Hosted on Acast. Juraj Koreň je extrémny paraglidista, horolezec a dobrodruh. Kombinuje horolezectvo s lietaním. What's up to my quintessential quetzals and meritorious margays! Welcome to the BNP beloved listeners and thanks so much for tuning in. This episode I'm joined by my good friend, hermano de otra madre, and traveling compatriot Jonathan Glowacki to discuss, reminisce and digest our recent travails thru the magnificent country of Guatemala. This episode is momentous for several reasons, not the least of which is that it features the BNP's first ever Saunacast, where Jonathan and I record a deeply psychedelic segment during the 4th round of a serious sauna sesh at over 200° F (94° C). My trusty moderately intelligent rare earth device lasted about 10 minutes before succumbing to the heat and abruptly cutting off the segment. Still, it's a vibe. Jonathan then tells the harrowing tale of his highly unregulated, nearly fatal motorcycle tour thru the dusty roads and precipitous cliffs of the Guatemalan highlands, and that reminiscence leads to a discussion of what makes Guatemalan society hit so different from life in the empire. Two differences in societal approach really stand out: approaches to mitigating (or rather NOT mitigating) risk, and the lack of slavish adherence to this demonic thing we empire babies call "convenience." Convenience for convenience's sake is a curse, not a blessing, and spending time in a place like Guatemala really drives this home. We also chat about the wild (also highly unregulated- do you detect a pattern) DIY boat rides between the pueblos nestled on the shore of Lake Atitlan, active volcanoes popping off outside Antigua, military controlled neighborhoods in Guatemala City and much more.So fire up your baby jeeter, pop open a monkfruit sweetened grape soda (or whatever the f***), kick up your toes and enjoy the ride! Please keep your mind and thoughts decidedly *outside* the carriage while the audio ride is in motion. Welcome to Guatemala. When Adrian's wife thought it would be a good idea to learn how to Paraglide, she probably didn't foresee that in a relatively short amount of time, her husband would be summiting and flying solo off volcanoes near their home in Mexico City.Obviously, Adrian took to the sport quickly and it gave him a completely different view of his other favorite hobby, climbing. But with their recent family addition of a little girl and limited time off work, Adrian needed a way to summit mountains over 18,000 feet and return home in the same day. This led him to sleeping in a hypoxic chamber to decrease the amount of time needed to acclimate to high elevation. Talk about dedication to adventure. What's your excuse?Adrian will also be supporting Marko Hrgetic in the Red Bull X-Alps this June.Instagram: @ponchoelpilotohttp://youtube.com/ponchoelpilotoSupport Adventure Sports Podcast monthly by going to Patreon.com/AdventureSportsPodcast or make a one-time donation to the show here. Zajímavé povídání o létání na paraglidu a rogalu z úst jednoho člověka, výhody a nevýhody obou křídel, to vše uslyšíte v první části. Petra znám zároveň taky jako člověka, který má dobře „zmáknutou“ meteorologii a mnoho dalších praktických věci kolem létání a zaujala mě jeho poslední přednáška na akci Záložka Praha, pod názvem Jak poznat přeletový den. Právě o tom, jak vyhodnotit počasí a naplánovat letový den si povídáme v druhé části. Věřím, že podcast vám přidá další střípek do mozaiky vašich vlastních zkušeností při plánování vašich přeletů.
Divyanshu Ganatra lost his sight to glaucoma when he was just 19 but that did not deter him from living his life. For this 39-year-old clinical psychologist, life is as normal as it can get for any able-bodied person. So much so that he is such an adventure sports enthusiast from trekking to scuba diving to paragliding, he does them all. He became the first visually-challenged person in India to be a solo paraglider and he has to his credit a successful expedition to Milam Glacier in the Kumaon hills' of Uttarakhand in the Himalayas, among others. Divyanshu now promotes adventure sports among persons with disabilities along with able-bodied persons through his social initiative ‘Adventure Beyond Barriers'. UPDATE: In August 2017, he successfully completed India's first ever inclusive tandem cycling expedition InSync from Manali to Khardungla, a distance of 540 km in 9 days for the second consecutive time.
