper handy for this one, because the wisdom is flowing. When embarking on a creative project, people often say they need something I can't give them. Permission. I'm not the authority or the all-knowing one who metes out permission. Permission comes from inside. As adults, we decide how we devote ourselves to our creative projects. While I don't think permission comes from someone else, I do believe that role models help us see what's possible. Permission can come from seeing how someone else boldly carves out their own path. I felt this sense of permission the minute Kristoffer Carter crossed my path almost ten years ago. There is something about him, from his unabashed energy to his ability to connect with anyone, anywhere, that inspired me. Some would call it "unfiltered". In this episode, we talk about his book, Permission to Glow. He shares four permissions and how he is still on the edge of practicing them daily. We also discussed: The difference between performing and embodying your message How Kristoffer found his path to joy through consistent spiritual practice And much, much more.
Let's go behind the scenes and inside Kristoffer "KC" Carter's book launch for Permission To Glow. Permission to Glow creates awareness of the universal forces that hold us back and offers 4 Permissions we can activate “to transcend the crazy train of overwhelm and disruption by using everything life offers as fuel to glow.” Here's what we talk about in today's episode: Self-Publishing vs. Traditional publishing Why KC decided to work with Page Two books How far in advance the creative process started Important branding and visibility changes he made KC also shares nuggets from the book and the 4 Permissions Framework. You can pre-order the book and get some goodies here: https://www.thisepiclife.com/book/

The author, speaker and consultant has worked with executives with top companies like AT&T, Amazon and Edward Jones and has a book due out this fall titled, Permission to Glow: A Spiritual Guide to Epic Leadership. But instead of yet another discussion on leadership skills, we focused more on people like you and me. Those of us just trying to tackle some challenges to move forward with our lives. Launching can be a rough complex process...and it gets even more challenging when you're trying to connect with an audience that typically likes to stay anonymous. When I saw my good friend Kristoffer Carter launching his pilot program back in October 2016 called the New Sobriety, I knew two things. A) That he would come on my show and talk about the launch ... because KC knows how to create an amazing experience. B) He was launching something that I could see there might be some built in challenges around just by the mere topic. So, today's episode we talk about those things and also reveal what he did during his launch to make the first round a huge success and what he's doing now to follow up on that. We cover: How growing his community for this product & mission has differed and remained the same as any other “normal” launch. What pricing lessons he learned during the launch and how he course corrected for some amazing results. What the New Sobriety is all about and who it's best suited for - the answer might surprise you. KC's “Linchpin Habit” strategy (he might not even see how genius this is!!). Plus we dive into his launch numbers, and he tells us what's in store for the program going forward! If you'd like to reach out to KC after today's episode, make sure to contact him at thisepiclife.com You can also find all the references we made over on the blog at annesamoilov.com/136 See you over there!

In this conversation with dad, yogi, meditation teacher, and entrepreneur KC Carter, you get spiritual truths, self-deprecating humor, brilliant social and political insights, and lines like: We’re all pieces of jagged glass in a turbulent sea and we’re all just trying to end up with some beautiful piece of seaglass eventually. We know that relationships are a key aspect of the Practice of Being Seen so we asked KC for his ideas and insights about relationships. Listen in as KC discusses how people are drawn to those who will share the messy, uncomfortable parts of their lives. They need to see that humanness in order to make a connection. A strong meditation practice is fundamental to KC’s personal and professional success. We talked about how sobriety plays a key role in KC’s life. You can learn more about his program, New Sobriety, to help you shift e your relationship with “the drinks”: http://www.thisepiclife.com/the-new-sobriety-join-us-today/ When we explored how the KC’s devotion to meditation and spiritual development influenced his life, he says: “The loneliness of the spiritual path becomes a razor’s edge. The slightest wind can take you off. It’s a brutal fall and a long climb back up.” And he talked about how relationships support you when you’re on the razor’s edge. Relationships are responsible for everything including what resources are available and what resistance you encounter. KC also describes the first among his spiritual principles: “don’t try to convert the people around you.” And yet, in subtle ways, you help one another soften all the edges. Influence doesn’t happen when you’re trying to be too overt about it. When it comes to the meditative practice, KC says Meditation helps you “discerning between the signal inside yourself and giving into the static.” The reality of meditation is that you start with a messy, failure ridden process. You need to just start with five minutes of clearing your mind. Visit www.thisepiclife.com/30 to get help launching your daily 15-minutes per day practice. KC merges his depth of business experience with his spiritual work, improving workplace culture and introducing mediation to the office. When it comes to succeeding at entrepreneurship and any other task worth doing: “It’s about the long game… it’s not about the next webinar and the next speedy step. People who have attained mastery have been doing it for 10 - 20 years.” KC paraphrased Jon Acuff’s Wisdom 2.0 speech: “being brave feels like being scared sh*tless.” The “lens statement” is very important to KC and he talked about how his own lens statement has evolved over time. “We live in a dynamic universe and things require upgrading. That’s why businesses also require upgraded mission statements.” His advice: “Check in with your lens statement once a day. It becomes very clear when you’re not in alignment with it.” KC left us with some big ideas about how important anchoring into yourself is in this unsettled time. And gave us some ideas around reframing failure and the willingness to publicly fail and the practice of being seen. We all have a fundamental need to be seen and heard. If we’re passionately pissed off about something, it’s because we feel like we’re not being seen and heard. KC dives right in and talks about how we tend to equate materialistic values with being seen or “making a splash.” In reality, “what people really need is to see your heart and to show that you care, to look them deeply in the eyes, to pause, and to make time.” KC also shares the current dragon on his path: impatience. He also describes how he sees this as part part of being a “white, entitled American male.” We love how KC is willing to talk about something that’s so much a part of the contemporary experience: privilege. And yes, this episode closes with KC chanting the Romper Room finale because it means so much to really be seen in the Magic Mirror. Official Bio: Kristoffer Carter (“KC”) inspires individuals and organizations to thrive in the face of relentless change. He has been featured in Business Insider, onstage at Wisdom 2.0 and for many Good Life Project events. A devout Kriyaban Yogi with Self-Realization Fellowship, KC is a disciple of guru Paramahansa Yogananda, author of the spiritual classic Autobiography of a Yogi. KC is passionate about creating the transformative habit of meditation through daily practice. While a lot of career paths aren’t linear, Creative Giants in particular often seem to have dramatically, nonlinear career progressions. The first Life on Purpose Roundtable, which will be a monthly feature of the show, was a great conversation with Kristoffer Carter, Emiliya Zhivotovskaya, and Eric Zimmer on how they define living a “life on purpose” and what that means to them, as well as various ways that we can EACH do that in our daily lives. Kristoffer Carter is an outspoken advocate of mindfulness in business, a Kriyaban Yogi (from the Self Realization Fellowship), a husband and Father of 3, a marathoner, and multi-instrumentalist since childhood. We usually chat with people after their first launch - so we can get that story of what happened, how they felt, what they changed up going forward… but this time, I there was no need to time travel or dig into the archives. Kristoffer Carter has been working like a madman behind the scenes of some of the most important creators online. I got to know him last year when we joined forces to support our dear friend Jonathan Fields launch Revolution U and then again as faculty members in Jonathan's intense, life changing GLP Immersion program. But today - it's all about Krissy. Here's just a peek at what we get into on this episode: Who is responsible for me meeting Kristoffer Carter? What he realized about launching from releasing his manifesto The Framework? How his day job responded to the launch of his manifesto... What personal practices help him prepare for launches (his own and other people's)? What the heck is he unleashing to the world THIS week? We also dive into many topics that show how he lives his life from top to bottom - with a mission to be completely integrated, always practice radical introspection, and to make it his duty to have fun and rally people to have the best experience EVER.
