Fue toda una conmoción en Argentina el mes recién pasado, protagonizado en no poca medida por el propio presidente Javier Milei. Sin más, una noche promocionaba en su cuenta de X la criptomoneda Libra y horas después el espejismo de la supuesta maravillosa inversión se esfumó. ¿Qué fue lo que sucedió? La firma investigadora Nansen -según Bloomberg-, aseguró que los operadores conocidos como "francotiradores" o "robots" que son quienes adelantan las ganancias con nuevas criptomonedas, comenzaron a operar desde la publicación de Milei, a punto tal que el valor de mercado del token llegó a $4.500 millones. Pero aquello fue fugaz. Y lo que quedan hoy son las denuncias de quienes creyeron, invirtieron y ahora enfrentan pérdidas por $250 millones. Este hecho nos convoca a acercarnos a entender sobre las criptomonedas, empezando por los conceptos que se usan en ese mundo de reciente creación. Algunas personas las usan como método de pago, para evitar los costos de transacciones bancarias y mantener el anonimato. Otras las adquieren para conservarlas como una inversión, con la expectativa de obtener ganancias. Pero la realidad muestra otras caras. Un informe del Centro de Quejas de Delitos en Internet (IC3) del FBI de los Estados Unidos publicado en septiembre pasado, determinó que hubo 69 mil denuncias de fraude con criptomonedas, en el año 2023, por $5.600 millones, cifra aún mayor que la denunciada en el 2022. En decir, conforme aumenta el uso de las criptomonedas en el sistema financiero global, los problemas afloran dada la poca regulación, la velocidad de las transacciones, la capacidad de transferir en todo el mundo y la dificultad para recuperar los dineros, por la rapidez con la que la moneda digital se pasa a una cuenta en el extranjero para convertirla a efectivo. Pese a todo la fiebre de las criptomonedas continúa. Donald Trump, por ejemplo, firmó en enero cinco activos digitales que espera incluir en una reserva estratégica de criptomonedas en Estados Unidos: Xrp, Sol, Ada y añadió a Bitcoin y Ether (las más conocidas), lo que hizo que el valor de mercado se disparará. Lo cierto es que las criptos tienen implicaciones políticas, económicas, financieras y hasta filosóficas y para entenderlas conversaremos con el economista José Luis Arce.

Entre estos últimos destaca Halkieria. Aunque se han encontrado fósiles de Halkieria, y de otras especies emparentadas, que forman el grupo de los halkiéridos, por todo el mundo, en 1989 se descubrió en Sirius Passet el único espécimen completo de este animal.

Im Juli 1905 reiste Fridtjof Nansen von Norwegen in die dänische Hauptstadt, um dort den dänischen Prinzen davon zu überzeugen, norwegischer König zu werden. Nansen, der Polarforscher hat nämlich nicht nur als erster Mensch Grönland durchquert und versucht, den Nordpol zu erreichen. Der Norweger war auch ein berühmter Befürworter der norwegischen Unabhängigkeit, das bislang in Personalunion vom schwedischen König regiert wurde. Und Nansen setzte nicht nur in der Erforschung des arktischen Eismeers neue Maßstäbe: Als Diplomat und Botschafter war er unter anderem für den Völkerbund tätig, führte den ersten international gültigen Ausweis für Staatenlose ein und erhielt 1922 den Friedensnobelpreis.
