Today's guest, Vivian Richards, S.J., wants to help Catholics do just that. Balaguer rep aquest el Reixos. La Cavalcada fa un recorregut que passarà pels carrers Barcelona, Sanahuja, l’avinguda Pere III, el pont Nou, i finalitzarà a la plaça del Mercadal, on es farà la recepció de Ses Majestats i les Patgesses per part del paer en cap. Després dels parlaments, tots els nens i nenes podran saludar personalment als Reixos al vestíbul de la Casa de la Paeria. Una de les qüestions a destacar durant la Cavalcada de Reixos és la fila 0, un espai destinat a totes aquelles persones menors d’edat o els seus acompanyants principals que tinguin necessitats especials d’accessibilitat. A la cavalcada hi participaran un total de 140 voluntaris que representen els diferents personatges de l’imaginari dels Reixos de Balaguer Aquest dijous al migdia tanca portes el Cosmolúdic a Balaguer. Aquest parc de Nadal va obrir portes el passat 27 de desembre després de dos anys sense poder-se realitzar a causa de la pandèmia. La Paeria de Balaguer fa una valoració molt positiva del retorn i la participació de públic en una de les activitats estrella de la programació de Nadal a Reixos a la ciutat Balaguer clou aquest les estades infantils de les vacances de Nadal a la llar d’infants municipal El Patufet, que estaven adreçades exclusivament a infants usuaris de les llars municipals Fins aquest diumenge 8 de gener es pot gaudir a Balaguer de la pista de gel ubicada a la plaça Mercadal La Paeria de Balaguer ha aprovat el projecte per a la reparació la passarel·la sobre el riu entre les avingudes Països Catalans i Francesc Macià. El projecte compta amb un pressupost de 96.095 euros Junts reclama que es legalitzi l’heliport de Tiurana abans de l’estiu. Aquest equipament havia funcionat com a instal·lació aeroportuària per a helicòpters, però la primavera del 2021 es va tancar perquè es trobava en situació irregular La Baronia de Rialb impulsa la creació d’un centre d’activitats nàutiques a l’embassament. Albesa es solidaritza un any més amb el projecte Ixmucané. Lluís Puig parla d'aquest recorregut i de l'estiu i tardor del 17 i de la decisió d'anar-se'n a l'exili a Brussel·les.
Full Text of ReadingsEighteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time Lectionary: 114All podcast readings are produced by the USCCB and are from the Catholic Lectionary, based on the New American Bible and approved for use in the United States _______________________________________The Saint of the day is Saint Ignatius of LoyolaThe founder of the Jesuits was on his way to military fame and fortune when a cannon ball shattered his leg. Because there were no books of romance on hand during his convalescence, Ignatius whiled away the time reading a life of Christ and lives of the saints. His conscience was deeply touched, and a long, painful turning to Christ began. Having seen the Mother of God in a vision, he made a pilgrimage to her shrine at Montserrat near Barcelona. He remained for almost a year at nearby Manresa, sometimes with the Dominicans, sometimes in a pauper's hospice, often in a cave in the hills praying. After a period of great peace of mind, he went through a harrowing trial of scruples. There was no comfort in anything—prayer, fasting, sacraments, penance. At length, his peace of mind returned. It was during this year of conversion that Ignatius began to write down material that later became his greatest work, the Spiritual Exercises. He finally achieved his purpose of going to the Holy Land, but could not remain, as he planned, because of the hostility of the Turks. Ignatius spent the next 11 years in various European universities, studying with great difficulty, beginning almost as a child. Like many others, his orthodoxy was questioned; Ignatius was twice jailed for brief periods. In 1534, at the age of 43, he and six others—one of whom was Saint Francis Xavier—vowed to live in poverty and chastity and to go to the Holy Land. If this became impossible, they vowed to offer themselves to the apostolic service of the pope. The latter became the only choice. Four years later Ignatius made the association permanent. The new Society of Jesus was approved by Pope Paul III, and Ignatius was elected to serve as the first general. When companions were sent on various missions by the pope, Ignatius remained in Rome, consolidating the new venture, but still finding time to found homes for orphans, catechumens, and penitents. He founded the Roman College, intended to be the model of all other colleges of the Society. Ignatius was a true mystic. He centered his spiritual life on the essential foundations of Christianity—the Trinity, Christ, the Eucharist. His spirituality is expressed in the Jesuit motto, Ad majorem Dei gloriam—“for the greater glory of God.” In his concept, obedience was to be the prominent virtue, to assure the effectiveness and mobility of his men. All activity was to be guided by a true love of the Church and unconditional obedience to the Holy Father, for which reason all professed members took a fourth vow to go wherever the pope should send them for the salvation of souls. Reflection Luther nailed his theses to the church door at Wittenberg in 1517. Seventeen years later, Ignatius of Loyola founded the Society that was to play so prominent a part in the Catholic Reformation. He was an implacable foe of Protestantism. Yet the seeds of ecumenism may be found in his words: “Great care must be taken to show forth orthodox truth in such a way that if any heretics happen to be present they may have an example of charity and Christian moderation. No hard words should be used nor any sort of contempt for their errors be shown.” One of the greatest ecumenists was the 20th-century German Jesuit, Cardinal Augustin Bea. Jaume Ponsarnau es uno de los afectados en España por los incendios provocados por la ola de calor. Él es el entrenador del Bilbao Basket desde el 21 de junio y ha acudido a los micrófonos de 'El Larguero' para contarle a Yago de Vega la situación, pues ha vivido en primera persona los incendios de Manresa.
The night of 27th May 1982 was cold and rainy, and waiting for the British on the mile-wide isthmus to the north of the settlements of Darwin and Goose Green were one hundred Argentinian conscripts making up two platoons of 12 Regiment A company, a dozen or so Argentinian reconnaissance soldiers, First Lieutenant Jorge Manresa, three officers and 14 NCOs. Manresa's men weren't in a good place. They were part of the extension of the defensive position ordered by their commander back in Stanley and it was no where nearly as well laid out as the second line of defence behind them. They had a 120mm mortar with its tube welded to its base plate, two other 81mm mortars and two 7.62mm machine guns. The newly dug positions were about a mile and half ahead of the much better constructed main line. At 6pm on the 27th, the British 2 battalion Charlie company began to advance towards the start line in intermittent rain. For the next three hours they probed down the track, led by engineers of 59 squadron who faced the biggest hazards initially – being blown up by mines and boobytraps. They waded waist-deep in streams in the darkness to ensure that the three bridges between Camilla Creek and the start line were clear of mines, then lay shivering in the dark as the assault companies headed their way.At 2.35am A Company crossed the start line in a classic infantry formation, two platoons forward and one behind. At 2:35am HMS Arrow opened fire, firing a total of 22 star shells and 135 rounds of 4.5" high-explosive shells during a 90-minute bombardment, signalling the start of the attack. The rest of the battalion moved off at 10pm, listening to the crump crump of naval gunfire support.Still, it took a firefight until first light before the first line was broken, and the British were still two miles short of the Goose Green Settlement – they'd just arrived at Darwin. But that is further north of Goose Green, about a mile and a half away and both were located on the east side of the isthmus, the right as you look at the map. Then dawn broke, and the battle began to swing away from the British. They were caught in the open, on gently sloping ground, with the only shelter being little contours in the landscape and a ridge that was a great target. In Discovering Ignatius, Jim Kennedy, SJ will explore the life of Saint Ignatius, Catholic saint and founder of the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits). 500 years ago, Inigo de Loyola was struck in the legs by a cannonball, which began his journey from swashbuckling man of the world to the pilgrim mystic who composed the Spiritual Exercises, a classic work of Christian Spirituality.The fourth episode explores Inigo's journey after leaving Manresa, including his pilgrimage to the Holy Land. After his time in the Holy Land, Inigo returned to Spain and began to share his ideas about prayer and spiritual exercises with whomever would listen him. Facing some scrutiny by religious authorities, Inigo took a break from spiritual conversation and began studies at universities in Spain; eventually, he made his way to the University of Paris, where he met such companions as Francis Xavier and Peter Faber. He became a pilgrim, a wanderer guided by God. Although Inigo wanted to travel to the Holy Land, he instead remained in Spain, spending roughly a year in a town called Manresa. While in Manresa, Inigo struggled with scrupulosity and despair. Eventually, through the grace of God, Inigo emerged from his difficulties and his insights Ignatius later turned into the First Principle and Foundation, a major component of the Spiritual Exercises.
