His Majesty King Charles III – the longest-ever king in waiting – will be crowned formally at Westminster Abbey, alongside his wife Queen Consort Camilla, heralding a new Carolean era. As the King adjusts to a vastly different spotlight as sovereign, is the world prepared to distinguish the man from his public persona?Just days before the coronation of the 62nd British Monarch King Charles III, National Geographic presents CHARLES: IN HIS OWN WORDS, a documentary special that provides a rare view into the real Charles behind the headlines. Premiering Friday, April 28, at 10/9c, on National Geographic, the unique portrait of a monarch traces back to the beginning, revealing the formative events that have influenced the man, former Prince and the King he was destined to be. The coronation of King Charles III and Queen Consort Camilla is a once in a generation event which will go down in history. But will it go down for all the wrong reasons? The coronation has been surrounded by a number of controversies from what the royals will wear to who will and will not be attending. All of these quarrels really come down to a thousand year old institution, marred in outdated dogma and dripping in stolen jewels, clashing with a modern world in which people no longer revere royalty and many are struggling to live. Add in the fact that the stars of the show, Charles and Camilla are not nearly as well liked as the late Queen or the next generation, Will and Kate and we have a hotbed of coronation controversy. Let's examine the many centuries old disputes and modern contentious issues which have, so far marred the coronation. Including a few which the media haven't been picking over, but maybe they should. Plus I'll reveal what Princess Diana's title and role would have been had she lived. Please take my listener survey to help improve the podcast: www.surveymonkey.com/r/airwave The coronation of King Charles III and Queen Consort Camilla will take place on the 6th of May, 2023. The Palace has announced that it will “reflect the monarch's role today and look towards the future, while being rooted in longstanding traditions and pageantry”. The components of the ceremony, taking an oath, anointing, investing of regalia, crowning, enthronement and homage have not altered since King Edgar was crowned in 973. And since 1066 nearly every coronation has taken place in Westminster Abbey and been performed by the Archbishop of Canterbury. But over the 1000 years since, everything from the wording and prayers to the guest list and what they wore has been altered with each new monarch. I'll use the last two coronations of Queen Elizabeth II in 1953 and King George VI and Queen Elizabeth in 1937 as a guide. And look a bit into palace announcements and media speculation to guide you through what we are likely to see at the coronation of Charles and Camilla. Windsors & Losers, the podcast that tells you a lesser-known story about the British royal family in every episode, will be back with a new season just in time for the coronation on May 6! And this time it's all about the new queen, Camilla. Let's really get to know the woman formerly known as “Mrs. PB” (for Parker Bowles) by palace staff, and “the other woman” by Fleet Street — independent of the Charles and Diana love triangle. What makes this new queen tick? Who are her kids, Tom and Laura? Why did she and Charles get married at town hall? Why doesn't the palace want us to know about her regular trips to a homeopathic wellness spa in India? And lastly, do we regret exploring the connection between fox hunting and Charles and Camilla's physical relationship? Yes, yes we do. Be sure to subscribe!

Britain's Charles III will address the German parliament on Thursday, becoming the first monarch to do so, on the occasion of his inaugural state visit as king. Germany marks the first trip abroad for Charles since ascending the throne and is being interpreted as a “strong gesture” to build post-Brexit ties with the continent. Arriving for his three-day trip on Wednesday, he and Queen Consort Camilla were greeted with military honours at the Brandenburg Gate, the first time the iconic site had lent the backdrop for such a ceremony. The two countries' joint support for Ukraine in its battle against Russia's unprovoked aggression epitomised their commitment to “protecting and advancing shared democratic values. This show is part of the Spreaker Prime Network, if you are interested in advertising on this podcast, contact us at https://www.spreaker.com/show/4090160/advertisement

Join us for an extremely niche Windsors & Losers analysis of "Spare," Prince Harry's monumental biography released last month. Many readers and reporters quite naturally focused on the biggest and most sensational sections, whether it was physical aggression from "Willy" — also known as Prince William — or the claim that Queen Consort Camilla (FKA Camilla Parker Bowles) planted stories about Harry in order to curry favor with the public for herself. And, sure, we were interested in those details. But what we really enjoyed were those between-the-lines nuggets that, we think, revealed a bit more about royal operations than Harry may have intended. Without further ado, let's dive in, like King Charles into his nightly bubble bath (a tradition we now know about, thanks to Spare).
In today's episode, the modern Greek exam being sat by final year students was cancelled on Monday 30 minutes in, as topics on the paper were reportedly leaked by a teacher. Before there was Camilla and Charles, there was Camilla and Andrew. She was Camilla Shand, country girl and horse fan, who was a social star in the classroom, finishing school, and the debutante balls of London. He was Andrew Parker Bowles, a young cavalry officer and the most lusted-after gentleman of her deb season. In episode three of Windsors & Losers, hosts Allie & Eva revisit Camilla and Andrew's unconventional and somewhat racy first marriage — and how she ultimately found her way back into the arms of the future King Charles.

Disgraced former King Juan Carlos of Spain has arrived at Buckingham Palace ahead of the Queen's state funeral amid a row over his attendance. The former monarch, 84, who currently lives in Abu Dhabi, was reportedly asked not to attend the state funeral of Queen Elizabeth II by Spanish prime minister Pedro Sanchéz. But he was pictured being ushered into the Palace by Queen Sofía while clutching the hand of an official for support ahead of the 'reception of the century', where King Charles III and Queen Consort Camilla will greet leaders from around the world. Legend has it that all the men who have owned the Koh-i-Noor have fallen from grace. A Hindu text from the 14th century states that “he who owns this diamond will own the world, but will also know all its misfortunes. Only God or woman can wear it with impunity.” No one has dared to challenge the prophecy, but things could change, as it is a man, King Charles III, who has just inherited the diamond. “By appointment to the Queen” is a royal mark of quality that will disappear now that the Queen has passed on, affecting around 600 companies across the UK. Liz Truss and Fracking and poverty stricken Romanian villagers rose up to reject fracking when they arrived in their country. The UK has overlapping drinking water aquifers and fracking uses a poisonous , carcinogen cocktail. UK shale is also clay heavy unlike US shale which is silica rich therefore more suited to the fracturing process.hough I doubt ignorant Tory ministers know and/or are too rich to care. Their advice would probably be to simply move. A Canadian high school teacher has sparked controversy after pictures emerged of her wearing large breast prosthetics while teaching students. Kayla Lemieux, a Manufacturing Technology teacher at Oakville Trafalgar High School in Ontario, has been pictured online taking classes while wearing the huge prosthetics, which stretch her clothing and stick out prominently. Ms Lemieux, who began transitioning from being male to a female a year ago, has gone viral online after students took photos and videos of the teacher, seemingly without her knowledge. A problem-plagued project to build a £5.5bn fleet of new armoured vehicles for the British Army has been branded a 'disgraceful use' of taxpayers' cash after it emerged the scheme was still stuck in limbo amid safety fears and delays. Whitehall has already spent at least £3.2bn - the same cost of one of the Royal Navy's huge new Queen Elizabeth-class aircraft carriers - on the Ajax fighting vehicles.

It doesn't matter about your age, where you live, or what you were doing last week - it's very likely you've been swept up in coverage of the Queen's death and the new era of King Charles III. So in this episode of Squiz Shortcuts, we cut through the noise and take a look at a brief overview of the Queen's 70-year reign, the events of the past week and what could happen going forward, and the future of the monarchy here in Oz.Squiz recommends:The Queen's handbag symbolismThe Queen's best outfitsThe Age's Tony Wright gives us an insight into how Queen Consort Camilla has won over hearts and minds after being a much-loathed figure in the UK and abroad.
Introduction: Minutes 0 to 6:45 Chandra's favorite tennis player, Juan Martín del Potro, retired. I rethink a new friendship. Royals: Minutes 6:45 to 19:30 Prince Charles has covid for the second time. He is vaccinated and boosted. The night before his diagnosis he went to the British Asian Trust event and was mingling maskless. Sunday February 6th was the Queen's Accession Day, the day she became Queen back in 1952. A few hours before that the Queen released a statement saying that when Charles becomes King she wants Camilla to be style Queen Consort. When Charles married Camilla, he made a deal that she would be styled as “Princess Consort,” but of course Charles has worked for decades to legitimize Camilla and get the public to accept her. We think Charles wrote that statement. We heard that Camilla is going to wear the Queen Mother's crown, which includes the Koh-i-Noor diamond looted from India. Charles is said to have informed both William and Harry that Camilla would be named Queen Consort before the Queen's statement was released. Meanwhile there are think pieces about whether the Queen declaring Camilla will be Queen Consort was a wise political decision and if the British public will accept Camilla as Queen. People Magazine is hyping Camilla too with much the same information as in the British press. I play a segment from Zoom where we talk about this. Chandra mentions that Camilla picked Diana for Charles because Camilla thought Diana would be easy to control. We're looking forward to the new season of The Crown. Kate has been doing the most to put her face out there. She visited a Parental Support Project in London and was around little kids without a mask. Her office issued a little book report afterwards showing that she learned something. William also made a one day diplomatic trip to Dubai. Harry's first statement since the “Queen Consort Camilla” story was about the need for more HIV testing on behalf of the UK's National HIV Testing Week. He referenced his mothers legacy as an HIV and AIDS patient advocate. Oscar Nominations: Minutes 19:30 to 30:00 We got the Oscar nominations this week and there were some surprises and snubs. Most notably Lady Gaga did not get a nomination for House of Gucci. She was doing the most with her suffering for art narrative, and maybe that was true for her but she really leaned into it. Gaga issued a statement congratulating the hair and makeup team, which was the only nomination House of Gucci received. Chandra was surprised Gaga didn't get nominated when Kristen Stewart did, which seemed personal. Kristen Stewart called Oscar campaigning embarrassing last year, but still kept it up. Nicole Kidman got nominated for Being The Ricardos. Chandra goes off on how much she hates that movie. She loves The Lost Daughter, particularly the performances. She also liked The Power of the Dog. I play a clip from Zoom where we talk about the Oscar movies. Chandra and I want to see Drive my Car and The Worst Person in the World. We're not really excited about any of the other movies. We think Jessica Chastain might win Best Actress for The Eyes of Tammy Faye. Either Will Smith or Benedict Cumberbatch will win Best Actor. Comments of the Week: Minutes 30:00 to end My comment of the week is from OriginalLaLa on the post about Dax Shepard filling a water cooled mattress with a protein shake and making it stink up the bedroom. Chandra's comment of the week is from Anita on the post about Adele at the Brit Awards. We hope Adele is ok after canceling her Vegas residency and wonder what's going on with her. Thanks for listening bitches!
