In this video we break down why the constant deconstruction of superheroes has gone from a fresh storytelling tool to an overused creative crutch, exploring how endless grim-dark subversions, cynical reinterpretations, and “what if heroes were actually bad?” narratives are draining the genre of its optimism, mythic power, and emotional resonance; we look at how this trend homogenizes stories, misunderstands why classic heroes work, and ultimately pushes audiences away, making the case that it's time to stop tearing superheroes down and start rebuilding them with sincerity, imagination, and a sense of wonder again.Thank you so much for watching and be sure to share the stream! Just like in the grand scheme of life, our style journeys tend to take us on a winding road where our focus can shift greatly from one season to the next. One minute, all that matters is cramming for your finals and securing that summer internship. Then you blink and you're planning for your wedding day or to deliver your first baby. Maybe you're getting established in your career or transitioning into retirement. Our lives aren't static and neither are our wardrobes. That's one of the coolest things I get to witness among my clients. Not only do I get a sneak peek into their day to day lives, but I get to see how their style priorities evolve over time. When our work starts, we dive into the basics — fit, color, making sure their style is dialed-in and true to who they are.  A little while later… after they've gotten their feet wet… I get to see what really moves the needle for them. Some clients aspire to seek out the perfect prints, others want to liven up their accessories, and then there are those who realize they've still been brushing off the basics (undergarments, pajamas, athletic wear — that old chestnut) and we get to tackle the nuances of what they truly need for their style to thrive in the current season. I don't know what that is for you or the exact stage of wardrobe development that you're in. But for me? Right now, I am craving color. With all the rich and radiant hues to choose from this spring, you might be itching for more variety in your closet, too. But if you're also like me in that you look best in softer or more muted tones, you might feel limited in how much color you can wear. Here at Her Style, we're all about breaking the rules — with strategy and intention. So in today's episode, I'm going to help you layer on the color in a way that complements you and boosts your confidence. Because there's nothing worse than getting dressed and then feeling self-conscious or overdone all day. Let's make sure you're wearing the colors you love in a way that makes you look and feel your very best.   FREE 5-MIN PERSONAL STYLE QUIZ: https://herstylellc.com/quiz HER STYLE ON INSTAGRAM: https://www.instagram.com/heatherriggsstyle/ JOIN THE WAITLIST FOR HER STYLE COLLECTIVE: https://herstylellc.com/collective   Related Episodes: 150 – 8 Ways to Be More Bold and Creative With Your Outfit Styling 82 – How To Confidently Wear ANY Color You Want 72 – Create Better Outfits Using These 3 Design Principles

Carley Garner, senior commodity strategist at DeCarley Trading, says the stock market looks unbalanced to her, with the current rally built around mechanical issues, like an explosion of option sales that impact market performance. She is expecting a pullback, and says things could get ugly — with the Standard & Poor's potentially losing at least 1,500 points, — about 2,000 points — which is why she has moved an overweight part of her own portfolio into Treasuries. She sounds a note for caution during the conversation, noting that "Markets are unforgiving in the short run, but in the long run they are very forgiving. Almost always, you will get an opportunity — it might be months or years down the road — to get back at a price that is reasonable and something you are comfortable with, as opposed to chasing it." Veteran market observer Nick Sargen, a regular contributor to The Hill, returns to The Big Interview to discuss the updated version of his book, "Global Shocks: An Investment Guide for Turbulent Markets." Sargen says the market is going through a lot of events — from the war in Iran to the fighting in ukraine, and more, but these events haven't had the historical impact on the market expected by these shocking events because artificial-intelligence spending has been so big that it just keeps the market powering along. "The optimism over A.I. in the stock market is having more impact on investors than the pessimism that consumers are currently feeling." John Cole Scott, president of CEF Advisors and the chairman of the Active Investment Company Alliance, returns to the show to discuss how recent troubles in business-development companies created a haves and have nots" among BDCs, with the ones that have exposure to software loans suffering and struggling while the ones that aren't in software represent a strong opportunity to get double-digit yields and solid returns on equity.

Donald Trump travels to Beijing next week for a long-awaited summit with Xi Jinping that carries huge geopolitical significance, but one where investors should keep expectations firmly in check. Group Chief Economist Neil Shearing and Head of China Economics Julian Evans-Pritchard join David Wilder to assess the state of the US-China relationship and why any apparent thaw in tensions may prove superficial. They discuss issues including: Why Beijing increasingly sees the US as a power in relative decline, and how that is shaping Chinese strategy;  Why the structural forces pushing the US and China apart are likely to outlast any short-term diplomatic reset;  What's driving the recent improvement in China's economy, and how that could exacerbate global tensions. Also on the show, Chief Europe Economist Andrew Kenningham returns from client meetings in Germany to explain why those who had been expecting an economic turnaround last year have been left disappointed, but to also argue that the prevailing gloom around both the German economy and its politics has become excessive.Related content:Read: What would a new PM mean for the UK economy and markets?https://www.capitaleconomics.com/publications/uk-economics-update/what-would-new-pm-mean-uk-economy-and-marketsRegister: Drop-In: Is the energy shock supercharging the Chinese export boom?https://www.capitaleconomics.com/events/drop-energy-shock-supercharging-chinese-export-boomRead: Taking stock of the German fiscal stimulushttps://www.capitaleconomics.com/publications/europe-economics-update/taking-stock-german-fiscal-stimulusRead: Fiscal stimulus won't fix Germany's economyhttps://www.capitaleconomics.com/publications/europe-economics-focus/fiscal-stimulus-wont-fix-germanys-economy

Warren Pies, founder of 3Fourteen Research, lays out his thesis for a "Goldilocks" first half of 2026, characterized by growth inflecting higher alongside continued disinflation — a very equity-positive environment. However, Warren identifies four key risks testing the market's delicate balance: vanishing MAG7 buybacks due to AI capex, software's existential disruption, Kevin Warsh's Fed nomination (which he calls "the worst pick for investors"), and precious metals volatility. Despite these headwinds, Warren argues the most bearish narratives are overdone. He notes that software has moved from overvalued to fairly valued, that post-GFC markets have returned double digits in every year with buyback contractions, and that extreme return dispersion near all-time highs historically resolves in six-month rallies. His core investment thesis: "When disruption is the risk, own that which cannot be disrupted" — rotate from bonds into commodities as the ideal portfolio hedge. Warren maintains his equity overweight, expects the bull case to remain intact through H1, and sees the recent rotation as healthy rather than ominous.Links: https://www.3fourteenresearch.com/https://x.com/WarrenPiesTimestamps: 0:00 Intro and welcome back Warren Pies 1:16 Macro picture: The secular debasement regime 3:30 Goldilocks for H1 2026 — growth up, inflation down 5:38 Four risks to the delicate balance 12:34 Is the market healthier than people think? About Symco Training: Symco Training was founded in 2000 by Simon Bowkett and it was his belief that the business had to offer its clients something different. That difference was clear to Simon from his days in the dealership when he experienced many sales trainers who had all the answers, but were unable, unwilling or both to actually show the delegate how they could be implemented. It remains the ethos of the business today. You see, Symco only employ trainers that are committed to delivering not only in spiring and insightful training, but are equally as happy to demonstrate these skills and techniques with real customers in your own showroom. We believe in order for sales training to be effective and in Simon's words 'real world', it needs to be tried and tested in the only place it matters the showroom floor. There is no room for theory when your goals are for your team to sell more cars, hours or parts and retain more profit. In dealerships around the world the focus applied by many of the sales executives is to try and sell a deal. Symco specialise in getting your teams to focus on selling themselves, the product and then supporting this with the deal. To find out more visit: www.symcotraining.co.uk

Kia ora,Welcome to Wednesday's Economy Watch where we follow the economic events and trends that affect Aotearoa/New Zealand.I'm David Chaston and this is the international edition from Interest.co.nz.And today we lead with of leaking economic signals everywhere we look today. And the NZD is in retreat as the mood sours on commodity currencies, and Wall Street follows.First, the overnight full dairy auction brought lower prices yet again, down -2.4% in USD terms this time, down -1.0% in NZD terms. Butter (-4.3%) and cheddar cheese (-6.6%) were the big deliners this time, but the key WMP also fell -2.7%. If it wasn't for China buying, the situation could have been worse as a bearish tone was very evident and markets for milk fats (butter, cheese) are now oversupplied. This was the sixth consecutive drop, taking the fall since early August to more than -10%. So the softness is mounting up now and analysts will be dusting off their new season $10/kgMS forecasts for a serious review. In the US there was a large retreat in optimism as reported by the RCM/TIPP sentiment survey. It fell a sharp -9.1%in November to it the lowest since June 2024, a shift that was not expected and certainly the size of the shift wasn't anticipated. Confidence among investors slipped -3.1% but for non-investors it plunged -10.4%.The US Logistics Managers Index shows that freight costs are rising and at an increasing rate, but that inventory levels are contracting. This monitoring also reports that warehousing costs and utilisation are now rising at a much softer pace.. This metric seems to suggest more momentum is leaking from the heart of the giant US economy, but it isn't in retreat yet.And staying in the US, the Americans has said China would return as a big buyer of their soybean crop after the Trump/Xi meeting. But as we noted at the time, the Chinese were silent on that commitment. And so far they have not placed any orders in the US (while continuing to buy in Brazil). It makes sense - why would you buy from a supplier who uses trade as a pawn? The uncertainty and unreliability would make anyone shy away from such commitments. All this American negativity is seeing Wall Street in retreat today. At the same time, there are some signature elections being held in parts of the US today and all eyes are on the retribution the US president may apply if results don't go his way. Withholding food aid to the poor is already underway. More will surely follow. In Australia, their central bank held its cash rate target at 3.6% again in yesterday's review but it is admitting to worries about inflation pressures. However, they are hoping those pressure are transitory. Still, remarks yesterday will have financial markets removing any chance of any rate cuts in the foreseeable future. The UST 10yr yield is now at 4.08%, down -3 bps from yesterday at this time. The price of gold will start today at US$3968/oz, down -US$39 from this time yesterday.American oil prices are -US$1 lower from yesterday at just over US$60.50/bbl, with the international Brent price now just under US$64.50/bbl.The Kiwi dollar is now at just under 56.7 USc, and down -40 bps from yesterday. Against the Aussie we are down than -10 bps at 87.2 AUc. Against the euro we are down -20 bps at 49.3 euro cents. That all means our TWI-5 starts today at just over 61.3 and down -40 bps from yesterday. The bitcoin price starts today at US$102,729 and down another -3.8% from this time yesterday. Volatility over the past 24 hours has been moderate at just on +/- 2.3%.Join us at 1pm this afternoon for the live press conference presenting the latest RBNZ update of their Financial Stability Report. You can get more news affecting the economy in New Zealand from interest.co.nz.Kia ora. The Mike Hosking Breakfast
Tim Beveridge: Waitangi Day - has it been overdone?

The Mike Hosking Breakfast

I don't mind telling you, I've kind of been dreading making any sort of editorial comment or opinion on Waitangi Day. Not because I don't think it's significant, but because I feel an expectation to say something about its importance in our calendar, how it's an opportunity to reflect on our history, and how we should use it to think about the way ahead. Or something like that. I'm not about to deny that it's an important day - especially for iwi and the Crown within the context of Treaty settlements and Crown-iwi relations. But if I am honest - I'm kind of over it. And I'd hazard a guess that for many people, the first think on their minds isn't politics or history - it's: What's the weather doing for our day off? So, I'm not about to offer a lecture on what Waitangi means or should mean. There's no shortage of that if that's what you are seeking. I guess I've just seen enough news coverage that either lectures us on what we should be thinking or pushes the most inflammatory images or stories they can get their hands on. Of course, it's understandable that the feisty stuff will be what makes the news, but should we really be surprised that so many people are tuning out? I think that many of us have just grown weary with the predictable news cycle around Waitangi. It's our own version of Groundhog Day - where we have the same pattern of event, the same dramas, the same tensions. Then, when the day itself rolls around, we're told what a wonderful occasion it is and how you really have to visit Waitangi to appreciate it as our national day. Essentially, I don't think events in the lead up to Waitangi represent us very well. They don't reflect how we relate to each other as New Zealanders. And they certainly don't make us feel united as a country - or even particularly good about ourselves. Which is a shame, because the endless politicising of race in New Zealand betrays how well New Zealanders get on with each other. We've been meeting, marrying, forming friendships, and building families together for generations. New Zealand today is a truly multicultural society. In a few weeks' time, the netball season will be underway, and as I've said before on my show, if you want to see the New Zealand I relate to - you'll find it there. Every night of competition, hundreds of kids and adults gather to play, compete, and have fun. The faces you'll see are from a multitude of races, backgrounds, and cultures - all just getting stuck in and enjoying themselves. That is the face of New Zealand today, and not one that is represented by what we often see unfolding in the lead up to Waitangi Day, when once again, we're defined and divided by race - Pākehā vs Māori. And frankly? I'm bored with it. Now, there will be people who say: Oh, but you really have to go to Waitangi to appreciate what a wonderful occasion it is! That may well be true. But if the meaning of our national day can only be fully grasped by physically being in one place, then it's hardly the unifying celebration it's supposed to be. That's a tough sell to five million people. So, when it comes to the 6th of February, I'm probably with most people - I'll just be looking out the window, hoping for sunshine, and asking: How's the weather looking? Alan Weiss' The Uncomfortable Truth

When you have a great talent on stage, do we really need dancers, other singers, flashing lights, and magic tricks? What does Starbucks gain giving us all those choices in its own strange language? Have you ever noticed how visitors from Europe are astonished at the size and number of our restaurant dinner courses? Have you ever tried to quickly find something in a car's owner's manual? Can you read all the menu options at Dunkin' Donuts drive through window before the person in the car behind you becomes homicidal because they haven't had their coffee? Do you love being “pitched” to buy credit cards on airplanes (which probably all lower your credit score)? Can you really decipher the bond issues you're asked to vote upon with their triple negatives and boiler plate language? We tend to provide so many options to appear as if they raise the overall quality of our offerings. Or the lawyers insist we cover all the ground we can and leaver out nothing. Maybe the customers are at fault—do we need instructions that include “turn bike light on at night” or “do not eat or consume any of these pool chemicals”? We don't recycle all that wasted food. People bring home prodigious amounts, which they don't finish there, either. Maybe we need to look at quantity in a new way. To quote Miss Piggy, “Never eat anything you can't lift.”
