Poker Cheat DQ'ed from Tournament, Tom Dwan Update & Hawk Tuah Girl Returns

PokerNews Podcast

In the 890th episode of the PokerNews Podcast, Chad Holloway, Mike Holtz, and Kyna England talk about admitted poker cheat Ali Imsirovic being DQ'ed mid-tournament from an event in Florida. Was it the right thing to do? It was a highly debated development, and the crew dove headfirst into the drama by discussing a poker black list, what bestbet Jacksonville could've done differently, and if poker pariahs could even be welcomed back to the game. They then give an update on Tom Dwan, whose recent social media posts really concerned the poker community, and then Connor Richards headed to PokerGO Studio to chat with the controversial Haliey “Hawk Tuah Girl” Welch and others at the Celebrity Poker Tour (CPT) Game Night VI. From there, it's highlights from the Hustler Casino Live (HCL) Million Dollar Game III, such as old-school player Erick Lindgren satelliting his way in, Texas Mike's wild ride, and an interview with Steve! Oh, and we'd be remiss if we didn't talk about that epic hand between Alan Keating and Peter.  Mike then talks about making a final table at the Venetian and playing with Batman at a recent Charity Series of Poker (CSOP) event, Brad Gafford and John Juanda both won tournaments, and poker media veteran Paul Oresteen talks about his new Substack, which you can subscribe to here. Finally, PokerStars North America has introduced a dozen new "Throwables" and the PokerNews Podcast crew not only shares their favorites, but they also offer fans of the show an opportunity to win some just by either listening to or watching the podcast. In the 889th episode of the PokerNews Podcast, Chad Holloway, Mike Holtz, and [Kyna England talk about the recent drama involving, you guessed it, Maurice Hawkins and Denise Pratt. The latter claims to be owed $11,200 after backing the former, and things boiled over when she confronted him at the payout desk at the WSOP Circuit Horseshoe Tunica stop. What's more, the crew reacts to an interview Hawkins gave on his own podcast, him agreeing to come on the PokerNews Podcast before not responding, and then goes one-on-one with Denise Pratt to hear her side of the story. Mike then shares his experience as the last guest on the final episode of the Only Friends Podcast (they were kind enough to gift a piece of their set to the PokerNews Podcast set), Kyna joins Team Hotdog at the LIPS Spring Festival, and Chad headed up to the NFL Draft in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Oh, and Connor was busy at PokerGO Studio interviewing Jennifer Tilly, Mike Matusow, and comedian Ray Romano during the One Step Closer Foundation's "All in for CP" charity event. POY Controversy? Scott Seiver Wins 3rd WSOP Bracelet of Summer & Joey Ingram is a Wizard

In the 843rd episode of the PokerNews Podcast, Chad Holloway and Kyna England are joined at Level 9 Studio by Joey Ingram, who served as special co-host to talk about the latest happenings at the 2024 World Series of Poker (WSOP) as well as his new partnership with GTO Wizard. The biggest story is that of Scott Seiver, who captured his third bracelet of the summer and became just the seventh player in history to win three bracelets in the same year. Could he make history by becoming the only player to win four? He has two more weeks to do it. Despite winning three bracelets, you might be surprised to learn that Seiver is far from a lock to win the 2024 WSOP Player of the Year; in fact, Jeremy Ausmus, who hasn't won a bracelet this summer, isn't too far behind in points thanks to a bevy of final table appearances. Would a non-bracelet winner winning POY over a three-time winner cause a controversy? The crew discusses that very possibility. Chad then shares pictures and videos from the exclusive Global Poker party that took place at PokerGO Studio on Sunday night, while Ingram opens up about all things GTO Wizard. As usual, you'll also get your dose of other WSOP bracelet winners and a $25K Fantasy update. Oh, and did we mention talk about Daniel Negreanu, Nick Schulman, and Phil Ivey? Because that's all in there too. A new PokerNews Podcast will drop twice weekly during the 2024 WSOP every Tuesday and Friday at 8a PT / 11a ET / 4p UK time. Want gambling news and the chance to play online bingo for real money and find the best real money online casinos? Play Slots 4 Real Money and Easy Mobile Casino  discuss gambling in canada, BetMGM hosting the poker tournament at the Aria, Ohio's progress with potential sports betting legislation, and how 1-800-GAMBLER team up with The National Council on Problem Gambling. In our first story, the 1-800-GAMBLER helpline is now being deployed nationwide to help those battling gambling habits. Until recently, the hotline has been registered with the Council on Compulsive Gambling of New Jersey and only used to provide assistance to gamblers in the Garden State. However, the New Jersey Council has now agreed to lend the rights to this easily rememberable number to the National Council on Problem Gambling. The DC-based nonprofit will share the helpline with gambling resource organizations across the country. This means that every caller outside of New Jersey will be rerouted to the local, state-approved addiction assistance center. In addition, each state will now have a single help number that they can easily market and include in advertisements during sports events.  Next up, Ohio is taking its time with the legalization of sports betting. The launch of the sports wagering program in the Buckeye state is already taking longer than in any of the neighboring states. The state lawmakers have set the launch deadline for January 1, 2023, exactly 374 days after Governor Mike DeWine signed the bill on December 23, 2021.The holdup is mainly due to the bureaucracy issues, but also the fact that there are a lot of conflicting interests, as many players want a cut of the $3.35 billion in estimated yearly revenue. Furthermore, multiple agencies regulating the industry have slowed the timeline, too. However, Ohio bettors remain hopeful that they will be able to place their first wagers at the start of the new year.  In our next story, a new major industry player is entering the Canadian sports betting market. NorthStar Bets has officially launched its online casino and sportsbook in the Ontario market. For the launch, North Star Gaming has partnered up with Playtech, which will provide live casino services and its IMS platform. Both companies are hoping that this partnership will allow them to gain a firm foothold in the north of the continent and become a leader in the Canadian iGaming market. For Playtech, the agreement comes on the heels of a very profitable year, mainly due to their successful B2B operations. Besides the Northstar partnership, the company has struck a deal with Caliente which should help them increase their presence in the Mexican market. In our last story this week, casino giant BetMGM has announced an agreement with PokerGo which involves the final table of the BetMGM Poker Championship and the $25K freeroll tournament. The gaming brand of MGM entertainment and the largest poker provider in the world have agreed to bring the finishing stage of the Championship to the PokerGo Studio at the ARIA Resort & Casino. The final table will feature the six players and take place on Sunday, June 26, during the ARIA Poker Classic. The PokerGo will also host a $25K No-limit Hold'em freeroll which will involve BetMGM Championship online qualifiers. The buy-in for the first-ever poker championship organized by BetMGM is $3,500 while the total guaranteed prize pool is worth $1 million.
